We get to see more of Akira's feelings towards her injury. It something that has been in the back-burner since she started her flirting with Masami but it wasn't explored that well. This series is moving well and some of the supporting characters get their time for some panel exposure as well. It's another solid volume.
The plot switches gear in this one and things start to move. As constantly good as always although I think some stuff were done too quickly (sudden crush and the new character).
No progress on the pseudo romance side but at this point I don’t think it matters anyway. So this volume shifts between knitting scarves - a (slightly) funnier part than it seems - a funny chapter centered on Yoshizawa and his delusions or Haruka’s change of perception of Masami. But mostly it seems to want to focus on Akira’s injury and the trauma it was for her. Low key and subtle.
The words below this sentence will contain act two spoilers.
This entire volume is mostly about our protagonist, a seventeen year old former track runner who suffered a potentially career-ending injury, being unable to deal emotionally with her injury as well as how to move forward with it. The most interesting development of this volume was learning that in fact her injury isn't career-ending, because another new runner from her former track team suffered it as well and is still running, but our protagonist Akira Tachibana is frozen in her inability to deal with her complex emotions.
For some reason I'm having trouble remembering everything that happened in this volume. The stuff unrelated to Akira's injury is about one of her coworkers wanting to knit a scarf for her love interest (yes, this is one of those kinds of slice-of-life series), and in the process, because the clueless love interest dug into who that girl was interested in, he found out he might not be closed off to that ditzy girl's attentions. We also got more regarding Akira's former best friend, who still belongs to the track team. This former best friend ran into the forty five year old boss of the protagonist (Akira's romantic interest), and the best friend glared at him as if the guy was some lecherous cheater. However, the best friend prods the confused boss about his personal life, and when she learns that the guy is divorced, that he treats his kid well, and that he cares genuinely for Akira's well-being (when the boss learns that the best friend is also a track runner, he asks her if Akira's injury is career-ending), the best friend understands that despite the guy being too old, he ain't that bad.
Akira is pestered by a freshman at her high school who idolizes her ever since that girl spotted the protagonist running. That girl doesn't accept that our protagonist would give up because of that injury, particularly when that girl had suffered the same damage to her own Achilles tendon, but it still competing. Akira doesn't take this realization as a good thing: addressing anything related to her frozen trauma makes her angry. She's hoping to be given more shifts at work so she can focus on being around the person she's infatuated with, but also because that'll take her mind off her personal troubles. At one point, the manager forgets some important documents for a meeting, and even though Akira could have ran up to him to give them, she's frozen, unable and unwilling to try running again. The volume ends with the manager realizing that something is wrong with this girl and suggesting that she shouldn't take so many shifts, that instead she could focus on her personal life. She gets weird, half-punches a locker and says that working that much is exactly what she wants.
I like this protagonist very much. She knows what she wants and she pursues it energetically. Whenever people intrude into her boundaries, she tells them to mind their own business, and even though she knows her tastes are unorthodox, she just wants to be herself. But she's fatally flawed, as part of her psyche is unable to deal with her trauma, which is why this series exists to begin with, I guess.

I enjoyed getting more insight into Akira's feelings about her injury and the team, and I hope she gets back to it in the end. Akira's feelings for the boss are still very cute, and we get more of Yoshizawa in that volume, yay!! I like how all the characters find themselves interacting with each other and understanding the others' points of view better, it's very well done.
Dupa cum sugereaza si coperta, in volumul 6 facem o incursiune in trecutul Akirei ca alergatoare si vedem ce mai face clubul de alergare.
There was a chapter with Yoshizawa (?) and I was so happy. Akira was being dramatic at the end of this volume, but it wasn’t too bad. It’s getting interesting so that’s cool :)
I like that we are focusing more on the track and I'm interested to read more about why Tachibana is not going trough with the physical therapy. What are her motivations and what is blocking her.
