Very factual, and encompasses the history of Samoa very well, starting with times just before their contact with haoles. I found descriptions of tribal traditions to be fascinating and the book to be very well presented. I particularly admired the statement of the Samoan governor in the front because he mentioned the new opportunities for todays Samoan people because of American Samoa and I know people that are directly affected as he said, by getting a good education and having lots of opportunities that they otherwise would not have had.
It was fascinating but very informational and is best read in small doses.
