Every good girl has a dream. Grow up. Go to college. Marry their sexy, prince charming college sweetheart. Find the perfect corporate job. Start a family. Own a big house in the 'burbs with a white picket fence. But guess what, PROJECT HOES got dreams too. Darnisha Johnson, a single mother of two, and a temporary custodian to her niece wants to live life in the fast lane. Tired of being a struggling broke bish, living in one of the worse housing projects in Chicago, Darnisha comes up with her "boss bitch come up" plan to escape her dreadful living conditions. However, her plan doesn't involve her going back to school, getting an education and then landing a good job. No. This slutbag is exploiting and abusing her so-called "mentally challenged" and morbidly obese niece to collect government assistance every month. Not giving a crap about her niece's condition, the manipulative mother, and aunt, schemes to get out of the projects and to a new apartment building in Downtown, but when her plan goes awry, she finds herself back at square one. Still determined to get out, she eventually rekindles a relationship with Tahmir, aka King T, a former trap boss, who recently gets out of prison after a serving a long bid for narcotics trafficking. Hoping King T would reclaim his street glory, she quickly realizes he's a changed man and has no intention of getting involved in the dope game. He comes into her house, gets her in check, and begins to mentor the abused and so-called "mentally challenged" niece, helping her transform. Within a summer, the niece goes from a stuttering, low self-esteem having girl into a vivacious, bold, and confident young teen determined to make her way out the hood and go to college. Not liking all the rapid changes Tahmir is bringing to her house, Darnisha begins to conspire to put an end to all of the "positive changes". Since Tahmir is fully aware of all her dirty secrets and scamming skeletons in her closet, Darnisha needs to get rid of him ASAP. She plots and executes a brutal plan that lands Tahmir behind bars, HOWEVER, her niece, onto her BS, finds out about her evil machination and plans to get the sweetest revenge. Well, what can I say. This author is the king of catchy titles and beginnings. DNA at 4% because there were too many phrases I had to reread several times to understand. I really wanted to know more about Darnesha’s story because I know people like her for real. I wanna know what makes them tick. We see horrible mothers all the time, and I’m here for it. I just couldn’t get past the ratchet language, although the author has an expansive vocabulary. But hey, this is just my opinion. I know plenty of people who say this book is everything, so I recommend you judge for yourself because you might enjoy it.
Omg when I say this book has had me in tears I truly mean it! Never a judge a book by its cover meaning you never know what people are going through or capable of based on what they look like. Darneisha deserved what she got but the ending had me tore up too because regardless of a persons past dosen’t mean they can’t change. I’m so proud and happy for Tasia(back then didn’t want me now in hot they only on me) she is resilient and achevied everything she said she would even with so many doubting her! I’m ready to read the next installment!
I loved this book. It was very inspirational. The book illuminated the fact that Karma is indeed real. People do reap what they sow like the Bible states. It also shows that one can accomplish anything if they believe that they can make the impossible possible. The only thing I disliked about the book was the unrealistic facets in some of the chapters, which is why I gave it 4 stars.
Darnisha is trying to get out of the ghetto. Rather than doing it honestly, she's exploiting and abusing her niece Tasia. When an old flame Tahmir comes to live with her and insists on treating Tasia decently, Darnisha puts her nefarious plans in motion because nothing can get in the way of a project hoe's dreams.

Anything for a come up.. anything but loyal.. selfish... she should do better than pump out her son then falsely accuse her boyfriend, mistreat her niece. Good book going to ready book 2 now...

This book was so real to me I thought I was there. It was full of detail and action packed. The author didn't drag anything out and kept you on your toes from beginning to the end. Great read.
Good book crazy and scary at the same time. Can't wait for part 2Quan Mill is you a beast on these books. My reading group will also be leaving a review.
Project life was a bitch and her name was Darnisha. The author painted a clear picture for the reader in this story. You felt the disgust, the pain, the jealousy, and the betrayal. The lengths that D went to in order to "secure the bag" was unbelievable.
