You will hardly take 30 mins to read this story but then you will be touched with the breeze of love, of romance and also of a little sprint of horror. The plot of the story is real simple. The protagonist will lose his love at the beginning and towards the end he will realize the value of love through someone else's life story. And that someone else's story actually binds the whole part. The story starts will a sweet and happy note, then takes a falling action and the climax courses through the realization of the protagonist. This actually satisfies the technical devices that are needed for the construction of a plot. The language being simple, it is easy to dive into the tale. Being a short and good read, anyone can read it anytime and you will surely enjoy the tale.
I just loved the way, how the author made all the characters and narrated their story in a very short version. The good part is that all the characters are well built. The narration could have a little bit more better but still it's okay. The story has a very emotional touch about some loss and pain. The language is simple. The cover is really eye catching. A short but good read!
Does live in relationships work? Is it a modern phenomenon or an age old thing.
Aarav’s live in GF gets pregnant and he is confused what to do. She leaves him in a rage. He goes to Mussorie to his old home and complete the novel. His uncle was a successful businessman who withdrew to that home later on. There his uncle met a mysterious woman and fell in love.
The story is simple but tugs at your heart. It is olden days live in kind of thing. Is love name of sacrifice? This is fort part of the series and was very good. 3/ 5 stars.
The Gift started as a regular love story. But soon torrent of emotions turned it into a melancholy read and the climax will take you by surprise. It will jolt you and you will end up re reading it again.
The story is about Aarav who was nursing a breakup because he was reluctant to take up the responsibility of a baby. He goes to his ancestral home in Mussoorie. There, due to some incidents, he realises his mistake and want to rectify it before delay. What were those incidents? It is the crux of the story.
I loved the author's writing style. It was effortless and flawless. The atmosphere and ambience are well used and further contribute to the overall mood of the story.
Aarav a commissioning editor in a publishing house is on the brink of writing his novel. His determination to complete his unfinished work brought him to his ancestral home in Mussoorie. Meanwhile his past follows him like a dark shadow.
A heady concoction of longing and suspense will leave you with a haunted feeling. The eloquent language and picturesque settings will evoke the right emotions
Book Name: The gift (It’s all about Love series) Author Name: Sourabh Mukherjee Format: Kindle No of Pages: 28 Publisher: Srishti Publishers & Distributers (10/9/2018) Blurb: The blurb of the book is written perfectly highlighting the core of the story. Cover: The front cover of the book is catching and it is depicting the major substance of the book. Title: The title of the book is simple yet significant according to the base content of the book. Language & narration: Language of the book is lucid & simple enough to comprehend and the vivid descriptive narration of the events made the book more pleasing to read. Plot: The plot of the book crafted thoughtfully keeping the aspect of a Love series in mind. I’d like to say that, in a simple yet ecstatic way, the author developed this first book in this series quite captivatingly. Setting: Setting of this story is in Mussoorie – Dehradun. Characterization: The characters of the story are portrayed clearly and each one of them is finely justified to their respective roles throughout the book. Name of some characters mentioned in the book are- Ishika, Aarav, Suraj Bhatia, Mrs. Baakshi, Kishan, Bhushan, Gauri. Theme: Love, Romance, Paranormal. Content & My Verdict: This book is the 1st book of the “It’s all about Love” series by the author Sourabh Mukherjee. I have to admit that this story has made me curious to go through the next book in this series indeed. First of all, this particular theme is enough to draw & hook my attention towards and with this book, and the content has done the rest of the work. Following an unpleasant incident and misunderstanding between two live-in partners Ishika & Aarav, Ishika parted her way from Aarav and that incident left him numb and shattered from inside. Aarav was feeling alone and to compose himself and also to finish his 1st novel, he landed in Mussoorie, which was his ancestral home, and he spent some most memorable time there in his childhood, with his cousins and other family members, while the host was his uncle Suraj Bhatia. Aarav decided to pen down his uncle’s journey and turn that into his first book. While going through an unfinished part of his uncle’s (late) life, Aarav discovered such facts about him from his diary, that left him stunned to the core… What was the truth that was hidden and buried long ago in those pages of the diary? What kind of shock did Aarav get to face? What was the significance of the ‘gift’? To know these answers, grab your copy of this book now and read it in a go. Author Sourabh Mukherjee has neatly penned down a simple yet touching journey of love, feelings and emotions, in a compact way, and touchingly of course. Starting the story with a sensitive issue and ending this volume on that similar note is what I like the most. The journey of Suraj Bhatia was what this story signifies. The pain, misunderstanding, solitary, emotions, love, innocence, and sacrifice- everything is portrayed here evidently. I liked the way author maintained the authentic descriptive narrating style throughout. The climax gave me a heart wrenching feeling that I was not expecting. Soulful love is what the journey beholds and more. Would be eagerly looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. Recommendation: I would like to recommend this book to love readers and romance lovers and to everyone who loves to go through soulful journey of love and life. Thank you. Rating (Overall): 4/5 Stars.
Book Title: The Gift Author: Sourabh Mukherjee Format: Kindle
Book Title: The title of the book, ' The Gift ' is emotional and sentimental.
Book Cover: The cover image of the book is a rattle used by little kids depicting the story might be nostalgic. The text about the rattle image says ' It's all about love series ' definitely hints the reader the story is about love.
Plot: The story starts with Aarav, the protagonist, who is also a writer and in the verge of completing his novel, decides to travel to Mussorrie as he seeks solace and peace while writing. Due to the recent events in his personal life with his wife, Ishika, disturbed him and unknowingly his focus became weak. Thus, he decided to visit his ancestral house, where once his unmarried uncle Suraj Bhatia used to live. Aarav wanted to take a break, relax and complete the novel.
As he reached the house, Mrs.Bakshi welcomed him with a warm hug and introduced the little boy Kishan. Since the moment Aarav saw Kishan, a mysterious and unexplainable intense emotion develops between them. Who is Kishan? What is his story? How is he related to Aarav? Does the story has a meaningful end? How does this boy mend the rough patches between Aarav and his wife?
What I like: 1. Two parallel stories are intertwined well together 2. The main protagonist and his personality transformation is written nicely 3. A gulp of surprise towards the ending of the story definitely strikes a reader's interest
What I didn't like: I sometimes dislike filling this block, because some stories are a perfect read without any flaws and this one is such!
Characters: All the characters are beautifully portrayed.
Narration: A smooth and interesting story narration is observed.
Language & Grammar: Uncomplicated language and good vocabulary are used.
My Final Verdict: A story with a surprising climax.
Book Title: 3/5 Book Cover: 3/5 Plot: 4/5 Characters: 4/5 Narration: 4/5 Language & Grammar: 4/5
Having read short series from the author I was pretty excited to read authors take over this genre and Author did a brilliant job penning down the story successfully having the reader along with the story. This is the first book in this series which actually has left me waiting for the second one. The cover is so beautiful and title also falls along so well in the book. The start is so joyous and the way the story has been put up is so smooth. You will feel along of emotions and actually go like aww in the end of the story. The plot is simple and based on love. As it is a small 30 page read I will not give away any twists of much about the story but I really did enjoy reading it and cannot wait for the next one. The language is easy and the story paces well. The way author put up the relationship between ishika and arnav. to the twists. This book is a melodious, short and stunning read! overall-4/5
The author says the story behind a baby which is yet to born and what are the difficulties and struggles it may brings to the certain life. Aarav and Ishika were in a live-in when one day Ishika discloses the news about her pregnancy to Aarav. He somewhere not yet ready for it because of various financial reasons, now they had misunderstood each other and part their ways. When Aarav working on his debut novel he read his uncle Suraj's last diary which made him understand something certainly changes his life and perspectives. What were written in it? Did they united together? Did he able to finish his novel? are the remaining dots you need to complete for enjoying this quiet rejoicing short novela. I completely liked everything in this story the two dimensional narration, a strong story line, variations from love to horror.
Overall, an short crispy read with easy language, a good start for the this novela series.
The first thing that I have to say about this short story was that it was fairly short and not my cup of tea. Be a story short or long, I like my stories to have something exciting going on within them. This book barely held any excitement for me. In fact, it was nothing but about a boy running away from his reality and finding solace in the sins of a dead man. I say sin because although it is mentioned that the old man loved the girl, it is nowhere mentioned that the girl loved him. She probably gave herself to him for fear of losing her job (yeah, you got it - she was his servant!). Why else would she have run away the next day itself?
Probably the only thing that I liked per se was how the two stories were linked. They didn't have much in common but they held the boy understand what he wanted in his life. So that's good!
The author's writing style was fairly simple so that was a plus but I doubt I can say anything else about well, anything else. It was an okay-ish story that disappointed me a great deal.
A Series of Book and it starts with a bang.. !!!!!!! A beautifully scripted story-line which is just just within 30 Pages , so considering the manner in which the plot is described full credits to the author. It also has a beautiful cover to go with it.
A smooth flow of love is evident across the story which also has twist associated with it. The books is really worth your time trust me, when you spend 30 -45 min read , trust me its an absolute page turner
I am now eagerly waiting for the next book of the series.
At times it happens that the cover of the book and the title of the book both appeals the eyes together. The same happened to me when I ordered 'The Gift ' by Sourabh Mukherjee. The title is apt for the book. No other title would have total justice to the book. Moving to the storyline of the book, the book is an easy read. The book holds the story of Aarav, the main protagonist of the book. The book starts with the misunderstanding or I must say miss communication between Aarav and Ishika, his girlfriend. Aarav suffers from too much mental stress of a sudden and he decides to go to Dehradun to complete his novel before the deadline. He reaches to his uncle place Mr. Suraj. Meeting Mrs. Bakshi he finds a new member that is Kishan. There is a sequence of secrets revealed pages after pages. What I like the most is the author has well plotted the story in minimum pages. A complete intriguing story what I felt after reading it. The language is easy and the book is a quick interesting read.
There Is Something About Sourabh Mukherjee’s Writing That Gives His Regular Readers An Instinctive Feel That Any Book Of His You Hold Has Been Exclusively Written For You Only. That Is The Connect He Magically Creates With His Readers. Like The Gift Many Of His Coffee Shot Books Maybe Quickie Reads But It It Never Stops Amazing How Much He Can Actually Pack Into A Book That Is Barely More Than 30 Odd Pages With So Much Clarity Of Thought. No Matter What The Genre Maybe It Is Very Rare That His Readers May End Up Feeling Shortchanged Or Taken For Granted.

Review -
" The Gift " by Sourabh Mukherjee is the 1st book of the “It’s all about Love series". The theme of the book is enough to hook my attention towards the novel as I am a romantic fiction lover.
With a great message and emotional touch, the story of the book is short and simple. The protagonist of the story is Aarav who is a writer. The story starts with a surprise news that Aarav's live-in girlfriend is pregnant. He gets anxious, he thinks he isn’t ready to take this responsibility and says something that upsets her and she decides to leave the house immediately. In the same week the deadline to submit the draft of his novel to the publishers is due. With so many things happening in his life,he decides to visit his ancestral ( Suraj Bhatia uncle’s ) house in Mussoorie where he could unwind and finish his novel and also get a clearer perspective towards his relationship.
What happened next in the story ? What happened further when Aarav reached to his ancestral's house ? Did the misunderstanding / problems between two live-in partners gets clear ? Well to know all the answers af these questions just go and buy the copy of this wonderful story and be the part of the It’s all about Love series. I dont want to ruin the feel of the story.
The title "The Gift " is simple and not so catchy yet it completely justifies with the story.. On the other hand the cover page of the book is a eye catching and also it depicts the main plots of the book and the text ' It's all about love series ' on the front side gives hints to the reader that the story is about love.
Language of the book is lucid , simple and easy to understand. Characterization of the story built so well.
Book Title: 3.5/5 Book Cover: 4/5 Plot: 4/5 Characters: 4/5 Narration: 4/5 Language & Grammar: 4/5 Final Rating: 4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.I would personally recommend this book to all the book lovers, romantic fiction lovers and specially those who believe in love . Eagerly waiting for the next book on this series..
This is a very inspiring love story of Aarav who is also a writer and moves to Mussorie in hopes of finding solace in writing and completing his novel. The story begins with showing his disturbed state of mind as his issues with Ishika, his wife and some events in personal life gets worse. He expects to take a break from his life and move to a different place, but what he finds in his journey is something that is really inspiring and mysterious to read. He decides to stay in his ancestral house where his unmarried uncle, Suraj Bhatia used to live but over there he has an unexpected turn of events that he could have never imagined earlier, where all he expected from his journey was just to finish his novel and get some peace of mind. Mrs. Bakshi introduces him to Kishan, and from the moment he sees him he feels an unexplainable, intense pull towards him. Needless to say, it is due to Kishan that this story becomes interesting, if not mysterious. Moreover, as Aarav finds somethings in attic that could reveal some heart-warming family secrets, he finds the entire experience and his relationship with Kishan menind the rough patches with his wife as well. The Gift is a well written complex novel and follows the structure of parallel plot line, which is not that easy to pull off. But Sourabh not only brings out the mysterious element in the story, but also manages to connect with the emotion of love as well. This is not just another romance novel and it needs a pat-on-the-back for its unpredictable plot. The mixture of romance with mystery is not something easily seen within Indian Novels. The Gift is a fast-paced plot with good narration backed with a strong plot.
The book is the first one in “it’s all about love series’ by Sourabh Mukherjee. The plot starts with Aarav and his girlfriend getting to know that they are having a baby. This good news doesn’t seem like one for him, he currently has a deadline and is quite unsure of the time the two pink lines came up for Ishika. She storms out of the apartment knowing that Aarav is not happy with the little one coming and decides to leave him.
Aarav having a deadline to submit a novel is being pressurized by the publishing house. So in order to get a clear mind and to complete his work, he moves to Mussoorie to his ancestral house in Dehradun. He’s being welcomed by Mrs. Bakshi, the caretaker. She introduces him to a small kid, Kishan. One immediate look at him, Aarav is suspicious and starts looking for answers on his whereabouts. He realizes that the boy resembles someone who was close to him. He then starts to read his uncle’s diary which was left incomplete since the last time he visited.
It is only while reading it there comes an intertwined love story and the mystery behind Kishan’s existence. A lovable tale which makes you want to read the next book in the series.
Though the book is small about 28 pages, the tale is interesting and gives you a good feeling.
The writing style is simple and clear. The plot is interesting, where the intertwined story that unfolds gives the protagonist a thought and to change his mind. Characterizations are good while the main focus is only on Aarav, the author does justice to the other characters as well.
The climax is something that is quite unexpected, but to come to know the fact why it was portrayed that way is truly remarkable.
The main characters in the book are Aarav. This short story is of 28 pages only and about Aarav. Aarav who is working as a commissioning editor with a publishing house living with his girlfriend Ishika in a apartment. He is working on his new novel which is about his uncle, who was once a business magnet but in his late days he wound up his business and moved to the hills of mussoorie. So the story starts when ishika informs aarav that they are having a baby and Aarav's world turns upside down, as he's not settled yet and is working on his first novel and ishika's promotion was due for more than a year. And having a baby right now was huge for aarav. Never expecting such an reaction from aarav, ishika decides to move out from the apartment and aarav tries to focus on his first novel as the last date of submission was near. So he decides to move to mussoorie and find the missing diary of his uncle's journal which will help him to complete the novel and to know more about his uncle and his last days alone in the house. But, he gets to know about a horrific truth about his uncle's past days which turned the things upside down for aarav. The plot of this short story was engaging but I expected more so for me it was an ok read. The writing was spectacular yet simple. It was a little exciting to read about aarav and his life. The climax somehow was not expected but it didnt blow my mind, it felt flat to me. So overall it was worth the read. Maybe you all will enjoy this short story. A one time read I would say.

Review-
Pain, Loneliness, Love, Sadness and Happiness are what different parts of life are defined with. Sometimes love is what brings every part of life into one single moment and breaks it apart. This story revolves around a house where the protagonist has shifted after breaking up with his girlfriend because of some misunderstandings. But the pain doesn't let him concentrate in his life so he moves in a different place where he reveals a hidden secret in the form of a book written by his uncle. This book comes in his life and helps him complete his novel.
What's the secret which helps Aarav understand life? Will he once again find his lost love? I loved the overall plot of this book and the way author has come up with such creativity. The title fits perfectly but I didn't find the cover much attractive.
Name of the book - The Gift by #SourabhMukjerjee Status - 5 stars out of 5 stars plus a bag full of candies... Synopsis - After his bitter break-up with girlfriend Ishika, Aarav heads for his ancestral house in Mussoorie to get over his grief and to finish the novel he is working on. He meets Kishan, a child who has strayed into the house and spends his nights in the dusty, dark attic, scavenging through old books and toys that once belonged to Aarav and his cousins. Aarav finds his uncle’s diary, which chronicles a heart-warming love story unfolding in that house. What life-changing family secret does Aarav uncover... My Take- I loved it. The book is not even 50 pages, 45 if you count the contents pages but the story is of some 39 pages. So essentially it should be called a short story, right? WRONG! In those pages the writer has not only described his situation or his uncle’s but he has essentially drawn a picture so vivid that one gets it all in one go. The descriptions are so life like, it's almost like seeing it all happen in front of you. There are two parts in the story which are woven together with some really good writing craftsmanship. And some parts were so goosebump worthy that I had to stop for a second to check if someone was looking at me. All in all this is one of those must reads, that you havta havta havta read. Don't take my word for it, go check it out yourself. This book has the thrill of a short story with the essence & fulfillment of a novel. So, I, Manali Dey will love to give The Gift by Sourabh Mukherjee a big 5 on 5 stars and lots of candy.
Book Title: The Gift Author: Sourabh Mukherjee Format: Kindle
The plot revolves around Aarav, our protagonist. He is a writer and trying to complete his first novel which is based on his uncle, Suraj Bhatia’s life. His uncle was a successful business man who moved from rags to riches and then left everything to find peace and moved to Mussorie. Aarav’s personal life takes an unexpected turn when his girlfriend, Ishika gives him an astonishing news which he couldn’t take well and Ishika leaves him. After all this he is not able to concentrate on his writing and decides to visit his ancestral place in Mussorie to compose himself and find some peace to finish his book. Here, he finds a boy Kishan, who looks mysterious but familiar. What is the family secret? Who is this boy? Is he actually someone Aarav knows? Why is the title, The Book? Grab this book to get answers. It is a very simple and short story. Narration is very crisp and language is easy. It’s a mix of romance and mystery elements. It’s hardly a 30 min read which is quite interesting as in 30 min you will get a glimpse of modern day relation, emotions and romance, little bit of thrill and pinch of horror. While the ending was predictable, the climax with horror twist was startling.
The plot of the story is real simple. The book opens up with the story of Aarav and Ishika, live in partners. The book starts with the miscommunication between Aarav and Ishika. Ishika parted her way from Aarav and that incident left him numb and shattered from inside. Not everything goes as planned as he discovers his uncle’s diary which leads him to certain facts about his family that he wasn’t aware of.
The front cover of the book is not only catching but it is aptly justifying the significance of the story. The title is simple yet perfect for the story, given what follows in the plot. The characters of the story are portrayed clearly and every character is finely justified to their respective roles throughout the book. I loved the author's writing style. The language of the book is simple enough to connect with the readers.
This book has the thrill of a short story with the essence & fulfillment of a novel. Overall, The Gift is an amazing read and I highly recommend it.

The cover looks beautiful and gives any the gist of the story.
The title is simple yet perfect for the story, given what follows in the plot.
The blurb of the book highlights the soul of the story amazingly.
The story begins with the separation of Aarav and Ishika. The protagonist Aarav is a writer and moves to Mussoorie to complete his novel. There he was introduced to Kishan, who seemed a mysterious boy. The two stories in the plot furthers perfectly together. Read this 30 minute story to know what happens in the End.
The characterization is done with an amazing clarity. The Plot has few characters but their role were justified.
The language of the book is simple enough to connect with the readers.
Looking forward to read next part of "It's all about Love series".
Just finished reading this book and here I'm writing review. Firstly I need to tell I enjoyed this short read. It took hardly 30 minutes to finish. Now let me move to the story part, there's one main protagonist aarav who is writer. Starting of the book is aarav's misunderstanding with his life, his gf ishika when she is expecting a baby. Restless mind of his trying to write novel. Then he goes to his old ancestral's home. Where he meets kishan, who is mysterious to him. But his Suraj uncle's diary reveals secrets and makes him realise about true love and true value of relationship. I like the fast pace of the story. Narration is flawless. Loved reading throughout the story.
The gift is a short story which talks about living relationships, society, human tendency, traditional mindset in our country India.
The author has penned down the story from first person's perspective. Overall, the story has a good feel which makes it interesting to read.
Language is good, simple, easy to read & understand. The story is quite simple & nothing new. It was predictable at times. But the message imparted to the readers & society as a whole is apparently appreciable! Narration is good.. There were times when I felt the book is missing something, some rhythm to touch the reader's heart. Overall, a good onetime read!
Another wonderful short story by Saurabh Mukherjee that I completely adored. The Gift, unlike the Mask has well developed character background that almost makes it feel like a novella.
With a very comprehensive and excellent vocabulary, the author leaves a mark in your heart with his work.
An excellent short story that explores the meaning of human relationships and grief with a vivid and lyrical whiff of romance.
The book opens up with the story of Aarav and Ishika, live in partners. When Ishika reveals that she was pregnant, it was nothing but a shock to Aarav as he hasn't expected it and was also not ready for it. His indifference makes Ishika to step out of the house. On the other hand, Aarav was given a deadline of one week to finish his story which is based on the life story of his uncle. So he goes in search of his uncle's lost diary to finish the story. There he comes across some unbelievable shocking truth about his uncle and also a mysterical little boy. Who was the boy?? What did his uncle do?? Was Aarav united with Ishika??
The Gift - an amalgamation of thriller and romance. The plot is captivative and the mystery proves to be an immediate page turner. But the end could have been furnished. In just 20 minutes, the story delivers a much needed lesson on love and relationships. The narration is enticing and the book is error free.
When Aarav is faced with a reality that could change his life, he is unable to make a decision on the spot. Instead, he takes off to Mussourie, to his uncle’s place, to cut off from everything that is his present and to concentrate on his writing. Not everything goes as planned as he discovers his uncle’s diary which leads him to certain facts about his family that he wasn’t aware of. How his uncle’s journal changes the course of his life is what this story is about. This story is partly about self discovery and partly about finding what is really valuable in life.
The Gift is a light yet strong short read that colors a slice of life of Aarav. It is a realistic and intriguing story that casts light on relationships and its beauty of today's world. According to my experience, the author, Sourabh Mukherjee is a master in creating beautiful short stories that could leave a strong impact on his readers and this one is no exception. It is great to see him again creating wonders through this series. A pretty amazing story with a strong story and strong characters! Loved it!
