To live in the light, they hunt in the dark…

The power of Helena’s magic has made her a target for the Coven. She wanted no part in the war of the witches, but it’s out of her hands now. She has to make a stand – and she does that by helping the Hunters and their allies against their common enemy. And now, the witch who ripped Helena’s future apart is coming. Sybbyl’s vengeance is swift and terrible, pitting the two against each other. But Helena doesn’t have to fight the Coven alone. A seductive warlock offers his aid. Helena is hesitant to give her trust to him – because it’s more than her life on the line. It’s her heart as well.

As the most feared and respected warrior of the Varroki, Jarin is used to being on his own. But with the Coven’s quest to locate the bones of the First Witch escalating, he finds it increasingly difficult to retain his solitary existence. When Jarin encounters Helena, he is helpless to resist her. She’s everything he didn’t know he wanted, and with her help, he’s convinced that maybe his people can finally defeat their foe. But there’s so much more at play than they know―ties in blood and sacrifice―and the loss that’s sure to follow may be greater than any of them can bear.

Stars: Overall 4 Narration 3 Story 4

Overriding this whole plot is the search for the bones of the First Witch. Important for so many reasons and a driving factor for this series, and bringing us a connecting thread that ties the tale together. But, even with that information, it is the character development and relationships that underpin this series and are easy to follow, providing intrigue and entertainment. That being said, having the experience of reading (or listening to) the series in order will give a fuller sense of the world and the dangers it contains. But for now, we have Helena: trying to stay alive and off the radar of Hunters, Coven and Varroki – so she’s not using her magic, moving stealthily and always second-guessing every move. Her overwhelming desire (and mission, if you will) is to end the Coven and bring a sense of peace to the world and security to humanity. She’s got plenty on her shoulders and it’s not necessarily easy being her: but with her strength, determination and fierceness – Helena is up to the challenge.

And then she is discovered by Jarin, a Varroki and one who she’s been ducking for ages. Jarin is instantly intrigued by the fierce and strong Helena, and while it would be easy for him to jump in all alpha and start commanding – but he doesn’t. He listens, He observes, and allows Helena to explain her position and choices, and gets a fuller picture of the whole challenge she’s faced, and the consequences of the same. These two were wonderfully portrayed with their moments of conflict, jockeying for position, and even the growing affections for one another. Throughout the multiple twists and turns, a huge ‘wow’ moment and a mission left unfinished (and thus a cliffhanger) the tale is hard to put down and even more intriguing in the whole ‘progression’ of the series. New characters, a twist that may redefine the original quest and more questions unanswered leave the opportunity for a next book at Must Have.

Narration for this story is provided by Louisa Jane Underwood, my second encounter with this narrator. Clear and concise presentation of the words, dialogue and action, with distinction evident in the different female characters. Again, however, I was disappointed with the lack of distinction given to male character voices: they were very similar to one another as well as less recognizable as a male’s perspective. With all of the action and twists, the newly introduced characters and unexpected changes, more distinct and recognizable differences in characters would have made the listen easier to follow along with clear understanding. And that was a challenge – not all caused by the narrative issue but the rapid-fire twists and turns that seemed to veer the plot and mission off into another direction. Intriguing, entertaining and feeling very ‘classic Grant” in the end, the story is one to follow with more to come.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Recorded Books for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

4.5 Stars!

I have been intrigued by Jarin from the start of this series and was soooo happy to read his story! The fight against the Coven is heating up. This book was full of action and secrets being revealed. Helena is so much more than she realized and Jarin is the one to give her her wings.

Love the time period, love all the paranormal and historical myth and really loved Jarin and Helena together. Such a strong couple and each made better by supporting each other. Yeah for Lady Maelene and the changes she is bringing among the Varroki. Prepare for lots of magic, romantic moments and heartbreaking loss.

Great addition to the series!

The newest book in The Kindred series is a gripping, emotional tale that holds readers captive from beginning to end. Helena and Jarin’s are strong, energetic characters that easily captivate readers with their story and the chemistry between them is quite magnetic as grow closer together during their hair raising quest to put an end to the Coven. The relationship hits a few snags along the way but the passion is hot and strong which pulls these characters toward their happily ever after even through neither is sure they will live to see another day. Readers easily connect to both of these characters which makes them want to reach out and help them during some troublesome times.

Everbound is fast paced with lots of thrilling and spellbinding events that keeps readers on the edge but be prepared to shed some tears and gripped with some powerful emotions. Surprising twists keep the characters balanced on a razors edge as well keeping readers guessing while the realistic feeling and magical battles gets the adrenaline pumping and sends chills down the spine. The characters in this story have grit and strength that surpasses most and the story grips readers by the heart and refuses to let go and since the author makes it so easy to become part of it, readers get an enthralling reading experience.

4.5 of 5 stars

*Warning* If you haven't read previous book in this series, this review will contain spoilers from previous books. While it can be read stand alone, I recommend reading the series in order or at the least read 'Everwylde' before this book.

Jarin is a warlock and one of the best warriors of the Varroki. They are descendants of the First Witch and the Vikinngs. He's been hunting Coven witches for years and is determined to hunt down Sybbyl. He is aided by his animal companions a falcon named Andi and a wolf named Valdr.
Helena is a powerful witch who is being hunted by the Coven. She has been in hiding since she escaped them with the help of a Hunter.

Jarin and Helena cross paths after Jarin found her cold, alone and wounded after winning a battle against a Coven witch. They decide to join forces to hunt down Coven witches, and Sybbyl the new self-procl1aimed leader of the Coven.

Sybbyl is determined to take over the world now that she has the Staff of the Eternal and find more bones of the First Witch and end the Hunters once and for all. You only have two choices with Sybbyl, join her or die.

When Jarin finds Helena she's half starved and weak. He helps her regain her strength and confidence and becomes her partner in the fight against the Coven. He's spent his life alone and thanks to the Lady of the Varroki changing the rules he no longer has to remain celibate. I loved how accepted Helena, listened and supported her rather than trying to force his ideals on her.

This story tells not only their story but reveals more history about the First Witch and the origins of the Coven. As well as brings the Varroki further into the series as they agree to join forces and fight together with the Hunters. There are surprises, twists and turns that will engage you, shock you, as well as frustrate you.

While Jarin and Helena have their HEA moment the story ends with a cliff hanger in the fight against the Coven arc of the story.

Everbound is part of the Kindred Series by Donna Grant. This is a newer series by the author but follows her pattern of a romance within an overarching theme. For that reason, this paranormal series may be best read in order. However, this is my first read of the series. I had no problem following the romance or why Jarin chose to help Helena but still think my enjoyment would have been enhanced if I had read the first two books in the series first. I did enjoy this book enough that I plan to go back to catch up with the other books.

The story flows with a jump right into the plight of Helena, her powers and the danger that she is now in because of the Coven. Jarin soon runs across Helena with the two joining forces. The attraction is inevitable. Their story is complete but the enemy is not defeated in this book so there is a cliffhanger on the big conflict in the series.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Heart of a Warrior

Donna hit another home run with Everbound! It is simply amazing! The fight to take out the coven continues as Jarin and Helena come up against Sybyyl and the coven. Sybyyl having the staff of the eternal has boosted her power and her search for the bones of the first witch continue.
Jarin has given Helena the courage to stop running and fight with the hunters and the Vorraki. Every war is Not without loss and it hits close to home.....

I thought that this was an excellent book!!

I couldn't put it down until it was finished, but unfortunately it left me wanting to know what happens next as it was left on a bit of a cliff-hanger and now I have to wait for the next book to come out to find out!!

I hadn't read the previous books in the series so it is fine to be read as a stand alone as I picked up the story very easily. I loved the characters and the author's excellent writing style was really showcased in the book.

It was full of twists and turns and a completely riveting story - 5 stars!!

This is the third book from the Kindred series by Donna Grant that brings us the story of Helena and Jarin.

Helena has been running from the Coven for a long time. She didn't want to be in the middle of the witches war but now she has to help the Hunters defeating their common enemy.

Jarin is a respected warrior. He's a lonely man but being alone is becoming difficult with the quest of finding the bones of the First Witch. And when he meets Helena everything changes for him.

I was really looking forward for Jarin's story and I have to say that it didn't disappoint. This was one of my favourites books from the series. Helena and Jarin's story was beautiful and absolutely perfect. These characters were very strong ones and together they were just perfect. Like the rest of the books, the plot was compelling and intriguing, filled with suspense and action.

Everbound is the third book in the Kindred series, and so far my favorite. I’m so glad that this was Jarin’s book, he had intrigued me every time we met him. He turned out to be a wonderful character. Jarin and Helana’s story was beautiful. Good progress was made with the storyline with the coven. More is revealed with the Malene and Armir as well. I truly hope that the next book is theirs.

Series: The Kindred #3
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

Helene has been running from the Coven for a long time. While she plans to keep avoiding the Coven as much as possible she does help the Hunters when she can. At least until a handsome warlock changes her mind and is willing to stand beside her against the Coven.

“I will stand with you in the most violent of storms. I will stand with you to face the deadliest of foes. I will stand with you in the calmest ocean. Because you are in my heart.”

I adored Helen and Jarin’s story. These two were adorable and heartbreaking at the same time. I loved the choices these two had to make and their openness with each other. Helene was one tough cookie. Her past is heartbreaking and she never really had time to mourn the trauma that happened before she went on the run. Helene is a strong heroine who you can’t help but love.

Jarin has been the Varroki we have seen the most of in this series. He is a quiet soul that is filled with a surprising amount of compassion. While he is very powerful he isn’t arrogant about it or flashy, which made me love him even more. I loved Jarin’s “friends”, Valdr and Andi as well. They made perfect companions in the fight against the Coven.

The overall story progressed a lot in this book. Sybbyl dealt a huge blow to the Hunters and Varroki at the end of this book and it changed everything. This was unexpected and heartbreaking and I both loved it and hated it. I really can’t wait to read the next book because I need to know how the Hunters deal with all the changes that happened.

The Hunters, The Coven, and The Varroki all want a piece of Helena!

Helena is still hiding out from the Coven, shying away from using her magic when she can to avoid giving away her location. But when a Varroki stumbles upon her, she has to stand her ground and take down the Coven once and for all.

There twists and turns, red herrings and more than one WTF moments I'll admit! I got a lost a few times and had to backtrack to make sure that I had kept everything straight in the old noggin. There are more new characters added and I'm sure that there must be an off-shoot series to accommodate all my what-about-this threads!

Helena is a strong character, she has had to be with the life she has led. Jarin for his part is also emotionally and physically strong but with a contemplative outlook that belies his warrior rank.

No cliffies as such but I really want to know what happens next!

Helena & Jarin's story! It is official the Varroki have entered the fight with the Hunters. The Coven is outraged, they also have a plan and in this story will have a piece of the first witch that no one wanted them to have. Helena soon finds out that her role in all of this is much more important than she would have ever guessed. Again, don't want to give away too much. I will say that I love Helena and Jarin together! I also will say that I read romance for a reason and hate when sad things happen to main characters! I mean really! Why did you do this to me DG? I am so sad about events in this story, but cannot wait until she rights another book for this series. I have to know what happens to everyone!

Falling in love may not be the riskiest thing in this action pact fight against evil

Helena finally has her day and it packs a punch. Her story is tragic and her fight is long and hard. She may seem like she runs from danger but that could not be further from the truth. Jarin is use to fighting alone. As a warrior of the Varroki he knows how to fight but what they are up against with Sybbyl is way out of his league. They are both strong and taking out the evil that is Sybbyl is their number one priority. A beautiful pairing, a match that could not be more perfect for each other. This one really takes things to the next level and be forewarned, it will hurt.

Running into love

A continuation of the Kindred series. A story of unknown destinies, bonds of love, villains you love to hate, and tragedies that will break your heart. Jarin has met his match in Helena, a witch who has spent her life avoiding the Coven. A woman who he is drawn to because of her intelligence, compassion and strength. When details of her life are revealed her days of running are over. She must face the Coven before she loses everything, again. An adventurous story that kept me ensnared and longing for more.

I can't believe it took me so long to read this book. I finally decided for it because there is a new Kindred book coming out and I needed to be caught up. I loved Helena and Jarin's story and it was a quick and intense read. We don't know much about Helena from the other books and only slightly more about Jarin but they are amazing characters. Additionally, the battles in this book are well written and the results aren't always the happy ending that we want them to be. This is a must read for anyone who needs a great historical with a twist!

Exciting and absorbing with strong characters and villains.
I confess I cried like a baby when the heartbreak came.
I’ve given it 5 stars even though I was disappointed in the way the love making played out.... he was celibate, but he bedded witches when necessary? WTF? If he was close enough for that he was close enough to kill them. It disappointed me. As for Helena, not well versed in sex? She took him like a professional sex worker! Any more well versed she might have killed him.
Apart from that? Excellent!

This series is getting better with every book. Here we have Helena who has been running from the Coven for a while. Unknown to her she has more power than she can imagine.

Jarrin is a warrior, a Varroki, a witch hunter who will stop at nothing to stop the Coven from killing innocent people including children.

Apart they have had some success, and won some victories, but would they accomplish together? Donna Grant weave a tale around how these two people come to meet, battle the leader of the Coven.

Reading Donna Grant's books draw you in and it is hard to put the book down. The characters are amazing and have strong personalities. You have your villain who is a very bad murderess witch and I cannot wait until they take her out in another book in the series. If you are soft heart as I am you will cry in this book. All of Donna Grant's books are worth reading. She is my favorite author and I cannot wait until her next book comes out. Take a chance on Donna's books and enjoy.

Everbound is the 3rd book in The Kindred series. I did not realize that but it didn't feel like it. It did end knowing that there will be another book. This is a Paranormal Romance and I loved the relationship between Jarin and Helena. Also Helena meeting everyone else and fighting the bad witch. I received this as an ARC for review.

Disappointed

Spoiler alert!
I was deeply saddened that two of the main characters from a prior book were killed. I read romance to get away from the realities of real life. And I expect the good guys to “ live happily ever after.” I hope this doesn’t happen in future books as I really have enjoyed all Grant’s books until this one.

An excellent series

After reading the series I am looking forward to reading the next book. This was an awesome storyline, one that is new and refreshing. The last book had a sad episode but I am hoping the bad guys get theirs in the next book. This series was so good I am hoping there will be several more

Oh!

Oh man, I did not expect what happens here in this book.

As usual a great story which movers the series along. One of the thing that keeps me coming back for more with this author is that each book in any of her series does not pause the series in anyway.

Amazing!

The story of Helena and Jarin was one of the best in this series. The direction their adventures took were both exciting and emotional. I couldn't put it down. Donna Grant always delivers amazing stories. I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

A sad day

Well this book adds on from the first two. We learn more about everyone and also the past. It does end in sadness though. A new love is born. Another love is still not acknowledging their love. The war is coming sooner than all hoped.

Fabulous series

Donna Grant creates the most marvelous worlds and characters. Strong women heroines and sexy bold heroes. The love they find is soul deep and the evil they face is ferocious. One page and you are sucked into another adventure. A MUST read.
