As a the new century turns bringing brighter hope, fantastic wonders, and new developments, Joan Masoon finds herself still living in the past. Orphaned at a young age and soon to turn eighteen she must find a way to make a living but hopes for a new life, even in the brave new world of the burgeoning twentieth-century she finds herself with little recourse but to reply to the dwindling call for a mail order bride. With new fears rising at every turn she sets off to what will most surely be a life of drudgery and despair. Big, awkward and kind, Eric Ballard wishes for a chance to meet that special someone to build a life with. After watching his parents, aunts and uncles each find love his heart is full of dreams for that perfect relationship but as he shoulders more and more of the burden of working the fields at the Broken J Ranch, he has little time to entertain the notion of courting. Confiding only in his mother, he writes to a mail order bride agency trusting that his dreams will come true. Can two people coming from vastly different upbringings find love amidst the love, laughter, and even loss of a family that has grown to overflowing even the great Wyoming prairie, or will they simply live as strangers in a house that can never be a home?
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
I love generational stories. Seeing families continue their lines from the first and creating a legacy. Stand alone books are good, but I love continuing stories. I especially love this series because it is the backdrop of another series in the contemporary genre. It brings to life things that the Author has built upon over the years and taken it to the next century. Danni Roan is a master story teller. Her books are filled with the wonder of the old west and keep families strong. Eric Ballard wants what his parents and other family members have. Love and Companionship. He sends for a mail order bride. Joan Masoon, an orphan nearing 18 and about to be on her own for the first time in her life, answers Eric's missive and they embark on an adventure to become husband and wife and partners. Can they make it work? He from a loving family and she orphaned as a young girl. Each knowing little about the other. Take a chance and give this book a read. You will enjoy it! I received an ARC of this book. I have chosen to review it and the opinions here are my own.
Joan a mail order bride from a orphanage. She that wrote to Eric before coming out to Wyoming too the Broken J Ranch. Eric a grown man who loves the land and wants a woman that will help him on the Ranch. Joan is unsure if she will find love with Eric but is willing too try. Joan will end up Saving the Day, but will Joan find love in the arms of Eric or will she end up leaving the Ranch heartbroken. FYI this is a great book if you are sensitive like me be prepared to cry but you will enjoy this book
Eric was the oldest grandson of Joshua the patriarch of the Broken J family and he has sent for a mail order bride. Joan is Eric's mail order bride and an orphan with feelings of being not wanted and being alone in the world. This is the end of the Cattleman's Daughters and the Companion stories that go along with them. These stories are some of the best I have ever read and they tell the complete story of the Broken N Ranch and it's families. They are a must read.😘
This story is about the love that Eric, Joshua's James first grandchild, finds in his mail order bride, Joan. Eric has no time for courting and posts for a mail order bride. Joan has been an orphan since she was a baby. No one ever wanted her, so she answers the post. Next thing she knows, she is on a train to Wyoming to meet Eric, her future husband. She is overwhelmed with the large extended family in the Broken J ranch. Will she finally find warmth and love here?
Eric and Joan complete the families on the Broken J ranch. Danni Roan has a way of finishing a story to make you feel as if you were there and a part of the happenings. Laughter and tears are part of life and certainly a part of the books in The Cattleman's Daughters series. So glad to have read and been a part of this series.
Each of these books really stir me.. Such actual life e,experiences holding much insight. Proving how God watches and scares for all..I don't dislike anything and highly recommend for all ages.
Each of these books stores me . Life's experiences well told. Proving we are all loved and watched by God. Recommend to all Especially good for someone doing counseling.
Wonderful, moving, & caring!! Joan is a story of hope, love, and sadness. Even in the face of sadness we learn that there will always be more happiness to come, if we just allow it.
I like the way this story brings in the whole family. A young boy who is now a man ...you get to see glimpses of his boyhood. I didn't not buy many books but I may get this one is a keeper.
He was surrounded by family but still felt alone. She came from a orphanage surrounded by kids but felt unwanted and the story tells how they made each other not be lonely any more.
Joan companion book seven of the series is another great book. It has lots of drama some humor and a little sadness. The romance between Eric and Joan is very sweet.
It’s a wonderful, endearing story, especially after getting to know Eric through all the other books and then finding his heart’s desire, like we all want for our own kids. I thought Scooter was an absolute delight. Enjoy 👍👍👍🔮💜
A sweet clean Western Romance in which we follow the story of Eric Nallard, oldest grandchild of cattleman Joshua James, and his mail -order bride. We see a sweet circle of life fulfilled as through trial and tribulations Eric and Joan get to know each other.
Best way to finish a group of books with the same characters involved
Enjoyed reading about Eric and how he,too. Came to be a part of the Names family. Author shows true ability fun her books to show warmth. Passion and love for all. Until we in the story.
I highly recommend this book and the ones before it in this series. I have enjoyed every single book and could hardly quit reading them until I’d finished each one. You will thoroughly enjoy the entire series!
The Cattleman's Daughters and the Companion books are such great stories that make me smile, laugh and have even brought tears to my eyes. I really enjoy the characters and their stories.
The oldest grandson of the cattleman sends for a mailorder bride. He is so lucky that Joan is everything a man could want in a wife but how to convince her that he loves her.
