Rate this book
A collection of all ages' short stories featuring friendship, self-consciousness, love, and ice.

Pink is a Distraction

Jo and Terra
Inspired by the summer heat. A slice-of-life featuring two friends at a gas station.

Play it Cool, Al
Al is hit with a reverse love confession, job opportunity, and a new perspective of his childhood friend. Of course, his defeatist attitude doesn’t help him.

Ice
There’s a rumor that Sasha has ice in her blood, and it may be the only thing keeping her alive.

Waiting for Bus 26
She is waiting at the bus stop when he strolls by with a head full of curls and a navy-blue umbrella.

Dreaded Dinner Party Prologue
Aucuria “Curi” Andrews is a homeschooled girl who’s tired of her dinner party-throwing parents. Nothing is set to change this latest party until a sabotage attempt and her parents’ reputation is challenged by a cartoonish nasty couple. It’s up to Curi to put a stop to the slander, meet some new faces along the way, such as the mischievous traveler Mister Wolfeman or ambitious Ophelia, and of course, eat some delicious food.

Destiny Henderson splashes a lot of great emotional flavor on the page in her short story collection Moody! The title is perfect because Henderson sets a great mood in each story whether it’s self-conscious, trying to put up a cool front, or just plain loving and warm. The writing is fun and the stories are meaningful making Moody great for anyone looking for a quick read!

I was immediately captivated by this book, because of the cover art and I know the author Destiny did it so that’s very amazing, but the stories and editing of the book still need a lot of work.

The stories in the books are super short! It didn’t take me up to thirty minutes to finish it, so if you’re looking for a short and quick one this book is good for you, but the length of the stories are too short and end too abruptly to really have any significant meaning to the occurrences, they just read like random things that happen, which is why I’m rating this this book a 2.5 stars the .5 stars because of the cover art.

The writing is average and didn’t really captivate or hold my attention, even though the stories brought about a lot of questions about the characters I would never know now.

I enjoyed reading Pink is a Distraction which is Keva’s story and I loathe how it ended, and the next story I enjoyed was Waiting for the Bus.

I hope in future some of these stories develop into novellas or novels. Thank you for reading my review.

Moody is cute selection of flash fiction, that show the author’s range with diverse characters and different settings. I’d mention them, but they’re already highlighted in the blurb, so I’ll just stick to a shorter review. If you like a quick read with a strong narrative voice, you’ll certainly enjoy reading this little collection! Definitely curious as to what the author has in store for their future works!
I did find the cover a little creepy, I’ll admit.

A collection of Super short stories with beautiful cover art. There are 6 stories in total. All the stories start off great but they fizzle of in the end and end abruptly. The only story somewhat liked was "Waiting for Bus 26" and somewhat the last story. Other stories just didn't work for me. Sorry

Moody - a collection of short stories, by Destiny Henderson, is a very captivating character- driven plethora of stories. Each story is unique, having a distinct touch while also having a common theme based on slice of life.

Each story has its own tone, yet they manage to stay connected to each other. Thus the short story ICE made me feel as if it went in a different direction by introducing Sci-fi, while the other stories were grounded in some form of reality. If it wasn't for that one, I'd feel this collection has interlinked stories through theme and setting.

It's a recommended read if you want a does of sweet with mundane, but if you're not into short stories this will leave you quite unfulfilled.

Short, quirky and enjoyable 3.5 stars

This is a small collection of very short stories by Destiny Henderson aimed mostly at younger audiences. The stories contain a variety of themes and are mostly single scene fragments to set a mood or tone for the characters.

In all I found this to be a enjoyable read. The writing was smooth and the characters well established even with such a low page-count to establish them. The characters themselves all had their own voice and a hinted at depth beyond the pages.

It's quiet likely I'll pick up more books from this author.

3.5 star review

This was a really good introduction to Destiny’s writing. I liked how I got to experience different sides of black and brown young people living their lives on a normal basis instead of one plot for everyone involved. I wish this was longer so I could be fully immersed in the characters’ worlds more.

4.5 ⭐

Truly a collection of short stories just like the title says and I enjoyed them!!

Play It Cool, Al – I smiled while being in the head of Al (Alfonzay Richards) and his talk with Deezy. Deezy believes in you Al!

Waiting For Bus 26 – Jacobi you slick guy! I was puzzled and smiling at how he managed to get Dria's item. The umbrella I understand for sure

Pink is a Distraction – well yea when that pink is the color for your eyes.

Jo and Terra – Somehow beyond Jovian being left out in the heat while Terra flirts, I liked this story.

Ice – This one went over my head, I'm sorry but it did.

Dreaded Dinner Party Prologue – proof why not everybody can go places. Not y'all coming to other people's house and making a scene while also intentionally destroying property. Oh no, please leave. Entertained me for sure.

What I liked:
Moody is composed of six diverse short stories. It is on the children’s genre but it’s a fun read even for adults. The book cover is charming and attractive. As for the writing, it’s easy to read and understand.

Henderson exemplifies the characters well in which you can get a glimpse of their charming personalities. Among all the short stories from Moody, Waiting for Bus 26 is my favorite. This short story is the highlight and the most fun to read for me.

Overall, I liked Moody.

What I did not liked:
I have a lot of questions on my mind after reading each short story specifically Ice. As for the whole plot of each short stories (except Waiting for Bus 26), it is not enough to keep me interested. Nevertheless, this book has a lot of potential.

Recommend or not:
I can recommend this book to those readers who are looking for short, fun, and light reading.
