Totally different than anything I have ever read but I enjoyed it immensely from the beginning to the end. We have used it for our book club and they have enjoyed it wonderfully it led to lively discussions.

I really liked this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry. A touching story of the neighbourhood curmudgeon. Filled with lots of little stories. It pulls you in. I recommended the book to my husband, the first chapter in he looks up at me and said “you probably think Ove reminds you of me”. I smiled, yes he did, I thought to myself. You may see Ove in someone you know.

This will remain one of my favorite books of all time. Backman’s writing is unmatched, and his ability to pull at heartstrings by somehow letting us into the mind of this old, heartbroken man is magical. The characters are so strong, the dialogue witty. I can’t say enough good things about it.
