More and more Christians around the world are becoming aware it is an illusion to believe biblical Christian living s a trouble-free life. Jesus Himself said otherwise. Overcoming victory is not the removal of suffering and persecution but standing strong in the midst of it. Standing Strong Through the Storm guides you through the process and discovery of vital, biblical keys to becoming a Christian who can stand strong - and be victorious - no matter what the storm.
Standing Strong through the Storm is a training manual born out of the experience of the persecuted church throughout the world that should be read by every Christian in whatever country and situation they live in.
We need to learn that all of us may face persecution at any time, as Jesus said, "No servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me they will persecute me." This means that all Christians must prepare for persecution - it is not a case of "if" it is the case of "when."
The book comprises five sections in which it is spelled out clearly, who our enemy is, what tools we have available to ensure victory, how to develop a servant spirit so we can be salt and light in our community, understanding persecution today, and the victorious church and family.
Chapters in each section begin with the story of a Christian living under persecution in countries closed to the gospel. Topics include: combating fear; the process of persecution; God's provision; the importance of Bible memorization; prayer; the fruit of the Spirit; developing servant attitudes; perseverance and encouragement; forgiveness; myths about suffering; responding as Christ responded and; flexibility in response to persecution.
Each chapter concludes with an excellent, and challenging study guide section that contains a series of discussion questions. There are separate questions for pastors, women, youth and men that can be used for individual or group study.
The book ends with a worldwatch list of countries where Christians face persecution throughout the world; a recommended reading list; end notes; a comprehensive index and list of figures and contact details for Open Doors offices.
The book is based on previous publications produced by Open Doors with some additional information. The compilers, Paul Estabrooks and Jim Cunningham, are long-time workers for Open Doors and are very familiar with the issues faced by persecuted Christians.
