The Lord promised His missionaries, “I have given my heavenly hosts and mine angels charge concerning you. . . . And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.” —D&C 84:42, 88 One wonders whether these lofty promises in the Doctrine and Covenants are merely wishful thinking or are transcendent realities. In these true stories of modern-day miracles, one former Latter-day Saint mission president shares eyewitness accounts from his mission in Brazil that manifest the literal fulfillment and verity of those promises. From matchless divine power to astonishing angelic ministrations, the message of each faith-awakening experience is the God is a God of miracles and is actively involved in the details of our lives. Whether you are a future, current, or former missionary, at home or abroad, Mine Angels Round About You will show evidence of the love that our Heavenly Father holds for His latter-day children.
Spent all afternoon reading it until I was finished and what great reminders in this book to start a new year. Tears would come at the most unexpected moments cause the experiences shared were so simple and raw, yet powerful. “There is no limit to what can be accomplished by faith!”
A Book That Just May Bring You To Gods' People and Truth
What a wonderful compilation of Divine miraculous manifestations on behalf of the Latter Day Saints missionaries! The Author made sure that the missionaries experiences they wrote about were factual, reliable and firmly attested to, interviewing individuals who were also present. I'm not a "Mormon", but I believe that God directed me to this book which opened my eyes to the marvelous spirit led direction that God bestows on them. This book forced me, a sincere Christian searching and praying for Gods' truth and people, to seriously investigate the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What o found is nothing short of a miracle! I've read this book twice and after 5 months of learning and study with missionaries I am now.ready to be baptized in this wonderful Church. If you are a Saint, this book will lift your faith up even higher. If you are not a Latter Day Saint please read each experience carefully and humbly. Ask yourself honestly if such things could happen by coincidence or happenstance. Or if these events were truly the power of our God, the God of the Holy Bible. Let this book be a foundation of further investigation in the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In the na!e of Jesus Christ I write this, Amen.
This is a collection of 100 letters my dad received from missionaries when he was a Mission President in Brazil. (He received over 25,000 of those weekly letters from missionaries during his 3 years there, so he boiled it WAY down for this compilation!) Every letter in this book tells of miracles, and to read them in rapid succession is very powerful. I know the writers of most of these letters, and they all stand by their accounts and gave permission for them to be published. It's always nice to read primary sources, and to have their experiences verified by their companions or other eye-witnesses. This book is inspiring and thought-provoking, and I think it would be a treasure for anyone of any faith.
Religious books that inspire always get a 5 star rating for me. I love stories that promote faith and show that with God nothing is impossible. As far as readability this book doesn't flow as well as it could of. But the idea of telling miraculous stories is worthy of a look. I also loved that these stories are told from a missionary viewpoint. Many are quoted from letters and emails to their mission president. I wish I had a better memory and could share these stories with my family. I guess I will just have to buy the book.
One of the most uplifting books I've read in a while
I really enjoyed this book and the good, positive spirit it brought as I read it. Not to sound too preachy but it is much easier to find materials that demean or question faith and spiritual optimism. Having served a mission myself, I can say that they are difficult but worth it, and this book helped remind me of that. I think we need many more books like this!
My mother's cousin wrote this book. He was an econ professor at Wharton University and then served as a mission president. This is a compilation of inspiring and miraculous stories from the letters his missionaries sent him. I found the writing to be more down to earth and unassuming then I expected which I really liked. Great read.
I loved this book! I love that it exists. I want to read more like it. Having a child out on a mission right now, I am extra moved by the times the Lord protected His missionaries and worked miracles through them. But you don't need to have missionaries in your life to gain from reading it. I would give it an A+ if the font were a little bigger, but it's tiny so let's go with an A.
The loved the personal accounts of missionaries as they were directed by the spirit to help move the gathering of Israel forward on both sides of the veil.
Libby. This was a book written by a Mission President of sone of the events of feeling the Spirit and their events of his mission. Wonderful book and Reminder of our Saviors Love For Each of us.
