Very interesting book about Gestalt therapy. As I read, I felt like a small child guided by the hand to the world of Gestalt :) In small but firm steps. Big respect for the authors. The reading showed their competence and deep knowledge in various fields: meditation, existentialism, group therapy, working with dreams, etc. They integrated those other fields into Gestalt therapy very nicely. As a result, the book was not thin. But this comprehensiveness didn’t overwhelm the book. On the contrary - it was very interesting and curious to read it. I really enjoyed the places with examples from therapeutic practice. I liked the explanations of the work in Gestalt therapy from a practical perspective. There could have been more information about such practical aspects. The disadvantage was that the material presented in some places was a bit repetitive. Reading the book gave the impression that psychotherapy is a serious science. But few doubts remained about its validity. Where are the studies that one or another experiment pays off to work with particular resistance mechanism? Where are the scientific evidence that the customers will improve from specific interventions? Much is built on empirical experience (as usual in psychotherapy). Overall, I feel big gratitude to the authors for their wonderful work.
