“I wasn’t looking for an earring,” she realized with awe. “I was searching for my soul mate.”

“You found him. He’s never letting you go again.”

This evocative tale concludes the story that began in A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire, about two young women's search for a special pair of earrings. It's a sweetly romantic novel filled with bittersweet passion, insta-lust, familial bonds and of life coming full circle so that Fate can right the wrongs that had been done to a pair of tragic lovers, over 50 years ago.

I enjoyed this novel a lot more than the first in the duology. Both novels are set along the same timeline, so that each couple's respective romance progresses simultaneously. In this story, the heroine Rozi ( the cousin of the heroine from A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire ) travels from New York to Hungary to convince Viktor Rohan ( the H ) to sell his half of the pair of earrings that had once belonged to her grandmother Eszti.

This is the hot Hungarian H, Viktor:

He was gorgeous. And a count, not that Hungary allowed their nobility to use their titles, but it was one more thing that made him ultra-intriguing. From the moment Rozalia had searched his name, she’d been enthralled with the look of him—all dark and brooding with short black hair, a strong brow line and a squared-off, clean-shaven jaw.

This is the heroine, Rozi ( Rozalia )

A slow smile filled her expression with even more light. He thought of artwork that depicted angels of grace and goddesses of fertility, none of which had ever caused such a brilliant thrust of heat to swell in him. Oh, yes, this one was definitely his.

Rozi's an adorable, impish heroine who's unaware of her own attraction because she's always lived in the shadows of her more overtly glamorous cousin Gisella. Like her cousin, she's also a goldsmith who works for the Barsi family's jewellery store on Fifth Avenue. Viktor is an imperturbable, aloof and arrogant H who trusts no one - especially if that person happens to be female. He's drawn to Rozi when they first meet but he thinks she's out to con him or leverage her feminine wiles in exchange for the earring.

Viktor's primary concern is to spearhead his multi billion dollar steel empire and to protect his family's name from scandal. He's irritated by the earnest heroine; he believes that her grandmother Eszti had stolen his family's famous heirloom earrings 50+ years ago after her lover Isvtan ( his late great uncle ) had been killed in Budapest's revolutionary riots of 1956.

Rozi is, unsurprisingly, shocked !

She's determined to buy back the earring and prove that her grandmother is innocent of the accusations, but sexual chemistry temporarily eclipses these mundane matters:

All from a kiss. From the sweet rough rake of his mouth across hers. A swipe of ownership, yes, but of enticement. Come with me. Let me show you.

In one extremely sensuous scene, with lots of sexy, wicked verbal foreplay, the MC's end up having hot sex the very first night they meet.

The aftermath isn't that romantic or sexy, though, because Viktor's suspicious nature kicks in and he accuses Rozi of using her virginity as a bargaining chip. The appalled heroine, rushes back to her hotel where she's awoken the next morning by the Budapest police. Apparently, the earring ( which Viktor had forgotten to place into his private safe ) has been stolen.

The beleaguered heroine is dragged off to the police station where she's interrogated and jailed !

It's all sorted out soon enough, when Viktor realizes that Trudi, a wannabe OW his mother wants him to marry, had deliberately misplaced the earring in an effort to implicate the heroine. One of the best scenes in the story occurs when Viktor gives Trudi her walking papers:

Mischief. Childish malicious mischief.

“I don’t care for games, Trudi. Or possessiveness, especially when it’s so misplaced. Do not hang around Budapest for me,” he said flatly and ended their call.

Their “budding relationship” was dead on the vine.

Viktor then steps in to make amends for being an asshole to Rozi. He takes her away to his luxury chalet in the Carpathian Mountains. The unplanned pregnancy trope then comes into the picture and the H's determined to marry Rozi, so that the baby will be legitimate. We're also introduced to Viktor's mother and his great aunt, who finally reveals truth about how the earrings had come into Eszti's possession all those years ago. Viktor's mother Mara was quite annoying and snobbish towards the heroine.

The MC's relationship develops and just when they're on the verge of falling in love, the Barsi fraud scandal erupts, leading the H to throw unjust accusations and rescind his marriage proposal. The hot sex and witty banter are replaced by agonizing silence. In a heartbreaking turn of events, the heroine returns to New York to console her family during their time of need and to celebrate her cousin Gisella's engagement to Kaine Michaels. They're reunited when Viktor realizes that he loves her and comes after her.

This was a beautifully written novel, that evokes a lot of emotion from this reader - not just for the MC's but for the heroine's grandmother Eszti and her tragic romance with Istvan. I feel silly to admit this, but I felt like crying during the scenes where Eszti and Istvan's doomed history was revealed. It seemed so senseless that the young and pregnant Eszti would lose the love of her life and have no choice but to migrate to the USA to escape the turbulence of revolutionary Hungary.

Eszti's story reminded me of a Danielle Steele heroine who eventually finds another man ( Benedek ) that loves her and whom she adores, but who will never replace her soul mate ( Istvan ). What really wrung at my heart was the fact that Viktor was a veritable doppelganger of Istvan and Rozi bore a strong resemblance to Eszti. The eternal romantic within me embraced the notion that maybe Fate was trying to make amends by giving a HEA to the descendants of these tragic lovers:

“Oh, Grandmamma will like that.” Gisella nodded approval. “Your story is so amazing, don’t you think? Eszti’s granddaughter is marrying Istvan’s great-nephew. It’s almost as if a higher power had a hand in bringing you two together.”

The author obviously did a lot of research into gemstones and the craft of a goldsmith, since she wrote about this subject matter with a lot of confidence. This was more than just a romance about a man and a woman; it was a tale about family and its legacy of love, loyalty and trust. Above all, it's about a pair of earrings, that my cynical mind had poked fun at in my review of A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire; a pair of earrings that symbolizes the unbreakable power of generational familial bonds.

In the sweet epilogue, the MC's are parents to a little girl named Ester and she seems destined to become a great goldsmith like her mother. I love romance novels that deal with more than just the 2 MC's and hot sex. Maybe it's because I've recently turned 30, but it's wonderful to read a novel that incorporates a larger story into the mix of things. It gives a greater purpose to the narrative, because let's face it: anybody can write cheesy stuff about inserting a penis into a vagina, but it takes a lot of heart and skill to put pen to paper and create a story that touches my own heart and engages my emotions.

Nothing says it better than:

Safety: No cheating, no OM and a wannabe OW who had never had sex with the H.

Given all the high ratings, I think this is a me not you situation.

For me, hero was a stinker.

After sex without a condom, he accuses her of holding on to her virginity as a get out of jail free card.

He offers to pay for the morning after pill.

Speaking of getting out of jail, he has her, kind of, arrested when a family earring/heirloom goes missing.

He gets petulant when he finds out that getting arrested and thrown in jail on trumped up charges essentially instigated by an off page OW prevented the heroine from taking that morning after pill.

He won’t let her go home to see her mother.

He’s revokes the HP hero rule that the pregnant mother of your unborn child should be cherished and wrapped in cotton wool even of you think she’s a gold-digging hussy especially when she falls into a pregnancy decline with constant morning sickness and stress.

When she tells him she needs to see her family because she needs someone to care about her….

“I’ve found an apartment.” Inside she writhed in agony. Only her voice revealed her pain, and only in its hollow emptiness. “I’m confident I can find a job to support myself. I don’t expect you to pay my bills. We’ll work out a custody arrangement before the baby is born.”

He might have been gray beneath his normally swarthy tan, but her vision was fading in and out with anxiety.

“Now who is trying to punish?” he charged in a voice filled with gravel.

“That’s not what this is.” In fact, she was beseeching him for understanding. “We’re barely speaking, Viktor. You’re not even coming home for dinner.”

“To eat alone?” His tone lashed sharp as a whip. He touched his forehead, then put his hand out in a halt, retaking hold of his own temper.

She looked to the floor, unable to deny that she was either too sick or fast asleep, so not much company.

Gee, what a prince.

I never warmed up to him even when he did his “too little too late” gesture, and I wasn’t too impressed with her emotional gymnastics to prove she was trustworthy.

The writing and the angst is well done though.

Oh my goodness... I love this book! I think I just OD'd on feels rt now... so I'm going to hold off on the review until I can get it together.

Viktor and Rozalia’s story was fantastic! These two had so many of the characteristics that I'm always looking for in my next “One Night With Consequences” read!

This is a surprise pregnancy story, and I am very picky about what I enjoy in this trope. Mostly it henges on the hero for me. He can F* it up real quick! I was nervous about Viktor’s character. Being Mr. Dark & Broody, I never knew what to expect from him. I wasn't sure how far he would take his alpha-assholeness, and use it against Rozi. It had me on pins and needles. He was a jerk who said and did the wrong things in the beginning, but by the end his heartfelt love for Rozi was everything!

Rozi was awesome! She was such a cool character, and I loved everything about our heroine. She is on Viktor’s mansion’s doorstep, looking for a family heirloom bestowed to her grandmother. Her sweetness, innocence, and intelligence draws Viktor in like “White on Rice. As the story progresses, her character grows and evolves into something stronger. There were several times in this book she proves that she doesn’t need a man, and won’t settle for anything less than LOVE in a relationship! What made her even better was how mature and strong her character was. Loved her and her strong heartfelt comebacks to Viktor’s entitledness.

I enjoyed this book so much, heartbreak and all! The character growth and pain were well worth it for THAT HEA! I'm hoping Dani Collins writes Gisella Drummond’s (the cousin) story as well. With stories like this, who wouldn’t want more? I wouldn't mind seeing more of Viktor and Rozi if she was to write the cousin’s book.

I just want to say that the finale to this duology is Ben's story. (Ben Barsi the one who took the hit for the loss of the family fortune, got heavily fined and is now jobless and homeless. It is a short story on Harlequin.com under the heading 'Online Reads.' It is the conclusion to the original duology and starts at Viktor's and Rozi's wedding...I think.

I love this book and did a reread today. I thought the duology and the short story on Ben was very good. I will continue to read this at least once or twice a year.

This was a sweet and fun read.

Our heroine, Rozalia and her cousin are trying to retrieve an earring for their dear Grandma that has sentimental value to her. Both girls design and work with jewelry. Two men they believe, had one earring from the pair. Each cousin has a mission to get that earring. Rozalia, has seen a picture of our hero, Viktor and was drawn to it/him. Her cousin was to visit him to retrieve the earring but Rozalia convinces her to let her visit Viktor.

When she travels across the country and arrives at the front door of his mansion her reception isn't that warm. But there definitely is an instant attraction. Neither can ignore and end up in bed. Viktor is closed off as his family life/childhood wasn't warm and cozy. He fights his attraction too Rozalia as he doesn't know if he trusts her and then there's the possibility of her being pregnant. His family doesn't do scandal.

The two characters are both strong and well developed. They are learning to work through their trust issues and figure out how their relationship is going to work. Their feelings for each other evolve into something strong and deeper than either expected. Rozalia's pregnancy then becomes a priority for both and decide to marry. The earring and trust are something the two need to work through and get past. I liked the dialogue and sparring conversation the two had. I appreciated the way they resolved their difference and came to a sweet and endearing end and their HEA.

I loved, loved the epilogue!!!

One of DC with a good angst and misunderstandings galore.
There’s a weak plot because the heroine goes to Hungary in search of a earring that should be her grandmother’s, and no, I don’t want to talk about it since it is a really silly matter.
But it’s the reason why she meets the hero, who’s also a titled and not very friendly kind of guy even though he’s quite a hunk.
To make story short he decides to listen to her plea and has a severe case of insta lust with this young woman who’s quite the girl next door kind of girl and also a virgin.
A virgin he doesn’t hesitate to seduce without even bothering with a condom, since the insta lust sickness is now at its worst.
And when, the morning after, he doesn’t find the earring because his would be ow hides it without telling him, he thinks the heroine stole it and calls the police.
Imagine the anguish of the poor (literally) heroine, alone and scared in a foreign country in a distant continent, manhandled and harassed by the police.
As soon as the hero realizes his mistake he’s regretful and sorry and offers to her to stay with him until they don’t know if she’s pregnant.
In the meantime they bond and decide that since it looks like she is probably pregnant, they will give marriage a try. (Yes… that romantic)
And then there’s the second angsty moment when the heroine’s family find themselves in a very ugly scandal and the hero, showing a great amount of idiocy and selfishness, throws a tantrum as if this is the heroine’s fault.
For him the good name of his family is more important than her and his child.
Nice a**hole.
Of course he redeems himself in the end and goes back to her groveling and with the tail between his legs, so all is well in the end.
It all happens in a matter of days so his dumbness is quite brief and he’s ready to win her back.
Yes the man is a dumb jerk, dumb because he gets the poor heroine pregnant at first sight and jerk because he treats her badly not once but twice, but thanks to these misunderstandings the book is interesting and angsty and imo a satisfying reading.

The H was a cold, unfeeling jerk for most of the book. The h was sweet and kind and smart. I love that she is a goldsmith and gemologist-how cool is that?

Despite the H being unable to trust and love, he slowly warms up and his treatment of the h opens his eyes. The ending was very romantic and the H makes up for all his actions leaving me very satisfied.

Note to self: this is the second "earring" story.

After a sluggish opening, this turned into a touching love story. There are numerous reviews of this one, so I won't go into to details, but I really loved the heroine and how her sweet nature wore down the hero's trust issues.

Melody Cox's review directed me to Innocent’s Pregnancy Revelation a free online read which tells the story of the cousin who was duped and caused financial harm to the family.

4.5 stars ... I really wish GR would give the option of half stars!
Anyways; I have a lot of reviews to write so I am doing mainly a few lines only (lazy me)
lovely and gentle h, handsome H, some truly great chemistry and a very sweet story ...
and it was such a nice surprise to read about a H who is happy with h's potential pregnancy and those scenes where she is panicking or hormonal but he is so happy ... oh those were some lovely and touching moments indeed ... he is so happy but is trying to be sensitive ... he cuddles and pampers her in those moments ...

My dear friend “Shallow Reader,” loves Dani Collins and that’s rec enough for me. After the intensity of Griffiths’s Stranger Diaries and especially its Victorian-gothic length, I was happy to read a snappy category romance. Snap it did, Ms Collins’s Innocent’s Nine-Month Scandal, with my favourite kind of HP heroine, kind, generous, plain-Jane, funny, and a deliciously broody hero, not too annoyingly domineering, but definitely in the strong, caretaker arena.

Collins’s plot was HP-fare ludicrous. Rozalia Toth is in Budapest looking to find the mate to her grandmother’s earring, given to grammy, in troth, by her true-love during what may be (Collins doesn’t make this explicit) the uprising of ’56? Sadly, gram’s true-love succumbed in the riots and she travelled to America, pregnant and destitute, where she made a marriage-of-convenience with one Benedick Barsi. As grammy is now getting on, Rozalia wants to give her the chance to see the earrings as a pair. Many convoluted family connections are discussed between hero and heroine, but I admit I didn’t give them much attention. Plot isn’t why one reads an HP.

One of the earrings happens to be in the possession of brooding billionaire Hungarian hero, Viktor Rohan. Rozalia has made her way to his Budapest castle. Viktor is flinty-eyed suspicious of this American ingenue, but also potently, powerfully, and never-before-felt-this-attraction-to-a-woman overwhelmed with desire. Rozalia, a 24-year-old virgin, as our HP is wont to have, stands up to his broodiness and mistrust, but can’t resist his magnetic sexuality. They do the deed, forget the condom and—ta da—baby on the way and Viktor’s inelegant you’ll-have-to-marry-me-now proposal.

HPs are to romance what Nanaimo bars are to dessert: not too often, but when you have one, it hits the sweet-tooth spot. An HP stands only on how readily the reader immerses herself in its romance-uber-fantasy. It either draws you in and makes you happy with a jolt of romance-concentrate, or it spits you out with eye-rolling disdain. The key is in writing a combination of wit and pathos that only its greatest practitioners achieve (and not necessarily in every book): Lynne Graham, Sarah Morgan, Caitlin Crews, Kelly Hunter, Jennifer Hayward, Michelle Smart, the long-lost India Grey and Kate Hewitt, and now, Dani Collins. (I haven’t ventured into vintage HP territory, lest this post go on forever, but if you’re a fan, you know who they are.)

Collins’s Innocent possesses a perfect balance of pathos and wit, the uber-fantasy of a hero too good-looking, too wealthy, too potent, and too protective to be believable; the reader is assured the heroine will never suffer for material, emotional, or sexual want. The heroine, on the other hand, is an ordinary gal made extraordinary by her personal qualities and ability to move the hero’s heart (and other bits). Viktor and Rosalia are engaging characters. Rozalia, a blend of pragmatism and romanticism, humour, ability to fend for herself and take a moral stance against the hero’s money and power, is adorable. Viktor, as I’ve noted in recent HP heroes, while secretly concerned about Rozalia and needy for her emotionally, doesn’t come across as too insufferably commanding. No matter how much he wants to take over, he respects Rozalia.

Rozalia and Viktor are a rare breed in the HP because they are compatible. But Collins still has to give them a dark moment; this is where her romance falters. A lumbering old out-of-the-blue “thing” happens and Viktor turns cold and broody again. Heroine tears are shed, for Rozalia loves him. Viktor agonizes and frets till his road-to-Damascus realization of love for Rozalia comes about. Thank goodness it’s dispatched quickly. One final critique: not sure if it’ll work for other readers, but Collins’s love scenes are overblown (sorry, not sorry) fireworks, all mate-calling-to-mate ORNATE. They are baroque. On the other hand, I admired her unabashed embracing of purple prose. If it’s an HP, she owns it. With Miss Austen, we say Innocent’s Nine-Month Scandal offers “real comfort,” Emma.

Dani Collins’s Innocent’s Nine-Month Scandal is published by Harlequin Books. It releases today, March 19, and may be found at your preferred vendor. I received an e-ARC from Harlequin Books, via Netgalley.

I loved this story, sensual, moving and just wow from the start with her fabulous characters, Dani Collins pulled me in from page one, I have been looking forward to Rozalia’s story and I was not disappointed.

Rozalia Toth along with her cousin are searching for a pair of earrings that were given to their grandmother many years ago that have been separated and missing for years, Rozi takes a trip to Hungry to try and buy one of them but when she gets there and meets the owner of the earring the handsome Viktor Rohan chaos abounds as Rozi falls for him and then ends up in jail, stressful and very sensual times.

Viktor Rohan has been hurt badly in the past and he now trust no one, so when this beautiful young woman turns up trying to have a meeting with his mother about an earring he cannot believe how his body and mind react to her and he is convinced that she is out to get what she wants, but will she end up showing him that love it the way to go.

I loved the setting in this one and the emotions that fly from the pages, with consequences from their first night Viktor is determined to be a father to the baby even if love is not on the cards, but as Rozi wants to love so much, these pair have a very emotional, sensual and up and down journey to such a beautiful HEA, this is a must read truly l loved this one and highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this book. It was a better story than The first book in the series “A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire”. Giselle and Kane’s story was good but Rozi and Viktor’s story was much more intense and it also cleared up the confusion of grandmama’s earrings. I loved the way the author wrapped it all up.

A really satisfying read.

Innocent’s Nine-Month Scandal by Dani Collins is a sexy ‘unexpected pregnancy’ romance and a companion to the also enjoyable A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire. Both stories take place concurrently and star two cousins on a quest to find their grandmother’s fabled pair of earrings that helped her establish herself in America.

Rozella ‘Rozi’ Toth has arrived in Hungary to convince Viktor Rohan, a relative of her cousin Gisella to sell her an earring that once belonged to their grandmother. Their family links are somewhat complicated but the women are lifelong friends and want to retrieve the earrings that they were told were given to their grandmother by her first love Istvan just before he died. She sold one in Hungary (that Viktor now has) in order to get to America with her unborn child, Istvan’s baby, and sold the other on arrival. She met her soon to be husband and the Barsi jewelry empire was established. Both Rozi and Gisella are part of the family jewelry business as designers and their interest in the earrings is personal and professional.

Viktor has no interest in giving Rozi the earring that he believes was stolen by Rozi’s grandmother Eszti according to what his mother was told. But he’s not above succumbing to the instant attraction between them in a passionate encounter. The next morning when the earring is missing, he assumes Rozi stole it, leading to a short stint for her in jail (!) until he discovers that one of the women his mother is trying to set him up with hid the earring out of spite. When Viktor gets Rozi out of jail and takes her to his country home to avoid the paparazzi, they realize that there’s a chance she could be pregnant – and indeed she is. He insists on marriage, but after their rocky start, can they find their way to a happy ending?

INNOCENTS NINE-MONTH SCANDAL by author Dani Collins is an April 2019 release by Harlequin Presents series. This is Book 2 of Dani Collins’ mini-series. Both books are standalones.

Book 1: A Virgin to Redeem the Billionaire - March 2019
Book 2: Innocents Nine-Month Scandal – April 2019

Rozalia Toth was after the earrings her grandmother had sold off to make a living when she reached America. So she, along with her cousin, wanted to get the pair of earrings for their grandmother.

But would he forgive and forget? After spending a passion-filled night together, there were consequences. And Rohan wanted Rozalia to stay with him. A big thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I enjoyed the story. Found it to be unique, and really enjoyed the history aspect. It was a quick read and fun. I believe it is part of a series but reads well as a stand alone. I give it 4 stars. I think most romance readers would enjoy.

I don't think Viktor knows what ti di with his woman's sassiness, “I’m always very nice when I dress someone down.” She blinked her lengthened lashes. “You barely felt it at all.” Viktor doesn't like seeing his girl upset, “I’ll buy you a new one,” he dismissed. It was nothing. Not worth that look of utter defeat on her face." I liked this book, I loved Viktor.

Having read the previous book from this duet, I already had the setup and knew what was going on right away with the grandmother’s earring and some of the family history that came into and didn’t really need to orient myself to the basic storyline. Also I knew basically what the setup was for Viktor and Rozalia’s romance since it was teased in book number one. The setup with Viktor and Rozalia intrigued me from that setup because it felt like there was going be some good angst and misunderstanding between the two before they got their happily ever after. So I was very interested to read this story.

I will say that this one was the better duet out of the two. A big reason for that was that I got more of the feels while reading this book than the other one, and I connected more to this story. I felt that Rozalia and Viktor had more natural chemistry than Kaine and Gisella did in their book. Rozalia and Viktor’s chemistry just flowed more easily and more naturally throughout the story, and I could feel the chemistry and attraction burning between them while in Gisella and Kaine’s case I felt like I was being told that they had chemistry, instead of feeling it myself, and I didn’t care for that. So this book was quite an improvement in my opinion.

I would have preferred there to be a little bit more build up between Rozalia and Viktor as they tried to fight their attraction to each other throughout the story. I just don’t care for two strangers sleeping together the first time that they meet and going into a love scene perfectly content of this being a one night stand. It’s turn off for me in and romance not just this one. I prefer the slow burn that develops and burns throughout the story until it explodes. There are rare occasion where the first time/strangers/one night stand theme doesn’t bother me, but it has to been written in a certain way so that I’m totally into and get why they had to sleep together that very minute like its a force they can’t help or stop. I didn’t quite feel that in this story, and it bothered me a tad that they slept together so soon, though at the same time I wasn’t turned off by the idea either like I usually am in that type of trope.

A big reason that I wasn’t totally turned off by the fact that they slept together as soon as they did was because of how the love scene was written and how well it came across that it was in fact an intimate act between the two of that went beyond the physical. It was a special moment between the two of them. A connection that they had never felt with another person. The way the scene was written there was great build up between them in those moments from every touch and every kiss. I loved how much time they spent just kissing and touching that was more about being closer to one another than just the physical act. It was very intimate and very sensual experience that was beautiful to see on the page. And that carried over to the other love scenes in the book as well. The most satisfying part of the love scenes was the intimacy and connection between Rozalia and Viktor that felt very real and very special between them. I loved the little things out of those scenes like the kissing and touching, which lead to great intimacy between the two of them. I loved seeing them hold each other and just enjoy each other in those moments of pure bliss where it was more about their special connection than just the physical release. It was about them as a coupe and showed the level of caring and respect that they had between them. My favorite love scene was the second one where they were just wrapped up in each other, being close in every way possible and rushing to the grand finale as they enjoyed the little moments between the two of them at that special moment. I love that. That’s how at least one love scene should be in one romance.

There was a bit of angst and misunderstanding between the two of them to complicate their relationship. It happened after their first time together when Viktor accused Rozalia of stealing from him hence leading to her arrest. As you can imagine that did go so well, but what disturbed Rozalia the most was the fact that Viktor would think of her as a thief and not trust her especially after they shared that special moment together the night before. It hurt her and caused her to be wary of him when they reunited once more. So, they had to rebuild that trust and connection between them hence the angst. I would have preferred a little more angst to the story in order to up the intensity a little more, but it was decent especially compared to Kaine and Gisella’s book where there wasn’t a lot. I appreciated that the angst was in there, but I think it could have been a lot more gut wrenching and could have torn my heart out a bit more. That’s what I’m usually expecting from angst in romance. I liked that it was in here, but I could have done with more.

Even though Rozalia and Viktor had developed his special, intimate connection to one another and began to care about one another, I didn’t quite feel like Viktor was head over heels in love with Rozalia yet. He was getting there, but I don’t think he was quite there yet. I just didn’t feel it. There just needed to either be another scene or gesture or something that would convinced me of his great love for her. There was just something missing on that score.

I appreciated the whole earring storyline in this duet and found it very unique and different from anything I have read in order to bring these couples together, however sometimes I didn’t care for it and it took away from both romances a bit. I understand that it was part of a romantic story that paralleled to the heroines own love stories, but I think since the ladies didn’t have the real story and had the more romanticized version of it and kind of found out throughout both their stories that it wasn’t what it originally seemed and less romantic that it kind skewed the premise of the duet a little bit. It wasn’t a big deal, but something about it just didn’t feel right and kind of took away from the beauty of the story a bit of these two granddaughter wanting to get these earrings for their grandmother who had sentimental value to these earrings. Only to find out that the grandmother really ddin’t have sentimental value for these earrings after all, and that really took away from the story for me a bit. I wish the grandmother could have at least seen the earrings or was reunited with them, and the fact that she didn’t kind of took away of whole point of it in the first place. I wanted a more satisfactory conclusion to that storyline than I got.

This definitely was the better of the two in this duet. It wasn’t perfect, and there are other Dani Collins books that I love, adore, and consider some of my favorite stories more than this one, but it was still good and I enjoyed a lot. There were some really great and beautiful intimate moments between Rozalia and Viktor especially during their love making scenes. I liked seeing them build that intimate connection between them and just enjoy it and not rush throughout it. I liked that they made it more about their connection on every level besides just physical. I loved how they savored kissing and touching one another and just basking in that. The love scenes were really well written and very well built up in those moments as well as throughout their journey in the book. I liked that there was angst in the book, even if it was only a little. There was a lot more tension in this book than in the previous one as they learn about each other and how to trust one another and how that grew and developed over time. I definitely got some good feels from this one, which made me extremely happy especially after the disappointment from the previous book. There were some things missing for me like the fact that I didn’t quite believe that he was head over heels in love with Rozalia yet, but knowing he was getting to that point. I just think there should have been more of a grand gesture with the earrings that would have showed the level of love that he had for her. Yes, he allowed her to see the earring for herself, but I think what would have put over the top and show so much more was if he actually gave her the earring himself. That would have put it over the top for me. He just needed to do more than just follow her to prove his love for her. The intensity the could have be upped a little bit more as well angst that would have consumed me and made fall in love with it, but it was still a good story, and I wasn’t disappointed with it like I was book one. Even if it wasn’t my favorite story of all time, it was still good and I was glad I read it.

"Innocent's Nine-Month Scandal" by Dani Collins is the second book in her 'One night with consequences' series. You don't have to read the two books in order but the first one ties into the second. It can also be a read alone since the author does a great job explaining all the characters in the story. This is Viktor Rohan and Rozalia (Rozi) Toth's story. Rozi is in search of an earring that belonged to her Grandmother. There is much more to the story than her Grandmother let on, and Viktor is not willing to give the earring up since it belongs to his family, and her Grandmother 'stole' it. Rozi finds herself in lust with Viktor, and it doesn't help their relationship that he doesn't trust her motives for being with him.
