This cookbook is delightful and a mouth-watering read.
I had a little crisis yesterday and my beautiful (albeit 22 year-old) glass countertop burners cracked down the center. Shocked, I jolted my snoring husband, out of a sound sleep, plied the TV remote from his tightly curled fist and after I had his full attention I asked him sweetly to drive me over to a nearby shopping center to buy new ones. I could drive myself, of course, but my philosophy is that the fact that I know HOW to do everything doesn’t mean I have to DO everything. And, besides, misery loves company. …And that’s how I came to buy my Ninja Foodi OP300. I mean if I was already out shopping, I might as well go to town. As soon as we got home, I downloaded this book from Kindle Unlimited and spent the night reading the book and the operating manual (in that order).
Each recipe gives full nutritional value details, and the final chapter of the book is dedicated to useful cooking tables per ingredient type and cooking method. My model will pressure cook, sautee/sear, air-fry (air-crisp), grill and bake. It does not include the dehydrating function nor does it self-clean after each use (damn).
My first trial was the Roasted Chicken Thighs, Rice, Carrots and (I threw in a) parsnip. OMG the carrots and parsnip came out as sweet as candy. The chicken was tender and juicy inside, and crispy outside. The recipe also includes rice, to prove the point that you can make a full meal in one pot. The rice, however, was a bit of a fiasco. The recipe said 1 C rice + 1 ¼ C water – which sounded just plain ridiculous. I never use less than 1 ¾ C water to 1 C of long grain jasmine rice and sure enough the (very clever) machine cried out for water several times and I had to stop and start the machine at least three times to add water. The rice came out mushy and loaded with chicken fat, and crispy brown on the bottom – but never mind, I’ll be an expert in a week. Today I ad-libbed a variation and made salmon teriyaki on the top of the reversable rack and put rice and vegies in the bottom of the pot. This time I added what I believe to be the right proportion of water to rice and two minutes after building up pressure (no kidding) dinner was ready. I gave it another five minutes under the grill top and slightly overcooked my fish, but still it was yummy. The rice, by the way came out perfect, so I think there might be a typo in the book. Still, perfect as it was, I prefer cooking rice in the micro...I've been doing it forever that way and it comes out perfect every time and I can flavor and add ingredients as I choose instead of getting the flavor of whatever I cooked on the rack above.
The vegetable cooking tables are very useful and I made beets right after dinner. These take forever to bake or boil, but 30 minutes in the pressure cooker and they were perfect. Although I won’t be converted to making rice in my Ninja Foodi, the vegetables come out amazing. I know the soups will be perfect because I have made soup in my daughter-in-law’s Hotpot on numerous occasions. Next week I will try making a steak for my husband, apparently anything is possible! Never-the-less, I am looking for a more suitable cookbook to our palates; nearly all of the meat dishes included dairy products with no suggestions for substitutes – too many landmines for me.
The cooking methods described in the book and the size (6.5 quarts) make full course meals practical for two-four people only (more like two-three). However, the pressure cooker function is fine for cooking soups and larger family size vegetable dishes. I did not see any practical desserts that I would make in the Ninja.
I have never before heard of the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker, but it is more than just a pressure cooker! It air fries, dehydrates, plus more!
I do not own a Ninja Foodi, but I own other Ninja products of which I truly love! After reading about it's functions, the illustration of its parts and how they work, and seeing the pages of Charts I have read about it in detail, in the Complete Cookbook For Beginners, PLUS, well over 300 recipes, I am excited to try the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker!
This Complete Cookbook for Beginners has a illustration and all the parts compiled in the creation of the Ninja Foodi, and how they work. They do Pressure Cooking, Air Frying, Dehydtrating, + more!
The cookbook offers mouthwatering recipes, conversion and other charts for various usages. Plus, there are a few illustrations of completed recipes I wish there had been more illustrations.
I have an air cooker by another brand name in which I am going to try a few of the recipes. However, I am certain Ninja Foodi would have been a much better choice. My Air cooker does not do anywhere near all the things this Ninja Pressure cooker can do!
I offer a Four Stars rating Stars rating of this Cook Book. *This product was gifted me with no suggestion of a positive review. This is my honest Review.
I started off this book with good intentions. I had chicken and needed a recipe that was just chicken. As the book went on and on I tried to find out where the actual recipes were only to find page after page talking about the Foodi. Great! But I wanted a recipe. Finally I find the chicken section and pick Orange Chicken....I get the rice going in the pressure cooker while I dice up chicken and get the sauce ready. Rice done! Now this is where the recipe didn't work. It said to put the adjustable rack up, spay it with non-stick and put the chicken brushed with olive oil on it...with the rice still under it. So I did this and after 10 minutes the rice was a rice cake patty and the chicken very unappetizing. Needless to say, I changed it all up and saved the meal, but not because of a good recipe. Luckily I got it with my Kindle Unlimited subscription because it wasn't worth the money.
Loved that the book was very detailed with exact cooking times and how to complete each step using this particular appliance. I have marked / saved several recipes I plan on trying. I gave it 4 stars because there were only a limited number of recipes that were gluten free and some of the recipes were extremely high in fats and sugars. I did look over the recipes and thought in several that the only thing that appeared to make it NOT gluten free was the soy sauce. I wondered why a note that gluten free soy sauce could be used as a substitute want lists in the book. There were several recipes that looked delicious like that but no gluten free suggestions or switches were written in the book. I did save the recipes to attempt my own modification. Many, many recipes that would be easy to make and appease the entire family. Very well written.
I have been looking for a pressure cooker-like book that makes it easier to understand and transition away from 'normal' cooking. While this one has some great recipes, it did not meet my goal of almost complete transition.
Love the easy but detailed directions and recipes.
I love the step by step directions. The recipes are detailed so I can understand what I need to do. I like this a lot. I also like that these recipes are made mostly by items we usually already have in our kitchens.
Though it has 175 pages, there are only 65 recipes. 7-12 per category. If you have no idea how this thing works, this will be helpful. I did like the quick cooking times guide at the back that is more comprehensive than most you will find.
The recipes have clear instruction. This book helps me to better understand the Ninja Foodi. I am now looking forward to exploring new recipes on my own.
Has some good information especially when beginning to use the ninja foodi. Would have liked to see more recipes, the ones we have tried have been good.
It really helped me learn to use my new Foodi, the recipes could have been a lot more exciting but now I know how to approach my own recipes with the Foodi.
A great addition to all the pamphlets and booklets that came with my Ninja Foodi. Loads of helpful tips and instructions. A bunch of awesome recipes that will help me become an expert. Also charts for everything you can imagine. So excited to get cooking.
The answer to that question is a resounding, yes. These recipes are clear and easy to follow. They have enough detail to tell first-time users of the Ninja Foodi how to use it and what attachments to use to make each dish.
These easy to understand recipes list all the ingredients needed, prep time, different cook times and temperatures, detailed instructions along with serving information regarding serving size, calories, etc.
If we had a Ninja Foodi, we would take it into the kitchen of McClendon Villa and demonstrate. Perhaps we will get one soon.
