About the author

Helena Stone can’t remember a life before words and reading. After growing up in a household where no holiday or festivity was complete without at least one new book, it’s hardly surprising she now owns more books than shelf space while her Kindle is about to explode.

The urge to write did come as a surprise. The realisation that people might enjoy her words was a delightful shock. Now that the writing bug has well and truly taken hold, Helena can no longer imagine not sharing the characters and stories in her head and heart with the rest of the world.

Having left the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for the peace and quiet of the Irish countryside she divides her time between reading, writing, long walks, and her part-time job in a library. A grown-up daughter and her ever-loving and patient husband make sure she occasionally takes a break too.

Hector Kelly has returned to Dublin after ten years in London. On a night out at the Dark Cellar, a BDSM club that he used to frequent, he meets Amber, a young woman on her first visit to the place. He's captivated by her, and she's intrigued, both by the reality of what she's seeing in the club and the older man that shows her around. After they encounter each other again Hector and Amber start a relationship, but Hector is overly concerned about the nearly twenty year age difference between him and 21-year old Amber.

It's been a while since I've read a straight-up BDSM romance between a female submissive and a male dominant. The genre can reinforce some fairly toxic romance tropes (female infantalization, male infallibility), but even in a relatively short novel this dodges most of that. It's Amber that knows what she wants, and Hector that's busy stuffing up the relationship, and overall the whole BDSM thing seems to be treated fairly well without ignoring the potential of its darker side.

I enjoyed this and will probably try the next in the series as well.

First time book from Author Stone. I enjoyed the story plot and character charisma and interaction. They had wonderful chemistry and I couldn't help routing for them to make the relationship work. Once they admitted and accepted their sub\Dom preferences their relationship reaches a whole new level of authenticity.

I spent a good portion of this story wanting to strangle Hector. Why couldn't he see what a wonderful woman Amber was and what he had right in front of him? And yet, the author did such a wonderful job making me understand where he was coming from that I couldn't just write him off. And I understood why Amber didn't either. The chemistry between them was palpable. Their journey together wasn't an easy one, but it was satisfying to watch them both grow. And the end made it all worthwhile.

I won't say more because I don't want to give away too much, but I can't recommend this story highly enough. This story was beautifully written and well-edited, the characters were interesting and believable, and best of all, there was actual realistic BDSM being portrayed. It's rare to find in books and you won't want to miss it.

You won't regret giving this story a chance.

this is an amazing may december bdsm story, the Dom has lost his love for the giggling uninitiated with the uptake of the "grey crowd" and it has put him off of the young fresh subs. Too bad he has fallen for one..Amber walks into the club on the night of her sisters Hen party and is stunned to find that all those clubs she had read about in those romance novels were real... but when she was saved from a pushy Dom by Hector she knew he was the one Man she would want possibly for all time... if only he would not hide his true self from her... this book was amazing from start to finsih and had me in tears as well as needing cold drink in other parts
