The safest marriage of convenience is to buy the bride who definitely won’t fall in love with you…
Navy SEAL Will Parry needs to get married to satisfy a condition of his late grandmother's estate — and inherit a valuable chunk of land on the Caribbean island of Miralinda. His lawyer thinks they should fight the bogus clause, but Will has a better plan.
Daphne Strike has big dreams and no money. So when her nemesis suggests a mutually beneficial plan — a quickie wedding in exchange for a million bucks — she's tempted.
Sure, it means they need to set aside their differences and play at actually liking each other. But if they can trust each other enough to pull this off, they'll both get everything they've ever wanted. No strings attached.
Book Three in the HOT CARIBBEAN NIGHTS series! Book 1: RUINED BY THE SEAL (Mick and Cara) Book 2: BOUND BY THE SEAL (Brayden and Arielle)
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Zoe York is a busy working mom of two young boys, wife to a very understanding soldier, and creator of modern, sexy, small town contemporary romances.
She lives in London, Ontario and is currently chugging Americanos, wiping sticky fingers, and dreaming of heroes in and out of uniform.
This is the third Hot Caribbean Nights novel in the series, but the first I've read. I'm disappointed. It isn't that hot, and a good chunk of the book doesn't even take place in the Caribbean. Instead, ex-Navy SEAL Will and artisan soap-maker Daphne spend at least half of the book going to/staying in/leaving Las Vegas, trying to find out why her first marriage was never annulled. Which wouldn't be bad, except their "relationship" didn't seem realistic at all. I couldn't buy them as a couple in love. And the sex scenes weren't even that hot. Overall, an interesting idea with poor execution.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is quite light-hearted, and a fun read for a lazy day. Will is a delightful person, and once he committed to Daphne that was it for him. Daphne is a very independent, determined person, working hard to achieve the life she wants for herself, she was hard for Will to win over. He needs a wife to gain his inheritance, and he desperately needs that inheritance to help set up a business for his fellow SEALs, who need employment after leaving the service. It would be a marriage of convenience, he would provide Daphne with $1 million, which would help her realise her dreams, and they would divorce after a year. And yet ... it soon becomes more than a business agreement, especially for Will.
Daphne and Will have not gotten along since their first meeting. Will can't quite figure out why Daphne brings out the worst in him. Daphne makes a snap judgment about Will and is too stubborn to admit that she was wrong. When Will gives her the proposal to make her career dreams come true, Daphne takes it but then acts like she is better than him. Her insecurities were easy to spot and Will didn't exploit them against her. Will tried to do the right thing whenever it was within his power to do so. Daphne also had a surprise in store when more digging found a very unsettling fact remained for her. I thought the book was well told and flowed well. I was hoping for more of a look at them after everything resolved itself.
This one started out slow for me. Granted...the enemies-to-lovers and fake marriage tropes are not ones I generally enjoy. It took me a whole week to finish this novella - which is never a good sign.
But somewhere about halfway through things started to pick up and the story became more about the outside influences on their relationship and less about them getting in their own way of happiness. I finished reading with a favorable opinion of this novella.
And with the completion of this story, I have officially read everything written by Zoe York (that's still in print anyway)! That's 45 books. 😲
Loved Zoe York's latest installment of the 'Assignment: Caribbean Nights' series. I read this in installments about a week ago and purchased and re-read the final version.
Zoe is one of my favorite authors and I purchase all of her new releases. She has a way of making her characters come alive, and places them in situations I find to be very believable. I also enjoy reading stories in series. Mind you, these are all stand-alone tales, but you've been introduced to each story's major players in other books.
OMG!! I love that Will finally gets his story! He is the money behind the business in Miralinda and thinks it's great his friends have found their soulmates, but that's just not him. He love being the bad boy, until Daphne, She doesn't fall for his charm and loves call him names to his face! IT's all fun and games until he finds out he won't inherit the estate unless he is married! Zoe's tale of tow strong willed, extremely passionate people is a witty, snarky, drama filled and super passionate love story. Once I started it I couldn't stop reading it!! IT's sooo good, just get it now!
A great book for a quick read. Perfect holiday read, whether it's summer or winter.
This is a story of a Marriage of Convenience which takes a turn and ends up being a love story. Daphne is beautiful larger than life with bigger dreams and an empty back account. Bring in Will who is mega rich, stuck in between a rock and a hard place, brooding tall gorgeous and sexy.
They hate each other's guts and bring out the worst in each other, but there lies hidden their love for each other. A HEA ending.
Will and Daphne are hotter than fire together but they foolishly try to keep their feelings out of the marriage of convenience they just entered. Good luck with that in the hot Caribbean, on a boat that keeps you about two inches from each other at all times. Lol
Will really was such a sweetheart. A stand up guy. I loved the way he handled Daphne. And the lovin was soooo good.
Daphne was enjoyable from the beginning. She was sexy, sassy and just what will needed. Little did she know Will was what she needed too.
Oh these two were fabulous! I wasn’t sure about it, the first impression they made on each other also left one on me, but seeing them again, I knew right away they were going to be perfect. They sparked off each other wonderfully, and they were honest and teasing at the same time, and each setback was simply met with more determination. They had quite the path to travel to get to their HEA and they had me invested in their story until they got there <3
4 1/2 stars for a lovely enemies to friends to lovers book. This book made me laugh, made me smile, and gave me warm and fuzzy feelings. It checked off a lot of boxes for me. And the sexy SEAL was just a cherry on top. I enjoyed the characters, the banter, and the sexy times. Plus, the fact that an element was thrown in that I did not see coming. Yep, I would recommend it.
A quick read but with great characters you love. Will has to deal with his grandmother's will in order to get the property left to him free and clear. Enter Daphne who hasn't got along with Will from the start. Then a glitch comes into play to keep the story line going. Well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start.
I thought that I had read all of this series, but I missed this one. I am glad I finally realized that because this is my favorite one. I loved the chemistry between Will and Daphne. I also loved the unusual twists to this trope. I ended up reading it in one day because I was so engrossed in the story and the emotion of it.
This is a fun read. On the surface Will and Daphne are total opposites, but as the saying goes opposites attract. They are a really sweet couple and surprise all their friends. They have a few issues to overcome but as they get to know each other better they realise they can trust their partner.
I wouldn't say Daphne was bought, enticed maybe, but Daphne won't be bought. Will is a billionaire SEAL, who wouldn't be infatuated with him? Daphne. This story is funny, swoon worthy, and sexy sweet.
Will is such a patient, certain man that he is going to marry and keep Daphne. Daphne is such a strong heroine. Watching these two realize their true feelings for one another and then fight to keep that chance at their HEA was so fun to read.
I really enjoyed the love/dislike relationship between these two. I must admit their story went a bit differently than I was expecting. I never tire of the super manly Navy SEAL guys going weak for their love interests. Bring me more!!
I really liked the characters and storyline in this book. Will and Daphne start out by pretending to be love only to have a marriage of convenience. I would recommend this book to military romance readers.
I loved this book. It was a serial read through the authors newsletter I waited till she released the last chapter to start reading it. I got hooked and could not put it down.
I loved Will and Daphne. Will had a problem to solve and came up with an unusual solution: Daphne. And she was fantastic. A little grouchy and feisty as ever, Daphne was the perfect heroine to counter Will's character. Like any good couple there was an epic misunderstanding or two - best laid plans and all. Once they worked it out they were truly magic. Loved them both!
