This is the complete boxed set of all three books in the Tempted series, a spinoff of the Night Series which features a carnival of the damned, a grim reaper known as Dean, and Pandora, one of the seven deadly sins also known as Lust. There is a lot of crossover between both series, but you do not need to read one to understand the other. Book 1: Forbidden Welcome to Whispering Bluff, Tennessee. Where the guys are hot. Unfortunately, one of the two ain't gonna happen. So now not only is she back in the life she can never seem to get away from, she's also met this guy who pushes all her "I totally hate you" buttons. Selene Charles is the pen name of a NY Times and USA Today bestselling author.
She is an avid penguin sweater knitter. She believes that unicorns really do exist and that skittles aren't really candy at all. She enjoys skydiving in the arctic, chatting with her polar bear friends around a warm campfire while sipping on warm cocoa, and she used to work in a travelling carnival which is where she got all these crazy ideas from. Only two of these statements are actually true.

The Night series was so much better than this one. There were several problems that really affected my stress levels while reading it. It's too bad too because if these issues were corrected, then this could be a five star book. It was strange that the author choose to follow up the very mature Night series with a YA series. That makes no sense at all. I normally avoid YA because the characters tend to be immature idiots and this story was no exception. The main character was 17 and finally 18 through the series. She was constantly freezing up and freaking out through the book at the worst times possible. She would get important information yet not tell anyone or ask questions. It was quite maddening, really. I had hoped she might grow out of that as she matured and got stronger, but nope she never did and it seriously dragged the entire story down. I also think she could have kept secrets without lying. You know telling him that she has no choice but to keep important secrets and will tell him as soon as she can. That's how mature people handle those things. There were so many other things that I was going to write about but I'm just too tired and wiped out to do it. Just know it's an okay follow up to the Night series, but be prepared for a very immature main character.
"The touch of his lips was red. His breath was blue. The sweep of his tongue was a vivid purple. A miasma of chaotic liquid color, it moved like molten lava. She melted into his touch, his kiss."
Wow! I am not a paranormal fan but this book seriously changed that for me. I am so glad I gave this boxed set a chance. I was completely entranced by this cover, and the story within it was just as consuming. It was unique and enthralling. I could not devour the pages quick enough. I could not find any complaints with the Tenpted Series if I tried. Each book only got better than the one before it. This was my first book by Selene Charles and it will by no means be my last. The authors ability to tell a story is truly enchanting. I also loved how the author made you love every single character she intorduced in some way. Sure there is always the few you don't like, but the number of characters I did, out weighed the ones I didn't. I did not see that ending coming. It was heart breaking as much as it was beautiful. This story brought so many FEELS. The angst game is definitely strong in this series. Flint and Cain definitely stole a piece of my heart. They are the ultimate power couple. Their passion and love haunts it's way into your heart. While their chemistry flows through the pages of your kindle like magic. I did not want this story to end. I could have stayed wrapped up in Flint and Cage's story forever.
"She was his compass, but now she was also his ruin."
Flint will go down as one of my favorite heroines to date! She was caring, passionate, and driven. She was a total spit fire who knew how to keep you on your toes. Flints character had a naive innocence that called to you. Yet she had a unwavering strength that left you envious. I seriously loved everything about her character. The amount of growth and development her character went through in one book was mind blowing. There honestly could not have been a better heroine for this story then her.
"And when he kissed her deeply and murmured “I love you,” she tasted eternity in his touch."
Cain was 100% pure alpha male, and I LOVED every second of it. He may have been a demon but man that beserker knew how to steal your heart. I was consumed with everything about his character. He was fierce. He was protective. He commanded your attention. While utterly dominating your soul. His love and devotion for flint had you melting in a puddle of swoons. Every word out of his mouth oozed passion and charm. To say that Cain most definitely made my book boyfriends list would be a understatement.
"When a butterfly flaps its wings in one part of the world, it can eventually cause a hurricane in another."
*5 STARS* Well earned for a hauntingly beautiful paranormal romance. This boxed set is definitely going into my best reads if 2018 folder.
I am rating this book at 3.75 stars as I really enjoyed this story but I also had a few issues with it. First what I liked: the characters were enjoyable, funny, smart, and unique. The lore within this story was unique and a fun departure from other stories. I liked the way the human world and the other world moled together and crossed lines. I loved the idea of a gothic circus as the focus or home base of the other world. It added a great element to the story line. I also just liked the story as it was light, without graphic sex, no cursing, and a clean YA read.
Now, what didn't work as well for me: there was a lot of gaps in the plot and things were not necessarily what they were stated as. One minute something within the story would be true, but in the next chapter that would change. I felt very little chemistry between the characters and it read almost bland at times. If I had to compare this bok to another, I would say it is like Twlight, but with better plot and characters but less chemistry.
Overall I thought that this was a great palette cleanser for me and was glad to have read it. I will check out more from this author in the future.
It took me awhile to get through the series. I lost my momentum after book two. I didn't know where the story was going out book two, which was Reckless. And I didn't know if certain characters were going to make it. Life got in the way and procrastination was my friend as well. I finally took the plunge and finished book three. It was an amazing conclusion to Flint and Cain's story. I loved the sub characters as well. There was laughter at times and emotionally draining moments. Everyone in the story served a certain purpose. Not just the main characters. I want to explore more of the sub characters like Dean "Death" and Pandora. Their relationship is definitely one for the books.
I cannot accurately describe how much this book will grab you. The premise is a super fresh take on an old trope and I couldn't get enough. It's heartbreaking, it's enthralling, it's FULL of anxiety ridden moments that quite literally kept me up at night reading because I just had to know what happened. At some points, it was really hard to get through because of what the MC goes through in the 3rd book. (triggers: torture and lots of it) The author does a fantastic job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and I cried when I finished it. Highly recommended for those who like high fantasy epic type story lines but not for the faint of heart. Make no mistake, this is a dark fantasy.
The book kind of sucked you in from the beginning. You have a strong female lead who doesn't seem to believe in herself but in the end she finds herself. A great male lead who is a rage (literally) and a group of friends that seem to all have a close connection. It's a great story line.
I am so happy that this amazing series is now bundled into one! From the very beginning of this storyline the heroine Flint has held me spellbound by the intrigue surrounding her and the compelling romance between Flint and Cain. An epic fantasy that left me with so many wounded emotions tempered by the power of love and a happy ending.
This was one of the best series I have ever read. I laughed at the witty comments they would make, and cried with them at there loss. I was captivated from begining and did not want it to end. I cannot wait to read another book by her.
I expected this series to be similar to the Night series, also by Ms Charles, however, it has a bit of a YA feel to it. Don't let that stop you, the characters you were briefly introduced to in the Night series are fleshed out here and awesome.
I didn't realize when i started reading this series that i would connect so deeply with the two main characters. I see so much of my relationship with my husband in Flint and Cain. It made me love the books so much more.
These stories were truly a unique read. Flint’s nearly like any other teen, but it’s the nearly that changes everything. This story keeps you on your toes & is a whirlwind of surprises.
I know it's a series... Not used to them being all in one... I think you'll enjoy it vas well. Flint is a strong character, women in a book as lead always one I will check out I definitely will reread it... Catch what I missed first time lol
Great action. Gripping from the beginning, couldn’t put it down for long. Definitely a good read Geez so many words needed. That’s all I can think to say...
Yet another excellent read from this author. I love the complicated worlds and how it links into the other set. It's a book that really pulls you in with lots of action, mystery and a good love match.
