Cate Dean has been writing since she could hold a pen in her hand and put more than two words together on paper.

She grew up losing herself in fantasy worlds, and now creates her own worlds, infusing them with adventure and magic.

When she's not writing, she travels to places that inspire her, having her own adventures, and reads pretty much anything she can get her hands on.

There ~ I got the official biography out of the way. I love to write, and yes, I have been doing it most of my life. I've made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember, and I’m thrilled to be able to bring those stories to life, and share them with you.

The second in the series felt a little more confident in style. It was also, dare I say it, a bit more fun once we’d stopped the moping about Sam.
Kicking off after the events of book one, Alex’s parents are understandably reluctant to let her out of their sight. She’s determined to find out what is going on and so begins the inevitable clash.
There’s continued issues for Alex to try and sort out. An awful lot of stuff is thrown at her in this, and I’m amazed she survives! She meets a few crazy characters, learns a little more about her new skills and also meets some new paranormal beings.
Everything rattles along far too quickly. Some elements of the story make little sense, but it’s developing the world/ideas well.

This book is perfect for teens. It tells the story of Alex hunting monsters and how sometimes you are better off not knowing things. Alex enlists her friends to help her although she is worried about something happening to them. But she just can't seem to stop digging into things better left alone. This exciting novel is full of action and mystery. It's enough to keep any young person's attention and drag them into the excitement of reading to the point that they won't know they've been sucked in until they realize they've finished the book.

Another 5 star book!!

I enjoyed this book and like the first book this had me on my edge of my seat and I flew through the pages!!
As I was reading this book I recognized a few characters that would be in another book by the same author so I look forward to reading those books too!
There wasn’t anything I disliked about this book and will be diving into the next book soon!!!

I found this one to be more enjoyable than the first in the series. Definitely better flow in the story and writing. And lots more action and suspense. Fun book overall.

Unputdownable

Do not --I repeat, do not -- read this book without reading the first one first. It will make no sense whatever.

Great 2nd book in a series for teens and young adults! No sex, maybe a bad word of 2. It does have a lot of violence. Enjoy reading!

Alex believes she being stalked by the devil but everything is not as it seems.
After uncovering Hyattown it seems as if nothing else could be a surprise and were they wrong.
Sam comes back but different than before and he doesn't want to stay. New characters are introduced, some good, some bad.
It seems as if some of the town has been keeping secrets, secrets they want left alone.
Alex starts receiving threats and is even attacked on the street. It appears Hyattown isn't as safe as it was supposed to be. With the group's help Alex uncovers what really happened 10 yrs ago when Jake and Sam was attacked.
I love these characters, so much so that after reading book 1 I immediately started this one and finished it the same night.

I couldn't wait to get started on this book.. The first book had raised the bar pretty high and I hoped this book would follow the pace that was set. Which it did, and more!

Although Alex had been thrown in the deep end with finding out about The Haven and all the monsters via the monster files, I think she had managed pretty well with what she was up against. I admire her loyalty to Sam/Jake and the relationship thats is building with Misty is so cute!

So this book in the series, basically dives deeper into the Haven and its mysteries. Alot more secrets are uncovered and a few new hunks were introduced.. I'm looking forward to read more about them!

On to book 3 I go! **I hope we meet some more interesting monsters! **

The story continues in this second book of the series. Finch finds her life getting even more complicated as she and the others research the history of Haven, trying to find out just what happened when the fire happened in the past.

There's more monsters (one of which is the 'misunderstood monster' type). One of the worst of the monsters is a human living for revenge and willing to kill without any attempt at mercy. Someone also doesn't want Finch to keep digging and trying to run down someone in a car is meant as a discouragement to further research.

Finch also has to deal with just how much to tell her overly-protective mother about what is going on.

So the main question is whether Finch will live long enough to solve the mystery of the fire. The book is just as good as the first.

Wow! Just wow!

This is the second book in the monster hunter series and it is at least as good as the first. In this installment we get to see Alex grow into a confident young woman who is fiercely loyal to her new friends. Much of her awkwardness disappears, but enough remains to keep her the lovable character we met in the first book. All the characters from the first book return here. I highly recommend this series.

Another Good Story

The storyline is good, grabs your interest and adds another layer to the building of this series. I enjoyed it, but just slightly less than the first book. I will start book 3 later tonight and am excited to see how it stacks up against the first two books.

This didn't get a higher rating because the audio version didn't have the climactic fight scene. I really enjoyed the rest.
