Rate this book
Fifth Edition Fantasy is here! This adventure module is fully compatible with the fifth edition of the world’s first fantasy RPG, and is ready to play in your home campaign!

Your stalwart band treks through the trackless jungle seeking the Dragon’s Maw Waterfall. At the base of the falls, behind a massive curtain of water, is rumored to be the cavern lair of a great wyrm. The local Xulmec tribesmen say the great dragon has not been seen in nearly 100 years, so perhaps its hoard lies unguarded and ready for plunder. But what role do the heroes play in a blind shaman’s prophecy foretold a century ago?

This all-new 5E adventure module includes seven new magic items, and pre-generated characters can be downloaded from www.goodman-games.com to start playing right now!

This is fine. Not really my bag, though. Adventurers go out into the jungle to find out what happened to a dragon and its loot. In keeping with a lot of modules I've read, there seem to be an improbably number of different and incongruous NPCs and monsters. Sure, they're given a reason for being here, but it just seems weird to run into a efreeti while snooping around in an Aztek inspired dragon's den.
I kinda like the idea of giving the PCs an absolutely ridiculous amount of treasure with no obvious way to get it back to civilization. Do they keep it here and defend it from monsters, or worse, stronger dragons? Hire teams to try to transport it through the jungle? Just take a few prize bits and run?
As I don't run D&D, 5e or otherwise, the various mechanical elements of the scenario certainly do nothing for me (lair actions, etc.). Overall, the scenario seems fine, but it's not one I'll be looking to run.

A fairly straightforward scenario in terms of plot (enter a dragon's lair, defeat minions and then the dragon himself). However, it gets bonus points for interestingly designed and very tough enemies, and a lot of options to change the course of the final battle. Also, it's rare in general to see a stand-alone high-level adventure like this in the 5E era. (B+)
