If you're looking for a fast engaging read with a few secrets and twists, this might be the book for you. You don't get fully fleshed out characters (which I know I'm always complaining about). But, you do get a fast paced read. Rae is a therapist. She is celibate due to an unhealthy relationship with sex (she was assaulted by her stepfather as a teen) much to the chagrin of her boyfriend Keith. Keith's character would be a ton more understanding if Rae just told him what was going on. Keith loves Rae and after a year probably deserves some sort of explanation. No matter how small. He wishes that she would open up to him. Keith also has a friend/receptionist named Vicki that oversteps boundaries everyday. Enter Rae's new client/patient named King. King was stabbed by his girlfriend when she caught him cheating. He then killed her in self defense. Or did he? Rae is attracted to him and while I thought there were times she should wake up? I went with it. This was my first Toni Larue book. It won't be my last.
Looks can be deceiving. The Jae Michaels that most people know and love specializes in helping trauma patients find their way back to a life with a sense of normalcy. From the outside looking in, Jae has it going on. She’s beautiful, confident, and has a man who goes above and beyond to keep her happy. But who is the real Jae Michaels? The real Jael Michaels is a mysterious woman harboring a closet full of deep dark secrets.
This was my first read by Toni Larue and I absolutely loved her pen flow. Guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, “Immoral” is a fast-paced story layered with mystery, betrayal, and unpredictable shock twists. Every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, the author dropped another bomb! If you’re looking for a page-turner, take my word. 1-Click NOW and read what all of my hype is about.
Sex lies and videotapes are the ultimate demise of Jae.
She’s a talented psychologist with a bright future if only she could escape her troubled past. Life is going well for the most part until Jae meets King Daniels.
King is gorgeous and charming but he’s her client who was accused of stabbing his girlfriend in mistress after getting caught in the act. This paired with some alarming news from her past sends Jae on a downward spiral and she soon finds herself risking it all.
Keith is certain that Jae is the love of her life but his background as a police officer and private investigator tells him that she’s hiding something. After some digging he soon uncovers all of her nasty little secrets, but will this be the end of them?
Immoral is a thrilling page-turner with an unexpected twist that I loved. I’m a huge fan of Toni Larue and her thrillers never miss.
“It’s amazing how our entire identity is intertwined into other people.”
This was so predictably satisfying. -age gap (30fmc/24mmc) -love triangle -forced proximity -heavy TWs centering SA, pedophilia, addiction -psychiatrist FMC -secrets x revenge -fast paced thrill -located in Las, Vegas -200 pages
The FMC Jae, is so multilayered. Her storyline will have you sitting with mixed feelings about her journey. Although it was predictable, it was an enjoyable ride.
I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re sensitive to any of the trigger warnings or if you are turned off by continuous grammatical, spelling errors. But, if you are looking for a romantic thriller that’ll have you in the edge of your seat then this is the book for you.
This was a really great read from start to finish; I could not put this book down. Jae really had personal trauma from her past that she needed to work on. It always amazes me how someone takes on the roll of becoming a therapist, when they themselves have their own personal baggage they need to work out, but that just goes to show you that nothing is more important than taking care of you first. No one can be good around you when you’re not good to yourself first. Please read this book; you will not be disappointed!!!
The doctor, Jae, needed a doctor. Seriously! She had so many demons from her past chasing her psyche yet she was analyzing others. She put on a front for the world but was drowning in debt. All of her bad choices resulted from a failure to address her issues. Keith was really in love to be strung along so long and I couldn't imagine him taking her back. Not that she didn't deserve love but she needed to learn how to give and receive it. This was not one of my favorites by this author. I felt the twists were forced and way too creepy.
I just finished this novel, it was so mind boggling. I never expected the ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I was blown away with how situations can haunt and keep a person a prisoner in their own life. We all have skeletons of some sort in our closets, it's time to stop holding ourselves hostage and let go and let God so that we can breathe again. Kudos to Me LaRue for an awesome page turning novel!
Jae is a self-sufficient woman determined to move on from not only the tragedy of her past but her own mistakes as well. Keith, the man who loves her and waits for her to love him in return. King is the man claiming to be haunted by his past but is it his past actions that haunted him or someone else's. Immoral by Toni Larue is a sexy tale of all the things that can go wrong when secrets are the foundation of your life.
This book was awesome. It was gripping and full of twists. This book kept me on the edge of my seat anticipating more. I loved this story as it has relatable circumstances. Many couples have secrets that they would rather take to the grave than to share them with their love. The author painted a vivid picture of the story and characters through her writing. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I'm not sure what genre this book is supposed to fall into. It wasn't giving me thriller, but whatever it was, the story was good, messy, and chaotic! I wasn't mad. While I would have preferred more to the ending, it definitely had some twists that I was not expecting, much like any book from Toni Larue. Lemme go see what else she got hiding in her disturbed little catalog here that I've missed.
The problem for me wasn’t that she kept the secret, it was the lie that came after it, then became very hypocritical about the situation, mad saying you don’t trust me. Ummm no you lied and now you mad at me. If your man is a PI how you not going to think at some point he is going to find out anything you are keeping from him. I felt bad for Keith.
Another Toni Larue book that I stayed up and read in one sitting! Her books keep your attention and keep you guessing. Talk about holding a grudge! Pain and grief will make you do crazy things.
