This is supposed to be a book about all the different things moose can do, like leaping and jumping and being really tall. But maybe Whoopsie isn't the right moose for the job. You might want to pick a different moose for this book. Maybe instead we can do a book about falling down a lot? Yeah! Whoopsie would be great at that. This hilarious book about a clumsy moose shows that sometimes being a little different can make one great story.
I was able to read the ARC of This Is a Taco! that was also written and illustrated by Andrew Cangelose and Josh Shipley. I like the aforementioned book because of how informative and amusing it was, so I'm really glad that there's a new children's book released by this two. Aside from some of the facts mentioned in the book about the animal being focused, the story and the illustrations are quite funny to read. I like this book but I still love and prefer the first book that they have published.
This is a Whoopsie! is the story of a very clumsy little moose and his feelings of general inadequacy at... moosedom? Anyways, it's really adorable, has some fun factoids for kids about moose, and offers a friendly reminder to love yourself, even if you don't fit the criteria that some people think you should. The artwork is colorful and fun, and I think this would be a really cute addition to any child's library.
Thank you so much to Lion Forge for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I would like to thank NetGalley and Lion Forge for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After reading “This is a Taco!” by Andrew Cangelose, along with artwork by Josh Shipley, I never would have thought that there would be another book from this series! Enter “This is a Whoopsie!” and I automatically went to NetGalley and gave this new picture book a shot and man, was it one of the funniest books I had ever read!
Meet Whoopsie! He is a moose! And this book is supposed to teach children about moose and what their lifestyle is like in real life. Unfortunately, Whoopsie is extremely clumsy and he is constantly falling over himself on each page. After making too many mistakes, Whoopsie decides that he is not the right moose for the job. But, his bluebird friend thinks differently.
Will Whoopsie find something that he is really good at?
Read this book to find out!
Wow! Andrew Cangelose has done it again! I just loved the way that Andrew Cangelose writes the humor in this book as it is full of wit and sarcasm and it just makes this book a treat to read through! I also like the fact that this book has a more heartwarming tone than the previous book “This is a Taco!” did since this book focuses on the friendship between Whoopsie the Moose and the little bluebird who keeps helping him out. Josh Shipley’s artwork is another aspect of the book that I really enjoyed as the artwork is humorous and creative to look at. I especially loved the images of Whoopsie the Moose himself as he has a goofy expression, but he can also sport friendly expressions on his face whenever he is talking to the bluebird.
Overall, “This is a Whoopsie!” is a fantastic read for anyone who loves good humor and books about friendship and children will enjoy this book for many years! I would recommend this book to children ages five and up since there is nothing inappropriate in this book, unless smaller children would have trouble understanding the humor of this book.
This is a silly book, about a moose so clumsy that he knocks all the words around in the book, and isn't sure how to put them back together the right way. So, he has not only broken the fourth wall, but has stopped all over it.
At the beginning of the story, he is telling you true moose facts, by the end, he is making stuff up.
Here he is being clumsy.
And here he is trying to put the words back together again, int he right order.
Similar in tone to This is Taco. Little kids should love learning both true and silly moose facts.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
From the same writer and illustrator as "This is a Taco", this books is very similar. And still original, and totally adorable. I love how the characters in this series (ok, sofar only 2 books, but I really would like to see more...) interact with the reader and the book itself... a rather whimsical and original take on books for kids.
Such a cute book about a clumsy moose. Whoopsie, the clumsy moose, falls a lot. Downhill, uphill, into trash cans, ... The book offers a lot of information about moose and has some very cute illustrations.
Such an adorable book! I was thrilled to get a copy to read to my grandchildren. They adored it! Whoopsie is a moose. He is so cute and a bit clumsy, but he is chosen to tell the story because he knows all about being a moose. He is unsure about his appointment, but his friend encourages him to keep trying. A wonderful book! Beautiful illustrations and a heart-warming story! Thankyou #netgalley
Clearly it is a 5 stars because there is a MOOSE in the story. The story is cute and funny!!! The pictures are great. It is educational as well( learning about Moose ). I will try more books by Andrew Cangelose with illustrations by Josh Shipley!!!
If you were a fan of "This is a Taco," you will also enjoy this title. There are some facts about moose to complement the hilarious illustrations and storyline, which is a nice educational bonus.
This book is funny and interesting in its first half. We learn stuff about Moose with Whoopsie a funny character. Unfortunately in the second half, there is no more content and it's just absurd humor, some children with laugh at it because it's a children humor, but it's just become a bit too empty for me. First half 4 stars, second one 2, I go with a 3!

This is supposed to be a book about all the different things moose can do, like leaping and jumping and being really tall. But maybe Whoopsie isn’t the right moose for the job. You might want to pick a different moose for the book. Maybe instead we can do a book about falling down a lot? Yeah! Whoopise would be great at that! Its a hillarious book about a clumsy moose that shows sometimes being a little different can make one great story.
I give this book a rating of 5 stars. I read this book to my 4 year old daughter. This book was very funny and it has great illustrations. I loved the storyline and it had some great facts about moose as well. I love the fact that it shows that you can do anything you want if you try. It doesn’t matter if your clumsy like Whoopsie, you can still try!
Haha! I loved this quick read about Whoopsie the Moose! So funny! He's definitely accident-prone! :) I love how Taco the Squirrel from the other one is in this one briefly!

From the author of "This Is a Taco" comes another delightful book that kids will love. The book starts out with an apology from humiliated Moose:
"Sorry I crashed into your book. Let me find the missing "O", and I'll get out of your way."
Moose feels embarrassed for causing the mishap and from his next statement you can tell his self-confidence is at an all-time low and he just wants to disappear into the woods.
"I'm not sure I'm the best moose for the job. I fall down a lot. That's why everyone calls me "Whoopsie."
The book starts out by highlighting accurate facts concerning moose. Moose are tall, they can run fast and leap high but poor Whoopsie knows that he can't accomplish any of those things well. He is clumsy and awkward and try as he might he just can't be fit into those molds and he feels downhearted and that he is a failure.
After a series of missteps Moose has a Eureka moment! Wow! He might just create a story about him falling down a lot. That would be a hit for sure. He would be telling HIS moose story from a different point of view and he would let others know that it is alright to be unique from the others. He learns to accept his shortcomings and learns to embrace his idiosyncrasies. This is a wonderful story about being diverse and mostly about being staying true to yourself. I highly recommend this book.
This is Whoopsie, a moose who finds himself falling down a lot. He doesn’t think much of himself. He thinks he’s just clumsy and makes more trouble for others than he’s worth. But his friend Bird knows the truth, that he has value just as himself.
With cleverness, charm, and a compelling message, author Andrew Cangelose and illustrator Josh Shipley have put together another adorable picture book in the vein of This is a Taco! Again, they find a way to teach children (and remind me and other adults) that we don’t have to be perfect to be loved.
This Is a Whoopsie! is filled with fetching illustrations and delightful characters as well as a funny, memorable story that is a great reminder for kids of all ages that we all have something special to offer the world, the perfect lesson for readers of picture books. Keep an eye on this series. It just keeps getting better.
Galleys for This Is a Whoopsie! were provided by Diamond Book Distributors through NetGalley, with many thanks.
This is a Whoopsie by Andrew Cangelose is a delightful little book that follows Moose and his friend, a little blue bird, as they discuss some basic facts about moose. It carries a wonderful message about individuality versus generalization. Each fact is juxtaposed with Whoopsie doing something quite the opposite. He is clumsy, a little on the short side, and generally not the expected moose standard. Half way through the book, the narrative changes shape and becomes much more about silly instances of Whoopsie getting into trouble via his clumsiness. While I love the illustrations and the relationship between the characters, it really feels like two separate books. Despite this small setback, I think most children will enjoy the illustrations and the sweet message of accepting yourself for who you are.
'This is a Whoopsie' by Andrew Cangelose with illustrations by Josh Shipley is another fun book like 'This is a Taco.'
This time around, the book is about a clumsy moose named Whoopsie. He is the star of the book, but he keeps thinking they should have picked a less accident prone moose. He has a cheerleader in the form of a little blue bird named Bird. When Whoopsie trips on a log and causes all the letters to fall down, he tries to fix things with pretty funny results. Taco even finds a way to make a cameo.
It's a cute silly story. The lesson at the end is good. It's ok to fall down as long as you always get back up again.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Lion Forge, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
A companion book (of sorts) to This is a Squirrel Taco, Cangelose and Shipley again pull out all the stops on this very funny tale about a moose is one big klutz.
This "informational" book about moose turns into a knee-slapping book of slapstick as Whoopsie (a moose) and his friend Bird try to put a sentence back together after Whoopsie has tripped over it, leaving the letters in disarray on the page. After assembling some ridiculous sentences, they realize they enjoy sharing funny stories about Whoopsie's escapades of tripping and falling down.
The simple text of this story can enjoyed by very young listeners. Although it is not complicated, the humor may need to be explained on its first reading. Josh Shipley's digital artwork is well-matched to the text -- light with a bit of whimsy.
I received this book as an advanced readers copy due to our love for This is a Taco! Andrew Cangelose does it again with a classic picture book and another well life lesson. The drawings and illustrations in the book were so creatively done and beautifully executed that you can't just help but to fall in love with Whoopsie and Bird. Also, we enjoyed the little Taco cameo near the end. The children went wild when they saw Taco and they very much liked Whoopsie and Bird and the life lessons they told in this book. This book definitely will have its place on our shelf and that is why we are giving it 5 stars!
This book was adorable. Even as an adult, I found it an entertaining read. Whoopsie may not be as great as the other moose at showing you some things, but he has special characteristics that are all his own, showing you that no matter who you are, you have something to give this world.
If you are looking for cute books for little kids, or just want to read one, this is a great choice.

Author: Andrew Cangelose Publisher: Diamond Book Distributors Publication Date: 16 Oct 2018
I love picture books where the character in the story interacts with the book, and I really enjoyed Andrew Cangelose and Josh Shipley's previous book, This Is a Taco! I didn't find This Is a Whoopsie! as charming as that first book, but I still got a kick out of it nonetheless. I was especially partial to the friendship between Whoopsie and Bird. I also appreciated the positive message of finding what you're good at and valuing yourself.
I received a digital ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.
I loved This is a Taco. I encouraged my friends to my book and still giggle when I think of it. This book didn't make me laugh, it broke my heart and I can't wait to buy my own copy. While this isn't as funny, I love this book as much as This is a Taco. The story about a clumsy moose just has my heart - I can't explain it any other way. I can't wait to sit with my nieces and nephews and share this story. I may even make my adult son sit through it because it is such a beautiful story.
My 6-year-old son and I read so many animal facts books so this book was enjoyable in its creativity. This is an animal facts book which is subjected to the clumsiness of our friend the moose. The moose accidentally trips and scrambles all the letters. It was fun to watch the most try to put the facts back together a la anagram. But I also enjoyed seeing the strength of friendship between the bird and the moose, together their friendship and determination is what makes this an enjoyable read.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The title made me think it was just going to be a quick, silly read.
I ended up really enjoying the various moose facts intermixed with the plot of the story. It made for quite an enjoyable read for myself and my five year old daughter.

*Got this book courtesy of NetGalley* That's for sure the shortest book I've read this year, but it's also most adorable one. Here's Whoopsie, a young moose, who isn't great at it. He falls a lot, can't jump and is smaller than other moose. He also has a best friend - a cute little bird. Even though Whoopsie falls often, he always gets up, which is a great lesson for readers. I love Whoopsie!
This is a charming book that breaks the fourth wall and invites interaction. Whoopsie is a clumsy moose, and the first 1/4 of the book offers all kind of nonfiction facts about moose. The second portion is whoopsie getting all mixed up as he falls down and learning to accept himself the way he is.
Similar to Cangelose's This is a Taco, Whoopsie is a clumsy moose that just doesn't really fit in with the other moose and feels a bit inadequate. But with the help of his best bluebird friend, he discovers there is an upside to his downfalls. A cute little moral-of-the-story book.
Disclaimer: I received this book as part of a Book Riot giveaway. I have absolutely zero experience reading books with small children. I have no idea what kids like these days.
This starts a bit like a non-fiction children's book starring Whoopsie the clumsy moose. It has cute illustrations and quickly devolves into a giggle-fest when Whoopsie does what he does best...falls. The kids enjoyed it. The illustrations were cute, and giggles ensued. A good book by our standards.
