I love this biographical series. I need to learn more about this amazing man. Einstein simple noticed the world around him until he understood it. He lived his life curiously. He was always open to finding out something new and he didn't seem to take for granted what people told him was truth. He was a pacifist and he hated war. Sadly, the man lived through several wartimes.
Cool things I learned. - - He got out of Germany, by having traveled to the Netherlands and he decided to stay. He then contacted the British government to help get many of the scientists out of Germany that were jews as he saw the writing on the wall. - He saw his theories turned into horrors with the atomic bomb being used. He never intended that to happen. He was the one to warn the government of Germany trying to make the nuclear bomb. - He was also a civil rights activist and he hated people not being treated as equals - He wrote over 300 papers on physics - He helped to start protest over nuclear arms - J Edgar Hoover had 1400 + pages on him because of the nuclear protesting. They went through his trash constantly. - After he died, they kept his brain to study and they cut it up into pieces and it is now housed somewhere in Princeton.
I thought this was well done and I want to read others in this series. This is an amazing story, indeed. I need to find a good biography on ol' Albert
Albert Einstein: A Graphic History of the Father of Modern Physics is a biographical graphic novel written by Ned Hartley and illustrated by Tom Humberstone. It chronicles the life of Albert Einstien, the father of modern physics.
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. He is best known to the general public for his mass-energy equivalence formula, which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation". He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics.
This graphic novel chronicles the amazing life of Einstein from his youth in Germany and onward. The journey begins with him being a young boy, whom his parents feared that he may never talk to a future genius who triumphed over obstacles and became a success. It is a fascinating journey filled with tidbits of information of the great man as he would eventually become the father of modern physics.
Albert Einstein: A Graphic History of the Father of Modern Physics is wonderfully written and constructed graphic novel. Hartley recounts the life of Albert Einstein rather well featuring on the major events and accomplishments of his life. Humberstone's illustration wonderfully depicts the narrative with soothing colors that made the graphic novel easy to read.
All in all, Albert Einstein: A Graphic History of the Father of Modern Physics is a wonderfully constructed biographical graphic novel about one of the famous physicist in history – Albert Einstein.
I actually bought this graphic novel for my husband, but I liked the look of it myself and now we have both read and enjoyed it.
I love the idea of using the idea of a biography and turning it into a comic. This one bases the story on the facts and uses fictional conversation to tell the story. It works pretty well here. It is very readable, even for someone not-at-all sciency, like me. This one is not only be great for adults, but also for children, who may find a graphic novel a bit more accessible than a proper biography. I learned quite a bit about Einstein that I did not really know about.
The illustrations were very well done as well. The colour tones throughout the book are calm and pleasing to the eye.
I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. It never got too ‘sciency’ and it was very well done. This is part of a series and I may well pick up more. It is a great way to learn about history in a fun, but informative format.
Very nice job of including some details sometimes omitted in other bios. This is a fast read, given its graphics take up the majority of page space, but it is nicely drawn and flows well. Albert's papers and theories are explained in a way that can be understood by someone not possessing a science degree. Thank you for this option! Looking forward to others in this series.
