Ten years ago, Rowan Gray’s father didn’t return from a routine day at work. The police believed he accidentally drove into a nearby lake thanks to inclement weather, but no sign of him or the car he was driving was ever found. Now, Rowan Gray is a photographer on a cruise ship. She’s in love with the head of security Quinn Davenport, and living a life she never thought possible. Things are going well … and her father is back. Paul Gray is going by another name but he’s a guest on The Bounding Storm, which happens to be hosting a group of high-profile authors from across the world. And, yes, Rowan’s father is among them. The reunion process doesn’t exactly go smoothly, especially when the most famous author in the bunch turns up dead. Julia West wasn’t a pleasant woman, but she had a legion of fans. The problem facing Rowan and Quinn is they can’t figure out who’s to blame. Was it one of the other authors? An errant fan who somehow snuck on board? Or the diabolical enemy that forced Paul Gray to abandon his only daughter a decade before? The stakes are high as the truth comes out. The only thing that’s absolutely certain is that Rowan and Quinn’s lives will never be the same again … if they can hold onto their lives, that. Nothing is a given in this brave new world.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Rowen Gray is a young woman with a unique ability. She is also a professional photographer. She went to college and became a photo journalist for a number of years in Detroit until newspapers stopped using staff photographers And laid most of them off. She went looking for a new job and got a job as a photographer on a cruise ship. She now cruises the seas taking photos of travelers on their vacations. Since she was a child Rowen has had a unique ability to see omens in her photographs. A death omen if someone is slated for death. She can occasionally Intercede and stop it from happening but not always. Recently she started seeing a new woman that implies danger. A couple of weeks before her graduation of high school her father disappeared without a trace. Her mother had passed away a number of years before that leaving Rowen on her own in a strange world. after a decade long absence she met an uncle she did not even remember and found out her father is still alive. Readon and see if she gets to meet your father this time or is there more games in mishaps going to happen. Always lots of mystery adventure and entertainment.
Rowan's finally getting her wish it's time for her father's visit. She's not sure how he has tickets as it's a private trip for a writer's conference, the bank manager and dad she remembers will have a lot to explain because he has to have booked at least 6 months earlier; way before she found Uncle Nick.
When he strolls onboard, however, she completely looses track of him when screams rend the air and she rushes to help. A maid has seen a body laying in a linen basket that was in the elevator. The basket has descended and a cursory inspection finds nothing. Quinn thinks that the bellhops are back to playing pranks on the new staff and Michael insists that they sail.
Regrettably the body resurfaces in the laundry room and the hunt is on for the killer of Julia West, a grand dame of romance and author of a worldwide hit bondage tale.
Julia wasn't popular, and there's a plethora of candidates with reason to want her dead but Quinn's having to start the investigation without his able helper as Rowan's father starts trying to explain why he left and a bereft Rowan is an emotional wreck.
Missing a day, they've also missed the omen which is now on another of the 4 grand dame's.. can Rowan and Quinn balance searching for a murderer with searching for the truth about her dad's disappearance 10 years ago.
Father finally shows up, but mystery leads the story
Rowan's father finally shows. There is an author convention on board and a murder before they leave the docks. You learn about Rowan's fathers reasons for disappearing, but not too much unfolds in the evolving arc. The book focuses on the murder investigation and switches between the investigation and the dynamics between Rowan, Quinn and her father. The mystery was OK and Rowan's father is engaged in the investigation which makes the story flow. I look forward to the last two books to see how the series arc wraps up.
It was great to finally get some closure on Rowans dad. The mystery was complex, interesting and much more entertaining than the last book. I really fell into the story and characters. I am again looking forward to the next books. The Pheonix Society sounds like a great antagonist. Quinn has stopped being so wimpy lol. Both characters have grown in good ways. If you like Lily Harper Hart books you will love this one. Are these authors based on real people?? Which one is Hart? Is this a true glimpse into the publishing world???
Rowan and Quinn are off on another high seas adventure full of murder, mystery, drama and fun but then what do you expect when this cruise is full of Authors, those creative types can be just a tab overly dramatic.
Rowan also has the added stress of knowing her Father will be on the cruise, the man who abandoned her 10 years ago and let her think he was dead!!!! What is a woman supposed to say to the man who left her thinking he was dead? Oh, the drama but it certainly adds zest to the story.
A creative mystery with a good plot and some ingenious twists.
In this book we finally get some answers regarding Rowan's father disappearance. besides that a group of famous and not so famous authors gather for a conference on-board the ship. Tragedy strikes when one of the most hated authors dead body is discovered in a laundry bin. The suspects for the murder are numerous. How will Quinn and Rowan discover the culprit when the authors real names are unknown? Rowan gets to meet her missing father on the ship. Will.she get the answers she needs before the cruise ends? Fab read and eagerly anticipated.
This book starts a little slow and stilted... given how many books this author puts out and the speed at which she writes them that’s completely understandable!!! Don’t give up on it though; the story gets deeper and has some interesting twists. It isn’t as good as I normally see from this author but it’s still good compared to 90% of other books. Worth the read for sure!
Book 7 starts off with a bang. The ship is filling up with authors and one shows up dead right off the bat. Another huge surprise happens for Rowan and the team starts investigating right away. No one liked the victim so the all the guests are suspects. On top of murder and mystery, there is humor, loads of angst, danger, and a new awareness of her "gift". Highly entertaining.
Rowan finally meets here father and is able to get some much needed answeres. She and Quinn are a awsome as always, they make a great team. I love the irony of this story line as well. I cant wait for more. Love this series and every other book by Lily Harper Hart. Looking forward to the crossovers.
I love love all of Lilys books! This one is just like the rest AWESOME !!!!! I can't wait for the Ivy and Rowan book! But I'm the meantime this one has a great mystery to solve. You got me on this one, I didn't get it til just a half page before Rowan said it!!! Nice conclusion!!!!
This was much anticipated from the beginning; learning of her father that went missing and what that means in a future story. It was a great book and I'm looking forward to seeing how this story will continue to unfold. Hated the book to end but happily have another Rowan story with Ivy waiting to read. Yay
This is probably my favorite of the series. Rowan was less needy and it gave a lot of answers to all the questions we’ve had for 7 books. I always like when that happens. Also, the killer was a little bit of a mystery. I always like it when it when I don’t guess the person or their motive.
This book in the series has some of the answers that we have all been eager for. The setting, a cruise ship full of authors, is the best one for hiding in plain sight. Add in a murder before the ship has even left port, and you have a magnificently fun read.
This was another winner. I have read over 200 of this Author's books. I highly recommend allOf them. She writes at least 20 different series and writes under other names but all of them are great. They are all paranormal mysteries and the characters are great. Her storylines are wonderful. Diana Romano
Our understanding of Rowan and her father is deepened on this voyage that features an author conference at sea, some diva authors, a murder mystery of course, and more on Rowan's "gift."
So many questions but the answers are here an dim e,cited for the next installment. Lily harper Harthas a gift for writing great stories and Dangerous Seas is definitely one of them. I stayed up late because I HAD to finish this book.
A missing father for years, a dead body, an unknown sister, famous authors all on a cruise what could happen? You'll be surprised. Mysteries to be solved and maybe even a happily ever after. A good afternoon read.
Rowan and Quinn are a great team and couple that solve murders and try to prevent them on a cruise ship, so it’s always interesting and inventive. I love the setting, the plot and the dialogue.
This one was interesting, and I enjoyed learning about Rowan's dad, but I will say that this was a bit frustrating. I was annoyed with Rowan at times, although I understood it, but still it was annoying. Other than that, I liked this one a lot. And I'm really super excited for the next one!
At last!!!! We finally found out why Rowan's dad "left", not the scenario I imagined. I am very excited to see where this story is going to go from here. Nice twist with the murder mystery, it was actually a little sad. Can't wait to get started on the next one.
I’ve listened to the first six books in this series. This is the first kindle book in the series i’ve Tried. While it was good because I wanted to find out the mystery of Rowan’s father I prefer the audible books.
I really am enjoying this series. I especially like the addition of FBI Agent Alex Masters. I'd like to see a series with him as the central character. As for the other, I always love the romance in this author's books. I have two more to go, and I'm going to hate to see it end.
As always, I love the way this author writes. I love the humor, and I love that we are finally getting to the heart of Rowan and what happened to her father.
I enjoyed this book a lot and I liked how Rowans father was included in the story. I was curious about that, since I already read the later series and knew he was in the picture there.
