I was fourteen when I met him, danced with him, and fell for him. I was sixteen when Ryder left me with a forbidden promise. Now I’m twenty, and he’s back, but he has a secret.
I walked out as the boy Piper had loved for far too long. Now I’m back as a man who’s broken, angry, and flawed. Yet, each time she looks at me, it’s as if I’m perfect.
Can we have a second chance at love? Or will our next dance be our last?
*This is a standalone new adult romance with mature situations.*

I fell so far into this story and it was so damn raw and emotional I could hardly even think straight, let alone see my phone through the tears. I am now certain that Dani René is the Feels Assassin sent to murder me by breaking my heart. She has broken and turned me into a weeping, wrecked mess and scattered my heart all over the floor.
This book just pulls you right in and on all the heartstrings. Such powerful emotions between the characters as they fight against and for what they want and there is such a passionate connection and intensity it’s astounding. A beautifully executed storyline, wonderfully in depth and emotionally potent characters, and a plot that drew me in. The build up to something that was deep, passionate, and so perfect I could reread them forever.
I could really feel the characters, Piper was a beautiful and determined young woman who had maturity beyond her years and her strength of character even in the sad moments was astonishing. Ryder is a heart-throbbing mystery with lots of inner torment, a broken man with a depth to him that took my breath away. I freaking LOVED him.
No matter how many times I reread, it still reaches straight into my chest and rips the emotions right out of my heart. Every. Single. Time.
What a beautiful surprise this book was a story of young love that captured my heart.
Piper and Ryder's story was do much more than unrequited young love it had a depth that some stories in this genre lack. I liked Piper alot she's one determined young woman. Ryder was a hard guy to read as he kept his emotions and feelings hidden but when he lets loose OMG be ready to swoon. I thought I knew where the story was going then boom his secret was revealed and I can honestly say I never saw it coming. Well done to the author for making me fall so hard for these guys.
Two souls that have found each other early on in life only to be torn apart and reconnected again years later, what an emotional ride we’re taken on with Piper and Ryder that will have you tearing up throughout their story. How can I put into words all the feels of this story without giving away anything of detail? My heart was shattered and put back together slowly just as Piper’s had been. What Ryder reveals about his past and why he was distant broke me, I felt very emotion both he and Piper were feeling. I enjoyed the dual POV throughout, I feel more connected to both of them and it doesn’t feel like a one sided story. The pace was perfect and the flow was smooth. Perfectly Flawed is a beautifully broken, perfectly rebuilt story that everyone needs to read. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
This story sucked me and I loved it. This book has so much. It has the emotions, the drama, multiple intense characters that are so well thought out, it has the happy, the sad, and some sexy thrown in.
This story will completely pull at your heart. You have two people who have been in love whether they are ready to admit it it to each other or not. There is so much emotion and passion that is written within the story and between the characters. The story builds up so nicely and there are a couple punches along the way that keep you into the plot and use all your feelings.
Another thing I love is that the story is told in Piper and Ryder’s point of view. These are well thought out and developed characters. Piper is sassy and becoming a mature woman. She is determined and gives Ryder a dose of his own medicine when he pushes her too far. Ryder can be a jerk but he is a walking dream. He feels like he’s broken and that he isn’t good enough for Piper. The thing about both point of views is that you can see the characters from both sides and watch them process, think, change, and evolve. It brings the story together so much more, especially for Ryder in my opinion.
Dani did beyond an amazing job with this story and the characters, it’s a must read!
PERFECTLY FLAWED – a coming of age second chance romance that hit me straight in the chest. I have been loving Dani René’s writing for quite some time now, and every single time she manages to slay me – one way or another. With this one, she made my emotion run rampant, in the most heart-pounding of ways. This is her first YA / NA romance and it was nothing but amazing, still with an edginess to it that is so very Dani René.
I was frustrated with Ryder to the point of wanting to pull my hair, his reluctance driving me mad. I couldn’t see what could possibly hold him back. He fought against it, denied himself – but for whatever reason? Well, the reason came – in the form of one helluva twist. And suddenly everything changed: I was teary-eyed and broken because of him and his inner torment, wanting to comfort him if I only could.
Then there is Piper. Only twenty years old, she is her own kind of broken and flawed – yet strong, so strong, and smarter than her age would let on. Determined as she was, she fought for what she wanted and was everything Ryder needed.
Wonderfully written, with depth and devotion to the storyline as well as the strong set of characters, this was a story so sweet and passionate, yet edgy and angsty. I loved it!
Wow what a story. If your looking for a read with plenty of feels then I highly recommend you read this gem.
Piper and Ryder are two brilliant characters. I loved them. They had an attraction when she was way too young but didn’t act on it. A bond formed over their mutual love of dancing. Sadly Ryder moves away and breaks her heart. She doesn’t forget her feelings for him so is overjoyed when Ryder comes back. Unfortunately all is not as it seems.
From start to finish this is an awesome read. The author brings us on a beautiful emotional rollercoaster. This is a must read. I absolutely loved it:)
This is the first new adult book by Dani René and I gotta say I absolutely loved this book with all it perfectly flawed perfection (see what I did there?) I highly recommend this book to all the people out there who think they're not perfect when in reality your flaws are what makes you perfect in every single way. And this is how these two characters figure out that no matter what they do deserve one another but in order to know that you have to pick this book up today.
This is quite possibly one of my favorite books by Dani Rene. A little different then what I have become accustomed to when reading one of Dani’s books, but that is something I'm finding with this author, expect the unexpected. Piper and Ryder are a match made in Heaven. Made for each other and needing each other to be….. complete. This story pulled on my emotions a lot more than previous stories by this author. I laughed and I cried and i loved every word! I'll always be a sucker for second chances and this one did not disappoint. The thing I love about Dani Rene is she pulls no punches. She takes chances. She isn't afraid to let the story go where it is meant to go. Ryder is every bit the Alpha that we are used to from Dani, but in a different way. And Piper. I love her. She is a stand up for herself girl who is ready to say what she thinks and feels. I think I love that the most because that's where I am in my life. I'm done doing things for other people and am ready to do things for me. So don't stand in her way and don't tell her what to do, say or think! The thing I love most about Ryder is that he wears his heart on his sleeve, even tho he may not feel worthy of those feelings. For one reason or another we always feel less than what we are. The key is to always find someone who loves you for who you are and what you want and is willing to help you get where you want to go. Keep those people close and hold them tight.
And I officially have a new favorite by Dani Rene. This book caught me from the beginning with all the feels and never let me go. Ryder is truly the perfectly flawed hero in the book and Piper is the perfect character to compliment him. Can their friendship (or even more) be found again years later... read the book and enjoy the ride! You won't regret it
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Dani René!
Oh. My. God. The. Feels. (Yes, all those periods were necessary) This story will take you on a wild angst-y ride. It will take the classic bad boy trope and spin it on it's head - quite literally (if ya know, ya know what I just did there). Ryder and his butterfly are one the most beautiful couples I've ever read. Their path is difficult and has many bumps in the road, but their story will captivate you.
This is Dani René's first attempt at New Adult romance, and I have to say, it reads as if she's done this before. It's sweet and edgy all at once, and carries some great thought provoking messages about love.
My favourite part of this story is the idea of perception. When you love someone, truly love someone, you see them as a whole, and you put them on a pedestal; not because you celebrate how perfect they are, but because you acknowledge their flaws and their strength to wear them on their sleeve around you for only you to see. You celebrate their bravery. And then there's the perception of the onlooker - of the person who either doesn't understand what is transgressing between these two beings and opposes it with all their might or completely understands and observes in awe at the beauty of it. Hence the title, Perfectly Flawed.
René truly demonstrates her skill as a writer to be fluent in multiple genres. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
First and foremost...I loved this story... omg Ryder is a perfectly flawed bad boy.....and I love that Piper is the only one for him.. Piper is great too... she comes across as smart, talented, and although she has been hurt, she doesn’t come across as particularly broken or weak..
The plot is original and compelling....it is fundamentally a young/new adult love story but there are twists and turns, adding layers of intrigue and uncertainty into the plot and into the outcome of Piper and Ryder’s relationship, which is by no means a guaranteed happy ever after.... I loved the interactions between all the characters.. between Preston and Piper..and in particular the brotherly camaraderie between Ryder and his friends...
I think this is such a fabulous story....by an author who has skilfully created a group of relatable and believable characters and a storyline that kept me engrossed throughout.... I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
Such a unique and captivating story, comprising of so much emotion and love, layered with twists and turns I never saw coming. Beautifully written, I'd definitely recommend this story that shows us how strength and love can find a way through even then you believe nothing ever will.
*ARC kindly given in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much.*
I love second chance romance books and this one melted my heart. Piper loves to dance even got taught by someone she loves who left her 4 years ago. Now Piper teaches kids and one day someone who she hasn’t seen in 4 years is suppose to help her Ryder. This is emotional and soul changing. The author teaches us about loving yourself. Definitely a amazing book. That will touch anyone who reads it. 5/5 stars
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. I love how Dani can go really dark in her writing and also go the romance rout. This lady is so talented and such a good friend. I loved perfectly flawed. I was not expecting the feelings this book brought out in me. Mixed emotions I tell you. Great job doll so proud of you!
. . . . . . . . Original review (updated above) This read for Sure is an emotional journey, but this name (Ms. Rene) always means a Great read with emotions all over The place! Piper and Ryder's story is rough and cuts so Deep into your Heart That you have to be ready for becoming an emotional puddle after The read. Even after some time, I have emotions Allover The place. Great first book in the New genre. I have some characters That I feel have potential to become main characters in The next book.
What a refreshing story of young love! Piper has been in love with Ryder from a young age, but being he was older, they couldn’t act on it. When Ryder leaves to follow his dreams, Piper is heartbroken but hopeful from the promises he made. But years go by, and one day, Ryder walks back into her life. But is he the same man she fell in love with? He seems to have some sort of secret that he won’t tell her about. Piper is determined to get the old Ryder back and will do anything it takes! This story has all the feels! While reading this book, I tried to guess what his secret was, but the author gave no hints, so you will have to find out on your own by reading this wonderful story. The characters were so clearly defined that you could actually picture what they looked like in your mind. And their chemistry? Chart topping Hotness! I truly enjoyed the story of Ryder and Piper and highly recommend that everyone read this!
So here’s the thing – I’ve read Dani René since she first started a few years ago, and it’s incredibly easy to see and notice the improvements that she has made to her craft. Where I met her as she wrote her contemporary romance genre, I’ve seen the biggest impact in her dark romances. I`ve come to truly appreciate her ability to meld both the contemporary romance and dark romance genre in a story that is quite interesting and unique on its own. When it comes to Perfectly Flawed, I think I may have expected more than I should have in the sense, which I was expecting to read the same style as I had in the previous 3-4 books from this author, only to realize that it was nothing of the sort. Because of my own expectations, I believe it worked against me, making it harder for me to connect with the characters. There were times when I almost expected darkness, and got fluffy bunnies. And when I expected the feels, I got the dark and the twisted. I wish I could have gotten with the program right from the start, but sadly, I didn`t, which had a huge impact on how I reacted to these characters. I wondered more often than not if Piper was trying to act tougher than she was, or if Ryder was just a jerk who wanted to show that he was as broken as he said. Again, that’s my opinion, and the way that I saw things. I do have to say that this author really wrote this story to make you think and grab your attention from the very beginning, and that’s always a plus for me.
Ryder & Piper, WOW. YA is not one of my go to genres but this authors first dip in the YA pond had me hooked from the start. From lust filled hormonal teenagers to young adults fighting their attraction, and losing, these two characters will draw you into every emotion they feel and make you feel it just as deeply. Upon his return to his hometown years later than he promised, Ryder at first seems like he has a chip on his shoulder, but as he and Piper bond over the love they share, dancing, we find out there is a whole lot more to this young man than appears on the surface. His time away from Piper was spent dealing with a lot tougher things than his feelings for her, his best friend Preston's little sister.
Piper can't believe he finally came back, he's really home, but is he they same Ryder she fell for at just 14 yrs old?? He's older and manlier on the outside, but to she knows he's hiding something inside that's stopping him from showing her how he really feels. She's waited too long for him so she won't back down from finding out what's going on with him, what he's really hiding. She knows he's the other half of her soul, she's always known, she just needs to get him to see it to and she'll fight anyone and anything that stands in her way, even her family.
We get to hear this beautiful story from both sides allowing us to get inside the heads and hearts of this young couple torn apart at too soon but brought back to where they are supposed to be, by each others side.
Perfectly Flawed is the perfect title for this book, because no-one is perfect and everyone deserves someone to love them, flaws and all.
Pain, fear, sadness and guilt are all the butterfly and the wolf know. Love and happiness dancing in the distance just out of reach. A temptation and a half.
A real life doll called Piper, dressed and presented to society by her mother. Fragments of her shattered heart falling to the floor with each event.
An inked bad boy, with hazel autumnal eyes that see more than his best friends little annoying sister.
Together they dance, freeing their souls, teaching their feet to dance around their hearts.
A promise to each other, a new life to start, but is the song they dance to about to play a different beat.
Taboo, darkness, angst, and dance heaven in a book. I was in my element reading this. I completely zoned out and nothing existed beyond the words of Dani. A perfect end to my day.
Ryder popped and dropped into my heart with each n every move. Though he may appear to be a wild wolf, there was so much to him. His loyalty and devotion made my heart soar.
Piper broke my heart, as she lived the life she didn't want. Her desire overwhelmed me, and her love of dance sealed our connection.
Two truely fantastic characters, and a profoundly intense and heartfelt story of passion, perception, and interpretation seduced me.
You might not know this but you need this in your life!
This story hit me in all the feels. Starting with the dedication, all the way to the last page. Going into a novel named Perfectly Flawed, you know it’s going to take you through the emotional wringer. And, cry did Dani René make me do. What a beautiful story I found inside these pages. You have two souls broken in two very different but similar ways. But, where one refused to give up, the other demanded solidarity to save others from that “consuming blackness.”
I was so frustrated with Ryder at one point because I just didn’t understand what kept holding him back. Everything he every wanted was right in front of him. So much anger! And he’s continue to deny himself. When René shocked me with that massive twist, I automatically started crying. The way this author was able to convey such self-hate and torture really hit me in the heart. I wanted to throw myself into the kindle and give Our perfectly flawed Ryder the biggest hug ever, while getting him an extra cold soda.
Piper... that woman. For just being 20 years old, she was wise beyond her years. Having such a strength I found admirable. I couldn’t not say absolutely anything about her character. Dani René couldn’t have written a better heroine. The yin to Ryder’s yang **wipes tears away**
Perfectly Flawed is so worth the five star rating. I demand you all read it and clutch you hearts along with me. Can’t wait to see what Ms. René has is store for us next.
I wasn't in the camp that cried over a certain character. I'm sorry but I just didn't feel it. Who knows why? Don't get wrong. I really liked the characters. Ryder was definitely flawed but beautifully in his own special way. Piper was strong, stubborn, and yet wise beyond her years. She knew what she wanted out of life and love. Piper didn't sit on the sidelines and say woe is me. She went out and got her version of HEA.
Ugh... I don't know if it was only me but I didn't like Piper's brother, Preston. I don't know if there was any type of redeeming qualities. I wish I knew a little bit more about Jeremiah. The storyline's focus seemed to be on Ryder and Piper. The relationship which seemed to be perfectly flawed.
What can I say about Perfectly Flawed???? Outstanding!!Ms René is f*#king amazing!! My first read by this author although I’ve definitely heard of her work for quite sometime. I am gutted it’s taken me so long because I’ve been missing out!!!
This book was raw. Ryder and Piper’s story is breathtakingly beautiful, their love was deep and profound. This was a gutsy read packed with angst. Piper was stunningly fiery and feisty and Ryder who didn’t think he deserved her.
What I loved about this book most was how polished it was, everything flowed, nothing (as in Ryder or Piper’s relationship and feelings) seemed rushed. This is DEFINITELY a book I could revisit time and time again.
Perfectly Flawed? No, just Perfect for me! I wish I could give more than 5* for this book.
Ryder, has had a tough go of things in life. Yes, he comes from a life of privilege, but money does not buy happiness and love. He has one thing that makes him truly happy, and that's dancing. Until his best friend prestige introduces him to his little sister, Piper. Piper, is expected to conform. Be the perfect daughter, in the perfect clothes that goes to the fancy parties with her parents, and does ballet. Thing is, that's never been who Piper is, she just can't make her parents understand that. When Ryder left he not only broke her heart, he broke every promise he made her. Now four years later he comes back not at all the same person he was when he left.
This book is the most, "Oh my Gods I'm gonna cry" book this author has put out, in my opinion. So may times I teared up on this one. It's definitely a book that makes you think on things. What one person sees as broken and flawed, another can see as the most beautiful in the world. Don't ever count yourself out. Don't give up on what you want. This book teaches a lesson in that aspect. I loved this book and everything in it. It can make you learn to love again. ------------------------------ There's an old Japanese custom called Kintsugi. That when a piece of pottery breaks, you put it back together with gold, so it's even more beautiful than it was before. Their way of it is, nothing broken is unwanted or flawed. It can be as beautiful, valuable, and useful after as it was before. Sometimes the most beautiful things are broken.
What an absolutely beautiful book! I fell in love both Ryder and Piper from the very start. There is no way not to! There’s always been a pull between Ryder and Piper. She was only fourteen and he was seventeen. It was pure and innocent and just kept developing. Ryder never acted on his impulses always taking into account her age and not being able to give her what she deserves. Piper knew from a tender age he was the one. Her feelings so strong,so powerful she knew it would last a lifetime. What a gripping heart wrenching story. Ryder and Piper’s story drew out every emotion I possess. “She’s been part of me for far too long. The young girl who didn’t fit in,beside the boy who always stood out.”-Ryder I loved this quote so much! Ryder and Piper fit together perfectly! Two pieces of a puzzle that are the perfect match that completes the whole picture. Their love is so intense,so real but sometimes what fate has in store is stronger. *The cover is just stunning! One of the things I appreciate about Ms. Rene, other than her talent, her magnificent writing and her stories are her covers. She always chooses them to match the hero/heroine to a tee! What you see on the cover matches exactly who your reading about.
WOW! I've read other books by Dani Rene but Perfectly Flawed is perfectly written. Dani knows how to write a story that keeps you entranced till the end and leaving you wanting more.
One of the most anticipated romances of 2018 and after finishing, I now know why. Ryder and Piper's story is fantastic.
Ryder Kingsley makes Piper Beaufort a promise to come back from LA but when he does come back, 2 years later than promised, he's different. Something has changed in him, but what exactly. Ryder tries to push Piper away but nothing he says or does will change the way she feels. Piper has loved him from the very first smile. Will the secrets that are revealed change all of that?
I absolutely adored these two characters. The hurt and heartbreak that they both go through on their way to giving into what they truly want, is like no other. The chemistry between Piper and Ryder can almost be felt while reading. Emotions played a big part while reading, I don't think there was a chapter that my eyes didn't tear up. I spent parts of the story trying to figure out what it was that Ryder was keeping from Piper - impossible to do. You wanna know what Ryder's secret is, read Perfectly Flawed.
This book is so good! It captivated me from the first page until the last. I read it in one sitting. Young love and great friendships. Ryder is misunderstood by most people in his life. Piper fell in love with him when she was a young teenager. Together they are perfect. A beautiful story that I fell in love with. I highly recommend this book! *Magic Beyond The Covers Book Blog*
This beautiful very emotional story is everything and Ryder and Piper will capture your heart and you will feel every single sad and happy moment as these two go through the struggles of just surviving and craving each other like no other this goes very deep but not knowing if its possible and the speaking through dance was amazing and I smiled and cried at how beautiful torn up they were and cheering at the same time. I loved Pipers determination this girl does not give up and she knows exactly what she wants and I was so proud of her and her heart is huge with feelings and if anyone can help Ryder through its this girl. I loved every word and couldn't get enough just amazing beautiful words
Perfectly Flawed, is perfectly good. It's about a love that's too much for the mind and a love that's too much for the heart. It's a tale about how two people, will fight for what they want, even if they don't believe they don't deserve it.
Perfectly Flawed, is one of Dani's best. It's gritty, edgy, and raw. Its gonna open up your heart to all the feelings. I really like this book, it's perfect.
Perfectly Flawed is a standalone, coming-of-age /new adult , angsty, evocative , offbeat , romantic and multi-layered tale. It take you on an emotional journey of love, self esteem and acceptance.
I found this story deeply moving and endearing. The writing feels personal and intimate . The MC are developed and charismatic . And the plotline it's interesting, the plot twist keep you engaged and the resolution it's satisfying and unexpected.
As with all my reviews, I don't do spoilers or rehash what you already know from the blurb ; what I do it's tell you what it made me feel. And that is : that love is a many- splendored thing .
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
