Touchdown

Rate this book
IT ALL STARTED WITH A TOWEL DROP.

"...that’s one of the reasons I became a sports reporter—so I could run into the men’s locker rooms and see them walk around in the buff. I’m not kidding. I accidentally walked into the boy's locker room in my freshman year in high school to see all the seniors naked. It was a defining moment in my life. It was then I decided what I’d do for a living. My calling."

Lexi Driver is EAN's top sportscaster, but when she makes the mistake of humiliating quarterback Brett Brock on national television, Brett Brock demands an apology.  Lexi would apologize...if she could find something to feel sorry about.

Touchdown is a standalone romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger. It's part of a series called The Big Apple.

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Lexi is a sports reporter. She is the lucky girl who goes into the locker room to talk to the football players. During one of these interviews, one of the players, Brett Brock, drops his towel. And it is caught on camera. Everyone blames Lexi.
Brett feels humiliated. And Lexi refuses to apologize. So, he decides to ruin her career as a revenge.
I liked the story. I thought it was going to be the typical sports novel. But I loved the way the writer focus on the situation some women go through in their jobs. Why is everybody blaming Lexi and not the camera man?

This is the first book I've read by this author (under either name) and I was expecting a cliche "flimsy" sports romance. It exceeded my expectations to such a level that I will gifting a copy to a dear friend of mine (book nerds unite!).

I enjoyed everything about this book. It was well thought out, never rushed to get to a scene. It has a strong beginning, middle and end and I appreciated the epilogue.

The characters were dimensional and human. The book was written in such a way that sometimes I was expecting a right turn and it took a left. It held my interest from beginning to end.

This book was NOT a Hail Mary pass. It was a well practiced "play" (football analogy that I hope I used correctly).

I absolutely recommend this book.

Holy hotness! Touchdown starts off with a bang and continues to deliver a fast-paced story with plenty of drama, sex and angst.

Lexi is a sports reporter at the top of her game. She is wary of players, both on and off the field, having first hand experience of the downfalls of mixing business with pleasure. Brett is a NY quarterback who, at first, seems to be interested in Lexi for the wrong reasons. I was soon to warm to him though, enjoying the progression of the pair's chemistry. I liked how the characters developed. As a reader we are able to learn about the real Lexi and Brett in much the same way as they are discovering each other; their real personalities revealed rather than the public image celebrity creates.

Being from a non-US country, I enjoyed the American football culture and feel Touchdown explores. I felt connected to the hype and love for the game.

Touchdown had some unexpected plot twists and witty dialogue making it an interesting, well written story. I will definitely be finding more books by this author to add to my reading list!

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance is the first book in The Big Apple Series by Alexa Summers and A.J Phoenix. This story is a great sports romance full of suspense, dramatic events, and surprising developments. I really enjoyed the story, particularly the quirky, complex and interesting characters. They really made the story come alive and gave it extra depth, emotion, fun, romance and tension. There were characters I loved, and characters I loved to hate. You will know what I mean when you read all the details for yourself. This was my first read by these authors, and I am happy to say that it definitely won’t be my last.
Lexi Driver is a popular reporter for a local Sports Channel. She loves her job and is very good at it. But things go awry when she gets caught up in a locker room scandal that leaves her hot under the collar, in more ways than one- with an embarrassed and highly annoyed footballer to contend with.
Brett Brock has wanted to make a name for himself in football, but gaining attention by having his manhood broadcast for everyone to see had never factored into his plans- he had wanted his skills on the field to be noticed and appreciated, so being humiliated on live television was definitely not what he’d had in mind. He’s determined to get a little payback and give Lexi a dose of her own medicine. But as he puts his plans in motion, he discovers that they are a lot more compatible than just intense chemistry.
But there seems to be someone hell bent on destroying not only their happiness, but also their careers. Little do either of them expect to get caught up in an even bigger scandal that puts everything they had built in serious jeopardy. What ensues definitely challenges them on many levels while they navigate the fallout from the plots and dastardly deeds.
This book was a great read and I really liked taking this journey with Lexi and Brett. I am a little torn as to what to rate this book, because the first half of the book was an entertaining 4 star read, but the second half of the book was definitely a riveting 5 star read- so therein lies my dilemma.
If you love a great sports romance with quirky and relatable characters who take you on a fun and romantic read, then this is definitely the book for you!
I’m looking forward to more from these authors!

Thank you, Ms. Phoenix & Ms. Summers!

Touchdown is book one in the Big Apple series by Alexa Summers. My first time read from this author and it was a good one.

Lexi is a sports reporter, a job i absolutely envy, and she owns that. She catches Brett in an embarrassing situation and he wants a sorry. The back and forth banter was excellent, the sexual chemistry was explosive, their strong and battle ready personalities clashed spectacularly. It made for extremely entertaining reading. The whole storyline was fast paced, exciting and always full of drama and underhanding activities. Of the thrilling kind. Their coming together was steamy and raised the heart rate for sure.

I really liked Touchdown and am eager for more of this enticing series. 4 stars.

I was very kindly offered an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Holy hell! I just had to give it 5 stars!!!!

I'm just gonna put this out there that sports romances are NOT my thing! However, Touchdown absolutely blew me away.
The writing, the chemistry - just everything was perfect and together it made for one heck of an addictive story. I read this in one sitting as I could not put it down. It was fast paced and filled with lots of sex, angst and a whole lot of drama.

It was so well written, the author's writing style seemed to flow effortlessly, drawing me in to this story.

The complex characters were well developed and seemed to breathe life into an already great story and gave it an added depth.

I loved every word!

It is a breezy read; great to just unwind with all the sexy times in the book. I like that the football jargon is not too much since I am not a big fan of football, just of the really ripped guys in football like Lexi :)

It's a semi-slow burn to the relationship and I much prefer that over the insta-love that seems to keep popping up in books these days.

While Lexi has an ulterior motive to want to be a sports journalist; it is obvious that she is dedicated and worked really hard to get to where she is today. Perks of the job is just that, perks :)

Brett, on the other hand, is trying to make his name on the team and stop warming the bench. What started out as a revenge slowly became something so much more to both of them, before the storm comes.

The question is, how much will this storm damage? And will they come out of it stronger or just beaten down.

This book filled every expectation I had for a sports drama romance. It is filled with ambitious women in sports journalism trying to one up the other in order to gain favoritism. There is drama, suspense, mystery, envy, jealousy, bitterness, vengeance, retaliation, manipulation, misinformation, honesty, contentment, happiness and romance. Lexi is a sports broadcaster. In a field predominately held by men, she has worked her way up the corporate ladder with hard work, good ethics, incorporating a fan base, considerate at interviews, hard hitting questions of her own and from her fan base. Her co-worker Jade is trying to usurp Lexi from the top spot and will do it by any means necessary. While interviewing a player, Lexi accidentally sees Brett having a wardrobe malfunction. The camera pans in the direction of her gaze and captures Brett in is full glory. The news piece goes viral. Jade accuses Lexi of wanting to boost her career now that she is getting older and the station will be wanting younger fresher faces. Of course, Lexi had nothing to do with Brett being on camera. It was the Mike, the cameraman who instigated the shot. There was negative backlash for both Lexi and Brett and very little positive feedback on the incident. When it died down, Brett told his agent Hal, that he wanted an apology from Lexi. Lexi felt she did not owe him one and never offered it. Brett decided to get even. He designed a plan to humiliate Lexi as much as she humiliated him. Some of the female characters in this book are vindictive b#tches. We have Jade, the cutthroat unethical junior sports reporter, we have Izzy, Brett's unhinged ex-girlfriend and runway model, we have Shonda a refreshingly young ethical junior sports reporter from another station, we have Clarissa, Lexi's pot smoking neighbor, artist and friend, we have Anne, Lexi's creative and talented agent who is also her friend and we have Dana and Elena, Brett's mother and sister. For the male characters we have of course Brett, who currently is second string untested quarterback for the Blazers, we have Dion, the quarterback for the Blazers, who is unfaithful to his wife, hates interviews has the backing of his team but not their complete respect, we have Hal, Brett's intelligent dynamic agent, Steve, Lexi's unscrupulous station manager. With a cast of players like this is it any wonder that the author was able to take the story in different imaginative directions? I cannot stress enough that this is a must read. There is so much drama in this story. I could not help but be drawn into it. Even though Lexi and Brett's relationship started as a deception, it ended up in a wonderful romance. This is an excellent read. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I absolutely loved this novel! There are so many reasons why, I don’t know where to start either! I guess I will start with a bit of a disclaimer. I am a sucker for football romances. Always have been. Maybe it is that football season also reminds me of cozy blankets, hoodies, coffee, and bonfires. It is when magical things start to happen. I.E. my favorite time of year. Another reason I adored this book is because this is the first in a series, The Big Apple Series, so there will be more!! At least one more reason… these are both new authors to me, and now they are one-clicks for me. I will have some more TBR to be adding to my list. (Because you know we all need more LOL)

All that said, this was such a fun storyline to follow as well, with several different layers to keep you engaged and on your toes from beginning
to end. Lexi Driver, one of my favorite female MC’s this year, was so fun to read. She is quite a complex character with her history. She has started to overcome it, but things start to creep back up and haunt her again when things get messy with her now successful profession, a sportsman reporter.

It is while doing a report that she finds herself wrapped up in a locker room mess and in the path of one ticked off and handsome football player, Brett Brock. I liked Brett, although not at first. It was a bit of, he had to grow on me. That was all part of the charm of the story though. Anyway, Brett is caught with his balls, rather than his football skills, (pun intended LOL) on the screen for the free world to see. This obviously gets under his skin and sets him on a mission to get some revenge of sorts. During this mission though he starts to discover that there may be more to them than just a physical attraction. These two may actually have the makings of soulmates. But not everything is what it seems and just when you think they will be on the road to the expected happily ever after things start happening. What will happen between these two? For that you will just have to one-click and find out for yourself. I can’t bare to divulge anymore that that! Happy reading, and thank you ladies for a wonderful read! I can’t wait for the next one!

*ARC READER'S HONEST REVIEW*
(Light spoilers ahead)

I was lucky enough to be chosen to be an arc reader for this book. If you've read A.J. Phoenix historical romance and expect this books tone to mirror it, girl you got it all wrong! For me this book is really different from her first three, writing style, characters' personality and all.

I really like Lexi. She's sassy, bold, and has lady balls compared to the typical woe is me or innocent leading lady. She's not the type who is jaded with life as well, she's just cautious and knows what she wants and how to get it. As for Brett, well let's just say that he's different too when you compare him to other athletic male characters you've read. He's not the bad boy or the mysterious guy who got beaten by a personal problem in life. He's just... Brett.

Besides the refreshing characters, this book is a slow burn for me. emphasis on SLOW BURN. (Nothing bad with slow burn books, FYI.) They don't hit off with an off the charts chemistry or even a lusty affair (sorry ladies). Did their first sexual encounter happened out of lust? Yeah (and other reasons), but the others after that you could already see the emotional build up. I really like the fact that this was not a re/discovery of Lexi's sexuality or something like trying to be kinky. Its a boy meets girl situation, whom happened to like having lots of bed gymnastics with the guy.

I'd like to classify this as a chicklit with LOTS of explicit scenes, not erotica. What I struggle to like about this book is the ending. I'm a fan of not open endings, but that's just a personal preference. Would the second book of this series be about Lexi and Brett? The answer is no (the author was kind enough to answer that when I asked), hence my struggle with it. Don't get me wrong, its not a horrible ending. Scouts' honor. But I would definitely recommend this book to you ladies! It's a great and fun read :)

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance: The Big Apple Series Book 1
By Alexa Summers
4 Stars

I love to read all types of romance books. Paranormal, Erotica, Contemporary but I will admit that I have not fully dipped into the sports drama genre yet. So, I didn’t know what to expect from this story. But I will happily say that I was surprised and happy to have picked up this gem. Alexa Summers delivers a solid TOUCHDOWN (get the play on words, lol) with this book.

Lexi Driver loves being a sportscaster. I mean to hear Lexi tell it who wouldn’t? You get to be in the locker room with hot guys in all their glory. But being on top isn’t easy. Sportscasters have generally been men and making sure she stays on top Lexi does whatever it takes. Even if that means using a clip of backup quarterback Brett Brock accidental towel drop. Now Brett is asking for an apology. Too bad Lexi doesn’t feel like giving one!

Brett Brock can’t believe what happened! What slip and now the whole world has seen him in all his glory. Mistakes happen and the only thing that Brett wants is an apology from the stubborn reporter. But she doesn’t feel she should apologize. Can Brett show her the error of her ways? Or will Lexi’s stubbornness and drive sink both their careers?

Touchdown checked off a lot of boxes for this romance reader. I enjoyed the chemistry and romance buildup between the main characters. I enjoyed the quirkiness and sometimes comic relief provided by the secondary characters. Although the book seemed a little predictive, Ms. Summers was able to add enough meat in the book to keep it interesting and enjoyable. Highly entertaining interspersed with moments of drama, suspense and of course the steamy scenes make this a good read. I will be on the lookout for the next book in this series.

Every time Lexi Driver wanders into a locker room she half expects to witness some nudity, it of course comes with the territory of being a sports reporter, but nothing could have prepared her for what she witnessed today... sexy back-up quarterback Brett Brock's package on full display. And of course it just so happen to wind up on live television since she was conducting an interview with another player, and when the towel fell from Brett's waist Lexi's approval of what was behind the towel fell right out of her mouth, instead of remaining in the confines of her dirty mind.

Now her little slip has landed her on the front page of the papers, and in hot water with the network... as well as Mr. Sexy himself Brett Brock. Her boss is ordering her to make amends with Brett, apologize for their little locker room mishap, or else her job could be in jeopardy. Which leaves her more than a little peeved, since it really wasn't her fault... or was it?

Touchdown is a sexy little page turner that delivers on many fronts; there's heated banter to make you giggle, steamy encounters to make you swoon, and lots of drama to keep you enthralled from start to finish! I thoroughly enjoyed this first time read, the writing was easy to fall into and enjoy, the characters had great chemistry that kept things consistently hot, and of course there was also plenty of emotion to tug on the heartstrings too. I am certain this one will be a hit with sports romance fans, it has everything you could want in a story and much more!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

AJ Phoenix aka Alexa Summers has done it again! Every time I read one of her books my sleep time decreases because I just can't stop reading! As a huge fan of her Maid for Majesty series, I was so excited when I found out she was coming out with Touchdown. I've read quite a few sport romances and this has got to be one of my favorites. Not being a huge sports fan myself, sometimes I don't get the sport references in books. I didn't have any problem with Touchdown. I also loved getting to read about Lexi's job as a sports reporter. In fact I quite enjoyed the moments "behind the scene" where we see how Lexi prepares for her interviews. It makes me think, maybe I should've of gone into sports reporting ;P I requested an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lexi was a great character. Not only is she gorgeous, but she's smart, hardworking, and good at her job. I loved how she was able to hold her own in the industry and make her way to the top without having to resort to underhanded methods. Now introduce sexy quarterback Brett Brock into the mix and the heat starts to turn up. While they started off on the wrong foot, their chemistry quickly builds up! Once I started reading I couldn't stop. I just had to know what happened next. I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends! Touchdown had everything I could've wanted in a story and more. I can't wait to read what Alexa Summers writes next!

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance by Alexa Summers and AJ Phoenix is the first book in her Big Apple Series and what a way to start a series. From the very beginning this book got under my skin and I couldn’t read it fast enough. Following the story of Lexi Driver and Brett Brock, the chemistry between these two was palpable from their first meeting. Lexi Driver follows her name with her driven attitude and passion to be the best in her field really made her a fantastic character to get to know. Brett Brock is a first-time quarterback and is finally getting his chance to shine on the big stage. Meeting for the first time during a slipped towel incident in the locker room, to say it was a rocky start is putting it lightly. Will these two be able to work together, create magic together; or will their rocky start make them quit before they even begin? Or will the heat between these two bind them together into something so great that they won’t know what to do without each other. Having read several of Summers books, as well as her alter ego Phoenix, in the past; I knew picking this book up I was going to love this. The heat, banter, and burgeoning friendship made this a fantastic read. If you are looking for a read that will not only knock your socks off but warm your heart than this is the story for you. I can’t wait to see where this series goes, but I know that I can’t wait to read each new book.

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance is Book 1 in The Big Apple Series From author Alexa Summers.
This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to see what else she brings to this series and what other reads she has. Alexa Summers has created a read that is entertaining, funny, sexy, steamy & just an amazing read from the get-go.

Lexi has a job all women probably wished they had, interviewing sports stars from the Locker rooms, which means catching some of the stars just off the pitch! But what she never expects in one of her usual interviews is for a wardrobe malfunction to happen to backup quarterback Brett Brock live on T.V which then causes her and Brett into the limelight.
To read Lexi and Brett’s journey through this book was so enjoyable, there was quite a few things about this read that had me laughing out loud, but there was also times that this book made me frustrated just by the actions from Brett. But none of the less, I really do think Brett & Lexi have a great relationship they had banter with each other but I don’t think they were actually aware of how great they could be with each other even with their love/hate relationship but the build up of it caused a steamy release for the both of them!

This was a brilliant read from start to finish and one that shouldn’t be missed! I can’t wait to see what else is to come to this series, until then this one shouldn’t be missed!

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance is the first book in The Big Apple Series by Alexa Summers. I had never read anything by this author and if this book is anything to go by, I’ll be sure to read more as this is a fantastic book.
This book is well written and has great believable characters. Lexi Driver is an ambitious sports journalist at the top of her field in what is usually a male dominated world. Unlike other females in the same role, she got to where she was by damn hard work and being good at her job and not by offering sexual services to move up the ladder.
Brett Brock is a quarterback who has been playing second string to top player Dion but when Dion gets injured, Brett finally gets to show just how damn good a player he is.
When interviewing Dion in the locker room, Brett’s towel falls giving Lexi more than an eyeful. Unfortunately her cameraman turns and Brett’s crown jewels are shown on live tv for all to see. Brett is furious and is determined to bring down Lexi. However, what he didn’t foresee was that spending time with Lexi would result in him falling for her.
This is a fantastic story which keeps you gripped from the beginning right through to the very end. It also has a lot of humour, the banter between Lexi and Brett is hysterical at times. I would definitely recommend this book to those who like a steamy, funny romance.

Touchdown was a hot 5 star read and book one in The Big Apple series.

Lexi is a sports reporter who gets to see it all when she goes into the locker rooms after games, and I mean all. She is one of the best interviewers in the business. While in the locker room there is a towel malfunction and live TV gets a full view of Brett the hot quarterback.

Wanting an apology from Lexi thinking that she planned the whole incident, Brett doesn’t get it so he has another plan. In the meantime he and Lexi have some very hot and steamy moments and spend more time together. Things start to take a turn for Brett and he is developing feelings for Lexi.

There is a huge twist that changes everything very quickly. Will these two be able to get past it?

This was a great story that has hot scenes, jealous exes and co-workers and so much more. I loved all of the secondary characters with the exception of Izzy and Jade. They were on my hate list. I had several LOL moments, especially when Lexi was in the locker rooms, loved her thoughts. This is my first read from this author and I loved it, I was pulled right in from the beginning and couldn’t stop until I was done. I look forward to reading more from this series.

Touchdown is the first novel in the Big Apple series by Alexa Summers. This is my first novel by this author.

Lexi Driver is a sportscaster who is very well liked by her fan based and has climbed the ladder in an occupation predominantly held by men.

While interviewing a player, she catches Brett Brock in a midst of a wardrobe malfunction which goes viral.

With the incident hurting both of their careers, some reactions are positive.

After the news dies down, Brett wants an apology but Lexi doesn’t she how she is at fault when it was the cameraman that looked in that direction. To retaliate, Brett makes plans to humiliate her.

I really enjoyed the sports romance which is genre of romance I don’t read much and each time I do, I always wonder why I don’t read it more often.

Lexi was very well written and relatable character who has made a name for herself in a field that women don’t get into often.

Lexi and Brett relationship started with humiliation and dislike but ended with a great romance and I love stories like that. Where I can read the progression of the relationship and what makes the characters start to warm up to each other.

There was vast amount of characters and I hope we see them again with their own novel.

What a way to start a series! I’m generally a sucker for any books involving hot athletes but Alexa Summers did an awesome job with Touchdown, which is the first book in The Big Apple Series. Lexi is one of the top sports reporters in New York. Brett is an NFL quarterback that is about to hit it big and be able to show what he’s got when the leading quarterback gets injured. A little scandal takes place in the locker room after one of the games and Lexi isn’t apologizing for it! Brett initially wants to get back at her but ends up creating a “deal” with her. Things definitely get hot and heavy when they both realize they want each other more than their deal. The author wrote this book well. I felt like I was a part of the story line. There is tons of wit so you will be laughing quite often. There is also tons of intrigue and twists and turns. Of course there is always the psycho chick that needs to be taken down! The sexy scenes were scorching hot! I thoroughly enjoyed those, I’m not going to lie! It was also very nice to see that there are jocks who are actually intelligent and cultured. This book was such a page turner that I couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! I hope it was just as good as this one!

The story Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance: The Big Apple Series Book 1 by Alexa Summers is a romance book that I loved reading. It had me hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the last page. It has the wonderful characters of Lexi Driver and Brett Brock that I loved reading about. I love the Lexi is so driven and passionate about what she does. Brett is a quarterback and is getting his chance to shine. These two don’t start out very well after a humiliating event in the locker room. Will Lexi apologize to Brett as he is demanding? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what happens next. I enjoyed reading about the way that Lexi and Brett banter and interact with each other. There is definitely heat between these two. There are some steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. This is a wonderfully written story that is a pleasure to read. It is a book I would highly recommend.

Touchdown is the second sports romance I’ve read and the first title I’ve read by this particular author. I was drawn to the book by the humor and honesty in the synopsis. One of the reasons Lexi became a sports journalist was to get into the men’s locker rooms? How can this book not provide entertainment?
Touchdown did meet all of my expectations, while it wasn’t as fast paced as I’m used to it had a little bit of everything to keep my interest. There was the classic element of jealousy that comes with women, especially in a competitive work environment, there was romance, there were steamy encounters, drama, the list goes on.
One of the things I most liked about this story was Lexi’s character, she was witty and charismatic which I loved but what’s best is that her success in her field is authentic proving her to be a strong female lead and I truly like that in my romance novels.
Touchdown was a fun read that I truly enjoyed, I am looking forward to more from Alexa Summers.

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance: The Big Apple Series Book 1 by Alexa Summers and Aj Phoenix

Four Stars

This story had me in fits of laughter. Lexi is a goldmine. She was so honest about the reason behind her career choice. Honestly that sounds like a awful job seeing all those hot athletes in their birthday suits said no woman ever. Lol. I didn’t like the way Brett went about his revenge. Plus he never told Lexi. This story is perfect for a smooth read. Something you can sit down and enjoy without feeling like your wasting your time. The relationship between the characters was only tarnished by the secrets. They seemed real and perfect for each other. It’s crazy how our emotions drive us to do things we never would normally. For all intents and purposes Brett was a good guy he just got caught up in a foolish plot for revenge. Lexi was so vulnerable even though she portrayed such an outgoing and carefree persona. I felt like I glided through this story. It was very well written. Will most definitely check out more books from this author.

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance: The Big Apple Series Book 1

I do love a good sports romance story so I was really looking forward to reading this one. It was one of those hard to put down stories and ok maybe it was a little predictable but I was still wrapped up in Lexi and Brett’s story. I loved the connection they had even if they didn’t know it! I loved the love/hate relationship and the banter they had between them.
I really liked Lexi, her job was obviously really important to her (got to be honest I would love her job) she was hard working, passionate and very driven. I loved that she wasn’t going to back down to Brett, I think the more he pushed her to apologise the less likely it was that she was going to! I think it was pretty obvious where the connection as going to lead with these two and it did lead to some pretty steamy moments!
I really liked the author’s easy going writing style, the story flowed well and I really enjoyed the characters. I would love to read more from her in the future.

What a fun and steamy story!

Touchdown, by Alexa Summers, is a fabulous rollercoaster ride. It’s full of drama, angst, and lots of steamy sex scenes.  The story centers on Lexi, who is a well-known sports reporter and Brett, the quarterback for a professional football team. Even though this is a sports romance, it’s really about a whole lot more. Touchdown was not a simple love story, and I especially loved that. There were several sub-plots, which focused on the drama that Lexi and Brett faced individually.

As the story progressed, I felt their emotions which added a little something extra to the book. The characters were well developed, and I thought Lexi and Brett had great chemistry.  Touchdown was complex and full of excitement, and I became completely absorbed.

A definite add to your TBR list!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this story about Lexi and Brett. He's a second string quarterback and she's a sports reporter. One day in the locker room, Lexi has a slip up and her camera man inadvertently gets a glimpse of Brett's package. He's mad thinking she did it on purpose and that is a publicity stunt. Demanding she apologized for the incident, Brett services to seek revenge on his own. Lexi is getting lots of grief, even her neighbor is using the to get advantage, putting in an art show all about men's packages. While he's trying to get dirt, he starts to develop feelings for Lexi. She is too buy it leery of athletes since she was embarrassed by one before. Great story with lots of Chemistry. Loved seeing the interactions between all the characters and how low people will go to get the story and one up someone.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A good sports story is what I like and this one doesn't disappoint, at all!

Lexi wanted to become a sport journalist because of the change of going into locker rooms and seeing the sportsmen naked.
What a good way to start wanting a job and she is good at it. But the time she is finally seeing one of her faves naked the camera man follows her eyes and Brett is exposed on TV. He doesn't like that and wants to get back at Lexi. While it wasn't her fault the camera man did it.

But what starts with wanting revenge turns into more, lots more.
First some very hot moments, because sparks (and more) fly everywhere.
But soon it turns into something more.

But of course it isn't all fun, with Brett loosing his phone with a video of them on it.
Somebody who is after Lexi her job and a nasty ex from Brett, there are fireworks and misunderstandings and a twist I didn't see coming.

When you are into a good sports book this is a story for you for sure.

Author Alexa Summers has written a great contemporary sports romance story. She's given us an amazing couple comprised of a strong woman sports journalist, Lexi and a second string quarterback, Brett. Once they begin seeing each other romantically, both are forced to undergo major transformations that impact their personal and professional lives.
I like this story because the author has kept Lexi true to herself throughout. It's not written like many romance authors do where the woman in the relationship gives up her profession to have the HEA. I am strongly recommending TOUCHDOWN for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. It was well developed and written. Everything flowed smoothly and I was caught off guard by the "who done it" revelation...which I enjoyed!

Touchdown: A Steamy Football Romance by Alexa Summers is the first book in The Big Apple series. This book is everything you can want from a sports romance.
Lexi is gray at her job. She knew she was going to be from the moment she walked into a boys locker room, saw what was beneath the towels and decided to become a sports presenter.
But when she takes it too far one day her current subject, Brock, demands an apology from her. And things can only go wrong when she doesn’t feel like she has anything to apologise for.

This book is fantastic. It was funny, entertaining as well as being steamy and captivating. Brock and Lexi have such great chemistry you can feel it coming off the pages as you read. This was a new author to me and I was blown away by how easily she grabbed and held my attention throughout. A brilliant book.
