Nate is book 2 in the steamy Brothers in Blue Series
Sophie and Nate are a couple you will want to get to know better! Simone Carter continues her Brothers in Blue series with these two, and by the end, I feel like they are family. Carter has a way of creating well developed stories in a short time. Nate is a force to be reckoned with. When he finds out Sophie is being stalked, he makes it his mission to protect her. Their attraction is obvious and impossible not to give in to. But as danger is imminent, Sophie needs to make a tough decision. Stay or go? The best part of this series, other than the couple is getting to know Nate's family. We already know Nick, but this family is the one that you want to hang out with. With Lissa Blackwell narrating this story, it's an enjoyable listen, will keep you on your toes with a little suspense and having you fall in love.
NATE is the second book in the Brothers in Blue series. While this stands completely on its own, it is better to read them all and in the order of release.
This is a terrific, fast-paced, action-packed, suspense romance! Though the stalker’s identity was too obvious (no red herrings to keep you guessing) and the economic status of the heroine (from unemployed art teacher to shop owner with an assistant in a few weeks), I still enjoyed the story. I recommend suspending a little reality and experience the romance and suspense.
I would love to read (listen to) more of this series. There is one more brother…. and two more sisters in the Baker family.
Narration: The narrator, Lissa Blackwell, has a sweet melodic voice. She does an admirable job of giving the different characters different voices, though I did wonder why Sophie had a southern twang to her voice when she was a “true Chicagoan.” The production quality needs work. Bathrooms have wonderful acoustics – for singers working on practicing their projection. As audiobook studios, they are echo chambers.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Audio book review This is a short audio novella. This story has many levels, it’s a suspense, a mystery but more important it’s a lov story Hero is Nate Heroine is Sophie . Nate and Sophie are connected by family but not the way you think . Sophie doesn’t think she’s entitled to happiness. She’s a foster child that a family finally took her in . Nate and his family are the ones that takes her in , Nate on top of it is a cop. Slowly Sophie realizes tha there is stalker after her . The situation gets real serious when Nate gets shot . Was it the stocker that shot Nate . Will the stocker get to Sophie.
Lisa Blackwell was fantastic telling us this story . Her voice is strong , clear and steady
Sophie met Nate when his brother was the police officer protecting her best friend. Then he went undercover. Now he has a carriage house she can use for her business. But there is a slight problem, first she gets shot at, then she starts getting scary notes she has a stalker. But the plus is Made the handsome police officer/boyfriend she has to protect her. Plus she finds her dad.
This is the second book in the Brothers in Blue Series, a short Romantic Suspense. Like the first book in the Series, the storyline is suspenseful, fast-paced and action packed. I like Sophie and Nate's story and I enjoyed my listening. The narration was well done. Lissa Blackwell has a great voice, easy to understand. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
A quick listen for when you done have a lot of time but want to get a whole story. This being the second book in a series I was able to listen to it as a stand-alone without any issues. This book has just enough suspense that will keep you wondering what is really going on all the way until the end. Definitely worth the listen. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Nate: Brothers in Blue Series, Book 2 was a great read by Simone Carter. Sophie is being stalked but she doesn’t know who it is or why they are stalking her. Nate is a police officer who Sophie is falling for. Nate gets shot and now Sophie doesn’t know if she should leave him or stay. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more by Simone Carter.
Just as book 1, book 2 is a superficial read. This unemployed art teacher went from barely making ends meet to having a storefront with an assistant in a matter of a couple weeks. The stalker was evident way before the big reveal.
Sadly, this series is lacking depth. And, just like book 1 this book is told only from Sophie's point of view.
This book was pretty good...right up to the point where things with the stalker escalates. Sophie kept a "key" piece of info to herself that would have given the police a possible lead on who the stalker might be. Ms. Carter probably wanted it to be a surprise for readers, but I think that she still could have propelled the story forward even if we had an idea of the "who." I think it was a costly mistake not to have any suspects at all. I mean hints about the "father" was good for throwing readers a bone, but I just find it hard to believe that the actual culprit never once crossed Sophie's mind; especially since she knew what that person was capable of and had apparently kept tabs on them. Maybe Nate wouldn't have been so blindsided either. He's a cop who was left a bit unprepared. I'm glad his pride didn't take a hit. I just saw all kinds of super potential for this storyline.
However, I really did enjoy this story; even more so than Book One with Darcy and Nick. In that one, Darcy was being too-too stubborn about being with cop. Aside from withholding information, Sophie was actually an admirable character. She was talented, and managed to get her life together in spite of her rough childhood. And let's not forget how charming and fantastic the second oldest Baker Brother is! He's kind and considerate, and just an all-around great guy. Good book
A quick story with a excellent love story and a touch drama and suspense. I enjoyed the characters. The hints about who was doing the stalking were pretty evident so there was no surprise there. The characterization was on point and were easily relatable. They seem like people I would want to hang out with.
Lissa Blackwell did a good job on the voices but the narration was very monotone. Since there was a good deal of that it got to be somewhat dry overall.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
