Studying art in the Paris of Picasso, Proust, and Stravinsky, Clayton Peavey, an American, gets caught up in a plot to sabotage German preparations for World War I
Published in 1981, it is an old-fashioned style adventure story. I enjoyed it.
Set in the early 1900s, on the eve of the great war, the historical background is interesting. A young American Clayton Peavey is in Paris and becomes embroiled in a web of European intrigue. The adventure takes him across Paris, to the South of France, to Morrocco, and into Alsace.
This adventure story also teaches elements of history from the pre-great war era. I was surprised that, despite the accolades for Stephen Glazier, as a gifted you novelist "from whom more will be heard", I couldn't find any other novels by this writer.
An engaging adventure tale told in an old style but enjoyable regardless.
