I knew going in that Nell’s story would be a interesting one...but I was pleasantly surprised to find such a connection with her! I always enjoy this Author’s books but this one just sucked me right in and I found myself once again immersed into the town of Hazel Green! With so many interesting people in this town I was already looking forward to future books in this series...but now with the introduction to Leo’s brothers and someone from Nell’s past, I can’t decide who I want next because I want them all!!! 5 stars from me are very rare...but this book kept my attention from beginning to end. I didn’t want it to end!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Small town story with lots of heart

If you like a good novel with a lot of depth and a great story this book is for you! I have been reading Cindy's book for about a year now. I used to turn to this type of story to fill the space between the heavy more serious books that I have a tendency to read. This author has changed my mind. This book, as well as the one before it, draws you in. The tale is great. The characters are so well developed that I found myself immersed in the story. I really wanted to know what was going to happen to these people and how the story would end. This book is worth the read! Now I'll get back to another series by Cindy Kirk that I am reading.

Nell Ambrose and Leo Pomeroy’s relationship intrigued me in One Fine Day, the first book in the Hazel Green series. I wondered why the attorney and the town mayor were having a secret relationship and when and how it would be revealed! Cindy Kirk brings the characters of Hazel Green to life with her descriptive voice and spot on dialogue. I adored Nell’s story and read it in one sitting.
Nell Ambrose is a child welfare attorney who enjoys bringing the character of Hazel Green, the town matriarch, to life at social events. Her make-up, wig and costumes transform Nell into her other persona who lived in the early 1900’s. I noticed that Nell shifts easily from Hazel to herself and she enjoys being someone else. Nell is a private person; Leo only knows a few vague details of Nell’s life before she came to Hazel Green. In contrast, Leo’s family life is an open book; he’s the mayor of Hazel Green and his father is a senator. He is used to being in the public eye. His life is an open book—Nell’s is not.
I loved reading Nell’s story. Cindy Kirk includes hints about Nell’s childhood throughout the novel and introduces her brother into the storyline seamlessly. As she falls in love with Leo, she tells him bits and pieces about her past. Nell realizes that she is in love with Leo and wants to open up to him but, she is keeping a secret or two from him. Nell and Leo decide to make their relationship public and they begin to attended social and political events together. Nell, Leo and Leo’s parents attend a town event where a photo of the four of them is posted on social media. Nell’s past is revealed because someone from her past recognizes her in the photo. Loved how Nell’s past connected to a present day scandalous political situation for the Pomeroy family. Many of the characters in the novel were impacted when Nell’s identity was revealed.
Cindy Kirk tackles several important issues in this novel; family values, secrets and trust. The reader gets a glimpse of political life and the importance of family from Marty and Tim Pomeroy. The secondary characters in the novel played important roles in Nell and Leo’s lives; each one added depth to the storyline. I am waiting to see what happens to Lilian, Marc and Dixon. Cindy Kirk’s descriptive writing and her honest dialogue makes her characters and their situations relatable. She is able to blend romance and political issues during the story. I was invested in Nell and Leo’s romance and knew he loved her without hesitation.
The suspenseful conclusion of One Step Away took me by surprise—in a good way. Loved the political intrigue piece of the story and its connection to many of the Hazel Green characters. Am looking forward to returning to Hazel Green soon!

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Waverly House for my unbiased opinion of the book. I loved this book!!!! The story is about Nell Ambrose and the secrets she's trying to hide. Her brother shows up in town while she's spending more time with the mayor Leo Pomeroy. She's happy with keeping both relationships a secret. One forces the other to be out in public. Leo wants to know who this guy she’s getting chummy with at the same time tired of having a relationship just based on sex. When Nell starts to trust herself and Leo more, sets things into motion she can't stop, and does she want to continue hiding? When push comes to shove Nell is forced to tell Leo and his family the truth about her past.... You will fall in love with the characters and the next instalment set in Hazel Green!

I have become a huge fan of Cindy Kirk’s writing and I think that One Step Away might be my favorite. This is the second book in a series but can be read on its own; which I really enjoy. What I liked about this novel is that there was a little suspense and intrigue into the back story of Nell and what she is keeping from Leo. I found myself so interested in finding out that I could not put the book down! I highly recommend this book; I’ve shared this title with a few of my friends and they are enjoying as well. I am excited for the next one.

I was really happy to return to the town of Hazel Green (and my thanks to the publisher for allowing me an advance copy of the book so that I could "return" early). The town has many interesting characters to explore, so I hope that I'll be able to go back for a book 3.

This book focuses on Nell Ambrose. We saw her occasionally in the previous book, and most of what stood out to me about her at that point is how she stayed in character as the town's "progenitor" Hazel Green. In this book, we get to learn about her difficult past, and of course we get to see her relationship with Leo grow. Some of the things I especially liked were how Nell and Leo tried to communicate about difficult issues, and the chemistry between them. I also liked Nell's female friendships and Leo's family.

Cornelia “Nell” Ambrose has finally left her past behind. Living in Hazel Green, becoming an attorney, and dating Mayor Leo Pomeroy has helped to create a life she’s proud of. That is, until a man from her past threatens to reveal secrets she’s not ready for everyone to know. With her brother and friends standing beside her, can she have the courage to face the enemy of her past?
This was another heartfelt romance from an author who astounds me with the magic of her words every time I read her work. I felt the main character was amazingly strong with the changes she made with her life. Letting people in can be one of the hardest things that as people we need to do. I love Leo’s connection with her, and even in the darkest hour, he has her back. I can’t wait until the next installment to this great series. Cindy Kirk is a genius at taking a reader into a small town and having us fall in love with the small town. The falling in love is all based on the wonderful, supportive and charming people who populate her small towns.

Cornelia “Nell” is an attorney who is an advocate in children's court. She also has a second career presenting programs disguised as Hazel Green. Hazel Green is the woman for whom the small town is named. She was a strong and powerful woman who was a mover and shaker, and Nell loves presenting herself as Hazel Green and teaching history.

Everything that Nell does is precise and measured. But, her careful personality now is based on hiding her past from her friends and acquaintances in town.

She has been having a purely physical relationship with Leo, the mayor of Hazel Green. He is from a political family. His father is a United States senator and his two brothers are realtors in town. The family is close knit but there are some tiny cracks in the foundation, just as there are in real families.

Leo is ready for the relationship to become deeper and more meaningful. Nell is concerned about her dark past doing damage to Leo and his family. She loves him and wants to protect him.

This book is about the relationship between Nell and Leo. But, even more than that, it is about families and the emotional ties that bind. There is also love among a circle of friends who care for one another and will support one another in every way possible.

This is the second book in a series, but it works as a stand alone read. I would suggest that if possible a reader would enjoy the series more if they also read the first book. Ms Kirk is good at putting the reader in the picture as far as characters and relationships.

Nell is a strong woman who is also very vulnerable. She is finding a sense of security and comfort in Leo and their relationship. Leo is smart, humorous, loving and tender. He is confident in his ability to deal with whatever comes along. And he loves Nell very much.

The secondary characters are well developed and add layers to the story. The plot is fast moving and interesting. This is a very well done book. Just as I would expect from Ms Kirk.

If you like contemporary stores about life, this is a book you will enjoy.

I received the book from the author. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.

I received and Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
Are you defined by your past? Or, is it possible to reinvent yourself? Should you be penalized by the actions of someone under the influence of an abusive parent?
Cornelia “Nell” Ambrose, has overcome a horrific childhood with a manipulative, abusive parent. She has reinvented herself, become a children’s advocate attorney, and has found her place in the small town of Hazel Green. She even serves as historical characters for town events. This is the story of Nell, and Leo, who is the mayor of Hazel Green, and their relationship. Both Leo and Nell started their relationship as more of a “booty call” type of relationship, but both begin to feel more than just physical attraction for each other. As they develop stronger feelings for one another and their relationship becomes public, Nell realizes that the demons from her past are at risk of coming to light.
This novel is the second of the “Hazel Green” series, and it begins with the wedding of the central characters of the first book. Somehow, I missed reading “One Fine Day”, which is the first novel. Because of this, I was a little confused at the beginning of this book and had to read chapter 1 more than once to orient myself to the characters. Once I was oriented to the characters and general idea of the story, I was hooked and had difficulty putting the book down. Cindy Kirk is not afraid to cover heavy topics, and in this novel, she examined what happens when children of a manipulative and abusive parent grow up and become adults. Sometimes they choose the same path. Sometimes they choose reinvention and work to defend and protect others who are in a vulnerable place.
Overall, I liked this book. It has a love story enmeshed within a story of reinvention and redemption. It also looks at the power of true friendship. I recommend this book!

Sometimes, the family YOU MAKE is far more precious than the family you are born into.

When I read One Fine Day, I was intrigued by Nell Ambrose - it always felt like she was holding herself at a distance from her friends in Hazel Green. Sure, she was there, but I always sensed that she was keeping a secret, and a big one at that.

Leo Pomeroy has always been upfront about how he feels for Nell. He is a "what you see is what you get" type of guy. He also belongs to a family that seems to be open, demonstrative and affectionate, albeit, with secrets of their own.

Seems like a match made in heaven, right? A union of polar opposites, if you will. Yes, the sparks do fly, but more than that, a deep and abiding love develops, inspite of Nell's resistance and reluctance. Just when things seem to be going well - ghosts of the past come back, and along with it, trials and the threat of heartache.

I loved how Cindy Kirk gave even more life to the vibrant and bustling community that is Hazel Green. I also loved how I got a bit more glimpses into the personalities that make up Nell and Leo's core group of friends and family. I LOVED reading about Eva Grace again - I sure hope we have noit seen the last of her.

At the core of this book is love and trust - with love comes the trust that there will always be someone backing you up, and being there for you; and that when you open yourself to the possibility of love, you gain so much more. I am not even talking about only romantic love here - its the love of friends; and more importantly, it is the love of friends who become family.

I cannot wait for more Hazel Green!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.

I was looking forward to reading this second book in the Hazel Green series and I did enjoy it, but not as much as the first one. It took me a while to get back into the Hazel Green way of life and remember who everyone was. Having said that I did enjoy reading the book and finding out more about Nell and Leo.

As I found out bits of information about Nell I knew it wasn't going to be straightforward for her and Leo, and it wasn't. Nell has a lot of baggage she is carrying around and consequently a lot of guilt as well. She has to find a way of living with her past so that she can enjoy her present and have a future.

When all is revealed towards the end of the book, it was all sorted out too easily and quickly for me. After all the big build up over 20 or so chapters, it only took 1 to 2 chapters to sort it out and everything was ok.

It feels unfinished and a bit random in places. We meet Dixon, her brother, suddenly but not everyone knows he is her brother. She tricks Stanley, then suddenly he's the bad guy. Leo's brother Matt keeps appearing and disappearing with no apparent explanation. Although Nell has done wrong in the past, as a juvenile, there are no consequences for her. Stanley is talked down, and takes all the blame, and is likened to Nell's mother, making him the bad guy.

I know that a lot of the content is setting up for future novels but parts of this book didn't work for me.

All in all, I did enjoy meeting Nell and Leo, and reading their story. I am also looking forward to finding out more about the residents of Hazel Green in future books.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. I enjoyed revisiting the town of Hazel Green. This is a quaint small town that is a place I would like to live. The book opened up with the marriage of Abbey and Jonah, whom we met in the first book of the series. It was great to revisit their relationship, although it was brief. Abbey had a few other small roles in One Step Away, but Jonah was really only mentioned by name. Given Nell's history, his role could have been expanded. In fact, it would have been nice to have both of those characters included a little bit more prominently in book two, but not so much that it took away from Leo and Nell's story. One thing I loved about the characters in this book was their maturity. Often, one party of a couple, when they learn of a detail from a sordid past, suddenly resort back to a high school mentality. In the instance of One Step Away, Leo maintained faith and trust in the woman he loved. Not only did he not pout and stomp his feet childishly, he coordinated efforts for his family to stand behind her. A very refreshing character trait, especially given his 30+ age! Overall, I though One Step Away was an improved story of residents from Hazel Green, compared to the first book in the series. I look forward to reading more about the town and the people who call it home. Perhaps Matilda is next?

Let me preface my review by saying I am a fan of Book Series' that follow a town and it's characters. I have read other series by Cindy Kirk and LOVE them. Unfortunately, this book and it's previous counterpart, fell flat for me. I enjoyed this book but a few negatives stand out:
1) There was a lot of "potential" in the characters and stories for development but the author decided rather to elaborate more on the décor of the buildings and the clothing.
2) The timing of describing the clothing/environment broke up the flow of the story and the connection the reader had with the characters and the situation.
3) To many sub-characters were introduced. I get that the author is setting up characters for future books, but there were to many to follow and it seemed to muddle the story and drag it down
4) It was difficult to follow who's perspective portions of the story are being told from - At one point the story is being told from one character's POV but you get a line from another character's inner thoughts - difficult to follow and keep the flow

Despite the negatives, I did enjoy meeting Nell and Leo, and reading their story. It was definitely not a lost weekend of reading!

I enjoyed Nell and Leo's story, although it was really more of Nell's story. Unlike some other reviewers, I felt that the focus on Nell's past was a refreshing take on Ms. Kirk's usual small-town romance novel. She has been hiding many secrets from her past for so long, that it is nice to see her find the redemption of love and friendship in Hazel Green. I did find it a bit hard to reconcile the fact that Nell's past would catch up to her in such a small town, and tie in to Leo's family drama at the exact time she is finally getting close to him. It's also hard to keep track of all of the side characters as there are so many, but their are some who promise to be quite interesting in future Hazel Green Stories.

I enjoyed the family dynamics between the Pomeroy brothers and found their interactions and conversations refreshingly realistic. I hope we get to see more of Matt, who really does seem like the black sheep of the family. I found myself feeling bad for him when they all kept forgetting about him or excluding him from major family conversations.

Overall, a nice addition to the Hazel Green series.

I couldn't put the book down! Honestly, Cindy Kirk hit a home run with book 2 in the Hazel Green series.

Cornelia Ambrose, aka Nell, is a prominent member of the city of Hazel Green. Nell, although quite by nature, allows herself to enjoy the spotlight when she is playing Hazel Green, one of the founding members of the city, at one of the many events throughout the year. Leo, the mayor of Hazel Green, and Nell have been having a covert relationship for months now. The relationship has been merely a physical relationship.

Since moving to Hazel Green, Nell has made some wonderful friends. Nell has a haunting past and wants to make sure none of her new friends find out about her past. One way to do this is to keep everyone at arm's length and never let them know who she truly was in her past.

With her feelings for Leo growing and someone from her past coming to town? Will she be able to hide her past or will she run away again and start a brand new life away from everyone that she has grown to love?

The story of Nell and Leo is the second in the Hazel Green series. In my opinion it works best when you read the first in the series, but One Step Away is easy to pick up even if you did not read the first book. Nell is measured, she thinks ahead, and she has worked tirelessly to create a well crafted life and keep most people at an arms length. She and town mayor, Leo, have a friends with benefits relationship but begin actually dating as they both realize how strong their feelings truly are.

The problem is that Nell has a past to hide and Leo's impeccable reputation, or that of his extended family, cannot take a scandal. This book was a great trip back to the quaint town of Hazel Green and I found myself enjoying it more than the One Fine Day (first book). The ties with family and the stresses and secrets we keep were well written and the characters fleshed out. Once again, Cindy Kirk, has brought us a slice of small town life, complete with meddling neighbors and truly great best friends. I definitely look forward to the next installment from Hazel Green.

Friends can make family. This is the second book in the Hazel Green series and came after One Fine Day. This can be read as a standalone but if you can I recommend you read the series in order to get to know all of the characters. The secondary characters add layers of depth to the story and I can’t wait to learn more about Lillian, Marc, and Dixon. Nell Ambrose is a child’s welfare attorney and Leo Pomeroy is from a a political family and the mayor of Hazel Green. Nell and Leo have a strictly sexual relationship but Leo wants more. They start having a relationship being boyfriend and girlfriend. Nell was afraid to get close to anyone after her tough childhood especially Leo because she doesn’t want to hurt his political future and family values, secrets and trust are important to Leo and his family. Friends and family are important and I love how Nell picks which friends she wants to be her family. What happens when Secret”s from Nell’s past comes out and will Leo stand by her? I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read another book in the series. I received an ARC from Cindy Kirk and volunteered to write the review which all opinions are completely my own.

I really liked this book! I enjoyed learning more about Nell and her background. Her childhood was traumatic and terrible, an abusive mother and forced into crimes she wanted no part of. She ran away and found a new life and a new name in a new town. She built a wonderful life for herself and was successful, all while staying off of social media and out of the spotlight, to stay hidden. That all changes when she falls for a wonderful man, her soul mate, who happens to be in the public eye. Unfortunately, because of a little slip up on social media, she’s found by someone from her past. Someone who is not fond of her and threatens to ruin everything she’s built for herself. Does her new love stand by her side or let her run off and start her life again without him?? Read to find out! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Thanks again Cindy for the opportunity to read and review this book! I throughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more about Nell and Leo!

This book hit my itch. I love a good romance and this one certainly has that but so much more. I was delighted to step into another book about Hazel Green, the woman and the town. Much like the author's series of "Good Hope" books the reader learns about a town, its people, places and stories that enrich the overall experience. It is a journey worth taking.

The amazing thing with this book is the political aspect that sucked me in and kept me going as much as the romance. All the characters are so well developed you feel you know them at the same time you are discovering who they are and what they hide. Nell has intrigued me since the first book and I am still intrigued with the complexity of her story and history as well as Hazel Green's. Cindy Kirk is a master at wrapping a story up yet introducing so many possiblities for the future novels. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it which is an honor. I am excited for the next book . I find myself daydreaming about Dixon and Wells....hhmmm.

Another winner from Cindy Kirk in the Hazel Green Series. Nell appeared in the first book and has a starring role in the second book of the series. Nell is a children's attorney by day and appears as Hazel Green the famous woman that the town is named after.

She has been having a secret liaison with Leo the town mayor but now he wants to bring the relationship into the public arena as his father who is a Senator is riding the scandal of a close friend who has let him down and Leo has political ambitions and doesn't want any scandal to taint him and his family.

Nell is scared that her childhood upbringing and misdeeds may cause a scandal and she desperately wants to protect Leo but also loves him very much and wants to be with him.
Her friends and brother are trying hard to protect and support Nell but will she end up with the man of her dreams?

A great romance and I finished it very quickly as I couldn't put it down,. Can't wait for book number 3.

Nell has reinvented herself. Her childhood was one she wanted to escape. After she left her family behind, she managed to get through school & develop a good life for herself in Good Hope staying out of the limelight. Isn’t it just her luck to fall for someone destined for politics? She can’t see a future for them but Leo won’t move on. Now that her past is tearing its ugly head, will he hate her?

Leo is from a high profile political family. It was always understood that he would follow in the political path. He didn’t plan on falling for someone like Nell who shunned the public life. Just when he thought she’d started to come around, her past came calling. What secrets is she keeping?

This story was interesting in the way Nell was strong enough to completely turn her life around but felt that no one would give her credit for it. She was trying to protect Leo from her past. Leo felt that his feelings for her & the way she turned herself around were more important. I enjoyed the peek into the lives of former characters. This was another enjoyable read.

This is the second book in the Hazel Green series. I loved Nell Ambrose and Leo Pomeroy’s story. The small town of Hazel Green evokes a pleasant feeling of community and people who really care about each other.
Nell is a children’s attorney and Leo is the town mayor of Hazel Green. They had been secretly meeting and never went out in public together. When they decided to go public with their relationship, Nell was afraid that the secrets from the past would hurt the romance that had developed between them. The one thing that I really loved about this book is how it addresses mistakes made in people’s lives and how they can rise above those mistakes and start afresh. There is acceptance, second chances and people who love unconditionally. Hazel Green and the people who live in Hazel Green have all of that in this book.
Cindy’s book is well written and kept me engaged and not wanting to put it down. I would definitely recommend this book. It is a sweet romance with a HEA.

I received a free advance readers copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. It took me longer than planned to get to it as I realized I hadn't read the first book in the series yet and wanted to read it first. First I will say I liked the first book better. This one was a bit more difficult to get into and I struggled with the persona of Hazel Green versus Nell especially when Nell wasn't really Nell. I did like the twists in the story and the final outcome and still want to read about the other characters that are introduced in the book. I've enjoyed most of Cindy Kirk's books however I will say this is probably my least favorite. One thing I do like about the series is all the different outfits they wear and that are described in the book. I think it would be fun to visit the town and some of their events. I also think she did a good job of helping people to realize their are different sides to all stories and it helps to get all the facts before making a judgment call.

This second story of Hazel Green tells the story of Nell Ambrose and Leo Pomeroy. Nell is a lawyer with a hidden past. Leo is the Mayor of Hazel Green from a prominent political family who is in the middle of enduring a political scandal.

Nell is afraid that her childhood misdeeds will come back and hurt Leo and his family, as she has evolved to put his needs and feelings first. She is willing to turn her back on love to make sure that her love is protected. Leo has learned to trust his feeling and make sure that his love is protected. This is a story of friendship, love and evolving.

As usual, the secondary characters, who we met in Book 1, enhance the story with friendship and unconditional love towards the main characters. I am looking forward to reading the stories that make up the town of Hazel Green.

One Step Away is the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone story. This is a story of overcoming the past, reinventing the future and learning that secrets always find a way of coming out no matter how hard you try to hide them. This is Nell and Leo's story. Since moving to Hazel Green, Nell has stayed out of the limelight unless she is portraying the town matriarch, Hazel Green. This changes when her relationship with Leo, the town mayor, evolves into public dating. Leo is ecstatic when Nell agrees to date publicly but when scandal attaches to his family, their relationship is in danger when Nell's secrets start to come to light. This is a great story filled with many emotions and characters that will keep the reader entertained until the very end. I can't wait for the next story in the series.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

This book took a bit for me to get into as it didn't grab me initially. Once I got a further into the story I was hooked.
This second book in the Hazel Green series focuses mainly on Cornelia "Nell" Ambrose and her relationship with the town's mayor Leo Pomeroy. Due to her past, Nell is reluctant to go public about her relationship with Leo but that changes after a photo taken at a town event gets published on social media.
Due to Leo's family political connections, Nell & Leo's relationship has its share of ups and downs before they both finally get their happily ever after.
Abigail Fine and Jonah Rollins do feature in this book as their story was set up in Book 1 One Fine Day, but this book belongs to Nell & Leo.
The more I read Ms Kirk's books, the more I can't wait to read the next book! You will not be disappointed with Ms Kirk's second offering in the Hazel Green series.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review. I will review without giving away to many spoilers.

While I enjoyed book #2, I had a little trouble getting in to the main characters. (Perhaps I was still in love with the main characters from One Fine Day.) But as you read more of the book you are drawn in to the lives of this couple, Nell and Leo.
Nell is running/hiding from her past in hopes that no one will discover that she’s not exactly who she says she is. Leo comes from a prominent family and he has fallen head over heels in love with Nell. They have their share of mishaps before they become an official couple, and as the story of them unfolds I found myself wanting this story to go on and on. Nell finally accepts and shares her humble roots and Leo still loves her, much to her surprise.
I so much enjoy Cindy Kirk’s books and her characters she creates. Everyone needs to visit a small town like Hazel Green.....

Nell is the town attorney, She also dresses up and gives speeches as Hazel Green, whom the town is named after. Leo is the town mayor. They first had a friends with benefits, sex only thing going on. Leo wants to start dating, and going together to town events. Nell says Yes after talking to her brother, and finding out their con artist Mother was in jail. She finally tells Leo and his Senator Father all about her past after a former high school friend shows up. She starts packing her belongings before meeting with the friend, knowing she will leave, to save Leo and his family from her past. The friend was trying to bring down the senator, but he was discovered, and Leo and his Dad save the day and Nell.
At the end of the book, Leo mentions a ring and a lifetime promise, but he doesn't ask the question. After reading the book, she'll say Yes when he does.
Can't wait for more from this series.

This is the second book in the Hazel Green series that centers on Cornelia “Nell” Ambrose and Leo Pomeroy. Nell and Leo have been content being friends with benefits for the past six months. Nell has been happy keeping people at arms length due to secrets from her past, but the people of Hazel Green have gotten past her barriers. Leo is the town mayor with higher political ambitions, like his Senator father. When Leo pushes Nell for a real relationship, she ignores her fears and says yes. The relationship is sweet, but her past and a political scandal with Leo’s father threatens their happily ever after. I loved the development of the characters and their relationship. I also loved the secondary characters and cannot wait for their stories (both Nell’s and Leo’s brothers).

I like that it a group of friends and not a family to make it different to good hope series. This series is definitely worth your time!

I love that Nell and Leo got together and it was an easy and quick read. For once the story had secrets but it wasn’t long for them to make up. For me when reading this book I wanted to know more about Rachel story as I disliked Merc and looking forward to who she gets with. I think as Nell hasn’t told everyone who her brother is etc I think that why I give the book 3.5 star. Am looking forward to seeing them more in future books to make up for it!

Am looking forward to stories about Liz, Rachel and Matilda. Well I hope that who be getting a story. I also hope Eva grace gets one with Liz son in future too.
