Thorough overview of current trends in FinTech. Large category, so nice to have a handy guide like this that summarizes major players and trends. Only problem is that FinTech is trendy and companies can go boom and bust in an instant. As of now, this book is extremely relevant but as time goes on will lose that positive.
This book is well-intentioned but I didn't really bond with it. The problem with taking up so many pages with examples of companies in different fields is that it immediately dates the book and I found myself skimming those sections. It does cover a good deal of areas, not all of which I'm aware of, but the blockchain stuff was very average which also made me concerned about the rest. Maybe better for people who have literally no knowledge and need a primer but for me it didn't really hit the spot.
Excellent way to introduce yourself to world of Fintech. I guess that regular updates are needed to keep to book current, but as of my reading it was very up to date.

Review
This book came up on Kindle Unlimited and I grabbed the opportunity to read it quickly in a couple of days.
It defines and discusses various new concepts in digital banking, crowd funding, corporate banking, InsurTech, RegTech, Blockchain, IoT, Big Data, Wealth Management, Digital P2P Lending, ECommerce and Payments. Its more like a survey of landscape. Although I am new to many areas I could easily vouch for quality of presentation for some like IoT, Blockchain, Big Data, Payments and Regtech in which I have worked.
Another useful aspect of books it provides live examples of companies (including Indias own PayTM and Axis Bank) with their strategy, tactics, investment and revenue.
If you are new to this area this would be a good read. I think RegTech would make more sense to me given work I do. Indias Aadhaar (discussed in the book) is one RegTech that may be a game changer but its more likely Africa and China may yet be first revolutionaries given they have a clean slate and ubiquity of smartphone, apps, connectivity and demographics.
In 2019 my country Nigeria was assumed to be the Fintech capital of Africa because the Fintech industry started getting so much attention in the country like never before and investments in Fintech was skyrocketing in the country.
There could never have been a better time than now to get more informed about what Fintech is all about and how it operates and how to be part of this trend.
This book did justice to my curiousity about Fintech and how it relates to my country Nigeria and how I can benefit from this Financial Tech revolution.
Great book! The author is able to turn complicated terms into easy concepts, while at the same time providing good examples of key players of the industry.
I highly recommend it if you are looking to learn about Fintech!
Very good guide for the beginners. I think such guides need regular updating given how quickly things change in the tech space. At any rate, good place to start
Author tries to cover all aspects of fintech but to someone who is not familiar with the space , it's very tough to follow and too high level. Deeper explanations of these businesses with examples would be helpful. I felt like I read the cliffs notes of a book.
