Sweet Spot

Rate this book
Our first meeting as neighbors was screwed from the start.
He was hot. I was naked. And we had no chance in hell at ever being platonic.

I’ll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going ten years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I’m now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I’ve had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates and no sex. For the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy.

At least it was.

Until he came along.

Lukas Hendricks. He’s rude, gorgeous, arrogant – a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He’s everything I know to avoid but there’s no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub – mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed.

And then I locked myself out.

In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me?

I was – for the first time in years – about to be screwed.

***4 STARS***

Sweet Spot is the first book in the Irresistible Series and it is sizzling hot. Lia is starting to live her best life in New York after getting out of a disastrous long term relationship. She is working her dream job as a baker and found the best apartment to rent. Her landlady Tess is away and in the meantime her brother Lukas stays in her apartment. Lukas is gorgeous and cocky and immediately attracted to Lia. It could be the fact that the first time they meet Lia is just out of the bath in a hastily tied robe.

Lia and Lukas’ relationship starts out as physical and develops into more. Lukas presented as quite the alpha gentleman and Lia presented as sweet and quiet but strongly attracted to her new neighbor. When they get together fireworks explode and love grows. I enjoyed reading their story especially with Lukas’ jealousy and possessive streaks at times.

I highly recommend.

When I heard Stella Rhys was coming out with a new book, I knew I had to get my hands on it immediately! I fell in love with her writing when I read her last novel, Ex Games. If you haven’t already read that one, you totally should! You won’t regret it, and you definitely won’t regret reading this book either. Sweet Spot lived up to my expectations in every possible way!

Lia Pope enjoys living in her quiet little apartment all alone. One night, while trying to take a relaxing bath, she hears a commotion in the hallway. Thinking it was her neighbor needing help with her key AGAIN, she tries to ignore the noise. After hearing a loud crash, she runs out of the house in her robe to come to the rescue. Instead of running into her neighbor, she runs straight into her neighbor’s brother’s hard chest. He is the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, but when he informs her that he is moving into his sister’s apartment for a while, Lia is not happy. She just knows that a guy that looks the way he does with his cocky ass attitude is probably going to be bringing a new girl home every night at which time she will have to listen to his sexscapades through the wall.

Lukas Hendricks was amused and turned on when his sister’s neighbor came out to help him in the hall in nothing but a wet bath robe. When she tries to tell him about the quiet that is expected in the building, he quickly informs her that he owns the building and will be doing anything he wants in it. Lia sees her life as she knows it crumbling as the words come out of his mouth. He tries to lighten the mood by offering to make their inconvenient encounter up to her, but she refuses. She just wants him to leave her alone.

Lukas couldn’t stay away from Lia if he wanted to. She is beautiful, strong, and hardworking. All things that really do it for him. After some pursuit, they wind up sharing a passionate kiss in the hallway, but Lia wants to forget all about it. She is busy trying to start her own truffle company, and Lukas is exactly the kind of distraction that she doesn’t need.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to assume that eventually she can’t resist him anymore, and they finally get together. How does it happen? What kind of man is Lukas, and what does he do for a living? Is there more to him than sex appeal, or is Lukas the manwhore that Lia assumed he would be? Will Lia’s dedication to her business get in the way of them having a relationship? To find out the answers to all of that and more, you are going to have to read the story for yourselves!

I will tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The story is sexy and fun, but the author weaves in a more emotional storyline as well. At first, I thought I was just getting this hot story about two neighbors falling into bed with one another, but it was more than that. The characters had depth, and their backstories pulled on my heart strings. I have to admit that I even teared up a few times. Despite that, the story didn’t feel weighed down by that at all. It was balanced to perfection, and that is what I love most about this book and Stella’s writing. Not to mention, the sex scenes are scorching!! I thought my kindle was going to catch fire!! I’m not even joking. I really appreciate a well written sex scene, and there were plenty of them in here. To top it off, Lukas is a dirty talker! Thank you, Stella, from the bottom of my pervy little heart!

Bottom line, Sweet Spot is a fantastic book that I think everybody that enjoys contemporary romance should read! The story is engaging, steamy, and emotional without a whole lot of angst. The characters are well developed and three dimensional, and the romance is hot as hell! If you are a fan of the author’s writing or just romance in general, pick this one up immediately! You will be happy you did!

Wow. Omg wow. I seriously love Stella Rhys’s books. I was kicking myself all the way through this book because I stupidly started it when I didn’t have a day off. So I kept having to put it down and go to work. And lord knows that 30 min lunch breaks isn’t long enough to read!

I was hooked from page 1. The way Lia and Lukas met was hilarious. I honestly can’t remember a time when I loved the first meet as much in a book. I could easily picture what was going on and a) I was glad it wasn’t me and b) it was hilarious.

It seems to be a theme with my reviews to include this particular gif, and it’s true for this book as well…the chemistry between Lukas and Lia was AMAZING.

I loved that it had been forever since Lia had been into a guy, and that she was going out of her way to avoid getting caught up in something with Lukas. It was just great to see him chase her to give him a chance. Seriously, when he showed up on her date….priceless! And I loved the way he claimed her.

Stella Rhys is really great at writing characters I hate. There were a couple in this book that were awful, and left me wanting to shove them off a cliff. One of them was Noelle. OMG. I loathed her. I actually hate that she quit Lukas’s company because I really wish he had fired her. The way she used him, and the way she treated him and Lia….

And don’t even get me started on Cam. OMG. When he threatened Lukas and Lia…Let’s just say I was feeling all:

I have to say though, even though I hated Cam, I loved how protective Lukas got when he found out that Cam approached Lia. And I loved how he claimed her and told her point blank that she was his.

I won’t go into detail, but I have to say that everything surrounding Wyatt just broke my heart. And I loved the scene where Lukas told Lia about him and what had happened. I loved how she was with him and how she made that day better for him.

This book was everything I could have wanted in a book. Once Lia and Lukas got together, they stayed together. That’s not to say that they didn’t have their issues and doubts, but there wasn’t a time when they broke up because of a misunderstanding or anything. They were a team. I seriously loved how Lukas stood up for her, how he was protective of her and how he wanted to take care of her. And the same goes for Lia and how she was there for him. This book was seriously amazing and I can’t recommend it enough!

➳Becoming neighbors was not something that they expected, but becoming lovers was something that they never in a million years saw coming. Both Lia and Lukas indulged, in a way that makes you fall in love with not only their chemistry, but their initiating love story and their end of it…

➳Having a neighbor was never something that bothered Lia. However, when she sees that her next door neighbor is going away on vacation and lets her brother stay for the mean time at her place, Lia never expected to receive the presence of a look a like towards a greek God. Lukas never realized that feeling possessive over someone he JUST met was something that would over take his mind and body. Wanting to pleasure Lia is the main goal for him, and if some other a**hole does the job that is requisite of him to do, then he has failed at everything that is anything. Lukas not only wants to own Lia’s body, but he has somehow drawn an emotional attachment to her way of moving around and thinking. Lia on the other hand is not looking for her heart to be broken with Lukas’ magic ways of using swooning mechanisms.

➳Overall, this story was such a lustful and emotional ride that I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for something to spice up your appetite. I am hoping that Stella Rhys enhances this book as a series by introducing Julian and Emmet, friends of Lukas’.

4.5 Well, That Shocked the Hell Out Me Stars

You know the feeling when you are minding your own business and then something out of left field takes you by surprise... That feeling of - Wow how did I not see that coming....Well, that was what happened to me when I started Sweet Spot by Stella Rhys the other night.

Yes, I started this book at the crazy hour of 11PM and it held me until my eyes were dropping and I couldn't keep them open any longer...With only a few hours of sleep, my mind kept going to this book while I was at work. Once home, fed and relaxed..I was back reading until the end...

And I was impressed for a number of reasons...

From the start, I was drawn in by the very clever opening. All of the necessary ground work was laid...I understood from the get go who these characters were, their humor, comfort level and insane attraction to each other. Was it quick... yeah... but at the same time... For me I was a willing participant.

Each of these people had careers; they were fully formed and focused in what they did and mostly wanted in their lives, professionally.... He was more established then her... but both very capable.

Each had their friend support system and the interaction of concern, kidding and care worked. These secondary characters made me curious and after finishing the book, I wanted to know they will have other stories coming... focused on them.

The progression of the relationship had a sense of what could actually be...lustful, scared of what feelings were surfacing, fun, hesitant, resolved in protecting the heart and then realizing what all of it meant.

And when I mentioned Lustful...I am talking some very hot, very sexy encounters...mental foreplay...blatant want from both; with him awakening her to ask for what she needed and him realizing what she gave him.

But what was the surprise attack for me was the intense heart of it all... both of these people had past traumas which both could understand...I was truly moved by what each one had experienced and it gave real weight to the story.

And for me a non angsty gal...it was the way these two were able to handle everything without over the top drama or jumping to conclusions which I appreciated...

So although I haven't really given you anything specific about the actual story..
I would say if you like:

Banter & Hotness...
When two people are connecting and it really works
And some very sexy times which will make you think of your apartment hallway differently...

Then give it a go...I am very glad I did. Now I just need to catch up on my sleep.

DNF. Nope. Not into man whores who have sex with multiple women they can’t even stand ESPECIALLY when they are subordinates to him in the workplace. I wouldn’t give this guy the time of day. How can you believe the main female character is special if this guy has absolutely no discernment in the first place?
I am also not into authors writing secondary female characters who are vacuous, petty, empty headed sluts. Women can be as promiscuous as you like but I can’t abide the mean-girl with no redeeming qualities side character. I’m over it. Find another tool for building conflict authors.

After ten years of being stuck in an unhealthy relationship, Lia Pope was finally ready to move on. With a new city, came a new hope for a brighter future especially with her chocolate business about to kick off, so the last thing she needed was a distraction from an irresistible new neighbor.

Lukas Hendricks barged into her life at the most inconvenient moment. With his good looks and sometimes infuriating personality, he planted himself into her life. But both of them would have to face their past for a future together.

My reading usually involved dark or in the feels kind of books. But once in a while I do need a break from all the "bad things" and enjoy something light - provided it's sexy. Well, this book certainly fit the bill.

I’d never felt it before and I normally hated the unfamiliar but I was pretty sure I didn’t hate this. I was pretty sure I loved it.

I like how Lia was driven. After not putting herself first for years, she finally doing something for herself and she did it all in her own.

She was my distraction from the darkness – the complete shitstorm that should be my life right now.

Lukas was sexy. He had some caveman tendency but nothing too much to make him annoying. I like how he had nurturing quality despite a certain aspect of his life.

I love how they met. It was funny and cute. The story was smooth sailing from beginning to end. Personally I'd like a bigger conflict, but that's just the emotional pain whore in me talking haha!

My nails clawed against my door, my naked breasts shaking in front of me as Lukas growled against my skin, his fingers fucking me so hard my orgasm took barely a second to mount.

If you love food and sex (which sane woman doesn't hmm?? Lol!) there were plenty of those in this book. It surely would satisfy both needs. Mmm... yum!

Sweet Spot is a fun, sexy story of two people helping each other to move on from their past. It would appeal to readers looking for a light, easy reading.

~4.5 SWEET STARS~
"She was like a drug. She soothed and calmed me down and had me thinking crazy thoughts at the same time."
description

Sweet Spot is a stand-alone contemporary blend of smoking hot passion and sweet (and tender) romance. When Lia Pope meets her new smoking hot neighbor Lukas Hendricks, she simply cannot resist having a taste! (And then some!)

description
"Look at how fucking sexy you are. Look how you fucking spoil me with those beautiful tits."
Lia Pope has spent a good portion of her life taking care of others. After finally removing herself from a toxic relationship, she has one goal, and that is to find success with her booming chocolate business. Settled in her new apartment, Lia has given up on men and given 100 percent to her business. However, when Lukas Hendricks appears across the hall, everything changes.

description
"Lukas crashed into my life.
It was so quiet it hurt my ears, and it was so still I could feel a panic starting to rise in my chest."
Lukas is a successful businessman who doesn't have any problems meeting woman. Happy to party and enjoy life, he is shocked silly by his cute new neighbor Lia. Convincing Lia to give him a chance, however, is more than he ever bargained for. As Lukas and Lia get to know one another, the attraction is intense and swift. Soon after the physical connection forges, both Lukas and Lia are pleasantly surprised by the friendship that begins to form. But when the demons from their past and the stressors of life start to close in, will these two find sweetness together forever?

description
"I swear to God, you're the most perfect thing I've ever seen."
Told in dual POV, Sweet Spot is a light and sexy read with complex characters and a creatively crafted plot. The connection between Lukas and Lia is intense and explored thoroughly as the plot unfolds. I especially enjoyed the growth each character makes along the way. The conflict that exists from all of the external forces offers just enough drama to keep things interesting between the two and blended with the smoking hot steam these two create; I could not tear my eyes away!

description

Overall, I highly recommend Sweet Spot to my reading friends who love a sexy read with strong characters. This is my second read by Stella Rhys, and I certainly look forward to reading more!

He’s like… aggressively good-looking. I swear every single muscle on his body is an attention whore. They keep flexing and rippling when all he’s doing is standing there and crossing his arms. It’s stupid.”

Lia Pope doesn't have time for a man, much less a relationship. She's spent the past three years trying to get her business up and running, despite the precarious financial situation her ex left her with, and she's not about to let another man sidetrack her dreams. Especially not her lickable new temporary neighbor.

When Lukas Hendricks experiences the ultimate meet cute with his mostly naked, dripping wet neighbor, it's lust at first sight. A serious relationship has never been in the cards for Lukas but neighbors with benefits? Hell yes! When he gets the confirmation that Lia wants him just as badly, it's on.

“You’re attracted to me, aren’t you? You haven’t been this attracted to anyone in awhile. I woke up your need to fuck, so if you’re planning on fucking someone, why isn’t it the person you actually want?” I removed her hands from my chest and held them at her sides. “Why go for your second choice when your first wants you just as bad?”

This is my second Stella Rhys book and I have to say, this woman writes a hell of a sexy couple. From the initial meeting to the playful but snarky banter to the palpable attraction, it's all hot as hell.

For me, the added bonus in Sweet Spot is a perfectly paced relationship. I've grown accustomed to stories where one or both characters declare their undying love approximately 36 minutes after meeting and I am NOT a fan. Lia and Lukas both knew where the other stood when they started their sexytimes and either deluded themselves into thinking it was anything more. Until it was.

Surprisingly enough, the only thing I wanted a little more of was angst. Maybe a little more relationship drama rama. I kept waiting for a shoe of some kind to drop and it never really did. I'm kicking my own ass for wishing for two adult characters to actually lessen their mature behavior but I could've used a smidge more feels.

After reading Sweet Spot, Ms. Rhys has officially moved on over to my auto buy list. There are three or four secondary characters (I'm looking at you, Julian and Sara) that I hope get their own sexy stories as well. This panty melting, funny book was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time.

Review
“Why go for your second choice when your first wants you just as bad?”

Lia Pope has been celibate for about three years to focus on her new business, Pope Chocolates, in a new city. She is not looking for anyone to get intimate with because she wants to prove herself through her business, so she is very career minded. Well, her efforts at celibacy are strained when she meets her apartment neighbor’s brother, Lukas Hendricks.

“Apologies in advance”
“For what?”
“Ripping your dress tonight.”
“Well, you’ve already ruined my panties.”

Their first meeting was…interesting to say the least. It stars Lia in a very wet and very clingy robe getting locked out of her apartment and Lukas checking out her…assets while she helps him open his apartment. The insta-lust is mutual leading to a one night stand, only it doesn’t stay that way. It steadily, but surely, develops into much more.

“I can’t get enough of you. I can’t sleep unless I’m holding you and I wake up in the middle of the fucking night wanting you. You’re all I think about anymore,” he rasped. “All I ever want is you.”

This book is amazingly cute and sweet! The only reason it is missing that one more star from me is because of the insta-lust, something that I am not a huge fan of. Looking past that, I enjoyed the toe-curling passion, witty chemistry, window fogging steaminess, and saccharine-like understanding that is between Lia and Lukas. I loved that Lukas understood Lia’s need to focus on her career and supported her by giving her space to do just that. Lia and Lukas both have their own baggage, but I am so glad that it didn’t create unnecessary drama in the book and that they both handled it maturely.

Right here, in this kitchen, in Lukas’s arms, I had everything I wanted and – busy days at work followed by lazy nights with the man I loved. It was mundane, borderline boring, but it was my perfect balance. My sweet spot.

Overall, Sweet Spot was the perfect combination of plot and steaminess layered with light and funny writing. Although there are mentions of a secondary character’s suicide for a very brief part of the book, the rest of it still managed to be a light read. Excited to move forward with the series!

Another good-looking womanizer, who even f*cked his co-worker/his sister's friend for the last 3 years. And she chased him coz she needed his c**k.
I guess I'm a happy one not to have single female acquaintance who would chase a man and humiliate herself beg for his c**k.

The heroine was 3 years celibate and since H's friend overheard her speaking on the phone, the fact of her celibacy and  a plan to sleep with OM to come over the H was discussed in public.
No only the H but also the others knew that the h was celibate and pathetic in lust with the H.

I guess the remaining 86% of the book could convince me that the h would never be a pity f**k, coz the H miraculously changed and fell in love with her and his c**k wanted only one woman.
And even maybe I would be proved wrong and the H wasn't a womanizer, but a sweet caring guy who collected old stamps... because I misinterpreted 14% *lol*
And maybe it wasn't that embarrassing many people knew about h's sexual past or better said lack of it.

These are my assumptions and I would never know if and how...
One of the best lost chances this year!

Audiobook review. Sometimes a good narrator can really push the story to the next level. /fans self. WOW! Lukas and Lia were both fantastic but Lukas had just that little bit extra. Tone, pitch, and pace were all strong.

The story itself was great. It had comedy, romance, steamy intimacy, a solid plot, maturity, and great characters. The prose was natural, pacing flawless, and overall, it was the full package.

I really liked the secondary characters and am eager to read the next in the series.

Safety: No others for either. Hero is a reformed manwhore. Neither are virgins. No rape or abuse.

2.5 stars. This book was just ok. I maybe read too many reviews before starting this book, because I had really low expectations. Also, I just didn’t find myself having the same issues with this book that others did. I think my biggest problem was that I didn’t feel any sort of connection between the H&h. There was a lot of sex, but the emotional connection felt forced and unbelievable.

The hero & heroine meet when he temporarily moves into her building and becomes her neighbor. There’s a pretty stupid scene where she flashes him some boob and then gets locked out of her own place. Ofc it’s lust at first sight for him and she’s immediately got a case of that typical weak body syndrome where she feels uncharacteristically aroused when he’s around. Then the heroine finds out the hero had been fucking his employee and regularly had threesomes... which she finds really disgusting for all of 3 seconds until she brushes it under the rug. Thankfully the hero doesn’t do any of that in the book. Basically the rest of the story is about them spending time together (aka sex nonstop), her growing business, and his mental issues about his little brother. It’s all a bit unimaginative, imo.

Ofc on top of all of this, the heroine has been celibate for the past 3 years and only had one partner before (with bad sex), while the hero has been manwhoring around town, having office sex with employees, and ofc those threesomes. What a stupid double standard... this is my third book by this author and all three have been similar. WHY DO SO MANY AUTHORS THINK THAT WOMEN WANT TO READ THIS SHIT!?!? And if you’re a woman who actually likes this double standard, please help me understand why?

Safe in that there are no other partners for the H&h in the book. Still I found a lot of this book pretty distasteful. TW: suicide (off page, memories)

SO GOOD!I loved reading this book. It was super sweet, light and swoony with steamy, steamy scenes. Just the kind of read i needed to escape the real world.

I love it when the main characters face their issues head on and let their hearts lead them to the right path. No unnecessary drama, although there were moments of self doubts but i just love the way they trusted each other. Lukas and Lia were hilariously cute together and i'm hoping there's more- Sara and Julian..come on, i feel it..get your jiggy on!

My second book by this author and i loved her first book. Been waiting for this one especially after that blurb. I see you going places, girl! Great job.

5 “ Lia & Lukas “ stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all I’m in love with The cover. That Guy🔥😍
Secondly, this book was so freaking hot, I’m in love with it too. It gave me so many feels, there was a smile on my face at all times. First book by this author, she has become one of my favourite. Her writing style is light, funny, sweet and oh so steamy. It just sucks you in. I am beating myself up why didn’t I read her books sooner but glad at the same too that I finally did. 😁

”What did you see?” I demanded hotly.
“Did you see anything?”
“I saw a lot. It depends on what your definition of anything is.”
“It’s - “ My lips parted but snapped shut. I meant nipple but I wasn’t about to say it. He laughed.

We meet Lukas and Lia in this book and their first meeting was both funny and hot at the same time. Lia is completely in lust with him from the first time and tries to fight off her attraction towards him thinking he’s totally out of her league. He turns out to be her next door neighbour for one whole month so there was bound for things to happen between them. She thinks he’s a manwhore which is true but there’s also many good things about him too.

Lukas is just as attracted to her. He knows he wants her from the first moment. He thinks she’s hot and cute at the same time even though she doesn’t realises it. When he finds out she is planning to fuck someone else in order to get over him (the way he finds out though, had me laughing so hard), he brings his A game and it leads to whole lot of sexy times.

The relationship starts as a one night stand between them but soon it turns into more than one night. Their attraction grows. They learn little things about each other, their past, their struggles, the good and the bad which turns into so much more while neither of them realise.

Right here, in this kitchen, in Lukas’s arms, I had everything I wanted and -busy days at work followed by lazy nights with the man I loved. It was mundane, borderline boring, but it was my perfect balance. My sweet spot.

There was so much heat in this book, you could feel it too. There sexual chemistry was off the charts. The tension between them was so palpable, I just wanted them to get together as soon as possible. And the dirty talk, it will melt your panties right off you. 🤩

The secondary characters were just as fun to watch. Julian and Sara are definitely my favourite. There wasn’t too much drama, light on angst, the romance was swoony. I was never once bored or wanted to skip any part. I haven’t enjoyed any book this much.

”Goddammit,” Sara mumbled to herself, still typing away at her office. “Fuck this stupid printer. If this printer had a life, I would end it.”

I highly recommend to this everybody. You guys need to read this ASAP. ♥️♥️

"4 HoT Stars"

This book was...

So after recovering from the hotness of this book here I am writing a review. And I think this book's name should have been "HOT Spot" because it was that DAMN...

description

I loved how their story started, and their first meeting was great. I loved this book and the chemistry was phenomenal! Lukas and Lia were pretty A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

description

It's been a while since I read a book and got so excited and devoured it so fast I was like 'The End" what the HELL?

Lukas was...

description

Trying to find the right words to describe this hot, possessive, amazing alpha male but my description is till lucking. So I'll go with, I loved everything about him from his perfect hair to the hot sculpted body, to his impressive part between his legs...and at least his manly toe nail.

description

description

description

Okay...I'll stop here with my creepy obsession with this man! And I think its obvious how strongly I felt for Lukas...And his body parts...

description

Okay, okay I'm stopping for real this time! My shamelessly has no boundaries OBVIOUSLY!

Lia was a sweet heroin. I liked her enough but there were some parts that I rolled my eyes with her but whatever Lukas was covering for what I was missing from her.

Their chemistry rocked my world so damn HARD as they were banging each other everywhere and anywhere. They just lived to FUCK each others brains out...And that gave me so much pleasure because they were creative about it...

Overall, I enjoyed this book as you can see above with the hot gifs. Loved Lukas and couldn't get enough of him or his relationship with Lia.

First book by this author. Not for me.

Look, everyone has their guilty pleasure.
Stella Rhys is mine.
I can't really tell you why I like it, I just do.
I mean hero was a disgusting pig! A sexy one, but one with the mind in the gutter regardless!
But I still liked it not because he was ready commit despite his slutty history.
But because he went to heroine asking for emotional support. He talked. He asked her to help him through an emotionally challenging time when he usually broods and is most down.
He had just turned down a "friend's" offer to help and told her talking about it is not something he does yet he goes to the heroine and does exactly that.
Weeeell...heroine might have given a little push!
No pseudo machoism of "me don't speak feeling" BS!
And then he was equally there for the heroine when she needed him the most!
Also, heroine claims she didn't believe anything the OW said, even though she left after a confrontation with the OW, it was rather her confusion about her own feelings and hero's rather than OW's BS effected her decision, and the hero actually believes her, so it was good to see a heroine with less of a trust issue where hero's magic P is involved.
But 2 stars down.
A) his kind of an ex was mentally disturbed woman who had this notion that because she helped him and his sister through a rough patch through their life, now she owns his life and has earned the spot of his girlfriend. Or she may have even helped them to begin with BECAUSE she's that mercenary and always wanted to guilt him into loving her. Not only that. Someone has compromising pictures of her, she somehow manages to blame the hero for that. She sabotaged hero's career and pins the blame on him not loving her, yet she has no loveable qualities. She has been asking payback for her help in terms of his love. That's how deranged she is. Yet he hasn't fired her, or even kindly let her go.
Business decision or personal that has to be the shittiest thing to do.
That gave her the opportunity to do mental damage to him, almost sabotage his career, gives his ex partner opportunity to do him bodily harm and almost destroys his relationship with heroine.
B) nothing is said to be done to this woman. He was angry with her. Heroine doesn't trust ANY of her BS, BUT, seriously, NOTHING?
C) the cringeworthy scenes about hero’s friend discussing heroine’s sex life.
Yeah I need my head checked as to why I even gave this 3 stars, but I did!

3.5 stars, rounded up: After having read three books of this series - admittedly out of order: Reckless (#6) first, then Now or Never (#5), then Sweet Spot (#1) - I’ve noticed the respective plots seem to follow a pattern:

1. characters instantly have the hots for one another (#irresistible)
2. the heroine’s past is soon known to the reader, whereas the hero’s tragic, heart-breaking past (which also shows his hidden depth/worth) is revealed towards the end
3. job complications that impact the relationship, followed by a mandatory but thankfully brief separation
4. reunion; proposal/marriage (pregnancy)

What can I say? It works! The hero’s past has always been a shocking revelation so far and that is more than many other romances that follow a similar formula can claim; plus, here we get irresistible heroes (my ranking so far: Adam and Iain are tied, Lukas – to be updated), strong heroines (AJ, Holland and as a distant third Lia), fun dialogue, round characters, steamy sex, and an overall not too angsty, enjoyable read which lends itself to escapism. More, please!

Afterthought: Lia, stop your fucking giggling, girl! That’s just not you. (That actually goes for all the girls here, even bitches like Rachel. Enough already!)

Other books in the Irresistible series:
1. Sweet Spot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
2. Bad Boss TBD
3. Dirty Deeds TBD
4. Hothead TBD
5. Now or Never ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
6. Reckless ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

It might be wishful thinking, but this progression could suggest Rhys is coming into her own. This first book felt not as well-rounded and polished as the final two, hence the slightly lower rating. Still, I reiterate: More, please! Bad Boss is next.

4.5 stars! I LOVED IT!!

Epic banter, sensational chemistry, SOOOOO much hotness and gorgeously romantic - and functional for the win! This book is lots of fun with a lot of heart, and is such a great read. I absolutely loved it!

Lia Pope has been intentionally celibate for three years. After a vicious break up she moved to NYC to start over and to work towards fulfilling her dream of opening her own store for the gourmet chocolates that she makes. She is on the cusp of achieving the success she has worked so hard for when Lukas Hendricks comes along.

Lukas is moving into the apartment across the hall from Lia. Gorgeous, confident, arrogant and infinitely sexy, Lukas is the epitome of everything that Lia has tried to avoid. Their first meeting is surprising, and all sorts of awkward – seeing as Lia is practically naked and then proceeds to lock herself out of her apartment – but it creates a spark of attraction and Lia’s plan for a life uncomplicated by men is about to fall to pieces.

Lukas is just as anti-relationship as Lia is, but unlike her he isn’t prepared to ignore the raging lust between them. She uses hostility to push him away, and he pushes back with his own brand of (highly sexually charged) aggression, and every interaction is simmering with snark and sexual tension.

“You haven’t fucked anyone in three years, Lia, and your plan is to fuck someone else so you don’t give into your temptation to fuck me. And if we’re being blunt here, that kind of fucking pisses me off.”
… “So what?” she huffed. “I still reserve the right to sleep with whoever else I want.”
“No.” I stepped forward. “That’s not how it’s going to work.”
“Shut up! Are you really going to be that person who’s known me a week and tries to tell me who I’m allowed to
fuck?”
“No, I’m going to be that person who fucks you and gives you want you need because you know you don’t actually want anyone else,” I muttered, walking into her despite her hands pushing my chest. “You’re attracted to me, aren’t you? You haven’t been this attracted to anyone in a while. I woke up your need to fuck, so if you’re planning on fucking someone, why isn’t it the person you actually want?” I removed her hands from my chest and held them at her sides. “Why go for your second choice when your first wants you just as bad?”

Along with all of the hotness and teasing, there is a wonderful sense of fun between Lia and Lukas, and I absolutely loved their playfulness. Their constant banter is fantastically entertaining, and the flirting and innuendo creates a wonderful dynamic.

“So, this is a date.”
“No. It’s not a date,” she corrected hastily. “It’s just…foreplay.”
I could feel the dirtiness in my smirk. “I can work with that.”

And of course when all of that UST finally reaches breaking point, it’s explosive, and so, so freaking hot! Lia and Lukas are both confident in the bedroom, and they both like a bit of dirty talk. It’s steamy and passionate, and their connection is undeniable. And soon enough, they find themselves falling into something that is so much more than what they had originally planned.

I didn’t know what we were or what we were doing and I was sure it was a bad idea.
But I didn’t know when I was going to meet another Lia.
And everything felt too damned good to stop.

OH.MY.GOD, I loved EVERYTHING about this relationship! It’s fun, it’s hot, it’s emotional, and the pacing is perfect! It’s easy and natural, and it’s SO freaking functional! Lia and Lukas are fantastic characters, they both have issues in their pasts which impact on their romantic lives, how they relate to each other and the way that they see their futures, and the full extent of it all is slowly revealed, adding a heartbreakingly emotional aspect to the story and deepening their feelings as they truly start to open up to each other. I could feel them growing closer and falling for each other, and I loved every moment of it!

“This is all I need,” he breathed. “All I need is you. No one makes me feel like this. You make me feel so fucking good, Lia. So. Fucking. Good.”

As everything starts to change, there is minimal drama and very little angst, and I really appreciated that. The opportunity was there for stupid behaviour, and I held my breath while reading to see how it would all play out, but all hail Stella Rhys for keeping things sensible and not devolving the story into unnecessary angst. The story is strong enough to not need any of that, and I love that she kept these two intelligent characters true to themselves as they figure out what they mean to each other and what it is they want without allowing anything to interfere with that.

It all ends beautifully with an epilogue that left me with a huge cheesy grin on my face, and with a great (and varied) bunch of side characters introduced, I’m hoping for more soon!

I loved it – 4.5 stars!

3.5 Stars

Based on the blurb, I was expecting a super light, fluffy and funny story, but instead a got something a little more deeper and little sadder than expected. Still, I'm not complaining as I finished this book in one night and enjoyed myself :)

Told in dual 1st person POV and standalone story with a HFN that's 3 years out.

4.5/5 stars

holy hell. I fell in love with this book and it’s characters hard and fast, it was angsty, witty and down right hilarious.

Lia Pope had been celibate the past three years to focus on starting her chocolate patisserie and building it from the ground up, not having the time or energy to waste on men after her last disastrous relationship.

When Lukas Hendricks temporarily moves into his sister’s apartment while she’s away, he immediately gets off on the wrong foot with his new neighbour, Lia. Their attraction is instant but Lia assumes that his playboy exterior will bring her nothing but pain.

As the two begin to reluctantly get to know each other, their relationship progresses. And it’s addictive, hot and so god damned satisfying. I could not get enough of their cute dialog and their relationship.

I came across this couple in the second book in this series (because I never read anything in order lol) and I was desperate for more of Stella Rhys’ writing. And as much as I enjoyed Bad Boss, this book was exponentially better.

Lia’s character development, from being shy and keeping herself secured away to bubbly and loud was so enjoyable. Lukas’ backstory was so much more serious than I expected from this story, it deal with suicide, neglect and abuse but it was woven into the story in a way that it never seemed to be for shock value or was used as a cheap plot device.

And the freaking delicious descriptions of the chocolate deserts and truffles that Lia was always whipping up? SO GOOD. I finished an entire block of chocolate while reading this to satisfy my sweets craving.

For a special treat, you should consider checking out "Sweet Spot" by Stella Rhys in an audiobook version . The easy listening of this novel is so captivating and makes for a fun read.

The characters go through a journey as they find who they really are on the inside. They share twists and turns, as well as a lot of passion. Rhys writes Susannah and Nate so well that they are believable characters who have things happen to them.

You will find you can truly relate to the characters, and you will never see the twist in the story coming. You will not be able to put this book down. Stella Rhys uses a lot of dialogue, which is a very smart way of writing. This is a very enjoyable, fun, easy-to-read novel if you are looking for something a little different.

Release Date: March 30, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
POV: Dual - 1st person
Heat: 4 out of 5
Type: Standalone - Book 1 of the Irresistible series

I fell for this author’s writing when I read her book, Ex Games. So when I realized that everyone had jumped on the Stella Rhys train, leaving me behind, I knew I had to catch up. So I one-clicked Sweet Spot and I have absolutely no regrets.

Lia Pope has been burned. Badly. Her dream was almost derailed, but she picked herself up, dusted herself off, and crafted her dream anew. Nothing was going to keep her from success. And to make that point stick, she’s kept herself to herself, meaning no partying and NO MEN!! That is until she hears a noise outside her apartment. Off to investigate, she discovers her neighbor’s brother, who is pretty hot and tempting, will be staying for the next month. How will she get any work done with him around?

Lukas has been your typical love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. He’s not a jerk, he’s just not interested in relationships. He has also been burned. Badly. After clawing his way out of the depths of hell (figuratively, of course), he has no intention of jeopardizing his success or easy life with any complications. But then his apartment is being remodeled and he goes to stay at his sister’s house while she’s out of town. How is he supposed to resist his new insanely sexy neighbor?

If you’re looking for a story with hidden depth, Sweet Spot will give it to you. My heart literally ached when I read Lukas’s back story. It is full of pain and anguish and showed him to be as wonderful a man as he appeared to be. Lia’s story was also full of it’s own sorrow and the way the author explored the history of these characters gave this story its meat. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Primarily it’s light, steamy and romantic. It was fun to see these two people fight a relationship only to find themselves in one without much effort!

SMUT-TASTIC!

Sweet Spot was a random find on my library's hoopla app, and I fell in love. I found the entire series and didn't even hesitate about downloading them.

It was love at first word spoken on my audio. Lia and Lukas were everything. Lia is a cute ass sassy baker. She's also having a dry spell - sort of. Well, until Lukas shows up in her life. He's her next door hottie for a neighbor. He's rude, arrogant, and gorgeous AF. ABS FOR DAYS GUYS!

Their chemistry was amazing. I can't say no to endless smut and it was so freaking good!! These two were so freaking easy to fall in love with. Especially with their whole first meet and greet - it was amazing. I almost died.

I will admit the little side characters were annoying twats but at least they all helped these two realize that they belonged with each other. Especially when the girls were hitting on him right in front of her. Then his ex was just a twatwaffle who deserved a boob punch or two.

Overall, I really enjoyed their happy ending and I will most definitely dive into the next book because these two were hilarious. No idea who it's about but I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Por dior y todos los santos... qué mujer insoportable. 1.5

Más de lo mismo (Hola, y seguís leyendo estas cositas. ¿Quién te entiende?).
