"This is the evaluation book we′ve been waiting for! A must-read for all learning and working in the field." –Amanda M. Olejarski, West Chester University Evaluation 22 Tales of Mistakes Made and Lessons Learned is a candid collection of stories from seasoned evaluators from a variety of sectors sharing professional mistakes they have made in the past, and what they learned moving forward. As the only book of its kind, editor Kylie Hutchinson has collected a series of engaging, real-life examples that are both entertaining and informative. Each story offers universal lessons as takeaways, and discussion questions for reflective practice. The book is the perfect companion to anyone working in the evaluation field, and to instructors of program evaluation courses who want to bring the real world into their classroom.
I loved this book. I was so reassuring to read the honest reflections of practitioners who I respect sharing experiences that in nearly all cased I found myself nodding my head too. I learned some new things, got some new ideas of how to handle what are repeating themes in our line of work, but most of all, just felt enourmously relieved to know we all experience the same stuff. It was like being in evaluation therapy - in the very best way.
The consistent format of the stories also helps the reader in quickly locating (and remembering) the takeaway points, and the style was super easy (and enjoyable) to read.
Thanks to all the contributors who shared their stories, and to Kylie for pulling this together. Volume 2 please!!
