With these hands, I will hold you. With this heart, I will love you. With my life, I will protect you.
Tank has spent his life protecting people. He works for one of the most successful security companies in the world, makes more money than most people see in a lifetime, and has a past that no one can ever know about.
Hayley Elliott will do anything to keep her mom safe. Her sister has found a cure for Alzheimer's and their mom is living proof that the supplement works. Hiding from the people looking for the supplement's formula is impossible. When the threat to their lives becomes deadly, she has no option but to trust a man who's living with a secret more dangerous than her own.
With more at stake than their own lives, Tank and Hayley have to decide what is more important--protecting the past or risking everything for love.
'Safe Haven' is the first book in The Protectors series and can easily be read as a standalone. Each of Leeanna's series are linked so you can find out what happens to your favorite characters.
Leeanna Morgan is a USA Today bestselling author. She lives in New Zealand surrounded by green hills on one side and the ocean on the other. She enjoys going for long walks, especially if she can convince her husband and two children to go with her!
Leeanna writes contemporary romances set in Montana. Her books contain all of the things that are important to her; good friends, family, a strong sense of community, and a happy ending.
This is really a review of the The Protectors/Billionaires series so far (with the exception of Sealed With a Kiss-which was the most complete book of the lot). I love the characters. The problem is that there are too many things that are unrealistic about their relationships i.e. no sex when they go to Tank's wilderness retreat towards the end of Safe Haven. It might make sense if the book were set in a different time period, but it's contemporary. Same with Sophie and Ryan's book--and then Sophie is living in an apartment in town instead of at Ryan's house? Even though she had been living there before? And when Kelly needs to stay with Tanner, her brother has to move in too? All of these things are wildly unlikely and throw me out of the story. I like the community of characters Leeanna Morgan has created, I like the depictions of Bozeman, I like much of the plot, I hate the repetition of basic details which seems endemic to the romance genre, and there are way too many references to coffee, hot chocolate and cookies--and there's just something missing that keeps me from believing the happily ever afters.
Hayley Elliott's mother, Alice, has Alzheimer's dementia and life would be looking grim but for her eminently special sister, Sophie.
On her own, and in secret, Sophie has been developing a supplement for the treatment of Alzheimer's and she and Hayley have been treating Alice with it and recording the extremely promising results.
Trouble raises it's ugly head in the form of competition while Sophie tries to patent her formula. They don't know it but their lives are never going to be the same again.
“People can surprise you, but they can’t do that if you don’t let them close." Says the man that walks into their lives to protect them and, ultimately, to forever bond the family together.
Safe Haven is a profoundly touching story about fear, how it inhibits us from living fulfilling lives. It's about love and the power of forgiveness and healing.
Don't make the mistake of assuming Safe Haven is just a little love story. Treat yourself to a tale of the resiliency of human kindness, compassion and unconditional love.
This was my first book by author Leeanna Morgan, but it won't be my last! Get characters are compelling, her writing style is fun, but the overall plot of this one was lacking a few things...the whole being followed, chased, reason for the protection was convoluted at best. The danger just disappeared with no real resolution or idea who was after them in the first place. Then we have the danger of Tank's brother pop up in the second half of the story...also with no real resolution (in this reader's mind).
The idea of the book was good, but the execution just needs some fine tuning. The author had good character building and left the reader with a clear picture in their minds of the characters, but this reader wanted just a bit more.
An overall good read, but with a few tweaks could be a great read! I will give this author another whirl later on.
Tank met Hayley and her mother Alice when rescuing them and bringing them to Montana to be with Sophie. Along the way trouble followed both in the form of attempted kidnapping and in the form of sparks between Tank and Hayley. Can Tank get them to safety in time and can Hayley actually help him in the process? Great writing with twists and turns to keep the pages turning.
Safe Haven is a fast-paced, romantic suspense that drew me in from the first chapter. Tank, a man with a dangerous past, has spent his life protecting others, while Hayley is fighting just as fiercely to keep her mother safe after a breakthrough Alzheimer’s treatment puts their family in danger. When their lives collide, they’re forced to trust each other in ways neither expected.
I loved the tension between Tank and Hayley—their chemistry feels natural, and their determination to protect the people they love makes them a perfect match. Leeanna Morgan keeps the stakes high, blending action, emotion, and romance in a way that’s easy to get swept up in.
As the first book in The Protectors series, it stands well on its own, but it also hints at a wider world I’m excited to explore. A quick, engaging read that balances heart and suspense beautifully.
Let me begin by saying that I'm not a big fan of the romance genre although I have read a few, but not in recent years. I'm a confirmed believer in the blood and guts thriller, mystery, and horror genres. I read Safe Haven on a whim because the title and subtitle caught my eye and I am genuinely glad that I did. It was described as being a romance but it's so much more than just a romance. It's more of a cross-genre book combing the romance genre with the mystery and thriller genres. Leanna Morgan has changed the way I look at the romance genre and I look forward to reading more of her work. In fact I have already downloaded more of her books to my Kindle Cloud Reader. If you love a thrilling ride with a truly happy ending you need to read Safe Haven, the first book in the Protector Series.
I gave this book to 21% and just did not connect with the characters. The writing seemed a bit too clinical and I did not feel a connection to the characters at all, even when they were in dire circumstances and being chased by the bad guys. I did not feel it was suspenseful enough even though it was branded as a romantic suspense. It read more like a contemporary romance to me. One thing that I did find interesting and poignant was the treatment of Alzheimer's and how difficult it was for both the carers and the one suffering from the disease alike. I thought the way the disease was highlighted and treated was very well done. It did make me wonder if Ms Morgan had first hand experience with people who had either dementia or Alzheimer's.
This can’t decide if it’s suspense, or romance, or a thriller but somehow manages to be none of them. There are a couple of places where the story should have ended… but it didn’t. People are missing… drama! BUT half a chapter later they’re okay and it’s all dealt with off page. But the story is FULL of empty dialogue or scenes that exist only to introduce a new character or plot line for the inevitable series.
Leanna Morgan is One of my go-to guilty pleasure authors. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though Haley was an idiot who got on my nerves a lot of the time. I understand that nobody likes having to stay cooped up all the time, and nobody likes being told what to do. But there were parts in the book where I was like, "Seriously, haley, Will you stop being such a stubborn, argumentive, winy douche, and let Tank do his job!" It was negligent on Tank's part to let Haley get her way, to keep the peace. I mean, really dude, you're her bodyguard and you guys are running for your lives. This is not the time to lose track of your common sense, just because she's cute and blonde and you're attracted to her. The part where Tank let Haley talk him into taking her to the mall, and then Haley nearly gets abducted, Tank takes a beating from her would-be abductors, all while Haley's Poor confused mother is in the middle of all this, I was like, "Oh, my God, you people are such dumb-asses!" Criticisms aside, I was still into this book. It was entertaining and suspenseful, and I loved the overseas drama subplot. It added some extra thrills and suspense. Tank's Secret was a heart wrencher. And when haley wasn't annoying, she and Tank made a cute, sweet couple who had One of those uplifting love stories that would put any romance reader in a good mood. I was also glad that Haley's mom was making such a progressive recovery.
Another good story from Ms Morgan. It's an easy read, contemporary romance with a litle bit of a side twist. Good for reading whilst snuggled up in the evening with a glass of wine!

A lot of tell and not a lot of show. And who are all of these random people? If each book is a standalone, it’s reasonable to expect characters to be introduced in each book. I felt like there was a whole inside joke between the characters and Jeremy but I have no idea what it was. Just odd.
Kayley's sister has invented a formula for a drug that treats Alzheimer's and bad guys are after her, her sister and mother. Tank is assigned to bring Kayley and her mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's but is taking the drug, to safety.
There are some good moments:
He was only a few feet away from her but she still hadn’t noticed him. It was no wonder she needed protection. He cleared his throat. “Hayley Elliott? I’m—” She spun on her feet, her arm stiff and straight. Damn. He twisted sideways, blocked her with his forearm, but not quick enough to miss the pepper spray aimed at his face. The pain nearly blinded him. He moved forward, grabbing her as she ran around the side of her car. Instead of pulling away, she stepped into his arms and kneed him in the groin.
and
He sent her the type of look that made most people shake in their boots. (Kaylee to Tank)- “If that’s your best shot, you’re in serious trouble. Patients in nursing homes have more attitude than that.”
Note: There are *no* "steamy" scenes here! Romance- yes, but no "hanky panky".
I liked the book, but I felt it was rushed. We were told about things that could happen, then it was over, we weren't taken through the journey of how things happened. There was a love story but it also lacked. Tank and Hayley may have kissed twice, no sex was mentioned, and "bam" they were ready to get married. I just wanted more romance from them.

This novel could very easily have been at least a four-star, except for a few things that kept me from enjoying it fully.
* Several times one of the main characters used the D-word (swore). * There was no spiritual input to the story. There was a side character named Pastor Steven, but even he gave no spiritual insights in the story. * Both the main and secondary characters (Hayley and Sophie) stayed in the homes of their boyfriends when not married to them.
However, despite the above, the plot was excellent. It was the thriller/suspense novel of the military, war memories of Afghanistan, drug cartels, betrayal and romance.
Fast-paced, with lots of twists and turns. However, because of the three items listed, I feel uncomfortable recommending this novel.
This book is clean with no dirty words or sex. I appreciate that very much. I thank the author for that. I liked the first part of the story the best. The beginning of the story drew me in fast with its action. Tank was a wonderful leading man who has been hurt by life and struggling to win his battle with depression, panic attacks and PTSD. He was a caring person. I had trouble liking Hayley. She would not listen to anyone most of the time, leading to many life threatening mistakes. I dislike it when main characters do that. To me, it makes them a so-so character. The story is well written and edited.
I've been on a streak of shorter stories unexpectedly so when this one got to what would have been the end of the other stories it kept going adding more to the story not just dragging it out. It resolved the happenings, I have been frustrated with authors having characters declare they really like each other and then the end, uh need more. This book delivers. Exciting beginning that jumps you into the story but doesn't leave you wondering what is going on. It builds the storyline well with great characters and believable storyline and events. Good read. Clean no intimate details or language.
The more books I read by Leeanna Morgan, the more I change which one is my favorite. Safe Haven is now my favorite. I was looking forward to reading Tank’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. Tank and Hayley are such a fun couple to read about. Of course, there was plenty of suspense, while Tank was protecting her. Tank and Hayley have both endured some trying times, but there’s hope in their future. I won’t leave any spoilers, so grab your copy and see why Tank is one of my favorite characters.
This is a well written story. Just enough mystery and a whole lot of love. Haley and Tank are both very interesting characters. Haley a nurse taking care of her mother suffering with Alzheimer. Tank sent to help bring Haley and her mom back to Bozeman. They begin getting to know each other in the long journey West. I just love Tank. He is such a tough guy but with a sweet tender soul. For those who care. This book only has a cuss word of two. It is a sweet "clean" read. Another job well done Me wanna Morgan!
A nurse, Hayley, and her mother, Alice, who suffers from Alzheimer’s are being relocated by an agency that employs a bodyguard named Tank. Haley’s sister and Alices’s daughter, Sophia, has created a supplement for Alzheimer’s that has made a difference in Alice and could be worth millions to the industry once patented and marketed. That is why they need to be protected from those who want to steal this supplement. Many circumstances, family situations and suppressed feelings make an interesting read!
Safe Haven by Leeanna Morgan - I did enjoy the book. It was an adventure that brought two people together and they found love. It had elements of real life issues with Alzheimer's being a big focus and also touched on the demons Military Personnel have to deal with experiencing PTSD which so many people on the outside never see, and it brought together two amazing souls. Both Tank and Hayley are well written characters who come together and find love helping each other through some pretty heavy life experience and ordeals.
I love a quick contemporary which pulls at the heartstrings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it had many aspects to it, though some predictable, there was a few surprises that weren't expected. The main protagonist (Hayley), made the book through her charismatic ways. A classic story with a bit of romance, what more could you want from a contemporary?
I was so happy that Haley & Tank got their own story! They were wonderfully paired. Tank needed Hayley's support and even her stubbornness, and Hayley needed someone to care for. Tank's story of his time in the SEAL's was heartbreaking, but Hayley provided a "safe place to land" and steady support. And Tank wonderfully filled Haley's heart! The end of the story was so lovely. I *love* how Ms. Morgan threads all of her different series into one another. It's my favorite sort of reading.
I enjoyed this story with its suspense, romance, occasional humor, and twists and turns. I wish I knew the backgrounds of some of the other characters better (from other stories); I'll have to read more books in the series to learn about them and their stories. I enjoyed the relationships between sisters and their mother and a look into caring for someone with Alzheimer's. I highly recommend this book.
Hm. DNF at 10%, for several reasons that leave me mistrustful of this author's ability.
Plot: this secret supplement/cat and mouse thing for which the heroine needs a bodyguard makes no sense. I don't know why this bodyguard was with her sister, or why Montana is any safer than anywhere else.
Characters: this is a romance? I don't even sense any chemistry between the two point of view characters. Or heck, any interest at all. No covert glances. No unexpected tingles. Yawn.
I really enjoyed this book. It has lots of great attributes: development of a crucial supplement to help and heal people; a great family; fantastic friends and co-workers; and following dreams previously put on hold. Really enjoyed every minute of the story. Appreciated the information on panic attacks too. So, not just a good read, but more. Sounds like a series to pursue further.
It's definitely wishful thinking to create a cure for Alzheimer’s and to think it's even affordable. But we can dream, can't we? The characters are absolutely wonderful. The story has two plot lines going which are both rather interesting. There's the pharmaceutical plot and then there's the big brother plot line. Both will wring tears from your eyes and feeling from your heart. Recommended.
