Rate this book
Twenty-four year old school  teacher KATHRYN (KAT) DELANEY enjoys a comfortable and nondescript life, until events begin to crash down around her, beginning with the murder of her acutely secretive and over-protective father. His death triggers an investigation, which raises questions as to who he really was, and who she is.

Kat is determined to find the answer to her true identity, but the answers find her before she has a chance. Kat is thrown into the violent and chilling world from which her father had protected her all these years, and now she must fight for her life.

Kat's father was a wonderful dad who loved and protected his daughter, but he was never clear about his past. After Kat's father is killed, Kat is thrown into a mystery to find out what her father was hiding and who she really is.

This is a fast-paced read. The first part of the novel is a typical mystery, where someone is killed and an investigation into the death begins. Then things take a turn, and a wild adventure begins for Kat as she discovers more about her past. Kat is a young woman, working as a teacher, and living a normal life. She is a little spoiled by her father, but as the novel progresses she starts to take care of herself and become more independent.

An interesting mystery. Kat's search into her past leads to a wild experience with a variety of characters, including a former boyfriend turned PI, a crazy madman, and a fanatical cult. Suspenseful and exciting.

I received a free digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is an interesting novel with a detailed plot. The novel moved quickly and was often truly surprising. I like the title and the cover. My only complaint is that I wish the author had shown us a little bit of interaction between the main character and the victim before the victim’s death. Because their relationship is tied to the main issue in the novel I think it would have been interesting to see the characters interact just briefly (8 pages or less) in order to cement their relationship status (close/not close, loving/not loving) and to foreshadow the secrets that come out during the investigation. That being said, the author did a fantastic job of starting the story at the story – I hate when you read a book and you are 100 pages in before the main plot line starts. This is the first in a new series and I am interested to see where the characters go from here.

I received a free copy of this novel. The opinions in this review are honest and my own.

I was unexpectedly entertained by this read. This starts out at a relatively quiet pace and then...watch out...once the storm starts, it does not let up. Now I do have to say that some of the action gets a little over the top for me and that this particular plot line has been done multiple times but it was compelling enough to keep me reading to the end. I liked it so much that I immediately looked to see what the next book in the series was. Sadly, it doesn't appear that she has continued the story of Kat Delaney.

Nail biting

This is a well written nail biting mystery. I love how the author keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. She’s great at detail and making her readers able to picture what is going on. I was actually picturing everything as I read. I’m very much looking forward to reading future books about Kat Delaney.

Never-ending excitement!

The Dagger was an exciting read from beginning to end. I love how Kat grew as the story progressed. She went from a pampered (but nice) rich daddy's girl to an independent, strong woman. I will gladly recommend this book to my reader friends. Thanks, Pam, for giving us such a great story. I look forward to the next one.

This was a pretty good read, but I found myself getting lost with all the characters and the relationships to each other. But other than that, the plot was great and it was highly entertaining. Good read!

Author Pam Anders leads readers on a merry chase through the USA’s Pacific Northwest in The Dagger, her debut novel in the Kat Delaney series. From the forests of Idaho through Walla Walla, WA, towards Portland, OR, Kat’s grit and perseverance defeat a madman and a cult of incestuous monsters. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Great action and suspense.
