If you were sitting in a coffee shop with a good friend and they said, "I want the kind of faith that yo have," and you had 10 minutes to respond, what would you say?
In this concise and engaging book, André Regnier draws on decades of experience as a Catholic evangelist to suggest a concrete, adaptable and life-changing approach to evangelization. Providing an intuitive introduction to the Christian concept of conversion, as well as a practical guide to engaging in spiritual conversations, Clear & Simple goes beyond any particular evangelistic program to communicate the heart of relational ministry and care for souls: intentional spiritual conversations. Here is a timely resource that not only equips readers to respond to the Church's call to mission, but proposes an approach of evangelization fostering greater faith, hope and charity in the Catholic evangelist.
Just finished Clear & Simple!! Oh so good, incredibly inspiring. This is a badly needed resource for Catholics who have that missionary zeal and great desire to lead others to Christ, but don’t quite know how to do that. After some background about concepts of encounter in relationship, and our free will choice to respond to the invitation Christ sets before us, Andre gives us the tools and even the words to have intentional spiritual conversations in order to share the Gospel message and invite a response.
I’m excited about this book. So often we are told to the best way to convert souls to Christ is just by living a life of witness. This is true ... but it’s not enough. We need to speak up as well! This book equips us for just that.
I have worked for the Catholic Church for nearly 12 years. In that time, I have never found a more direct and helpful book on the Kerygma (basic Gospel message of Christianity), conversion, and evangelization than "Clear & Simple".
The author does a fantastic job explaining the basic tenants of the Christian faith while also highlighting our role in God's plan for the salvation of souls. Mentioning how conversion is an act of the intellect, desire, and will was not only enlightening, but inspiring as well. With relatable stories and inspiring quotes from Saints, this book reveals its accessibility and ease of comprehension.
If you are a Catholic priest, youth minister, religious educator, theology teacher, retreat coordinator, or even a lay person who desires to help others know the love of God, you should read this book.
Reminded me strongly of all the evangelism training I received and then provided while involved with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) for several years. It was encouraging to see a Catholic book so focused on evangelism and discipleship! It will surely be a help to any faithful Christian who wishes to share their faith and lead others to a deeper relationship with Christ.
I do wonder if Regnier emphasized a little too much the discreet moment of initial conversion, and if that might provoke a little anxiety in those who do not exactly remember a specific moment in which they moved "from death to life," but this is a small critique. Worth the read, and it's quick!
A great read indeed! I was already familiar with a lot of the concepts in this book, so the second half was more of a review for me. The first half of the book was really intriguing for me. Regnier includes anecdotes and lists types of relationships/reasons why some people may not feel the need for a Christ-centered life. It was really eye-opening in terms of explaining not only other peoples' relationship with the Lord, but mine as well. A very short read for some good insight!
4.5/5 Easy to read, eye-opening, and evergreen enough to keep for future reference. Besides the topic at hand, the important analogies that was presented allowed me to connect it to and reflect on other aspects of (my) life.
Andre Regnier has written a convincing case on how to give witness to the "kerygma", the central saving message of Christ/Christianity, in our time. The fruit of many years of prayer, pondering, and activity, Regnier's book is a plausible witness itself!
