Blood & Bourbon is a fiercely independent journal run by storytellers, for storytellers. We’re here to celebrate all things hard, gritty, and raw. True or not-so-true, all we care about is a good story. The kind you tell over too many drinks, too late on a worknight, too far down the street on the other side of town. Includes contributions from Zachary Honey, John W. Dennehy, Israela Margalit, Reggie Mills, Benjamin Fine, Rosaleen Bertolino, David Lefkowitz, Joel Minor, Jon Kemsley Clark, Bruce McDougall, Jeff Nazzaro, Daniel Uncapher, Pablo Javier Herrera, J. J. Steinfeld, Alexander Illingsworth and John Grey.
Phil Halton has worked in conflict zones around the world as an officer in the Canadian Army and as a security consultant. His debut novel, This Shall Be a House of Peace (Dundurn Press, 2019) received a rare starred review from Book List. This was followed by a second novel, "Every Arm Outstretched" in October, 2020 and a history, "Blood Washing Blood: Afghanistan’s Hundred-Year War" in April of 2021.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Defence Studies from Royal Military College of Canada, and a Master of Arts in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Gloucestershire.
