A comprehensive plan for matching diet and fitness regimens to body types, based on the proven system of somatotypes
According to fitness guru Phil Catudal, 70 percent of people exercise the wrong way. To achieve lasting fitness and health, Catudal explains, you should work with your natural-born body type and do the optimal combination of cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises and consume the right proportion of macronutrients for your physique. While fitness trends and fad diets will come and go, your body type (somatotype) is the one constant that's never going to change. Just Your Type helps anyone create an individualized workout that's tailored to their body shape and composition. Working harder isn't always the answer, but working smarter is.
Some great advice, workouts, and recipes! A solid break-down of the somatotypes theory and applications.
I understand that this book is one part of a multi-faceted psychological and biological guide to exercise and nutrition, not the ultimate solution. That being said, I’m weaving the helpful information into my routine.
There is some non-supportive (unnecessary) body language within this book and within a few of the body type theories for those who prefer a warning.
I kept feeling like the training and food habits I had weren't working in my favor. There is so much conflicting information out there, and so many trends coming and going that it felt frustrating trying to decipher what felt right for me. I loved this book, it felt personal, and helped me understand why I have been getting the results I have been getting. I have not been unhappy with my body, but I haven't had energy, and what I have been currently doing hasn't given me the results I feel most comfortable with. I finally figured out why after reading this book. I'm looking forward to getting back to where I feel more comfortable. It's an easy and fast read, with lots of information. I'm SO TIRED of the lack of personalization in current trendy programs, and every fitness influencer wants to charge you an arm and a leg for workouts, meal plans, and an app subscription that worked for THEM. This book was very reasonably priced, with better information than I've found in a long time. Thank you Mr. Catudal!
Finally, a solid and easily digestible book that breaks down the body types. This is an excellent resource for any trainer or individual looking to take their fitness to the next level as efficiently as possible.
Body Type training has been getting a lot more attention lately and in this book, Phil Catudal and Stacy Colino hit the nail on the head. With beautiful broken down sections that help you determine your body type and how to train it, this is the ultimate resource for turning your body, into the body you want. I will be re-reading and referring to this text for years to come not only for my clients but for myself. Thank you Phil!
Eager to read this to learn more about different body types and how “one size fits all” doesn’t work.
There’s a test to find out roughly what body type you fall in. I also particularly like the hybrid type. The exercise plan and the macro nutrients advised are sound and are important to take note.
Honest and in-depth advice for reaching your full potential. This advice is presented in easy to follow language that can be broken up and applied in pieces at a time.
I actually ordered this by accident, but decided to flip through it over the weekend. It does have some helpful information that I will take away from it, but a lot I already knew about.
Quick and easy read! I definitely struggle with the nutrition side of things and this book was extremely helpful and breaks things down for you. By adjusting my macros and calories to his recommendations, I'm down 7 pounds, 2% body fat and feel better already!! 🙌🎉🙌🎉🙌🎉👊💪
This would be an excellent book for anyone who is just starting out on a diet/exercise regime and doesn't know how to begin. The premise of modifying a diet and exercise regime based on body type and inherent physique seems reasonable. For any plan to work it takes having clear guidelines and working within them. What I like about this book is that for each body type there are recommendations on what kinds of exercise will give the best results. Ditto for type of diet. The author also stresses that we should all embrace our natural body type instead of yearning for something else. There are well-thought-out menus and recipes and also detailed exercise plans complete with diagrams. This is a great resource for someone wishing to start out on a healthy eating and exercise routine.
I LOVED this book! As someone who spends a lot of time researching diet and exercise programs, I like that this program was about finding the best plan for ME.
I found the ectomorph/mesopmorph/endomorph quiz really helpful because I think a lot of us view ourselves differently from who we really are (turns out I'm a mesomorph; this whole time I was convinced I was an endomorph - who knew?!) While body types aren't a new science, I love that Catudal broke down the specific diets and macros that work well for each body type, as well as the diets that work best for people who are a combination of body types. He also recommends specific workouts and training programs for each type.
But two things I really loved were the focus on the mental element and his Plan B. The hardest part of diet and exercise for me is staying motivated, and I appreciated that Catudal provided several ways to keep your motivation going, especially during those times you're not seeing the scale change or your dress size shrink. He's also realistic in providing an alternative plan called Plan B for those times you're traveling or life just gets too hectic.
Overall, I think what I most enjoyed about this book is that it's realistic and allows you to create a customized plan that works for you. Phil Catudal understands that there isn't a one size fits all approach to weight loss and that no matter how focused you are, life can get away from us sometimes, but it's still possible to hit our health goals. I've highlighted and bookmarked so many pages in this book, and can't wait to share it with others!
