5 engrossing, beautiful Cranky Stars!!!

This is the first book I've read by this author and definitely won't be my last. The way she writes pulls you into the story and make you feel all that the characters feel.

Caitlyn Walker lost the love of her life and her best friend. She wears loss like a second skin. Now widowed and scared she runs home to the safety of her family.

Charlie Stewart has loved Caitlyn nearly all his life. She's the girl next door and every fantasy he's ever had. Even after a six year separation he still pines for her. Will his heart be able to withstand losing her once again?

This story had me on the edge of my seat so much that I couldn't put it down. The suspense and love. Fighting for what your heart wants while fighting for your life. The characters are real and people that I'd love to have in my life, and a few I'd love to kill. Such raw and real emotions we're pulled from me.

After being in a book funk for a bit this author pulled me out with the first chapter and left me begging for more. Morgan Campbell is an author to watch as I'm sure she'll be a best seller in no time. Do yourself a favor and one-click Burning Bright today.

Honestly. The Great Procrastinator strikes again. Sheesh! It’s taken me forever and a day to write this review. I’m still not convinced it’s not going to be chock full of my trite wafflings, but I’m going to give it my best shot *cracks knuckles* I got this *gives you the side eye*

This book is more than a contemporary romance story. It’s a second-chance love story, family saga, mystery and romantic suspense all rolled into one thrilling package. Whew! *wipes brow* Caitlyn and Charlie’s story is one action-packed *smirks* tale!

Caitlyn Walker has a secret, or so she thinks. A faceless person is hellbent on making her pay for decisions she made with the very best of intentions. Scared and alone, Caitlyn flees to the one place she’s always felt safe; home – to her family in Starlight Falls.

Thrilled to be reunited with her family, and the love and shelter they provide, Caitlyn sets about trying to forge a new path. Coming face to face with her ex, Charlie, makes her realise her feelings for him have never waned, just lain dormant awaiting her return. Does Charlie feature in Caitlyn’s future?

Only, Caitlyn didn’t return alone. Suddenly, her loved ones have become fair game, and as the danger escalates she’ll have to rely not just on her family, but Charlie as well, to see her through.

Charlie Stewart can’t remember a day he’s not been in love with Caitlyn Walker. He just doesn’t know where it all went wrong. Determined to grab onto his second chance with both hands, he’ll do anything to make sure Caitlyn is safe *ovaries – KABOOM!*

“You are my world. My passion…”

Trust me, you’ll think you know what’s coming next *shakes head* – think again *snorts* It’s revelations galore, and sets up the scene nicely for Book 2, which is imminent *rubs hands*

Finally, you all know how I love a good pun – well wait for it…

I, for one, believe that this series will burn very bright indeed *smirks* Come on, I had to…

This is the first book I have ever read by Morgan Campbell. It won't be my last!! I am so looking forward to book 2 in this series.

The story follows Caitlyn and Charlie.

Caitlyn returns home after her husband dies. Whilst she loved him, It was nothing compared to the love for Charlie. Her 1st love.

After 6 years of waiting for her to return home this was his chance to make it all better. To make their dreams come true.

However, evil is lurking in the background, waiting for the right time to shatter the dreams that Charlie wanted for him and Caitlyn. Will Caitlyn find out who it is before it is too late and she looses someone else she loves or will the one person that has loved her forever be able to save the people that matter to her?

I am so looking forward to the next book.in the series.

When coming home isn’t the solution

There are many, many books about coming home and finding romance with a former amour. I wanted to like this book and there were definitely elements I did enjoy. Caitlyn’s past might make her open to threats, but her selflessness is noteworthy. That her good deeds are being rewarded by someone stalking her menacingly makes her a sympathetic heroine.

Charlie is a good guy who can’t understand why Caitlyn left but now that he knows she’s home, he is going to make her his. He has a few aces up his sleeve, but it’s when Caitlyn is threatened that he really steps up and shows how much he cares. “And baby, you are not casual. I’m going to worship you, love on you with every fiber of my being.” Most women would be moved when the man they love says this to them and Caitlyn is no exception.

The misconception that drove them apart is resolved quickly with a conversation that should have taken place years ago, but then Caitlyn wouldn’t have left, lived a selfless life, and been driven home. The reunion, with all the family’s support, works.

Two quick issues: the moment where the heroine is too stupid to live and the hero lets her do something really idiotic. Seriously? And the stalker’s threat to Charlie was just over-the-top and offensive. These things detract momentarily from the story, but it is still worth reading.

This is book one in the series and the summary of book 2 has me intrigued. I also really want to see Grant get his own story. Whether he winds up with the man he’s interested in from this book or not (fingers crossed that he does), I want his story.

For the record, Canadian bacon on pizza is fine, but pineapple should be banned. I like that (most) of the gay characters were not stereotyped, and this book makes a good argument for universal healthcare.

First I want to say I hope Grant and Van get their HEA after the hell they went through in their short time together. Now for this story we have POV for Charlie, Caitlyn, Greg and a few from Grant and Van. Caitlyn is being stalked by the man who she called friend and her dead husband’s lover (marriage for insurance ever in love since husband was gay). Greg, the lover, is been leaving notes before Caitlyn moved back home with her parents and brothers, but she don’t know who the stalker was until the guy shed blood of someone she loves.
Charlie has been in love with Caitlyn since he was a young teen and still can’t tear her from his heart so he’s learned to live with just knowing Caitlyn is out there. But 6 years after their breakup she’s back and with baggage of guilt, pain and a crazy after her. But Charlie don’t care, one look at her and he’s going to fight to get his girl back into his arms for good. Even if he’s got to go to war to make sure she’s safe.
Now is the Walkers are acquainted with Greg’s Uncle but they don’t know what he’s about, who is he and what does the guy have against the family especially the youngest sister that wasn’t in this story??? I guess that will be explained in the next story.

I love a good second-chance love story. This is the first time I've read a book by this author and I was impressed. I'm not sure that I'd continue reading the series, but I did enjoy reading this book.

The story is primarily about Caitlyn and Charlie. I found both characters to be well written, although perhaps a little too predictable. Caitlyn has a typical medical demeanour, very kind and caring, which is a central premise for the novel. I'm not sure Charlie was one of my favourite characters. He seemed very malleable, and while he made a good book boyfriend, I'm not sure that would translate to real life.

All in all though, the book was an engrossing read. It was easy to get into, kept me engaged and didn't bore me, so it ticks a lot of boxes. There was a mystery, although if I'm honest,. I did particularly like that the author had some characters break out of the regular book stereotypes, and didn't make it a big deal (and neither should it be anyway).

I received an advance ARC to review.

Burning Bright is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. It is quite simply riveting! A great plot, backed by a wonderfully diverse and genuine cast of characters, a really nasty bad guy, and a beautifully portrayed romance - what more could you want?

After several years of living away, Caitlyn, a young widow returns home, to try to start a new life. She almost immediately runs into Charlie, her first love and despite time, distance and misunderstandings, it is clear their attraction hasn't faded one jot. Even as their love is rekindled, however, black clouds are amassing as secrets from Caitlyn's past threaten everything, even their lives.

What I loved most about this book was the strength of feeling between Caitlyn and Charlie. Even with all the issues they had to overcome, this strength and the determination not to ruin the so rarely offered second chance at love, kept them together. The plot, with its underlying danger and crazed stalker (especially as we occasionally get to see things unfold from that person's POV), added a clever and intriguing twist.

I can't wait to read more from this author!!

Caitlyn was always the girl putting everyone before her own needs which must by why she chose the nursing profession. She once had the love of the boy next door but in a foolish act tosses it away. She instead meets the ever charming Ryan and learns all his dirty secrets and vows to keep them. One day her life turns upside down.

Charlie has always loved Caitlyn. He didn't care that she was his best friends sister and when she abruptly breaks up with him he knows he won't ever love another the way he loves her. He dives head first into his work and avoids her at all cost. When she returns home he sets out to make her his again. Sadly that means protecting her life on top of his own.

This was my first Morgan Campbell book and It won't be my last. This story was full of intrigue and mystery. I truly thought I had it figured out but I was so so wrong. I really did love Charlie he was such a real genuine guy with a giant heart. I want to hug him!! I hope to see more books in this series but I really need to know more about this mysterious guy.

This was my first book by Morgan Campbell and I can tell you that I jumped right to book two in the Starlight Falls series. Not a huge cliffhanger per say, but certainly leads you to wanting to read the next book to find out what is going to happen next.

I really liked Charlie and Caitlyn. It always seems to be the dumb misunderstandings that keep a couple apart when they should be together. Caitlyn does reveal to Charlie that she is a virgin after being married and gone for six years, and we realize that Charlie is not, but we don't hear anything about his past relationships, only that he was waiting for her... so that kind of left something missing for me.

I also liked the way the story towards the end brought in Caitlyn's family, more specifically her siblings a little more as set up for future books. The second book is about Melanie which we know very little about, but I am really looking forward to a possible Grant/Van book!

Burning Bright is the first book I’ve read for Morgan Campbell and from the very beginning, it has you guessing. Caitlyn has returned to her hometown in fear for her safety and hiding a bunch of lies. She reconnects with the only man she had truly loved and soon, has to fess up. Aside from the sweet romance in this story, Trying to figure out the puzzle was so much fun. Bring on the next book in this series! 5 Stars

Burning Bright (The Starlight Falls Series 1)
By Morgan Campbell

☆☆☆5 stars☆☆☆

Caitlyn is the epitome of a caring, loving young woman. She always puts others before herself, even if that means her own happiness suffers in the end. She has the opportunity to change a man's life, but at the cost of losing the love of her life.

Charlie always knew Caitlyn was the girl that got away, and when she suddenly shows back up in town, years later, his emotions are all over the place. Love, hate, and confusion as to why she up and left him and her family, swirls in his mind, and he wants answers.

Things start to go terribly wrong, and everyone bands together to protect Caitlyn from the mysterious force wreaking havoc on her and her loved ones. She soon realizes her love for Charlie has never wavered, and he would do anything to protect her, even if it means sacrificing himself.

Secrets are revealed, and if you think you know, you have no clue. A definite page turner, that keeps you guessing until the end. I loved this story so much, and talk about an awesome family Caitlyn has. I may have a slight crush on the hotness that is her brother Grant. Bring on book 2 please, because I'm beyond ready!

This book starts off with emotion, and never let's up. Caitlyn does an amazing for a friend, but keeps it a secret as to why she really did it. She ends up a widow, with someone taunting her. She finally decides it's time to go back home. Only to have to finally face the one man that stole her heart and broke it, Charlie. The taunting follows her, and now she's torn as to finally come forward and tell the truth. This book was full of suspense. It has your mind working, trying to figure out who it is, all while it takes you on an emotional ride about true love. I can't wait to see what comes next.
