Book 5 in this Vampires-Werewolves world and book 2 of the Wolf games and I have to admit that series is getting better and better.
After the destruction of the cruise ship that belonged to IDAHO company, the survivors end up at a strange island full of dangers. Apparently the island also belongs to IDAHO company. And the headquarters of the company are situated there surrounded by zones of different monsters which make the survivors' approach there almost impossible.

If you have read the previous book, you already know that:
-IDAHO specialises in the mutations of the werewolves and the vampires and it has technology for cloning and reproducing DNA.
-Sila's dead sister body is lost in the sea.
-Although Jameson has been tricked to abandon Cass, he will not be able to kill her.
-Cass as half vampire-half werewolf is also pregnant and she ends up in the mysterious island alone.

Silas knows the dangers of the island. He can not inform his father for his whereabouts and he is very worried for Cass. Together with Jameson who feels extremely guilty for his little firefly will try to find Cass and the other survivors.

Unfortunately Ulvic and Rockley are still looking for Jameson and Cass and this adds to the dangers of the island.

The book is a nonstop adventure like a rollercoaster and includes many horror scenes. Lots of angst and breath-taking side stories with monsters that look like they are the results of nightmares. There are also so many mind games and the ultimate betrayal in the end.

There is also again an incredible cliffhanger in the end.

I really hope that next book will be published soon and that Ulvic and have the most horrible deaths.

Full Review on my blog!
*a copy was provided by the author*

Wow! I'm just blown away by this series; It just keeps getting better. I loved the first four in the series, I thought the fourth book was my favourite but this one just.. wow. I'm soo excited for the next book!

Wolf Games: Island of Shade  is the fifth book in The Vampire Games series and continues the story of Jameson and Cass. This story picks up right where the last installment left off., after the cruise ship broke, Jameson, Cass and Silas are stranded on a dangerous island and are trying to survive, which isn’t easy when Ulvic is hunting them down…The island has tons of dangers and creatures to chase and kill the survivors. The action never ends.

These characters find themselves in all different kinds of situations that are terrifying and pulse pounding. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time, and I literally devoured it in one sitting. I had to. I needed to know what was going to happen to my favourite characters. Also, I loved seeing Varick and Selena, two of my favourite characters, even if it was very brief because until this point they had no idea their friends were in danger.

It's going to be torture waiting for the next book. This one has just about everything you could hope for in a book, action, adventure, romance, vampires, werewolves. Caroline Peckham is brilliant. Such a well written and fast-paced series! I highly recommend it!

The man who smiled in the face of anything, was no longer smiling. And I had the awful, writhing feeling that it was because of me.

Cass and Jameson have finally reunited but being washed up on a deadly island with reapers isn't the best place to sort out their personal problems.

⤷ These books just get better and better! With such a creative world building! This books made me feel so many emotions and I could not put it down for a second!

⤷ It was so hard to read about the amount of pain and suffering Cass and especially Jameson was going through there was nothing he could do about it! And the fact that Cass doesn't know about Ulvic's orders so she ends up getting closer to Silas was leaving me so frustrated!

⤷ Mercy with a possible love interest? YES PLEASE!

⤷ The ending truly destroyed me and I've been an emotional mess for a few days now. I NEED the next book so badly!

⤷ Also, the cover is going me such major Poison Ivy vibes! I love it!

She was the single most beautiful creature I'd ever encountered. Those emerald eyes were drowning me. They owned my body and soul.

These books are so binge-worthy and incredible. THESE BOOKS DESERVE SO MUCH MORE LOVE!!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham!

Wolf Games: Island of Shade
is the fifth book in The Vampire Games series and continues the story of Jameson and Cass. After the cruise ship broke, Jameson, Cass and Silas are stranded on a dangerous island and are trying to survive, which isn’t easy when Ulvic is hunting them down…

Wolf Games: Island of Shade is yet again an amazing sequel. I keep saying this in all my reviews, but it’s the truth. The story gets better and better and I’m always so excited when I get an early copy! The world that Caroline’s built is so incredible and you have different kinds of creatures as well as so many plot twists!

Wolf Games: Island of Shade has again multiple perspectives which makes this book, and the series in general, so amazing to read because you get to know so much more about the characters. I really liked that we got some flashbacks from Mercy’s past and we got a few glimpses of Varick and Selena again.

The way Wolf Games: Island of Shade ended is so evil, Caroline did an amazing job and I hope she’ll finish book 6, Wolf Games: Severed Fates, very soon because I think we readers are pretty angry and need the next book!

I received a free copy of this book directly from the author Ms. Peckham. Thank you Caroline, this is my review.

I don't even know where to start with this novel. I love that Caroline never takes the story in the direction I'm thinking it could go to. I love that I am always surprised throughout her novels. I guess firstly let's start with this cover. All of the covers within this series are made by Caroline, which is an exciting feat in itself as they are always stunning. This cover is very engaging and the coloring really plays into the story inside of it.

This story picks up right where the last installment left off. I can't begin to explain the intensity in which Caroline writes. These characters find themselves in all different kinds of situations that are terrifying and pulse pounding. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time.

I was putting off this novel and trying to read it slowly because I didn't want it to ever end. Clearly that didn't happen and I devoured it in one sitting starting extremely late at night and forgoing a decent night sleep. I had to. I needed to know what was going to happen to my favourite characters.

I loved seeing Varick and Selena even if it was very briefly within this installment because until this point they had no idea their friends were in danger.

The reapers are back , and in full force within this novel. They seriously give me the heebie-jeebies, and have actually appeared in some of my lesser friendly dreams at night.

This Island that the characters find themselves on to get to the dreaded IDAHO institute is full of devices to ensure that anyone that is not supposed to be on this island is either deterred and leaves or is killed. The new types of machinery and technologies in-which these character face are very scary.

I hate that Jameson is still under Ulvic's commands and isn't able to tell Cass that he loves her. Throughout these pages it was killing me seeing his pain and hurt.

One of my favourite parts of this story was seeing a younger Mercy in flash-back memories. After reading the short story "A Game of Vampires", it's been nice seeing more of the humanity behind Mercy. Mercy being lonely and really only Varick to confide in and hang out with. It really puts into perspective how she could fall in love with him because he was the only one that really showed any care and compassion to her throughout her childhood; but also was honest with her (where her parents were always out for their own personal gain). I also thoroughly love that Cole the one captor that is showing her compassion and giving her V Blood is actually a known serial killer, murdering Hunters; which is what Mercy is. I love that he also has a connection with another male within this series, and I can't wait to find out how that unfolds.

Now to Ulvic, I hate this man so much. I don't think there is every anything he could ever do to make me change my mind about that. He is swarmy and slimy and just a complete and utter ass. I can't believe he did what he did. It's terrible, it's so betraying...and I can't wait for Jameson to kill the crap out of him eventually. I cried so much. The betrayal that happens within this installment is literally breathtaking. I was shocked, crying and so broken by the end of this novel.

And Silas, you piece of shit. I was so like "he's been hurt and he deserves love"; I just don't want it to be Cass. However, holy moly my blood was boiling. I can't even put into words the last like 3-chapters of this novel. I'm not an angry person, but I was crying and so sad and just broken about what transpires.

I can't even begin to understand what Cass is going through and how betrayed she feels by her own emotions. I love Cass, she really is such a Firefly. This entire novel she was performing death-deifying stunts to ensure her safety and that of her child's. I think Cass is going to be a wonderful mother, and it hurts a lot when she questions that.

I love that Caroline is able to create so much tension, heart-breaking scenes, happiness and pulse pounding action all into one novel. I absolutely love this series and already can't wait for the next novel already.

This is a series that everyone will fall in love with. It will suck you in and consume you until you have devoured all of the novels and novella within this series. It is highly addicting but oh so worth it.

She was the single most beautiful creature I'd ever encountered. Those emerald eyes were drowning me. They owned me body and soul. Why couldn't she see that? Why did I have to spell it out for her? --Jameson about his lady love, Cass

5++ stars!!

This book absolutely gutted me. In the best and worst way. I went through so many beautiful, raw and tangible emotions that I don't think I will fully recover myself until I read the next novel and Ulvic gets beheaded, lit on fire, and thrown into a wood chipper and then feasted on by starving Vs. Hehe. I don't wanna spoil anything so enjoy my giffy review! :D

First off, Cass on the cover is giving me major Poison Ivy vibes....which I love!

So ISLAND OF SHADE starts off where WOLF GAMES ends, with our beloved characters washed ashore a deadly and untamed island full of Reapers and other hidden dangers..

Jameson, Cass, and Silas are forced to navigate the deadly jungle terrain, avoiding the island's security measures in order to reach the safety of the Institute..

Whilst being chased and hunted by a beastie..

And other horrors. (Caroline's mind is a dark place :-P) There were some moments between Jameson and Cass..

And Silas and Cass..

And Mercy and...a HOT serial killer.......!!!

More of Jameson and Cass...

Some werewolf encounters..

More jungle trekking as our crew fight for their lives..

And then Caroline hits us with heart-wrenching twist after gut-piercing turn after godforsaken twist at the end, and we are just left with our chests gaping wide open wondering how she could torture us so...

Seriously though this series just keeps getting better and more intense and filled with more impossible situations as it goes along. Caroline truly outdoes herself with each consecutive novel, and I am breathlessly awaiting the next one. If you haven't read this series then start with V Games so you can be just as anxious and miserable as I am :D

My Jameson Fairfax, the most optimistic and hilarious Werewolf :)

My Colt [last name omitted on purpose!], the hottest serial killer and brooding kidnapper you'll ever meet..

Book 5 starts where Wolf Game ended, after the destruction of the cruise ship that belonged to the IDAHO company, the survivors have ended up on a deadly and untamed island, an island that is full of Reapers and other unseen dangers. Cass and Jameson may be reunited, but with how things are going they won’t be able to bask in each other, and soon they will be

The pain Jameson and Cass endure in this book – man oh man things need to get easier for them. Meanwhile Varick and Selena’s vacation is cut short and not in a good way.

Ulvic remains a vile excuse of a human being, I feel myself boiling with rage thinking about how he is able to excuse his behaviour to himself.

I really liked the flashbacks to Mercy’s past in this book, it’s given me more insight into the women I so potently disliked in book 1 and 2, and the yearning she had to gain her parent’s approval and attention made me ache for her. Now I understand the veneer of coldness I saw in the earlier books, and the reason why she used her body to get what she wanted.

What I’m enjoying about this series is that I get so immersed in the story that I’m surprised by some of what occurs – when I take a step back, I can say I so should have seen that coming, but as I read, I get sucked into the story.

The ending of this means the next book has already been downloaded – please let there good news for Jameson and Cass.

I finished the book last night, read it just under 5 hours because it was SO captivating. I enjoyed it more than any of the earlier books in the series (even I do love them all!), I love this one the most. I enjoyed the changing scenery, from one catastrophe to another. From one feeling to another. It keeps the reader on toes, and doesn't let mind wonder too far from the point. Of course it's not only action, there is enough peacefull moments between the action to make heart calm down before it starts to race again.Jameson and Cass are 10/10 couple. Loved every word of it.

I made the review because I strongly believe the author is growing as a writer book by book, and I wish to be able to see how far her great mind and skills can take us, not only because "I have to do it to get the book a bit earlier". I believe in you Caroline 🙌🏻

Honesty I don't even know how to start this review. This author has so much talent. She is awesome and her imagination is off the charts. She delivers perfection in every book. There is no half way with her. She puts her all in every book. And that's what makes such a great author. She could give Stephen King a run for his money. I have no doubt about that. This book picks up where it left off. The survivors are washed up on the shore. They have no idea what is on this island. Silas tells them what he knows about it.And yes it's full of those creepy Reapers. I hate those things with a passion. I had nightmares after reading the last book. I pray I never hear the word taste ever again. But that's not all that's on the island. I hate spoilers and believe me you don't want any either. This book stands on its own. You will have so many feelings while reading this. I felt anger, happiness, terror, pain, fear, and so much more. Will Jameson and Cass get out alive. Can they protect their unborn child. This is a journey of survival and such an on the edge of your seat book. I never know where the book is going. I kept trying to read the book slow. But that wasn't going to happen. I didn't want the book to end. I can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend this author and her books. She really deserves more than 5 stars!!!!

Well they are gradually getting their enemies and I like Jameson past it helps to highlight the control that the Hellsings had. I also like the look into Marcy's past it was nice to see why she was the way she was. I'm hoping that things work out alright in the end but I have a feeling someone is going to die I just don't know who it will be.

I don't even know where to start on this one. I read it in 4 hours, because once I started, I could not put it down. And yes, I did get an advance copy for free from the author, but my review is totally unbiased...other than the fact that I absolutely love Peckham's work.

The story picks up right where the last book ended, just after the explosion, and all with our faves, plus Vs fighting to get to safety. The island itself reveals a series of deadly challenges-biometric security, Reapers, Rockley Jones-for our group to deal with before getting to the institute at the center. Along the way, we watch as Ulvic's commands drive a wedge further between Jameson and Cass, even after he finds out that she's carrying his child. And then there's Silas. Let me just say that I never trusted him, and I hate it when that gut feeling plays out to be right in the most twisted way possible. My heart was crushed with Jameson's "punishment" which was thought up by Silas and carried out by Ulvic.

I'm not sure I'll ever recover from this one. I am, however, on pins and needles waiting for the next book in the series. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I have to know what happens next.

All in all an amazimg read. It will keep.you on the edge of your seat. Personally i couldn't put it down. I love the way the book ends with a cliffhanger making you want to get the next book as soon as its released. There were major plot twist and things happening inside the book that you would have never thought could happen. I hate that Cass and Jameson are going through what are but i believe they will eventually get their happy ending. Im hoping sometime in the next installment that a couple of people should be killed by those they hurt the most. I also cant wait to see what happening between Selena and Varick. If you want a great read with plot twist then i would definitely read this series. Very well written by an amazing author Caroline Peckham.

Straight up- if Jameson isn’t your ultimate book boyfriend you’re doing something wrong.

Holy heck! This book series can NOT be taken lightly! So action packed and fun!!! Hold on- is it appropriate to refer to this series as fun? Characters die left and right, there’s suffering, and turmoil, strategies and allegiances to be considered. So... probably not in the traditional sense should you refer to this series as “fun”. But I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying my book time. Now I’m going to bed to dream about my fictional boyfriend, Jameson.

Caroline keeps a steady pace of wonderful characters that are complex and a storyline that keeps me glued to the book until the very end.

My favorite people are back! Island of Shade is told from multiple povs that include Cass, Jameson (my favorite), Varick and Mercy. The group is separated and each in their own mess of trouble. Mercy is still held captive at the Hund house, Cass and Jameson on trapped on an island that is deadly with so many things out to get them and Varick might not get his happily ever after. The group has always come together in the pass to overcome the things that had come their way but separated can they over come a whole new level of horrors?

Island of Shade was amazing and a whole new level of book torture. I was on edge the entire time I was read. The book mostly centers on Cass and Jameson on the Island and the close calls they had were a little heart-stopping it was their relationship that was the killer. Jameson is still under Ulvic's orders to stay away from Cass and Cass doesn't know the truth worse yet she is getting close to Silas. It broke my heart to see Jameson in such turmoil and to see him try so hard.

I love Cass and Jameson together I think they bring out each others best qualities and I love seeing them work together on the island. Both have become different people and they would rush into danger to help others and think nothing of themselves and they think of keeping each other safe.

Mercy has to be the most surprising character she has hunter blood but was never really a hunter and she felt her family was in the wrong and turned against them. In Island of Shade I got to see Mercy's past and maybe how she truly is without her family's influence. Her back-story is actually a little surprising and it help me understand her a lot more. Mercy is complicated and surprising and I look forward to she what happens with her story.

The entire series is connected and now with the Island of shade being the fifth book we are now reflecting back to things in the previous books to give insight to the current story. The story is so interesting and it has a dark and (ya) edgy feel to it. The story has such cohesiveness to it, everything flows nicely and the characters do what is true to them.

I loved Wolf Games: Island of Shade it is full of dangers, supernaturals, mysteries, betrayal, heartbreak and couple of twist I didn't see coming. I can't wait for the next book because it looks like things are far from over.

WARNING: Make sure you take a very deep breathe before starting this cause once you start you will be holding your breathe from the 1st word to the last!!
Caroline Peckham may look sweet and innocent but underneath she is a twisted and evil woman!
This book takes you on a nonstop ride of jaw dropping, nail biting, head shaking, eye popping adventure!
This book picks up right at the end of bk 1 Wolf Games, I love when authors leave you with a cliff hanger in the previous book but starts the next book as if it's no time has passed.
We find the ship wrecked survivors fighting for their lives on Shade Island which holds another one of IDAHO's facilities, Cass, Jameson and Silas along with a few others have to make their way to the actual facility, but in order to do that they have to pass thru booby traps..and this is why I say that Caroline Peckham is a twisted and evil woman, the booby traps are like nothing I have ever read before! My heart was in my throat thru the whole book!! I had no idea who would survive or if my heart would ever stop pounding
This book/ series has left me in a severe book slump! Nothing compares to the V Games!

I finished this last night, but I am still trying to recover. Nothing is easy in the V Games world, but the implications of how this ended have me losing all hope. I am shooketh. Let's rewind to a time before I lost all that I love and hold dear, shall we?

Cass and Jameson. Any book centered on these two is an automatic win. That banter. That chemistry. Those fight skills. The body count really stacked up in this one, and each death seemed to be more creative and gory than the last. I'm definitely intrigued to see what becomes of Mercy and her captors in the next book, as well. I'm still trying to figure out what one of them is truly up to.

I'm avoiding spoilers here, but one character's betrayal so completely blindsided me and destroyed everything. I still can't comprehend it all. The stakes are so high in the next book. I'm both nervous and can't freaking wait.

>Book Review – Wolf Games: Island of Shade
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Vampire Games Season 2 series and ends in a cliffhanger. This story is not a standalone. A short chapter on previous events would have helped get the reader back in the action. The action starts exactly at the point the last book ended, with Jameson, Silas and Cass washing ashore an island after the yacht they were on sank. The island has tons of dangers and creatures to chase and kill the survivors. The action never ends. The only break the reader gets is when the story breaks away to Mercy’s captivity or Varick and Selena’s vacation.
>Varick and Selena are human now, but showing some enhanced abilities. Mercy’s backstory is told, making her a bit more likable. The theme of love conquering all is prevalent, along with an ultimate betrayal. I love this series as I cannot figure out where the story is going to go. Cass and Jameson have the ultimate romance, along with a baby on the way. They are still being threatened by Ulvik, so their HEA, hopefully, is on the horizon.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. This book is very heavy on the violence. I am giving this book 5 stars. The action never stops and the characters are all well developed.

Overall the book was meh. The inconsistencies is what brought down the overall enjoyment of this book. How has nobody written about the inconsistencies?

In the book where Jameson takes Mercy with him to destroy her home they talk about how old she is. She says she’s 30 but stopped aging at 18 and won’t age again until 50. In this book she’s having flashbacks to her childhood from 100 years ago. So she aged 70 years in the span of a book or two?

Another inconsistency, again dealing with Jameson, is when the reaper makes itself look like Cass on the island and Jameson is able to tell it he loves her thinking it was really Cass. Fast forward a few paragraphs and Silas is asking Jameson about his feelings for Cass and he can’t tell Silas because of Ulvic’s command. Umm Silas is nothing more than a Reaper according to earlier in the book when Kodiak kills him and he comes back from the dead to explain to Cass about reapers and how he’s “immortal” because of them.

Two very blatant inconsistencies that were just too hard to overlook.

Oh and the minor inconsistency that It was when Mercy aged to look 16 that her mom turned her into a whore for the family instead of when she was 18.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Wolf Games: Island of Shade (The Vampire Games Book 5)

I just love ❤️ Island or Shade, normally, I am done reading in a day, but unfortunately, Hurricane Florence, is heading to SC, so it’s taking me longer to read.... anyways!!!
This book as usual makes me escape, the book is a page turner, the author creates such a vivid picture, I feel like I’m there, which is scary at times, lol 😂!!!!
If I didn’t HATE(I never is this word, ever) so this is bad for me, Ulvic, before OMG 😲 !!! I DO NOW😍🤬😡🤯😳😤 Just saying, the next book cannot come out quick enough, for me to find out what happens to this sob...

“ I received an advanced copy of this book and VOLUNTARILY decided to review it”

I just purchased the book today, so I can reread it, I love reading it on my kindle as a book form and in my setting...

This is my honest opinion and I hope you will enjoy and love this book as much as I have...

I definitely would recommend you pick up this book and series to come!!!! You will love them ❤️

Omg 😮 I couldn’t wait to read this book, as I am in love with this whole series... I have never been on such an emotional roller coaster whilst reading a book... my heart was in my mouth throughout book 2 island of shade. Amazing from start to finish I literally couldn’t put it down! An epic adventure with highs, lows and more lows lol I really hope Cas & Jameson get their happy ending, I think they deserve it!!
I love the characters, the storyline, in fact I just love everything about this series... each book just gets better and better and I am now left with yet another cliffhanger, which by the way isn’t any easier than the first to cope with, that’s left me needing more of my vgames/wolf games fix! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again these books WILL make it to the big screen... Caroline Peckham I applaud you 👏🏻👏🏻
Please don’t leave us waiting too long for book 3

So much pain and cruelty are being countered with love and devotion.
Unlikely alliances and friendship fortunately make a lighter tone in this book.
A truly tough struggle to keep on living!
Especially for Cass.

I truly dislike cliffhangers, even though this is a great book I cannot give it five stars, because of that fact.

But yes, I cannot wait to continue reading the next part in the next book! I’m so hooked.

As the previous ones , this book was amazing !
Cass and Jameson , oh you two are so swoon worthy ..
I am all over the moon for you.
I was so curious about how their story continued I read it in one sitting.
I could just not put it down until I read everything.
And now I'm having a book-hangover for the next.
Shame on you Caroline Peckham for writing the end with that cliffhanger.
It was so sad and I just wanted to cry and then murder Ulvic.
Then revive him and kill him again.
And I would be happy just doing that over and over.
I am nervous just thinking about what will happen in the next book.
And what is going on with Varrick and Selena?
Also curious about what was going on with them ..

Making deals with the devil

Better the devil you know as the saying goes but that is not always the case and evil can be masked by good intentions. This was a twist I suspected but did not really fathom until it was revealed. The ultimate betrayal and the consequences will be devastating. Class cannot catch a break after all she has suffered and the blows keep coming. You need a master vampire who cannot be compelled to twist a few necks on that island, that would shake things up. Rockley Jones also doesn't give up without a fight so the battle of wills begins but who will end up the winner and at what cost. Personally I hope karma has a hand in the final battle as the good guys need a win.

Awesome!!!!!!

I was given an ARC to review.

This book had me glued to its pages from page one. The story of Cass and Jameson only gets better with each book.
At time I wanted to come through the pages and shake some sense into Cass and make her get out of her own head. At the same time I wanted Jameson to show her that he was hurting just as bad instead of putting up a front.
It was good to see not only what was happening with Cass and Jameson, but also Varick and Selena retying to The Sanctuary and finding it breached.
I still hope that Ulvic will meet with a horrific demise..
The cliffhanger is killing me!!
I can't wait for the next book. ❤️

As always the author had done it again! What a page turner. She has once again painted such a vivid world for you that you can actually picture yourself there as well, which is both fantastic and scary at times. This book did have me disliking a few of the characters a bit more. A little more frustrating but not overly so. I love this series and it doesn’t disappoint. I did receive an advanced free copy of the book BUT this is an honest review. I’ve recommended it to a few people who have absolutely loved the series. Definitely worth reading.
