A new, pulse-pounding thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of the Jason Bourne series and The Testament.
The End of Days has been predicted for the last two thousand years, but now it is upon us.
Emma and Bravo Shaw have rescued the Testament of Lucifer from nefarious hands, but despite their efforts Lucifer's Fallen have already woken, including the four thrones of legend, and their corruption reaches to the highest ranks. Even the Shaws are not immune, as Leviathan is coming, and no one is safe.
Following his internationally bestseller The Testament, Lustbader delivers an action-packed, globe-spanning new trilogy that explores religion, politics, and civilization.
Eric Van Lustbader was born and raised in Greenwich Village. He is the author of more than twenty-five best-selling novels, including The Ninja, in which he introduced Nicholas Linnear, one of modern fiction's most beloved and enduring heroes. The Ninja was sold to 20th CenturyFox, to be made into a major motion picture. His novels have been translated into over twenty languages.
Mr. Lustbader is a graduate of Columbia College, with a degree in Sociology. Before turning to writing full time, he enjoyed highly successful careers in the New York City public school system, where he holds licenses in both elementary and early childhood education, and in the music business, where he worked for Elektra Records and CBS Records, among other companies.
"Four dominions" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Eric Van Lustbader (https://www.ericvanlustbader.com). Mr. Van Lustbader has published nearly 50 novels. This is the third novel in his "The Testament" series.
I received an ARC of this novel through https://www.netgalley.com in return for a fair and honest review. I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence, Mature Language, and Mature Situations. The story is set in contemporary times. The primary characters are Emma and Bravo Shaw who have recovered the Testament of Lucifer.
Emma disappears and Bravo tries to locate her. He finds himself recovering from an unexpected encounter. Bravo avoids his followers and continues his search for Emma. They encounter the fallen angels that have been predicted as the End of Days. If they fail, then it will be the end of humanity.
I thought that the 10.5+ hours I spent reading this 368 page fantasy were interesting. I have read a lot of Van Lustbader over the years. Some of his novels fall into the 'strange' category and this is one of them. This novel read well enough as a stand alone read, but I would suggest reading the three novels in the series in order. I had read the prior novel, "The Fallen", and it helped understand this novel. I think that part of my reaction to this novel is that I am not a fan of angels and demons in my reading. The chosen cover art is OK. I give this novel a 5 out of 5.
3rd Installment in this very intriguing series. I find that as the series progresses I'm get more invested in the books and the over-arching plot. The first books I did find a bit hard going but I feel more settled in the world and have everything aligned...I think!
Emma has been acting weird since they managed to remove the malign force that was inhabiting her. But their new found aunt, who is the same age as them almost, knows that something is amiss. When Emma succumbs to the voice in her head and falls down a deep hole morally, Bravo has his work cut out - save Emma, the word and unfurl all the mysteries that his family have been involved in over the decades.
It was a bit hard going with the action going to and fro through time, but it did at least clear up a few mysteries. But just as one thing is nailed down more plots and skullduggery emerge! Leviathan is the biggest of the bad and his minion, who had infected Emma, well I found myself well not liking him as such but not wanting to send his demon ass back to hell either! Enemies are becoming allies and new battleplans will needs to be drawn!
The end of days is near. When Emma reads the Testament of Lucifer, she becomes possessed. Bravo is on search for their family history and trying to find four golden apples. Secrets are exposed ,and time is running out for Emma. Family members are killed while prophecies come true. I was not prepared for the end.
This is the third novel in the TESTAMENT series which chronicles the initial campaign by the Fallen of Hell who are attempting to break into our world and take over Heaven. The novel starts with Bravo Shaw finally salvaging the Testament Of Lucifer and bringing it back to his headquarters. There his sister Emma spills lemonade on the page to reveal the secret writings that entrap her with the evil spirit Beleth. So then The End of Days which has been predicted for the last two thousand years, now finally is upon us. Our hero Braverman Shaw and his sister Emma are the front line defenders who struggle against the wiles and manoeuvres of the Fallen to prevent their onslaught .Leviathan is coming, and no one is safe, unless the Shaws can mount an effective defense. The author teases the reader to provoke their disbelief in the ensuing conflicts. The action takes place allover the globe amid beautiful foreign scenery.
This book is proof as to why some books can't be read as a stand-alone. This is book three, and I didn't read the earlier ones. I was utterly lost.
There were things about the poet Yeats, a quest, body possession, mysterious creatures from the past, hacking computers, and unknown family links. I read the entire book over the course of a few weeks because I hate leaving books unfinished.
Van Lustbader is a good writer, and that's why I stuck with it to the finish. Other than that, I can't say much else because I really didn't have a clue as to what transpired.
I jumped into this third book of the series, figuring i'd be lost. Boy, was i wrong. I knew nothing of the first two books, but in a short time, I was caught up enough to care about the well-being of the Shaw's. This story is amazing. It's filled with action, mystery.and dives deep into the lineage of the Shaw family. The chapters are short and to the point, spanning across the Earth and the spiritual realm. They cross time lines, connecting generations and weaving them into a awesome finally. and the way the epilog ended. I' ready for the next book, which i bought today.
Absolutely riveting!! What a page-turner. Filled with suspense, action and drama to add that touch of humanity whilst weaving in love between humans, an emotion which emanates from God which the Fallen do not possess at all. Good versus evil. Spiritual versus natural, love versus pure hatred and so the saga goes on. An absolute joy to read!! A wonderful source of spiritual inspiration for Christians who may have lost their way of faith. Highly recommended read.
This serie really did turn into.something i.was not really expecting. What a relief and a wonderful surprise. Ancient relics of immense power, fallen Angel's, Demonic possession, action, adventure and sexy lesbians getting their grove on. What's not to love.....
Here is to hoping the final book in the series lives up to the first 3.
Bravo Shaw and the rest of his family keeps you running from one end of the world to the other. Also to parts of the underworld that we can only guess at. I guess we will have to wait for the next book to find any answers.
Enjoyable reading that expanded my vocabulary and biblical knowledge. Did a lot of fact checking while reading these books. A great history lesson and pretty darn entertaining. Painted wonderful visual images I could srep into.
