The story follows Anthony George, the senior PI of Marsti town. When his six-year-old daughter Samantha gets kidnapped and later on is found brutally abused and murdered, he wouldn't rest until the man responsible for this heinous crime is put behind bars. After losing his wife, Tony’s shattered world was held together by his daughter’s happiness. Now that he had lost everything, there was nothing but just empty void in his heart. But as an inspector, he spent all his sleepless nights and restless days investigating and going through shreds of evidence just to make sure he doesn’t commit any error.

Further, as the investigation proceeds, other cases come into the light. Trying to figure out this complicated case takes a toll on him both socially and personally. Tony realizes the similarities and the MO of the offender has with similar past cases which were thoroughly examined and the criminal was already put behind bars. Then how is the same pattern being followed and who is doing all this with the utmost precision?

With each passing day and another disappointingly agonizing dead end, will Tony be able to solve this case and bring justice for his daughter?

This is a suspense/thriller book which was amazingly well—written. The author, in my opinion, has a stellar job in portraying a father’s helplessness and the anguish he goes through when he loses his child. I had a few theories as to who might be the real offender might but I was wrong. The entire book was detailed, without any plot holes and kept me intrigued.

Although this was a fictional thriller/suspense mystery, it felt like reading a true-crime novel. The plot was unforeseeable which is a must if one wishes to read an outstanding mystery. The twists and turns, as well as the revelation of secrets, were intricately designed to surprise the readers in the best way possible.

If you love reading Karin Slaughter’s novels and I can assure you’ll this one as well.

Name of the book - Lost Without Her by Pournima Navani.
Stars given - 5 on 5 stars and a big hug.
My take on the book -
So once in a while I come across a book that makes my heayrt go boom and this one is on the top my list.
After I finished the book I went and hugged my dad. Yeaps it was that kinda difficult being a cop's daughter I related to this book on a different level.
When I was young my Dad used to joke around saying that no one will kidnap me cause I talk too much and even if they did they will return me within the minute. I used to get miffed at the joke. But then after growing up, when I went out in the big world out there I realized how protected I was from all that is bad in the world and my Dad was responsible for making sure I stay true to myself and be the best version of me.
This book will make you emotional as it did me.
I am not very vocal about my love for my Bapu but it's there in lots and loads for sure.

Lost without her by Pourinima Navami is a crime thriller. I think everyone must read this book as it narrates the pain of rape victims and situation of the people around them. Currently the rape rate has increased in India and it becomes the least safe country for girls and women.

The whole plot sets in a small village Marsti at TamilNadu. Sam, a six-year-old child kidnapped from her own house’s backyard. A radon person found her in woods and informed to police. The victim’s father Anthony George is a police inspector and he took over this case. The postmodern report states that the child had been drugged and murdered abruptly. Anthony George couldn’t digest the truth and also, he blamed himself for his daughter’s death. Simultaneously, the author narrates the terrible life of Nancy. At certain point both the stories consolidate with each other. On the other hand, inspector Anthony George didn’t have any clues to find out the assailant. So totally he is in a horrible situation where he couldn't able to find out the rapist and his vengeance sprouts day by day.

How he is going to find out the person? Who might be the person is?

This is a book with abounding twists and turns. The main focal point of the book is the life of a father after his daughter's death. The author described father and daughter relationship excellently. The characters are framed well and the climax is like a blast. It amazed me so much. Language and narration are well and good. I felt the pace gradually decreased in second half. It is good engaging read with unpredictable ending. Overall lost without her is a voice of every Nancy and Sam.

I'll give 4.3/5

Due to this disturbing moment & injustice that happened to his daughter he decided to find out the Man who was responsible for this brutal Crime & to put him behind the bars.

The officer in quest of that unknown man & all those tragic incidents is brought well in the story. The life challenges and sufferings faced by him after losing everything is brilliantly described in the book. The emotions are pretty good explained through words. The description of various places in South India makes it a cherry on top of the cake.
.
The story is interesting with lot of twist and turns which makes it worth reading. The language is simple and easy to understand.the writing skills of the author is impressive.
.
The characters are built up strong and realistic. The risk and efforts of a father who takes courage to find out the guilty person who is responsible for his daughters makes it a challenging character.
.
The title and cover of the book is good and related to its inner content.
.
Overall it's a Thriller , murder mystery and an amazing story.

The story is about a father whose daughter is raped and murdered in the most brutal manner. In quest of searching the person responsible, Anthony searches in Chennai, Bangalore and Tiruchirappalli where similar murders have taken place.

As they say when the child faces sexual abuse, it is usually the person whom the family knows and trusts. Though the story is gripping, it takes little time for the reader to build the curiosity of what happens next. The last twenty pages leaves you shaken of the brutality of how child abuse can affect a person. I found myself in tears reading these pages. The epilogue was a fitting end to this story.

First of all, I would like to commend the author for having the courage to tackle such a difficult subject. We read about such horrific incidents involving young children almost on a daily basis.
The story is set in the sleepy town of Marsti in the state of Tamil Nadu. One quiet afternoon, Samantha George, the six-year old daughter of Inspector Anthony George, is abducted. Though there is an extensive search for her, only her body is found, that too showing evidence of a violent assault.
Inspector Tony, who recently lost his wife, now struggles to come to terms with his daughter’s violent death. However, he is determined that her death should not go unpunished. He launches an investigation into her abduction and death. Even though he is suspended from the police for his unstable behaviour, he continues with his hunt for Samantha’s rapist and killer assisted by some loyal friends and colleagues.
Tony discovers that the town of Marsti contains a lot of dirty secrets which come out as Tony digs deeper to uncover the truth. Tony also finds a connection to a similar crime committed many years ago. This leads him to suspect that there is a serial killer on the loose and takes him across Chennai, Bangalore and Tiruchirappalli. Will Tony be able to catch the killer on time before another young child becomes a victim?
The tension in the story is built up wonderfully. I recommend this book to readers as it is an engrossing, interesting and taut thriller that will keep you guessing till the end.

▪️Genre: Crime/Mystery/fiction
The story starts in September 2016 & ends up like a calm sea after a storm in January 2018.
A six year old gets kidnapped from her own house.
Her body is found after a few days. Reports show that she might have been drugged, raped, tortured and murdered in the most inhuman ways.
How does the father deal with all this?
Inspector Anthony George goes to hunt down the criminal as his own daughter was the victim this time.
Such a crime was unheard of in the sleepy town on Marsti.
How does he go ahead when there is no clue whatsoever and however hard he tries to get his hands on?
Who is this person who seem so near yet impossible to get a hold of?
Who is this person who his daughter was familiar with?
Who is this familiar person who betrayed him in the worst means possible?
This book is the journey of a man whose small daughter gets murdered, how he came to get hold of the most unseeming criminal; how he catch up on the unseeming clues that lead to a most likely pedophile serial killer-rapist.
There is more than that meets the most mysterious corners of your imagination.
One murder leads to several other clues leading to digging up of several other similar murders happening all over the country.
A serial killer going from place to place in hunt of small kids, just to torture them and kill them.
A killer so well informed & experienced so as not to leave behind any clues...what went wrong?
If there is no clue left to disclose at the moment, does the past surface up in mysterious ways so that the dead gets justice in the end? 👍Some highlights:
✔️Fast paced
✔️Makes you cringe while reading as it is that chilling ✔️How the criminal showed an upper hand even though the criminal was known to Anthony
Well, this book gave me similar vibes as when I read Sidney Sheldon's books.
If you have loved 'Tell Me Your Dreams' by Sidney Sheldon, this one is for you.
*What made Anthony take care of this criminal in the end without any ill feelings? 👌This was such a good read!

Review:
This book is brutal, horrifying, and extremely well written. These characters will stay with me forever. The story is written flawlessly and certain passages made me stop, think, and feel. This book tackles so many topics like child molesting, sexuality, depression, rape, mental illness, etc. The further I read the more shocked I became, ending with a feeling of devastation. Powerful and disturbing novel. It's about the pain of a father who losses his child and experiencing desperation and a sense of isolating sadness. The heart-wrenching scene at the end is simply amazing. Written so tenderly and poignantly. The characters are masterfully written, completely engrossing, and filled with emotions all over. The intensity of the storyline keeps you thrilled and you won't put this book down until you finish it. So many twists, turns, and craziness. Some situations are predictable but this book won't disappoint you, it really has a great ending which is completely unpredictable.

The story is about a police officer's dismal episodes when his daughter gets kidnapped, raped and murdered.

The book takes time to build the story and the last few pages is a real turner. The ending will leave the readers in an apparent dismay for the protogonist as well as the antogonist. There are few moments inside the book which gives you thumps up and also, there are few instances where the writing becomes forced. Overall, the book is gripping, suspense filled and is recommended to all book lovers.

Sexual abuse can be confusing and devasting experience for the child as well as for family.
Studies have shown that one out of every 4 girls and one out of every 5 boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old.
On the other hand, Mental Disorders, are worse as compared to any other disorders.
Sexual abuse does not only cause harm to Child's physical body but it gets deep rooted and persistently grows over along time.
When a person faces extreme trauma or pain creates an alter self. That person's personality get divided into two or more identities.
Each identity is separate.
They sometimes know each other and sometimes they don't. They may even be enemies of each other.

Samantha, a 6 year old cute baby which is mature than her age and stood as a supporter to her father after the death of her mother.
Tony, an inspector by profession who was just recovering from his wife's premature death due to cancer.
Both the lives changed forever when Samantha goes missing from the backyard of her own house.
The search teams are set out but their efforts goes in vain when they couldn't find the child. Later after 3 days, samantha is found dead in the woods who was tortured and raped brutally.
For Tony when all the reasons to live are snatched from him, he has left with only one reason to kill the murderer of his daughter. when every clue turns to dead end Tony goes into depression day by day not being able to accept the fact that the killer is still roaming freely.

The story becomes gripping when Tony decide to follow the procedure that are used in solving other similar cases and then he comes across with a case that took place 15 years ago, because the similarities are just very hard to neglect.
Tony is headed towards dark forest with a small candle called similarities which can be meaningless or can reveal something big that was unnoticed for decades.
Does Tony can ever be able to solve the mystery related to the similarities?

What I liked the most about this story are ;
⏩The emotions are brought out very well.
⏩True friendship is narrated through the characters Arvind and Parvez.
⏩Probably the first suspense story where I hated the killer right from the beginning but felt pity at the end.

Language is easy to understand.
Narration was lucid.
The story is gripping and literally unputdownable once Tony reaches chennai.
Readers can easily connect to Tony's pain whenever there was a narration about Samantha.
Title might sound like a romantic story but the book cover in which the innocent eyes are designed it totally relates to the story.
I found a great message through the story and that is -"Humanity and Forgiveness is always important than revenge".
Strongly recommended to everyone

❤Some stories become our own and stay in our hearts forever. Book "Lost without her" leaves a strong impact on your mind and you get completely involved in the story.
.
❤Book begins with a kidnap of a six year old daughter(Samantha) of a police inspector Anthony George. This kind of crime was not expected at Marsti (a small and peaceful town near Tamil Nadu). It was later found that Samantha was raped and then brutally murdered.
.
❤Anthony's world shattered in a moment as his daughter was the only streak of happiness in his life after his wife's death. He was not able to come to terms to the fact that he being a cop was not able to save his daughter.
.
❤He started the investigation and left no stone unturned to find his daughter's killer. Despite of all the efforts.. Every lead he found led him to a dead end. He began to lose his temper and had uncontrollable emotions. Eventually he got suspended for few days. His life began to come to a vacuum and was completely" lost without her"(daughter?
.
❤With the help of his friend Arvind.. He again found hope to begin his search for the killer but this time unofficially. He tracked down some murders from around a last decade which had the same pattern as his daughter's murder. As he began to invade more.. Multiple secrets got revealed and was known that the killer is from his own office.
.
❤Who is the killer? What is the connection between the murders that Anthony found from the past and his daughter's? Read the book and find the answers 😊
.
❤Kudos to the author for writing such a heart wrenching story in a powerful manner.

At the first impression, the title gives an idea of a love story. But now it is very hard to figure out a love story by merely reading the title. This story is bent toward the relation of Father and Daughter. The story is about the inspector who is set to avenge kidnapper of his daughter.
In this journey of crime and tumultuous emotions, the author has very well knitted the beautiful elements of love, anger, and fear. The book not so well but at a good extent represents the emotions.
The good length of 200+ pages is achieved by the base of good narration and simply beautiful story-telling. Both the elements are accompanied by the well-imagined journey, both lovely and terrifying.
The author has done a wonderful job in creating a beautiful story which leaves its trace on the reader's heart but some parts of the story which seem to be so long that we wish “When will it end”. It is not a good thing. Because if the mind losses its interest in the book then there is a probability that the book will be back on the shelf and someday will be uploaded as “Did not finish”.
Comparatively, it is not a short read so it should be gripping, though with a fast pace it somewhat achieves that target but fails to please a good segment of readers who desire for some exaggeration. With plain and monotonous storytelling at some point, the story felt mundane. Afterward, it caught the pace back but I guess it’s a little late.
The amalgamation of love, crime, and suspense the three very interesting elements of the story provides a great backbone. With the simple storytelling, some might feel it not much interesting but narration style compensates that and still, there’s a broad range of readers who’ll be willingly looking for the book. It is more like a GOOD BOOK which entertains us, but it stays right there at the bottom of the heart. Some more efforts are required.

This book is a work of fiction as well as thriller. The name will make you think about the romance genre but when you read through it, you wouldn't want to stop until you finish it. I would like to thank author Pournima Navani for sharing with us such a thrilling yet beautiful heart touching story with us. This novel is about a place called Marsti in South India, A place where there was peace and then after an incident with Police officer Anthony George and his daughter Samantha, revealed all the hidden chaos on Marsti.

The plot is so true to the real-world happenings that your heart goes out to the characters in this emotional, suspense thriller. The story is about a small-town cop, Tony who is out to investigate and avenge the kidnapping, abuse and murder of his 6-year-old daughter Sam. The writing is so good that the traumatic events described will make your heart cry as you empathize with the emotions of a helpless father who despite all efforts seem to be heading towards dead ends. The story also unravels many other secrets of the society which instill anger and sadness while you read.

title gives a flavour of romance , but there's not only the romance but also a thrill.
This is actually a story of love but not as a typical Love Stories which revolves around a romantic couple. it's a love story of father and daughter so the title is "Lost without her" So title is not out of context because father - daughter love is the perfect love in the World.

Overall, really recommended!

Lost without her by Pournima Navani
.
.
Foreword .
Absolutely awesome read. Period.
The cover of the book is catchy. Color scheme is appealing and bright and the title is in keeping with the story though it might hint at a romantic content, no?? .
About the book:
This one captures you right from the start. The author, without dilly dallying , chooses to directly hit on the story which starts with the kidnapping of a little girl, which in my opinion is just perfect.
What ensues is a bit of a shocker that not only is the little girl, Sam, lured away from her own house in broad daylight by a seemingly known person, but found molested and dead few days later.
So, there is all that content that make for a perfect thriller and more.. The story continues when the inspector father sifts through a known pile of people seeking possibilities and reaching the veritable dead end. Yes. Perfect still.
Further into the book is when the father goes about solving the crime in the most unexpected way and When the perpetrator turns out to be the most unexpected person, one sighs and smiles with contented relief. Just one of those things a good thriller does to you.. Highly recommended, must read
.
.
Takeaway :
Undoubtedly the perfect thriller but also coupled with a strong social message which gets one thinking about serious issues like early Child Abuse , the horrific repercussions and how it can ruin lives completely. Bone Chilling thought. .

Lost Without her
Author - Pournima Navani

The plot revolves around a little girl, who goes missing and her father's surge for her .
She is soon found out to be murdered and yes raped too , a little seven year old girl's death in such a traumatic way and Turmoil of his father and the anger to find the killer/criminal takes him on a dark journey.

The story is set in chennai and the father is an inspector, he uses all his energy to find out the killer of his happiness but what he finds is more shocking and a depressing truth. He tries all the way to find out but the truth lies somewhere in someone's past.

The characters are strongly written. Although there are many side characters they justified to the plot. The psychology of the characters is deeply complex and it makes the reader just read till the end to find out why?

Throughout the book it's just impossible to predict what next page will hold.

The subplots of the book simultaneously talk about many dark truths and complexities and gives expression to those of depression, mental disorders, child abuse, molestation rape.

The first half of the book is really emotional but in the second half, the fast pace that it catches and the formation of the plot gets so complex it becomes suffocating for the reader to read but yet undownputable.

The research done is commendable, the narrative just keeps the reader hooked

It's a super fast paced crime thriller which you should definitely be reading.

A book that will definitely stir your emotions!

I knew I had to buy this book the minute I read the synopsis. Yet I am wondering what held me from reading it till now. Probably I knew within the first 10 pages that this isn’t a book that would allow me to sleep without finishing it. Due to a hectic schedule, I had to put it down but the beginning itself was so hard hitting that I couldn’t stay away for too long. I was not wrong. Such a wonderful way of captivating your interest, it is hard to believe that this is the authors debut release! She has penned it like a pro!!

I must say that I loved the ending of the book which really was totally unexpected! What a fantastic way to end a fantastic book! Looking forward to many more from this talented writer and story teller. Kudos Pournima!!

🌸It's a story of a police inspector Anthony George whose life turns upside down when her six year old daughter, Sam is kidnapped. Eventually, she is found dead, left in the woods abused and raped. Anthony is devastated as his only family, her daughter is murdered that too brutally. 🌸⁣

🌸His search for the murderer leads him to Chennai, Bangalore and Tiruchirapalli unearthing secrets and crimes that took place fifteen years ago. At times, he feels frustrated and lost. Will he able to find the murderer and what about other crimes, are they related to her daughter's murder? All these questions will be answered in the book.🌸⁣

🌸Initially, I thought it's a love story as the title suggests so but it's a murder mystery expressing the feelings of a father lost without her daughter. The story is fast paced considering it's a suspense thriller. I really liked how the characters were developed and like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, the mystery was solved.🌸⁣

🌸The story also deals with child abuse and rape. It states what trauma a person goes through after being raped or abused. I was apprehensive before picking this book because I haven't read much of indian suspense thrillers but this turned out to be different. I loved the ending too. My rating is 4.5/5. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.🌸

Book : Lost Without Her⁣

Author: Pournima Navani⁣

📕 This is not a romantic novel as the title suggests, but a crime mystery novel with lots of twists and thrillers.⁣

📕 The book is an enticing one where The Inspector Anthony George has set out to avenge his six year old daughter. ⁣

📕 His daughter was kidnapped from his own backyard and was later abused and murdered. ⁣

📕 As any father would do, he made all his efforts to save and find his daughter. He lost his everything to get back his lovely daughter. ⁣

📕 The book includes a beautiful description of South India, with Marsti being the epitome of peace, a small town. The town which was once the most peaceful place turned into full of skeletons and crime all over the place. ⁣

📕 The search of the father doesn’t stop and discovers the previous cases. The narration is beautiful with events going on just in front of my eyes. ⁣

📕 The language is also easy. The cover depicts the story. Flip through the pages to go through the Soul scorching tale.⁣

📕 Discover a father’s love for his daughter and read the trauma he goes through. ⁣

📕 Children are really innocent. We must teach them never to trust any strangers, even if they seem or show that they are familiar to them or their family. ⁣

I started reading this book ' LOST WITHOUT HER ' by Miss POURNIMA NAVANI, I only have one thing to say about this book , that it make you go through the mental agony of a victim of child abuse and rape and how that poor child tries to avoid it . The trauma of a father loseing his daughter and haveing nothing left to live for except for finding and catching killer of his daughter. This book took me through a roller coster of emotions and questions. It took me from the questions of WHO did it ? to HOW it was done ?and to WHY it was done ? with the final answer leaving me into tears and pain , pain of feelings of those who have gone through the same traumatic incidents.one thing that i liked the most , other than the story itself, was the use of simple language with with elaborative words that really make me feel the emotion behind the dialogue. I salute miss POURNIMA NAVANI on her writing such an amazing book and would urge my fellow readers and book enthusiasts to buy this book and read it and shareing it so that the message of this book ' LOST WITHOUT HER ' be spread not only in india but in foreign as well.

Lost without her by Pournima Navani.

A story of a father’s loneliness and trauma he faced after his daughter’s murder. The story follows Anthony George, a senior inspector, who found his six-year-old daughter gets kidnapped and murdered. The little girl was viciously abused and went through various racks before being killing. Anthony spent all his days and nights in the inquiry and searching for the culprit, his search, takes him across Chennai, Bangalore, and Tiruchirappalli. While investigation he came across with similar cases and the dots were getting connected, which day by day was making him near the culprit.

Who was the culprit? What situation does Anthony face while finding the killer? What was the connection in all the cases?

A mind gripping and heart-touching murder mystery that will leave you with tears for the small girl and anger for the killer.

The cover page and the title of the book are very engaging.

The writing style of the author is admirable, and it will make you correlate with the characters.

[REVIEW]
This book is based on a place called Marsti in South India. This place was filled with peace and love. But things change when an accident occurs with Officer Anthony George and his daughter Samantha. This accident opens the door to chaos. The perfect place is not perfect anymore. Samantha is a victim to child abuse & murder, and her father is hell bent on finding the murderer. .
.
The book is great. The cover and title gives the impression that it is a romantic story, but it is no normal romantic story. It is a thriller and very true to the genre. The fact that it has father-daughter story makes it much more likeable. The writing is great and you feel everything through the words. The twist and turns are interesting. The ending was a great plus.
Overall I rated this book a 4/5 🌟

You read the title and think of a love story but no, it's more than that.

Anthony George's six-year-old daughter Samantha gets kidnapped and later on is found brutally abused and murdered. He is furious and is in search of the man behind this heinous crime. The story revolves around the investigation, led by Tony, of the same.

I was constantly up to, "What is going to happen next", "Who did this", "How ad this happened" state. The narration kept me curious till the end until I knew the answers to the above questions.

The book is a well-written mystery, crime and thriller piece. The storytelling is gripping with vivid and clear emotions. The author has set a broad and strong story that you feel engrossed in the book.

The cover could have been way better and attractive.

The blurb is catchy and will encourage you to pick the book up.

Aparantly by looking at the title one might feel it is a gooey Romantic book but when one starts reading it,  one will come across an unconditional love that a father and his daughter share along with myriad of emotions as this book is a suspense thriller.

The characters are very well developed.

I got hooked on to the book the moment I started reading it.

The author developed the feelings and trauma extremely well.

Narration and vocabulary are on point.

The best thing about the book is that it was totally unexpected.

A very well written, engaging read throughout. You can surely feel the pain, restlessness of Tony and want to accompany him in his search for the killer. And, what you find in the end, surely doesn't disappoint you.
A tale written from the heart! Loved it, especially how it ended! Keep writing, Pournima. 😊
