When Carson Reese, the #1 ranked college basketball player in the nation, is threatened by a group of lawless gamblers unless he shaves points in a game, the decision is easy. Shaving points is illegal so--no thank you. The threats escalate to include his little sister and Carson has to think a little harder about his decision. Shaving points is easy to do, hard to catch, and even harder to prove. When his sister ends up in the hospital, and the threats turn to Carson's girlfriend, he realizes the price of his dreams is higher than he thought. Caught between the sport he lives and the woman he loves, Carson could lose his NBA dreams by playing the odds.
Playing the Odds kept me on the edge of my seat! A page-turner with a twist. The characters of Allie and Carson are extremely likable and well-developed. I was cheering them on every step of the way! This story is terrific at mixing college basketball and romance. I can't wait to read another novel by Lisa Whitesides! Her debut novel is a slam dunk!
I absolutely loved this book! The romance was sweet and funny, the basketball games were intense, and the suspense made me wondering how everything was going to be resolved. The growing relationship between Allie and Carson seemed very real and natural. I loved Carson's personality! I've already re-read my favorite parts and I know it will be a book I pick up to re-read over and over again. I can't wait for more books from this author!
