The Master Tutor covers a research-based curriculum for training tutors. It uses state-of-the-art strategies and techniques that evolved from observations of 100% of tutor-tutee interactions as part of a 2-year research project at 15 colleges called The California Tutor Project.
If you read only one chapter, go with chapter 2, the Tutoring Cycle, and get a feel for the steps in a session. I intend to incorporate the advice given here in my sessions as soon as I am able. The types of interactions in chapter 4 are also good and give a good idea of how banter within a session might work.
Formatting in the Kindle unlimited edition was atrocious. Luckily the book is short.
