Silent Sun by Ayushman Jamwal is a collection of 20 meaningful poems reflecting various emotions : Neon Chaos , Silent Sun , Ram's Lament are some unique pieces. Each poem is portrayed in a picture along with which adds an another feather to it's beauty. Very natural and organic poetry it's for me it's very deep and heavy. Vocabulary is very much poetic and beautiful.

Find your fire between the lines this is a line from the blurb and yes there's a very nature poetic feel between each line.

Rhythms are there. Word selection , use of emotions and language is very much impressive. Lucid and flowing language. Every poem reflect a natural poetic feel of contemporary poetry nothing is crafted.

I enjoyed every poem equally but CONQUEROR IN A PRETTY DRESS is my favourite in this book.

Poetry has the strength to empower simple words with deeper feelings. It has something for everyone and as many time you read it, it’s always fresh and each time you discover new meaning. Likewise, can be described, the collection of poems under the title Silent Sun by Ayushman Jamwal. In the span of twenty poems, he has sung about many little extraordinary things. For example in the very first poem titled Tears Of The Wandering Mystic, the poet writes about the emptiness he feels after his doting wife dies, neither the devotion of his children nor her memories could ease the pain and suffering of this man. Phrases like “You courted death when surrounded by joy” gives you a hint of the stature of imagination the poet possesses. However, the favourite one is The Warrior’s Wife, an amazing poem about post-traumatic stress disorder. How the warrior finds solace only in the loving embrace of his wife. The poet has dedicated two poems, one to the Kashmiri pundits and the other to the patriots fighting in Kashmir.
One reads poems to fill the vacuum in one's heart and settle the anxiety of loneliness. Silent Sun impresses the reader with its eloquence and mesmerizing choice of words. The calmness it provides when your anxious thoughts make your vision hazy. Reading the poems is truly like an entry into a different world. The smooth flow of words makes it difficult for the reader to stop. You read and revisit again and again looking for that comfort. Discover these poems if you feel a good story should never end.

Silent Sun written by Ayushman Jamwal is an anthology of such intense poems all of which are hypnotic in quality. They cast a magical spell upon the reader and urge him to read on.The poet has dwelt upon almost all the spheres of human life.On the one hand there are poems about unconditional love, like `The Warrior’s Wife’ while on the other hand are poems about women fighting against injustice, like` Am I not God’s child’.The assortment is an excellent accomplishment because it deals with even a sensitive topic like Kashmir. All the poems have an underlying deeper philosophical meaning. The style is extremely impressive and lucid and the choice of words continue to haunt the mind long after one is finished reading the poems.`Rama’s lament’ deals with human emotions and depicts Lord Rama in an absolutely unique way.He who has always been regarded as infallible ,laments on his fate, pining for his beloved wife Sita.It is commendable how the poet takes up such a perspective. The poems comprise unquenchable thirst of human beings ,the surrender to emotions, the struggle for survival, tender love, optimism and much more, you just have to “find your fire between the lines”.

It was a pleasure to read Ayushman's second poetry collection "Silent Sun".
I've read his first poetry collection "Chameleon Lights". While the first collection exhibited rawness, of which I had enjoyed every bit; the second collection sees the poet become more matured.
"Silent Sun" is a collection of 20 poems and he has written on various themes such as love, Kashmir, freezing emotions, artists, Rama etc. It was quite an interesting read.
Ayushman typically rhymes his poems which is mostly missing in contemporary poetry. The best part is the rhyming comes very naturally to him - the flow of the poems makes it a very absorbing read. Imagery is a tool that the poet has used very beautifully. Kudos to the poet!

Keep writing Ayushman Singh Jamwal!

‘Silent Sun’ by Ayushman Jamwal is reflection of human inner dynamics. I am too mortal to add anything over Dr. Lalit Mangotra’s foreword. His words are perfectly apt to describe the author’s writings. But as part of my responsibility I had to do it.

Sun supports life by being dynamic and it is surely not silent. Similarly human mind is not silent. Just focus on few seconds and you will hear all noises; you will experience all types of emotions. Even life is turbulent like waves of ocean sometimes high, sometimes low. So how come ‘Silent Sun’ comes into picture? This is very important to understand how author reaches this realization. This is something I will cover after generic review.

For me all poems are great. Selection of words has quality and why should not they be, considering the credentials of the author. Author has used word like ‘Tethered’, ‘Spectre’, ‘Oblivion’ a lot in poems. It seems author is bounded to entities which haunts him. The frequent use of words like ‘Eternity’ and ‘Soul’ shows author’s deep inclination to find ‘Real Truth’. He is not going to give up and determined to find the answers. He asks for grace, kindness and knows that faith and love are his armours to overcome his fears. Poems also present his patriotic and empathetic side. To feel for women and asking tough questions to society and even Gods is really fascinating. I found the cover of the book inspirational, so inspirational that even my 10 year daughter said following:

“Silent Sun Came To Me, Asking Me to Eat It. I Said, “You Are Hot, How Can I Eat You? You Just Remain Up There to Spread The Light.” And He Said, “I Am Bored Spreading Light, I Want You to be My Light.”

To me poems are not just random reflection of human thoughts but I managed to discover the continuity by Grace of “The One – The Formless”. And that is the integral part of Journey of Consciousness, which I plan to cover next. Kudos to Author! He has unveiled a journey via his words. He has the Grace which he has been seeking in many poems. Here is the flow of poems, A Continuity (The Caps and Bold Words above paragraph are the crux of each poem. To understand the flow, grab the book):

“Soul’s self realization journey begins with PAIN and no pain is bigger than loss of dear one’s. Individual finds no solace in addiction and family which is there to support him. He takes refuge in aloofness THINKING of dear one; as no one could answer the questions as the CIVILIZATION is SAVAGE to solace him. Even NATURE could not console him. So he begins the introspection. He goes so deep in his consciousness that he begins to ask ‘AM I NOT CHILD of GOD’? And many such questions begin to appear. He feels like BURNING. He wants ‘RAIN’ to extinguish that fire. He asks GOT TO BE KIND with him so that he can visit all the REALMS to find the answers he has been seeking. His depth invokes angelic beings they visit him but since he is not aware of them and watching them for the first he does not know how to react. The best he can do is to STARE BACK. He sees the DUALITY as he could still feel the pain. He discovers himself partially and being a painful he sees himself as BROKEN ANGEL. So much is happening inside him that he wants to express. Fortunate are those who grab pen or paint brush or music to describe it but since the experience is incomplete they consider themselves as LOST ARTIST, asking others to help them FIND LIGHT. Artificiality seems CHAOTIC to them as they want the real light. The confusion inside is manipulated by Latent Ego which tell them you are CONQUEROR and found all the answers. But somewhere he knows that it is not correct and he gathers his resources in form of LOVE and FAITH to rage a war considering himself as WARRIOR. But DEMONS inside human consciousness are too strong to be fought; he bleeds and sees his beautiful soul being hurt in such wars. And he calls it as ‘Tragic Beauty’. And he realizes he is not yet source of light, he is not Sun but mere mortal ‘THE SILENT SUN’, the title of book. He further realizes that he is not alone to feel same even the INCARNATIONS of God, manifestation in human forms, had to face such journey, though ‘They’ were aware of same. This changes his world too much that he remains unperturbed and FEELS NOTHING. The world seems to be mere image which he has been looking through GLASS WALL. He begins to believe he need to COURT LOVE because to fall in love with Divinity was always his destiny. He has to ensure that his ego FADES AWAY.”

At this very moment I wanted the book to end at high note but I encountered the words of CURSED ROCKSTAR. All this introspection, so much depth in words and so much ability to bring it out why you consider yourself as Cursed One? I want to see higher notes in the next book hence I would give it 4.5 Stars. 0.5 Stars deducted to inspire the author to make us aware of how it feels to be in bliss. Yes you have highlighted the pain and even travelled through it but what after pain? I wish more power to his words, to his thoughts, to his journey of writing and expression… God Bless!!!

"Defiant, even on the edge of oblivion,
I am the Silent Sun."

Composed with a powerful imagery to celebrate the silent sun within us, "Silent Sun" by Ayushman Jamwal invites its readers to find their fire between the lines.

The collection of 20 poems brings to its readers poetry that are born from the endless search for meaning, purpose and fulfilment through the meagre human instinct, fighting for communion and love against lonely existence, and marvelling at what an afterlife has to offer.

The book begins with a beautiful quote by Chris Cornell and a wonderful foreword by the Sahitya Academy award winning writer and poet, Dr. Lalit Mangotra.

Each poem has a enticing picture pertaining to it that speaks of its theme and matches with the word-picture painted with artistic strokes. Although the pictures are in black and white, their clarity is beyond perfection.

The poem "Am I Not God's Child?" speaks for all the women who cut their wings, leave their aspirations behind and curb all their wishes when they enter into the "holy" ties of matrimony.

The collection flawlessly brings out the virtues and flaws that makes one human. On one hand it highlights courage and intense energy, while on the other, it also throws light on the imperfection and frustration that the human race begets. It brings forth the fear of death that lies within the man who struggles to forget the inevitable truth while celebrating the power of human existence.

The poet has done an outstanding work with his poem "Rama's Lament" that meticulously brings out the pain of Lord Rama who misses his wife, Sita. Rama considers Sita to be his strength and believes that he is Godly only with her by his side, as a King is always incomplete without his Queen. He laments on his helplessness, brooding how his duty became greater than his heart's desires. He mocks how even death cannot reunite him with his Sita for the greatest irony is that his divinity is his curse. He finally sighs at the epic sarcasm of how even a God hangs his head in shame.

All the poems that leave their ever-lasting trace into the minds of the readers are long enough to satiate the heart as well as make the soul yearn for more.

The poems have unique set of rhymes schemes, sometimes even blending the free verse with the formal verse, without losing on the rhythms.

The poem "We Remember, Our Nation Forgets" pays homage to the Kashmiri Pandits who became refugees in their own country and saw men turning to demons, heard the wails of women, smelt the smoke from burnt houses, tasted injustice and felt the pangs of inhumanity.

The search of a tireless mind that refuses to rest without filling the void within resonates all through the book. The unending quest of an ideal being renders one an utter loner and hence the quiescent longing of the seeker thus remains unfulfilled.

The metaphorical poem "The Glass Wall" vivifies how an invisible glass wall of fear always keeps us entrapped in it, forcing us to stay away from our dreams. The glass wall that symbolises the fear of uncertainty within us prevents us from spreading our wings to fly. Despite thousands of inspiration, we are still afraid of walking away from the glass wall.

The unique title refers to the silent sun that every individual bores within themselves. Just like the Sun, we do beautiful and unfortunate things in that constant struggle to be a little more than nothing. This virtue of the silent sun that lies within everyone unites the creator, the preserver, the destroyer, the tormented, the hero, the enlightened, the faithful and the wanderer into an unbreakable bond.

The enchanting cover too compliments the title highlighting the picture of a large sun that shines upon the trees, animals and humans who walk on this earth forging and re-forging themselves.

A tribute to the human spirit "Silent Sun" by Ayushman Jamwal compels the readers to lose themselves in the countless voiceless tales beckoned to the universe and perceive life from a different perspective.

"A will no less or greater than human,
I am the Silent Sun."

“I was only Godly with her by my side,
I was only a king when I felt her strength nearby,
I was only a man when her hand was in mine,
Only for her did I make the heavens kneel,

Oh, how I miss my beloved queen” - A Stanza (Rama’s Lament) .

Outlook:
. “Silent Sun” is a collection of 20 hopeful poems which are emerged from the predominant emotions of a man. The first one is an endless search for something that he can’t attain so easily. While, the second one is the voidness within, which a man would carry throughout his life. The imagination of the poet is just flawless. The book expresses the loneliness, pain, guilt, hurt and tragedy a human face throughout his journey. In simple, it discusses the virtue and flaws that make Homo sapien human. 🥳🥳 .

The cover and the title do the book intrigued me. The cover of the book is beautiful. The title of the book has been explained in the synopsis perfectly. The book contains 20 pieces of poetry with varying topics as their base. Topics ranging from the nation to the rain, a glass wall to love and it’s shenanigans to the injustice are present. The title of each poem is given perfectly and is not alike. Certain lines in the poems are of rhyming variety. The first and the second piece contains stanzas with five lines each which takes away the charm of reading the poem because it’s of the pattern aa b cc. The rhyming words fit in the poem and it’s meaning perfectly. The words used in the poetry are up to the mark of the poems; they aren’t very easy or hard to understand. There are certain poems in which there is a mention of a mysterious character ‘she’ which makes me want to know more and more about her. Each poem has 5-6 stanzas on an average and each stanza has five lines.

Some poems teared me up because I could feel the yearning in them. Our Nation Forgets is a very touching poem. Each poem has a picture on the adjoining page in black and white. If the pictures were in colour it would’ve been better.

The piece I loved the most are :
Tears Of The Wandering Mystic
Rain
My Broken Angel
Neon Chaos
We remember, Our Nation Forgets
Nothing
Glass wall
May The Valley Hear Me Roar

All pieces have something or the other to offer to the reader. Overall, a short and touching poetry book that I would recommend to the poetry lovers.

Ayushman Jamwal's anthology of poems, Silent Sun, published by BecomeShakespeare.com is a very short read. However, the poems are heavy, resounding and stay with you for long after you have done reading it. The book consists of 20 poems, each tackling a different issue and each poem evoking a different emotion in us, readers. Every word is chosen to render perfection to the sentence. The placement of the words enhances the reading experience twofold. The language is succinct and lucid. Some poems are penned in spoken word style. And it feels very natural when we read.
