I shouldn't want her. But I do. And I always get what I want.
I was injured at war and discharged from the military. My commanding officer invited me to stay with him while I get back on my feet. I'm grateful for his help, and we've become close friends. There's just one problem. His daughter lives with him, and she's off the charts hot. So is the chemistry between us, even though I try to ignore it. She's inexperienced, but her long lashes beg me to change that. Her curvy hips taunt me as she walks by wearing only a bikini. She invites me to take a swim with her while he's out of town. Swim with her? I want to swim in her. But I can't touch her. And I certainly can't put a baby in her. Can I? Too late.
What will her father do when he finds out I knocked her up?

Stars: 3 Length: Full Length POV: Dual Series: His Secret Baby #1 (Stand Alone) Ending: HEA Re-read? No
It just wasn't very good. The writing was all over the place making it seem... muddy. That's the best way I can describe it. The timeline jumps around and adds thing that weren't there when you read through it the first time.
Also, the book could have been a lot shorter. It really should have been a novella at most. There wasn't much of a plot so I think that the author tried to fill the word count out by going off on tangents and including things that weren't necessarily relevant to the plot. I don't think I'm going to continue on to book two of the series. I didn't even get one highlight our of a full length book.
3.5 Stars This wasn’t a bad story. I found the heroine to be a little immature but she is only 19 so I guess it is a little expected. I also found some of the dialogue to be a little cheesy in the love scenes. But overall it was a quick, decent read!
this book is a whole damn rollercoaster. not even the one with those crazy ups and downs and weird turns. this rollercoaster was just going up and down a hill. so there are no spoilers in this but must say that only proceed to read this book if you are above 16 at least
like I said earlier, the book claimed up and down a hill...what I mean is that it starts kinda nice. the first half of the book teases you to want to see the characters together and by each page, it gets better... that is till the second half starts and it is so boring. like I think the second part of the book was poorly written. the plot all of a sudden had many time skips and there were no mentions of it, so you had to figure it out yourselves. I finished the book in 2 hours max and even though I have just finished reading, the plot slips out of my mind.
I'll just move on to the points so that I don't make this too long 1) plotwise the book deserves 3 stars and this is because it was so ordinary. like there were surprises along the way at all. and the plot is just so weak that it slips through your fingers every time you try to hold it. but it was ok overall and I don't think that it is a complete waste of time for someone who has just started reading new adult but if you have read a few new adult books then this may be a bore 2) the character build up and relations- honestly, really don't think that you can say much about these characters. they all were just so shallow. also, the worst relationships I have ever seen. I couldn't have ever seen such a weak bond between all characters. it deserves 2 stars. 3) writing style- the writing style wasn't so bad, except for the time gaps and the rotten sense of humor in the book. humor was almost nonexistent but when someone tried to crack a joke, honestly they sucked. rating this on writing... it would get 3 stars as it wasn't so bad
now honestly, if you are not able to read one of your current books, then it is a good idea to pick up something like this, so when you start reading your previous book you will appreciate writing style in it. for example, I wasn't ale to read wicked king with all my heart so now that I have read this, I probably will be grateful to go back to fairyland.
lastly, thank you to all of you who have read this review and I hope that you find t useful!
Bradley is alone in the work no real family to speak of and what he has is seriously bad news. There has only ever been himself to rely on until he joined the Air Force as a mechanic they are all the family he need that is until an accident leaves him unable to continue in his career. His commanding officer Jack offers him a place to live and get back on his feet only he never expected to find Natalia and the way she makes him feel trying to do the right thing he avoids her until he can no longer resist the temptation she is. Now he’s eaten up with guilt for betraying his friend in the worst way but also wanting and loving Natalia to distraction, should he choose to go against his moral code or walk away and leave Natalia to find a bit her age?!? And can he survive without her?
Natalia is and old soul in a young body, knowing the sadness and loneliness she’s lived with for years sine her mum died and her dad always being on a mission she really learned to look after herself, what she wants more that anything is to have a family even though she’s just finished high school and should be looking to college it’s not really what she wants. Especially after she meets Bradley her dads best friend and she falls for him hard and fast he might be a lot older but she Just’s wants to love him. After an explosive week together Bradley pulls away and she has no choice but to let him go and hope one day she’ll find happiness with someone else, only fate had other plans.
Great read characters feel real and you can’t help but want them together.
This was actually really good! Lol, it exceeded my expectations & was a really good, cozy novel. The only thing I have to say is that the sex was a little smutty, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the novel.
Lol, the dad was pretty clueless about their relationship the whole time. It was funny
Most of the book takes place at the house too lol. I guess this was a secret baby book, but I wouldn't really consider it one.
My Father’s Best Friend’s Secret Baby, Book 1 of the His Secret Baby series, was about Bradley Miller, a former Air Force mechanic, and Natalia Stratton, the daughter of James Stratton. After an injury ended his career in the Air Force, Bradley contacted his former commanding officer, James Stratton, who offered him a place to recuperate once he was discharged from the hospital. Arriving at James' home, he met Natalia and became enthralled with her. Natalia had just finished high school and was trying to determine which college she would attend in the fall. Returning home from having spent time with her best friend, Grace, her dad introduced her to Bradley...and it was a mutual admiration society between the two, but neither one did anything to encourage the other. With her father traveling a lot, Bradley and Natalia were left alone together quite often...and the attraction between them continued to grow. Encouraged by Grace to see where the attraction might lead, Natalia subtly let Bradley know how she felt. Trying not to offend his friend by crossing a line with Natalia, Bradley desperately fought his attraction for as long as he could, going to the point of lying to her about having a date one night. After returning home, he admitted to her that, instead of going on a date he had actually gone to a job interview...and things heated up from there. For the next week, the two of them had hot, steamy sex as often as they could be together. However, Bradley had a bad dream where about James finding the two of them in bed together, so he called a halt to the affair and moved out. Not long later, Natalia found out she was pregnant with Bradley's baby. Since he was doing everything he could to avoid her, she wasn't certain about letting him know of the pregnancy. When her dad started questioning the two of them about why Bradley had moved out and why she was being too quiet, neither of them had an answer for him. However, in order to continue hiding her pregnancy from her father, Natalia decided to move it was time to move out. So she and her friend, Grace, got a place together. When Natalia's father continued to ask her to return home for visits, she finally gave in, only to run into Bradley. With tensions high, her father grew more concerned about her. She finally broke down and told her dad about the pregnancy, and he went ballistic, insisting she tells him the name of the "boy" involved so he could make him step up and take responsibility. Bradley showed up for the holiday dinner, during which her father revealed her pregnancy to him...and he suddenly knew it was his baby, at which time he blew up, giving it away to her father that Bradley was the "boy" responsible for the pregnancy. It was James' turn to go ballistic, but he calmed down fast enough when Natalia confronted him with the fact she was a grown woman and could take care of herself. The tension and drama were very high in this book, with very little humor to ease them. The chemistry and passion were both high, as was the pain of rejection Natalia felt when Bradley had turned his back on her, although he was trying to do the honorable thing being as he was so much older than Natalia. The characters were well-developed and with a bit more maturity than one would expect with a "May/December" couple...although they were both a couple of idiots for not communicating very well with each other. It wasn't the worst book that this author has written, but it needed a bit more development in the story and plot for it to be considered a decent love story. It definitely was not worthy of a five-star rating.
.This was a first time read from this author. I have to admit that I had a hard time getting into the story. But once I was about 1/2 way through I was hooked. There were a few mistakes here and there but not enough to take away from the story. I would like to read more from the author. Overview. Bradley was being forced to retire out of the Air Force due to an injury. He had no family and very few friends. When his friend (older by a few years and a senior officer) James came to visit, he offered to let him stay with him till he got on his feet. While Bradley was staying with James, he got to know James daughter Natalia. The two felt a bond growing between them. They tried to fight it but ended up giving in. Bradley felt bad and wanted Natalia to find someone more her age vs his old busted up body. Bradley moved out fast in hopes it would help, but both were miserable. But Natalia ended up pregnant and soon her dad was pressuring her to know who the father was. She was scared until Bradley walked in and seen her and knew that it was his. He no longer was going to hide, he was a man in love and might lose his best friend over this. But Natalia was worth it and so will the future.
Bradley is a Air Force mechanic. He was in an accident which ended up with him having a broken hip and leg. Due to that he was honorably discharged. He had no where to go so one of his commanding officers, James, decided to let him stay at his house. Natalia is James' daughter. While James way away on business Bradley and Natalia got very cozy. Bradley tried to deny his feelings because James is his best friend. He couldn't hold it in anymore and final gave into his desires. Natalia becomes pregnant. Will Bradley step up to the plate or will he ignore her?
It's heart breaking when you aren't able to do what you love. Being a mechanic was the one thing he knew he was good at. He wanted out of his tiny town and to do something with his life which is admirable. Natalia is just trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. I understand that her father wants her to have a back up plan but shouldn't what she wants to do come first? Bradley was way too concerned about how her father would react. When you love someone they come first. She cried a lot. Bradley and James talked about age too much. I wanted more but it didn't deliver how I wanted it to.
Bradley is injured during his tour protecting his country and when he is home recovering his has nowhere to go. His friend and buddy from the service offers for him to come and stay with him until he knows what he wants to do with his life. Natalie is attracted to Bradley but isn't sure he wants her like she wants him. He is a taboo thought for her until she catches him looking at her with a little more than interest. When her father has to go away for work they are left on their own and things heat up between them pretty quick. Bradley felt guilt from betraying his friend's trust and he ended things with Natalie and moved out. When Natalie started getting sick she never thought she was pregnant with Bradley's baby. What will happen if her father learns what happened between them? Will Natalie tell Bradley about being pregnant?
This is a great story once I started I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.
dnf'd at 24%. I might skim through the rest to see if it gets any better but I'm not holding out hope.
Characters are shallow and predictable. We get no real characterisation from the dad, the two guys who are the same age as the heroine are basically creepy pick-up artists which doesn't feel believable for 19 year old boys.
The hero and heroine's relationship is stale, we're told they have chemistry but aside from the fact that they're constantly turned on when around each other, we don't really get that chemistry in their conversations. Any depth to the characters is glossed over in favour of flirting and sexual teasing. It doesn't feel like this is a healthy long term relationship in the works.
I also have issue with the emphasis on the gender roles. Salads are girly rabbit food! Meat is manly! He's so manly because he's a mechanic! Dad put this item in a place that would only logically make sense to him, gee what a man!
It is so incredibly irritating. You can easily make a joke of these things without defaulting to gender.
I struggled with the first half of this book. I found the female mc irritating and very immature I had to keep reminding myself she is only about 19 but tbh she acted more like a 15/16 yr old. I also found my self flicking through the the trips down memory lane that the mc often had, they were too long and I found them boring and unnecessary. Saying that, she did grow on me towards the end of the book and I like the fact that she really did seem to take charge and mature. The male mc had me shouting at the book, I spent pretty much all the book longing for him to act like the grown experienced alpha male he was supposed to be (38) not the scared boy who did nothing but panic every time his friend called him in case he found out what happened between him and his friends daughter. It wasn’t until the end that he actually stands up and admits his feelings, but even than it was forced out of him because she’s pregnant. If you want a quick easy read than give it a go.
OH MY CHERRY CHEESECAKE!!! Wow! Ok, I have got to say I really enjoyed this little number. I was hooked from the start. This little page turning dynamo really packs a punch. The characters are complex, well developed and so realistic I felt I could just reach out and touch them. Their personalities are unique with qualities that balance out and play off one another perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and descriptive it paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. The twists and turns add a little spice to keep the suspense going throughout. A strong storyline that really comes to life in your mind's eye without any trouble and holds your attention until the last word. Jamie did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Incredible job Jamie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
I chose to read this story because i like taboo relationships. They always have some crazy way they happen or things just get out of hand. So aside from some unrealistic things like chicken unthawing in what seems like a matter of a hour in warm water and her first time being with a guy that is well endowed and not being particularly painful I enjoyed the read. It was cute and playful.
Yes, there was drama and Nathalia acted her age when it came to her pregnancy and telling her father and Bradley about the babies. I’m glad Grace was the voice of reason to at least put doing the right thing in the cosmos. And her dad took everything really well. I mean exceptionally well. I feel like if it were me my dad would have killed his best friend. Would not have mattered.
An entertaining and really well-written older man/younger woman romance. The characters are realistic, well developed , and complex. I really enjoyed this fast paced captivating story. I was on the edge of my seat with the twist and turns, the build up of sexual tension, good erotic scences, awesome chemistry, and suspense of the story of Bradley and Natalie. Bradley was an Air Force mechanic until an accident wounds him and he is discharged. Jack his best friend takes him in. Natalia is almost finished with high school. A definite must read and left me looking and wanting more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
This book was a fabulous book to read. It was full of emotion, friendship, chemistry, love, passion, and sacrifice.
Bradley is a man of honour and tries to show that but makes things worse in the process as you will see. Bradley has some demons he has to overcome personally and Natalia helps with those along with her cute & sassy character. Loyalty is Bradley's coat of honor, something he stands by and yet feelings are creeping up on him and he is having to make hard choices.
A great book, an amazing story to read. You will not be disappointed xx
I got an anthology of the His Secret Baby series, and I'm reading them all. The premises of some of them are interesting, but the sex scenes are just...not doing it for me. The execution of this series is just not well done in my opinion. But, that's just my opinion and sometimes I can really like books that others don't believe are well executed. This series just isn't my cup of tea, I'm afraid. At least not so far. I've still got one book of the anthology left, and maybe that one will be different.
An Age Gap Romance which was okay, but it really needed more content. I usually like Jamie Knight's books because they are not that long, but they are either erotic or sensual romance. This was okay, but I wanted a little more. Nathalia acted her age when it came to her pregnancy and telling her father and Bradley about the babies. I’m glad Grace was the voice of reason to at least put doing the right thing in the atmosphere, so they could think about what they should do. And her dad took everything really well
Natalia and Brad definitely have an age gap between them. But these two have such chemistry, such yearning when they first meet each other that that gap doesn't matter much. I thought they started strong but they let life get in the way. There were some points I hated what they did, the decisions they made, but that's how their lives ended up. Overall a very well written, enchanting story.
I do so love an older man/younger woman romance. While I truly enjoyed the romance between Bradley, who had retired from active military duty after a severe injury and Natalia, the 19-year old daughter of his best friend, it was the flashbacks that dragged the storyline down for me. Once again, I am not able to access the extended epilogue. That’s a major disappointment.
Bradley knew he shouldn't want Natalia as she is half his age and his best friends daughter. Natalia knew she want Bradley and all those reasons didn't matter to her. They let it happen, then Bradley get guilty and breaks her heart by leaving. A few months later she finds out she is pregnant with twins, then he finds out. A great story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.
A boy fresh out of high school then spends nearly 2 decades in the Air Force does NOT need to be having fantasies about a high school girl! She may think she is on the verge of woman hood, but she's a kid. He's in his mid to late 30's. I don't want to read what's supposed to be a hot romance that's really too darn close to a story about a pedafiler covered in chocolate. Sorry not acceptable to me.
I received an ARC copy of this book therefore voluntarily giving my honest review without duress.
Hot little tale of the younger woman falling for the older man.Hot moments and even hotter hearts. A comfortable read with all the Right Stuff Strong military man and the young lady who stole his heart.
Only got 16% in and couldn’t go on. Maybe I’ll try and again another day. I will say I’m not a big fan of 18 yr olds with men double that. That may just be the fact that I’m a mom of a 18 yr old myself. It’s just been a similar theme in a lot of the books I’ve read lately. Nothing wrong with an age gap but does it have to be so great, couldn’t it have be 5 maybe 10 yrs.
A lot 1/3 of this story could have been cut for just being meaningless boring scenes that added nothing. I was mostly on board with it all until Natalie started making massively stupid and naïve choices while sitting she’s an adult making adult choices. They were actually very childish and not thought out at all.
Needed a break from my Dark books so went with a slightly taboo age gap book. Not all of the characters spoke to me though. I really loved the MMC the FMC not so much. I'll read more of the series though just because I need a break between Dark reads. Sorry of the not so helpful review
I received this book as an arc and this is my volunteered review. I really couldn't get in to this story and that's on me and nothing to do with the author. its just not my normal kind of read. so I offer a 3 star review as I feel if this is your sort of book you will more than likely enjoy it
This book was an ok read. I was not as in to it as I had hoped. Something just felt off to me about the characters. There are also a lot of mistakes. I wish some of these authors would get better editors or have more proof readers.
