Mic Looby ve svém debutu přináší svěží, ironický, a k popukání zábavný příběh o zrazených ideálech a korporátní nenasytnosti. Až po přečtení této knihy znovu otevřete cestovního průvodce, už navždy budete umět číst mezi řádky.

A satirical novel about guide book writing by a former Lonely Planet author? This book had the potential to be clever, hilarious and spot-on, perhaps in the way The House Of God is to the medical profession, however, sadly, Looby has blown it. Having traveled six continents with the Lonely Planet I was looking forward to reading about some great travel / travel industry cliches and absurdities woven into a rollicking tale, but alas, this book is so badly written! Many scenes and dialogue that would be funny if actually included and fleshed out are missing entirely, with only a brief summary in past tense of what has just occurred before the story moves forward, as if Looby realises he is not up to the task of writing the scenario, and thus must leave it up to the reader's imagination, with only a few retrospective details providing pointers as to what we should imagine. The characters are oligo-dimensional, the story is largely uninteresting, and, in the complete absence of humour, ridiculous (not in a good way). Overall this book is disappointing waste of time.

Awesome read and really, really funny. It's about a young woman guidebook writer called Mithra who has to go and replace an old guidebook writer. In between the giggles, there's so much in there that got me thinking. There's some amazing stuff about the ethics of travel and the environment. The guidebook company is called SmallWorld...I love it. I think a lot of people are going to get a kick out of this novel. Five stars!
