This box set contains the first three books in The Last Sanctuary series and includes over 1200 pages of thrilling action and suspense. Book One: Rising Storm; Book Two: Falling Stars; and Book Three: Burning Skies.
*Rated PG-13 for mild language and non-graphic violence.*
Plausible future dystopia that features very lovable characters, along with a few very 'hateable' ones.
I enjoyed every page of this series and was so happy to find that there was also a sort of prequel story about one of the peripheral characters to read when I finished.
This is one of those series that I never wanted to end, and I now want to read everything this author has written.
The Last Sanctuary Box Set - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Consisting of three novels, this fantastic box set by Kyla Stone, is a gripping near-future survival saga, that has plenty of action, a little romance, a post apocalyptic scenario and much much more. MCs are Gabriel, a renegade, who has murder in mind and Amelia, the spoiled 'princess' daughter of assassin Gabriel's target.
The first book is Rising Star and tells how Amelia and Gabriel meet aboard the Grand Voyager that she lives on with her parents. Though privileged Amelia feels like a bird in a gilded cage and longs to escape her restricted life. Once Gabriel tells her the truth about her father and the Government's crimes against humanity she agrees to unite with him and his forces to stop the looming Armageddon.
Next is Falling Stars: Amelia, Gabriel and the others barely escape the Grand Voyager and immediately they're in greater peril than ever before. A deadly predator is on their trail, intent on destroying them all to preserve the evil Government agenda. A deadly virus strain called the Hydra has been unleashed and will soon kill millions unless an antidote/cure can be found. I thought this part of the trilogy was rather stilted and predictable as this scenario is typical of so many apocalyptic books and films, as is the premise for book 3.
Burning Skies: Amelia is found to be immune and must be protected at all costs, (as the rebels fight their way through a burning Atlanta urban backdrop) in order that they can get her to the eponymous Last Sanctuary, so she can be tested and the result used to save humanity from the unscrupulous perpetrators. Nevertheless, all the novels in the set are well-written and edited and the characters are well-developed and engaging. The many themes of overcoming the odds, romance, deadly peril and lots of action ensures there's something for everyone within. Why not give The Last Sanctuary Box Set a try - I'm sure you'll like it!
This series is a fast-paced and exciting read for fans of dystopian novels. Stone’s characters are multi-faceted and true to life.
The series follows a number of troubled young adults seeking to make sense of a dark and polarised futuristic world where the super-rich dominate, and everyone else struggles to survive. Rich teenagers Amelia, Silas and Finn are on one side of the divide. Willow, Micah and his brother, Gabriel, are on the other.
As political opposition turn to revolution, a deadly virus is rumoured to be killing people in their thousands. Caught up in events beyond their control, the key characters grapple with their own internal struggles as the opulent cruise in book one turns into a terrible nightmare that continues throughout the series.
I would thoroughly recommend this book to both young adults and old. Kyla Stone is a fantastic writer and, in my mind, destined to be a best seller.
THE RACE IS ON!!! Kyla does it big. This is one thrilling rollercoaster ride that will keep you on a razors edge as things heat up big. Once you get to that first page you're lost to this page turning, adrenaline pumping, nerve racking treasure. All the drama, excitement, danger, suspense, betrayal, deceit, lies, all in a race against time. This is one amazing series that will captivate you from the start. Grab your copy and begin your epic voyage. It will not leave you lacking. Kyla writes with such passion the storyline just flows effortlessly and in such a brilliant intriguing tale. Thanks Kyla for pulling this box set together for us.
Really enjoying this series. The characters are so personable and their stories are memorable and relatable. The intertwined love stories are very real and make you want to keep reading more. There is a lot of violence but it’s part of the story, not just there for the sake of shock and awe. I’d recommend to everyone who likes apocalyptic reading
An interesting version of an apocalypse, different to the 'standard plot' that we see so often nowadays. The book has excellent characterisation and a good plot. The story is written from the viewpoint of several characters, which makes a excellent read. I read all the books in the series, and reviewed them all - but my conclusion at the end was exactly the same as for the first book - a cracking read with plenty of twists, and I do hope the author will write more books set in this world.
