And this is it. The battles we have been waiting for since book 1.
It's not the last, final battle but this is one of many end battles that Amel and her loyal friends will face.

Now that Amel knows how the Magikas control The Ifrits, they need to form a plan that will help them defeat them before these dark force seize Dominion City.

But will they come with a good plan? Will they be victorious over a battle against the darkness?

This is a tale of battles, of fear, of despair, of loss of hope, but with little rays of love and companionship. This is a tale you can't miss now that we are nearing the end of the series

Received a copy from the author herself, for an honest review, thank you!

I’ve been addicted to the Dragon School series since I jumped into the first book and am super eager to see how everything comes together. However, by this point in the series, I fear the shine is starting to wear off. At first, I was throwing out constant four-star ratings, yet more recently I’ve found the majority of the books are earning three-star ratings (with a part of me feeling generous). I’m still curious to see how everything comes together, but I’m not as obsessed with this series as I once was.

Dragon School: First Flight, book one, sucked me completely into the world – it was so much more than I’d expected, and I couldn’t wait to get more. Dragon School: Initiate, book two, sucked me in even deeper – it showed me there was more to the story than I’d originally thought, ensuring I would pick up the next. Dragon School: The Dark Prince, book three, was a very important book in the series – it may not have been my favourite book, but it was vital to the overall story. Dragon School: The Ruby Isles, book four, continues to move things forward in a wonderful way – it may not be my favourite of the stories, but it is another important addition. Dragon School: Sword, book five, was another brilliant read, adding more to the series – it was also the book that reminded me why I was following the series in the first place, pulling me back in after a short hiatus.

Dragon School: Dusk Covenant, book six, added plenty of new twists – more than enough to ensure I remained ensnared with the story. Dragon School: First Message, book seven, brought even more to the table – more was added to the storyline, plenty of things leaving me curious as to what would come next. Dragon School: Warring Promises, book eight, left on a serious cliff-hanger – all the books leave on a cliff-hanger, but this was probably the biggest of them all. Dragon School: Prince of Dragons, book nine, was one of my least favourites in the series, but it continued to move things forward for us.

Dragon School: Dark Night, book ten, was one of my favourites in the series, increasing the level of intensity and leaving us with so many expectations. Dragon School: Bright Hopes, book eleven, was a pivotal book in the series, giving us so many new twists and making so many promises for the future. Dragon School: Mark of Loyalty, book twelve, blew all the prior books out of the water, earning it the label as my favourite in the series. Dragon School: Dire Quests, book thirteen, didn’t quite live up to the potential, but I did give it a rounded up three-point-five-star rating. Dragon School: Ancient Allies, book fourteen, was another rounded up rating. Dragon School: Pipe of Wings, book fifteen, was my least favourite, one I was unable to round up despite my desire to do so.

Dragon School: Dragon Piper, book sixteen, came close to being rounded up, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to do so. Dragon School: Dust of Death, book seventeen, felt like a bit of a filler book as not much happened. Dragon School: Troubled War, book eighteen, inched back towards what I liked about the series, but it wasn’t quite there.

With Dragon School: Troubled War, we had another of those dramatic twists thrown in that made the start of the series so enjoyable. With Dragon School: Dust of Death, I felt as though nothing really happened, yet with Dragon School: Troubled War it is clear to see where the development was. However, although it is clear something major did happen with this one, it wasn’t until quite late in the book. In all honesty, I feel as though this book had far too much introspection and not enough action. As the series is about to reach the end, I feel as though there should be a lot more action than there is. As it stands, I was disappointed and expecting more. It was nice to see another twist – although I have a feeling I know how things are going to come together now – I do not feel as though it was quite enough when the series is about to finish.

Overall, Dragon School: Troubled War is a necessity if you wish to see how this series comes together; however, I have reached the point where I’m no longer as obsessed with the series as I once was.

What a ride... (almost literally ;) ). It’s a full out war in this part, and it doesn’t disappoint. Sometimes I could see the images happening right in front of me (I often have trouble keeping track of battles, but I managed fine here). The last part was heart breaking and I was suffering along with Amel. The last few words were actually kind of a relief instead of a huge cliffhanger, but I do really want to know how it continues right now.

Yes, it is war. Amel and her dragon Raolcan are mixed up at the greatest war they had to endure, to safe the Dominion and his true Dominar.
They set up a trap to hold the Dusk Covenant back to enter Dominion City.
Will they succeed?
What is happening to Raolcan?
Was he killed?

Hate Novella 's

Book is good but would never started it if I knew it was in this format. Will pay closer attention next time before purchasing.

It’s an incredible thing to be able to maintain high quality over a multiple volume story arc, but somehow Sarah K. L. Wilson has managed to do so in her wonderful Dragon School series. If you’ve not read this series then I urge you to grab its first book ASAP. Truly the only thing wrong with this series is that it’s totally addictive. For those of my fellow reading addicts, let me assure you that Troubled War maintains the “reading high” you’ve been anticipating from each book. Ifrits and Magikas, armies maneuvering, plots boiling, prophesies coming to a head, danger abounding. - this is one heck of an amazing ride for Amel and her dragon Raolcan, and an equally ride for readers of the story. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. This episode gives us another battle as Amel and the Dragons try to trap the fleeing army of Iskaris. Things are looking dark for Amel but she doesn't loose her faith. Although in the end, I was very sad and it looks really grim and dark, even for Amel.
There was one moment when I didn't agree with Amel. I can understand her feel of betrayal (sorry, trying to avoid spoilers) but she can't really wish for the Dominion and Dragons relationship going on like before. Ok, not all dragons are so nice to humans as Raolcan but to bind them and keep them again under control can't be what they should plan should all end well. Amel already said that this wasn't really right.
Anyway, the cliffhanger at the end of this episode isn't too horrible. But I really want to know what happens next as it is approaching the end of the series and the culminate final battle seems to be around the corner.

I received a complementary copy and this is my honest review.

At first I found Troubled War 3 stars. For me it felt like the story was dragging on... Like I (could it be?) maybe had read enough of Amel and was ready for the finish?

But... The finish could not start with this book and after reading Starie Night I can only give this book the 4 stars it deserves. This is one of those books/episodes that is necessary in a series or show. That binds it all together, but in the high of action and fighting can seem a bit dull. The appreciation for such an moment always comes afterwards, when you are back in the fray with all the information needed to appreciate it.

Roalcan!! I knew he couldn't possibly be dead is one of the main protagonists after all!! I'm glad! But Shonen!! There is no way he can be gone, I can't believe that. If so, even if they win who would be Dominar? Leng maybe? Ahhhh. And then Starie. Normally, I love darkness. It comforts me; darkness does not necessarily equate evil after all. But Starie, she is the definition of evil darkness and its disgusting. I can't believe she can play the pipe! How is that even possible! Trounled war indeed.

Well I have two more books to read. I know the heroes will win, it can't happen any other way, but I fear that it will be bitter sweet. Oh, I hope everyone makes it out okay!

In this, my twenty-first read from author Sarah K.L. Wilson & the nineteenth in the Dragon School series, I've run out of superlatives to describe her writing. This is another amazing read in The Dragon School series! It's all coming to a head & I can't wait for book 20 to come out, although when completed I can see this being republished as an epic with each book being a chapter. What other blurbs can I use to describe these books? Oh well, buy the book, read the books, get into a good author and some good characters as I have. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

The battle intensifies in this latest Dragon School novella. I did not enjoy this book, it broke my heart but I guess that means the author did her job. I am totally involved in this book and this series but as things become increasingly hopeless the battles are longer and harder and the losses greater. I definitely recommend this book, although not an easy read it is an integral part of this brilliant series which is reaching it's climax.

I swear the books in the Dragon School series get better and better each book, pulling you more and more into the world with Amel. As stated every book in this series is better than the last so, yes you gotta read them all to understand what is going on. I can not wait to see what happens in the next book as we are getting closer to the end! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Dragon School: Troubled War is Book 18 and possibly the most intense and saddest story in the series. Amel and her friends have been fighting epic battles, but this is all-out war and, in many ways, a final last stand. The Dusk Covenant with their powerful Magikas and demon Ifrits are not so easily vanquished. Will Amel and her friends survive the battle? Like most of the books in this series, this one ends on a cliffhanger!

I really enjoyed reading this book. This short read is packed with action with plenty of danger and great peril close at hand. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but this is definitely one of the more exciting editions in the Dragon School collection. I'd recommend this book to fans of short reads with plenty of action, adventure and dragons.

As the series nears it's end, things are happening fast. Amel, Leng and the other dragon riders are sent ahead of the army to take out a bridge and trap the enemy. The real Dominar and the usurper battle to the death. The Magikas and Ifrits prove themselves be a force to contend with. Things do not the way they planned and Amel and Leng find themselves in a most precarious position.

Another terrific book!

Full of action, excitement and heartbreak! The dragons and riders give it all to protect the Dominion! But is it a losing battle? There is so much evil spreading across the land. How can they stop it? This is a fantastic book that is a must read. So we'll written and so exciting! Don't miss out!!!

Another great episode!

Another great episode (novella) in the series. The big fight has started! And as is so often the case, nothing goes as planned but Amel, Raolcan, and all the others are not giving up! I cannot wait for next story to find out what happens; luckily I won't have to wait too long!

Getting closer to the final battle and there seems to be danger around every corner. Amel, Leng and their dragons are on a mission, but things don't exactly go as planned. Loved this book so much, but that ending, OMG what??? Can't wait to find out what happens.

Amel is reunited with Leng and together they have to plan a trap against the false Dominior. Someone dies in this book, it's sad but I'm happy it's not someone else. This is all leading up to the end.

Great Story

I don't usually read books filled with so much violence, however all these books have been so well written and are so interesting that I seem to get past the violence and enjoy the characters and the story. I cannot wait to read the next.

Well written

Amal, the heroine, continues to grow as a person in this installment. She has come to the realization that war is not always won by the "good guys". Another great addition to the storyline.

The battle had come to our characters. Who will win? Shonan or Iskaris? Good or evil? Nothing is what it seems.
There will be twists and turns no one expected - check it out in The 18th book on This story

I was intrigued by story-line, characters and dragon antics. Sarah writes a wonderful fantasy with dragons and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. Love the main character and how she over comes her handicap to strive and win.
