I just realized I never reviewed this...but it's been a few days now...and well...
In this book's defense, it might read better for others - and for me upon a re-read, actually - but I just happened to read this immediately after The Crow, which was a 5-star read for me.
And we all know how a 5-star read can affect our next read...
As I write this, I am realizing that I actually enjoyed this book more than I realized at the time I finished it...Hmmmm...

I dig the whole premise of this book.
A veritable contract of forced sexual servitude?
With a hot Russian Mafia dude?
I really liked how this thing played out.
Katy owes some bad peeps some money and Ivan offers to save her from getting her ass kicked/becoming the mafia's wind-up sex monkey...in return for becoming just his wind-up sex monkey.
Luckily, they actually have a one night stand several months prior to this, so it's not like she would be fucking a complete stranger...
...Again.
LOLZ.
And ALL of that is mentioned in the blurb.
So pipe it down Spoiler Police.
All in all, this was a super solid read.
The writing was decent and the story was entertaining. Some of Katy and Ivan's "getting to know your crazy Mafia past" conversations seemed a little stilted and contrived. And I felt that Ivan could have been a little more...well, badass.
Also, I would have liked a little more character/relationship development...
But, like I said, this wasn't a SOLID 4/5 star read for me - regardless of what I read before it - but all in all this was a super decent mafia read that doesn't take too long to read.
So if you are in the mood for that, I say go for it.

"I just want to thank you for being my light, solnishka."
This was my first read by this author and it didn’t disappoint. I was pleased that it was much better than my expectations. I found the plot quite predictable and slightly unrealistic, but meanwhile, it has many beautiful moments that made my heart swell with joy. The sex scenes were so damn hot and somewhat descriptive.
When Katy's father passed away, she inherited not only the nightclub but also the debts he owed the Russian mafia, and she had to pay them every month. Unfortunately, the club didn’t make enough money and the debts were due soon. She was broke and unable to pay them at all. She knew that she would be in serious trouble when the collection day came. And when the thugs visited her place in order to remind her of the debts, she was so scared but at that point, she had no choice but to accept the consequences.
Ivan has worked as a hitman for the Bratva. He came to Katy’s club one day and sparks flew when they met for the first time. They had one scorching night together and never met each other again until three months later. Out of the blue, he came back to the club and offered her another option. In exchange for his protection, she had to be his woman for a year.
Katy was running out of time. She had to decide what to do, to be Ivan's sex servant for one year or to be at the mercy of the mafia until her debts were fully paid.
I enjoyed this book a lot. Two main characters were likable. Ivan is a very sweet and endearing (hit) man and Katy is a strong and lovely woman. My only complaint is that there was too much Katy's inner dialogue. I got bored at times due to lots of her thoughts to herself. And to tell you the truth, I skimmed through some of them but I think I didn’t miss anything important.
Nevertheless, this was a good and captivating erotic romance story. It might sound like another one of those typical mafia romances, but I can tell there’s more to this than meets the eye. It was certainly a pleasant read. If you’re a fan of this genre, then what are you waiting for? Grab it! It’s well worth a read!

I don't know what it is about hit men books that really draw me. I enjoyed Ivan and Katy's story. Ivan has the whole strong silent type vibe going. Katy has had the worst luck since her dad died. She inherited a club and the Mafia payoffs that came with it. Ivan has a one night stand with her but still keeps tabs. When she runs into trouble, he's there to help... for a price... in the form of one year of her company. Their relationship grows and sexy times ensue. It's good that Ivan keeps his job separate and that he cares for Katy in a way that feels believable. I enjoyed this book :)

Katy Foss is trying to keep her father’s club, The Amber Room, a float. It’s all she has left of him. But her father left some debts and the Russian mafia is still collecting.
Ivan Dragomirov is a hitman for the mafia. His job is to end people’s lives, but he just might be Katy’s savior. An offer to be indentured to him, her anonymous one night stand, for one year might be the best option Katy has.
Ivan is a fairly interesting character; he’s dangerous, dark and reserved, yet seemed to have a soft spot for Katy.
“I keep wondering when the cutesy-date portion of our day will end and my Prince Charming transforms back into my domineering sex master.”
Ivan certainly had potential; I just really wish the characters and the story would have been fleshed out more. I had some trouble connecting with them. I definitely craved more of a build up, and I felt like scenes were missing that would have contributed to that. The timeframe often skips ahead (from New Years Eve to Valentine’s Day to St. Patrick’s Day, etc.) and I was left wondering about their interactions in between. Since they’ve not met before the night of their one night stand, I needed more of them getting to know each other to become invested in the romance angle.
All in all, if you are looking for a quicker, sexy read with overtones of danger, then this one fits the bill. Told via Ivan and Katy's alternating first person POV, Owned by the Hitman is a standalone.

When I read this book I did not feel their connection other than sex. It's was too forced a relationship for my liking.
At least they are both experienced and they both know it's only sex. However, sex is not love and saying it at the end doesn't make it so.
This is the only book by this author I did not enjoy because of the disconnect between the two MC
If it were not for circumstances, I don't believe they would have been together.
They hooked up and that was it. Its like good sex session now back to work without any regrets.
He forced the whole 1 year together sex slave thing.
She does not trust him and he plays her.
I don't like books like this.
These are just my thoughts here.
Would not recommend it, however if you like the hook-up relationships, then come on it.

This was just OK.
I liked this authors writing style, it flowed nicely, and both characters were likable. I just never felt a connection between Ivan or Katy. They hardly seemed to spend any time together. He wants to "own" her for a year, and it seemed like they only got together on holidays??! New Years Eve, then the next time we have a scene with them together is Valentine's Day, then it's St. Patrick's Day...well you get the picture.

Okay, I love mafia book BUT lately.. they are just lacking in something.
Owned by the Hitman was eh...okay. I feel like the guy who was the "hitman" was just ughhhhh. I didn't get any hitman vibes from him. Unless hitman are supposed to act this way.. and not like what I was imagining.
Katie was an okay character as well. Nothing really spectacular about her. Well, maybe the sex between her and the guy but other than that.. nothing. Nada. Zilch. I was honestly glad to be done with this audio.
Overall, I have no idea if I want to continue on with this series or not. Maybe if it gets better..

Wow. From the title I thought that this book was going to be kind of dark book.
Katy Foss owns a debt to the Mafia from the club she inherited from her father...To relieve herself from the impending stress of the due date, she agreed to a one-night stand with the sexiest man in the bar, and she didn't even know his name.( Ivan) has left her wanting more, but she can't worry about that now, Three months later, when she couldn't come up with the money for that month, the Russian mob collectors wanted her body as payment. Ivan also came back, and offered to take care of her debt with the Russian mob , as long as she agrees to be his for one year. It was also then that she found out that Ivan was part of the Russian mafia too, as an HITMAN ...Not that she thought that it was good idea to being the sex slave of a powerful hitman.... Given a choice between the sexy Hitman & greasy collectors...Katy wasn't really as repulsive as thought she'd be at being Ivan sex toy... their feelings towards each other developed..... but a dark cloud of doubt & betrayal threatened them. In the end, the truth was revealed... Loved how it turned out.

Ivan is unexpectedly sweet for a hitman! Katy and Ivan's story was a nice one to read, smooth and with minimum drama. I actually enjoyed it!

Katy Foss, is the owner of the Amber room, she inherited it from her father after his death, she also inherited his debts , one of which is monthly payments to the Russian Mafia ; and this months payment is coming due . Unfortunately this month she is a Little short and concerned that her three collectors may it be generous, but the regular collection crew dose not show up, Ivan does.
Katy has some previous experience with Ivan, a very hot, very needed one night stand that left her wanting more and hoping that is why he is at the bar, that after months of not seeing him he has come back for more . Well , kind of did . Ivan makes it pretty clear he knows about her debt and is willing to pay it for her with the following conditions .
“Be mine.”
“For a year, I will own you.”
“You will be my woman for a year, servant to my whims and desires. I will not hurt you, unless you want me to,” he adds. There’s that smile again, not on his lips, but lurking in his deep blue eyes.
Needless to say, I was totally hooked by this point. Katy however had to take time to think about being someone's sex slave; even if he was gorgeous and Phenomenal lover, but she did not have to think long . Ivan returned for her answer and walked in on the regular crew working her over; he worked them over. A perk of having a Hitman for a quasi boyfriend .
So , when I think Hitman, I think , cold, hard , unfeeling and she probably is in for one hell of a rough year! The story was So not what I expected, Ivan had layers. Sure he was some of that but he was also a hopeless romantic , roses, surprise lunches, trips to the butterfly conservatory. Let's just say Ms Abbott hooked me earlier in the book but she just kept me on the hook through the whole book with every little reveal between these two.
Could not help but love this engrossing read !

Ivan Dragomirov is a hitman, a hitman who Katy had a one night stand with in a moment of weakness. Now Ivan will be her savior when she finds herself being roughed up by a couple of his associates.
Ivan becomes Katy’s protector and champion....but, there’s a price to pay for his protection. She must be his for one year. Katy agrees and they slowly get to know one another, but, unbeknownst to both Ivan and Katy, Katy’s still in danger from Ivan’s associates.
All-in-all: I found this an okay read. It didn’t knock my socks off, but, it was somewhat engaging. The H&h had the potential to be really great but, I felt it had a lack of character/couple development, I needed to see them more as a couple and getting to know each other rather than just protector and sex slave for a year before we get to their HEA.

I read this is one sitting, I couldn't put it down!
So here we have the story of boy meets girl, girl gets in over her head with the mob, boy turns out to be a killer and decides to protect girl. It sounds ridiculous but it was such a fun read.
The hero was strong, powerful and deadly yet he could be incredibly sweet. The heroine is determined, strong willed and very likeable. They make an awesome pair.
I'm becoming a fan of mob romances and this is one of the good ones. I'd definitely recommend it.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book from Alexis Abbott for my honest review. I absolutely love a good Mafia book, it's probably my favorite genre of romance. Ivan was a total hottie & him & Katy made a great couple. This book was a total page turner & I had great difficulty putting it down when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I will definitely be reading more of her books, now & in the future.

This was an alright read. I thought there was not much to the story as far as how Katy and Ivan fell in love with each other. However, I did think it was a good start to a new series. I think the characters were good. I did enjoy their story. However, the time jumps were not so great as I thought it did nothing for the plot. The best part of the book was the twist. I can’t wait to see how the other books are. I hope they get better. Overall, an okay read.

Overall I really liked this read. It is Ivan and Katy's story. Katy has been left her dad's nightclub which is in debt to the mafia........not the greatest of inheritance, but Katy is definitely a "the glass is half full" type of gall. Katy does okay at paying this charming monthly debt to the sleezy mafia collectors.
Katy as the clubs proprietor keeps herself professional, until a smokin' hot guy gives her the smolder stare at the bar.....all bets are off then. Well woo wee I do not have to type the rest, I am sure you get the drift of the next step between Katy and Mr gorgeous. 3 months pass from the "night of glory" and despire Katy dolling herself up, she does not see Mr gorgeous again........until the mafia send for the next payment !!!
Ivan is Mr Smolder and the collector of the funds. Katy does not have the money so Ivan suggests a compromise......her for the payment. She will be his completely for a year !!!. Indecent !!!
I was rolling towards 5 Sparkly ones then (without giving too much of the story away) Katy gets a letter with some information and basically loses her s**t at Ivan and is quick to point the finger. For me I wanted to face palm at this point, because it had appeared that Katy and Ivan were building more than just an intense sexual relationship. Then Katy just believes instantly what she has been told......be wary yes......investigate......but for god sake take the time to find out before you blow the joint !!!
Anyway, despite this story line hiccup I warrior'ed on till the end, which worked out perfectly for me. So win-win.
Definitely worth a read. Well done Alexis and many thanks for this opportunity xx

I was rolling towards 5 Sparkly ones then (without giving too much of the story away) Katy gets a letter with some information and basically loses her s**t at Ivan and is quick to point the finger. For me I wanted to face palm at this point, because it had appeared that Katy and Ivan were building more than just an intense sexual relationship. Then Katy just believes instantly what she has been told......be wary yes......investigate......but for god sake take the time to find out before you blow the joint !!!
Anyway, despite this story line hiccup I warrior'ed on till the end, which worked out perfectly for me. So win-win.

This was a quick audio. It was cute. But I guess I wanted a little more darkness? Especially because of the title. Owned by the Hitman?! I'm thinking it's going to be more than a lovey dovey story. But that's exactly what it was.
Katie is a young girl who inherited her fathers night club after he was killed. Well, on top of inheriting his club she also inherited his debts to the Russian Mob. The club is barely staying afloat and it's getting more and more difficult for her to pay. Until one month she can't make the payment and the men try taking payment in other ways. Katie is saved by a guy she had a one night stand with. He offers her help in keeping her debts paid. She becomes his in every way. He owns her. All the while, they're steadily falling in love with each other.
I wish this story would have started getting interesting before the 60%ish mark of the book. Because even though the smut was steamy, it was a bit boring and there needed to be more...
Here's to hoping the next book has a better storyline. Or at least a story that doesn't take so long to get interesting.

Katy is in deep trouble. She inherited a club and a bunch of debt to the Russian mafia and can't make the payments. Just when it looks like the dirtbag collection team is going to take their payments in another form, she is offered a deal by Ivan - be his for a year. Ivan is a hitman for the mafia but he turns out to be a pretty great guy too. Katy has a hard time reconciling her growing feelings for him with what he does for a living.
I'm not sure what I want to say about this book. I liked it even though some aspects of the story were hard to believe. For example, because of his profession, I kept waiting for Ivan's character to turn cold but it never happened. I liked that he stayed the same romantic, kind guy toward Katy. It was unexpected and I appreciated that the drama came from somewhere else. Katy's character? Eh, she was just alright. The plot was average too. Smut factor was slightly above average - 3.75 out of 5. All leading to an overall average rating.

This was an okay read. From the title and description, I thought it would be a bit darker. Like Ivan would be a little more morally gray or need redemption. There was plenty of smut and it moved along at a decent pace. I did like that we got some of the story from Ivan's point of view as well. I felt bad for Katie that she lost her entire family and was thrust into this awful world of the mob and working to the bone to pay them. I'm happy Ivan came along and rescued her.

Owned by the Hitman was a short read, and while it started off with an interesting premise (and some gritty suspense in regards to Katy's interaction with the Mafia) it quickly wore away as soon as Ivan entered the scene. There's quite a few things that bugged me while I was reading this story: I'm not a fan of love-at-first-sight; or the kind of uncontrollable lust that seems inconsistent to the character; or a romantic development that only extends to the difficult family dynamics of the romantic leads; or painfully cringe-worthy dialogue to express a sudden romantic attachment.
If this story focused more on the dark thriller side, it would have been far more successful, because that kept me hooked during the earlier chapters. However, after the midpoint, the plot meandered and it didn't feel like anything was actually happening at all. The only interesting scene with Ivan was the first chapter of the story, written from his POV. Actually, I felt that the romance was the weakest part of the story altogether.
Another thing that I had difficulties with was that Katy (and later, Ivan too) is portrayed as perfect, she even describes herself as such. Her eyes are perfect; her body is perfect, every fine detail about her is entirely perfect, which is an issue I have with a lot of romance novels. Her perfection isn't particularly interesting and ironically, it still gives me no understanding about what Katy's character is actually like.

Katy inherited that club after her father died and she is struggling to keep her business afloat but with the mafia on her back, she is in a deep trouble when she cant pay her debt to them. Ivan swoops in and proposes her a deal : to be his for a year and he will make all her problems go away.
I loved how the story was told. Not one dull moment and the right amount of action, drama and steamy scenes.
Ivan is a dangerous man with a cold heart but that seems to melt when he's around Katy.

Ivan is a deadly hitman. He shows no mercy. After his latest job he is in needs of some female company. Katy needs help she is in over her head and Ivan could just be her knight in shining amour but it's going to cost her. She will have to become owned by a hitman.

Katy has to pay off her father's debt to the Russian mob. She get's distracted. 3 months go by and her payment is due and she's having trouble coming up with the money the man she has a fling with show up back into her life. Ivan wants to make a deal with Katy to be his for the next year and he will protect her. Katy decide to take Ivan's offer but she doesn't know what she's got herself into great read.

Pretty good for this genre

In this book we meet Katie and Ivan. Both are very different people. Katie is paying off a debt to the mafia that her deceased father has left her with. She owns a club and seems to really enjoy her job and the friends who work for her. When times get tough she begins to sell off belongings to keep her tab with the mafia up to date. When she is a little short one month however everything changes. A one night stand doesnt turn out to be just that. And when she thinks Ivan is also from the Mafia, she finds out he is really from the Bratva. Ivan is full blown in the killing required job and he falls for Katie. As the story goes however, you can see in his mind he is only killing those who have done something to deserve to be killed. The chemistry between Ivan and Katie starts to build and everything seems to be going great until the one year arrangement is up and Katie receives a letter indicating that it is Ivan who is responsible for her father's death. Was all this just a plan Ivan had made or is something else going on entirely?
