I liked the light-hearted take on speaking to dead people. :) And, I love the idea that people we love here, are working for our good over there.
Characters were believable and true to their natures. I liked all of them and would be their friend...in this life or the next.

My Thoughts :
I have a confession.. Despite owning Whitney Dineen’s previous book series The Mimi Chronicles, I am yet to read them. Kindred Spirits is a standalone, but I aware Mimi and Richard are in these previous books. So I know nothing about these charactors, but what I do know is I have fallen in love with them both.
Richard Bingham has had enough of dead end dates and wants to meet his soulmate and settle down and start a family. He is a business tycon, living in New York City and decides to enlist the help of a matchmaking agency, East Side Yenta.
Then we meet Pip, Pip lives in London and is single. She cant seem to find herself a man after they learn of her special power she got from an illness when she was younger, to see and communicate with dead people. Her mission in life is so pass on messages to the living when they are sent from her contact beyond. If she doesnt do this, strange things will happen to her so she must abide by the rules.
There are also other great charactors to add to the mix, Bertram who is Pip’s contact, Spencer who is Richard’s best friend, Mimi who Richard dates briefly, Victoria and Archibald who are Pip’s parents, Elliot who is Pip’s brother and Honey who is an aristocrat, who wants to find Pip the perfect man. That is to name a few. But the whole supporting cast make this a fab story
I found myself smiling throughout as I turned the pages. This is a feel good read, thought out, and if you are interested in the afterlife like me this is one for you. I couldnt put this book down and I loved how Whitney Dineen made sure all the charactors were connected in some way and made their way to each other in the end. This is one entertaining read that I would recommend to anyone.

Do you believe in the after-life? You might have asked yourself this question from time to time during your lifetime. This hilarious story will have you questioning that sentiment time and again.

Bertram Jasper Griffin has been given the ungodly task of finding his assistant a soul mate in time to save himself, not too demanding, right? Wrong!

Philippa Fielding (Pip) has the wonderful job of relaying messages from the dead to the living. As you guessed it's not always well received, good intentions and all that stuff. Mayhem is probably the most suitable word for what ensues.

Richard Bingham is NYC most eligible bachelor who wants to change his status as quickly as possible. Richard evens hires a Yenta to help him in his quest of finding a bride, but not just a bride, he was a life partner who he can share his life with, have a ton of babies together, a kindred soul, a true love to last a lifetime.

Whitney Dineen can sure spin the yarn. Her writing is original, humorous, witty, and entertaining. If you like romantic comedies definitely check out Whitney Dineen you may find she is better at comedy than most and has the romance part of it as well. It's more than one line here or there, some of the scenarios are spot on and you can picture it in your mind's eye. She is one of my favorite new authors of 2018, so happy she makes me laugh out loud. Who doesn't need laughter in their life?

This book started out as a 4.5-star read. Unfortunately, the plot just didn’t work for me in the end.

The hero and heroine don’t meet until the middle of the story. Please don’t make readers read half the book before the meet cute. Personally, I like it when most of the book involves interactions between the hero and heroine. I willingly released that prejudice and suspended belief to buy into the paranormal aspects of the story. (The heroine relays messages from deceased loved ones.)

What really threw me for a loop was the misunderstanding that separated the hero and heroine as soon as they met. Then, they dated other people!!! I watched them date other people during the first half of the book. They meet, get angry over nothing, and go their separate ways. Now, I’m supposed to watch them go back to dating other people? Noooo!!! Not cool in a romance! I skimmed those pages.

What happened at the end of the story hardly left me with the warm fuzzies. After spending most of the book apart, the romance is rushed in the name of them being “soul mates.” I wanted a better and more romantic story for these two.

What a delightful read. Dineen has a way of mixing things up and keeping her readers up all night reading. She creates characters that are out of the ordinary, but leaves an impact with her readers that is extraordinary. Dineen is so good at creating a book with a perfect mix of romance and paranormal. You will love all the characters...those of this world and those from the world beyond. A wonderful read and a book you will WANT to snuggle up and read this fall. I highly recommend it and all of her other books too.

Kindred Spirits: A Romance About Love, Life, and the Afterlife (Mimi Chronicles 3) - PG13 (language)
Violence: none, some implied
Language: fewer than 20, including deity and a few Fbombs
Sex: none, some kissing

I loved and cheered for Richard in *The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan* (which I very much enjoyed), so I was so glad he's found someone in the quirky Pip. I love how Whitney Dineen takes normal and puts such a thought-provoking spin on it. So good!

Kindred Spirits is my first book by author Whitney Dineen, but I can see why it has 4.9 out of 5 stars total spread over 23 reviews on Amazon. The author definitely knows her craft and genre. In terms of chicklit/ women’s fiction, you don’t get much better books than this one.

Richard Bingham is one of the top ten bachelors in New York City. However, dating proves to be rather disastrous for him… Fed up, he decides to enlist for matchmaking services. What he never expected was that he would meet someone as quirky and different as Philippa Fielding. Philippa can talk to the dearly departed, but that’s not the only unique part about her and soon, Richard finds himself falling for her.

The book is filled with memorable, entertaining characters like Bertram, Spencer, Elliot… It has quirky humor, a solid plot, and a romantic couple you can’t help but root for.

What a hoot!

Pip and Richard are like two ships passing in the night...over and over and over again! This cast of characters is fun, and funny, but there is much seriousness in the job of falling in love. I love the angelic edge to the story and it always made me smile. The ending grabbed me as I did not see it coming. Fun, enjoyable read!

It's been a while that I have read "The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan", so it was a nice surprise - for me, at least :) - that "Kindred Spirits" was going to tell Richard's story. Yes, THAT Richard.

The story was sweet, funny, sometimes heart-wrenching, and I enjoyed revisiting Elliot's and Mimi's families.
I loved both Pip and Richard as main characters, but the supporting cast - Bertram, Honey, the families and friends - sometimes blatantly stole the show. :)

This is my favourite of Whitney's books so far. I've read The Mimi Chronicles and enjoyed seeing a few crossover scenes from a different perspective. I had a real soft spot for Richard so was rapt to see him get his own book.
Full of larger-than-life characters and supernatural escapades, this is chick-lit with a twist.

I was such a fan of dreamy business tycoon Richard Bingham, one of the heroine’s suitors in the Mimi Finnegan books, that I was really hoping he’d get his own story and the author has obliged with her latest release, Kindred Spirits. This romantic and compelling book may just be my favorite of Ms. Dineen’s stories yet. I loved the supernatural element in this book, with Richard’s love interest, Philippa a.k.a. Pip, being able to speak to the dearly departed. The backstory of how Pip acquired this “gift” and how it’s affected her life gives the character a lot of depth and poignancy. It’s Pip’s ability to deliver messages from the great beyond that brings her face-to-face with Richard who refuses to buy what she’s selling, which causes a lot of friction and distrust between them.

Of course, that’s how all great love stories start, isn’t it? And the path these two follow toward coupledom takes some very entertaining twists and turns. They’re helped along the way by Pip’s cheeky, new spirit advisor, Bertram, a fascinating character with a very complicated history, and Honey, an elderly aristocrat with a delightful joie de vivre who’s intent on seeing Pip make a love connection with the right guy.

Two scenes in this book stood out to me as being particularly clever and memorable. The first being the bachelor auction that Pip and Honey organize. The event ends up being a real turning point in the Pip/Richard relationship and what happens there is deliciously steamy. And then the climax of the story when all is revealed about Bertram and why he was assigned to Pip is a real jaw-dropper, and I applaud the author for how imaginatively that played out. The ending of the book was just lovely and left me with a smile on my face.

Kindred Spirits is a must-read for romance lovers, and I highly recommend it. And because I’m greedy and love the characters so much, I hope to see them all return in a sequel.

If you haven’t read a book by Whitney Dineen you are missing an absolute treasure of a writer. She pours wit, wisdom and great dollops of humour into each page. I love her sharp honest opinion that never fails to make me laugh no matter what the subject is.

In Kindred Spirits we get a taste of the delectable Richard, he has appeared previously but now the eligible bachelor wants a mate! After too many dating mishaps he decides to enlist the help of a dating matchmaker. He is based in New York, meanwhile across the Atlantic Pip is single with a rather unique talent.

Allow yourself to drift into a supernatural zone and join Pip as she speaks to those from beyond! Her rather quirky spirit adviser called Bertram is the star of the show .. will there be an opportunity for Pip and Richard to meet? Add in Honey and an auction and that sets the scene for some wonderfully eccentric events.

This has a slightly different feel to other books by this author but once I adapted to the pace I was again rewarded with giggles and mayhem. For anyone of a certain age who remembers it, there is a song that you will be singing long after the ending!

Thanks to Whitney for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Mimi who? You don't have to have read abut Mimi's adventures to enjoy this look into her good friend Richard's life and that of her star crossed sister-in-law Pip. But you will enjoy any book authored by Whitney Dineen.
Sometimes her humor has a dark shading but more often it is laugh out loud. She builds wonderfully likeable characters. This time she crosses between the living world and... well, who really knows what comes next.
This book takes another try at the dating world, with some thirty-somethings feeling they are ready to settle down. Is it better to muddle through alone or get professional help? Thank goodness for close friends and those who believe in us.
Even when told by "reliable sources" the direction to take, Pip has trouble following through. She is almost afraid to set her sights and hopes on the largest prize. Richard has those same doubts, but he is not willing to settle for anything less than the absolute best. Until he discovers what, or should I say WHO, that is.
With a little overlap into Mimi's world, and how she finally grabbed true love, come get to know Whitney Dineen and her friends and enjoy a little romance in your life.

A delightful romance with a significant role for the afterlife

Richard, all work and no play, is ready for a wife, a family. He wants someone real, honest, but not TOO serious, a bit quirky. But it’s hard to find someone who isn’t after his money.

Then we have Pip, British, able to talk to angels, but seen as mentally unstable by lots of people. She is destined to relay messages from the dead to the living.

It was fun reading about all Richard’s dates and about Pip’s encounters with her ghost contact. You get both their separate stories and it all comes together at the end.

There were some bits where the descriptions were a bit curt. And at times all of a sudden you got the thoughts of someone else within the POV of Pip or Richard: that’s too helicopter-view-ish for my liking. In saying that: the story WAS intriguing and fun! I really, really liked it! Delightful! It was different, in a good way. And at the end, there was something that I found quite surprising!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.

This was a strange 2nd chance book as the person getting the 2nd chance was not the hero or heroine but another character. Philippa sees spirit guides after getting really sick with a high fever as an 8yr old kid. Her family thinks she is delusional or has brain damage. She is told by the spirits she has to deliver messages to people from the dead. She does this to the best of her ability but many people don't take it well, think she is fraud or con artist. She has few friends because of this.
All Philippa wants is to find her true love and have a family but because of her bizarre ability/curse she is still alone in her 30's.
The book is clean story with depth regarding life/afterlife and how our actions affect others. It promotes doing the right thing, being kind and caring for others. I really enjoyed the spirit guide Bertram and how his story was woven in to the story of Philippa and Richard looking for true love.

I want a Mimi Finnegan in my life!!
I read this trilogy all out of order, but it was absolutely a delight from beginning to end. I adore Whitney Dineen's writing and can't wait to read her other books, and in fact, I'll likely be re-reading these in the not too distant future. The characters are charming and quirky (if a bit too perfect) and her writing is full of wit and wisdom. Richard is a perfect example of a character that is a bit too perfect. haha But I could only love him and wish more men were like him. The supernatural/spiritual aspect of this story was intriguing and provided a forum or jumping off point for some more serious, existential sorts of ponderings. Dive into the wacky world of the Finnegans and their loved ones. You won't want to leave.

Okay, this book was something else. It wasn't the worst thing in the world and their were a couple of enjoyable moments, but sometimes it was a little bit outlandish. I wish that it hadn't been so much about the whole afterlife thing, but maybe that's just me. Kind of a weird book, but it's not bad.

I love this author, and I liked this book for being so very imaginative. It made me stop for a bit and wonder about life's mysteries.

This book is missing some of the mischievous humor I so love in Ms. Dineen's writing, but I still enjoyed reading it.

4 stars for Kindred Spirits (Mimi Chronicles) A fun look at Elliott's sis Pip and her connection to the spirit world. Some fun moments occur when she delivers messages from the dead. Especially when she delivers a message to Miami's friend Richard. Let the fun begin!

Kindred Spirits indeed

Whitney Dineen writes a wonderfully funny, adventurous, and delightful romance involving the spirit word. Finding true love with the help of one who can see past the chains of the physical. Romance isn’t dead after all.
