Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins/KillerReads for the ARC.

Pageturner alert!
After suffering a breakdown following a miscarriage, Alex dotes on her little girl, two year old Carol-Anne.
But all comes crashing down when her daughter is snatched from the car. In frantic mode she contacts her police officer husband Ray and a search is on the way.
All this on the first few pages tells me I'm in for a wild ride!
And it is. Alex at home with a family liaisons officer, Ray taken off the case but still hanging around the precinct, the police enquiry making slow progress, vicious cyber bullying.
Is Carol-Anne really abducted or is there more to the story?
The vivid scenes and fast pace keep me glued to the pages. Lots of twists add to the excitement. Short chapters make it easy to follow the small group of characters and read 'just one more'. Before I know it I'm halfway through, unable to put this book down.
The relationship between Alex and Ray is quite sad. Although being married, they live seperate lives under one roof, hardly knowing each other anymore. The few people in their circle come across as shallow and superficial. There's no safety net.
Meanwhile more suspects are brought forward.
The possibilities are explored from all angles and dots are connected. This whirlwind of events takes until the very end before the final twist brings the story to a halt. Didn't see that coming!
Little Girl Gone is a gem of a thriller. Very well crafted and highly recommended.

Stephen Edger is an author that I never hesitate to read. Little Girl Gone is a brilliant book that had me hooked from the very beginning right until til the very last page.the characters were so realistic and relatable, although not always likeable. A story of a missing girl that is frightening for any parent, but one that I could not put down.

Alex Granger turns her back for just a moment but in that time her daughter Carol-Anne disappear she from her car. There is nobody around, no CCTV and no DNA and police, including her own husband Ray struggle to find her. Then Alex receives an email from the kidnapper with his demands.... but how far would you get to save your child.

Thank you to Stephen Edger, Harper Impulse- Killer Reads and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

This book was excellent. I figured out who had taken Carol-Anne straight away which is rare for me so I was very pleased with myself haha. The story was excellent and told by the parents of Carol-Anne. I really liked Alex and felt awful for her for not only her child being taken but also because of her husbands affair. I couldn’t stand Ray. Every chapter of his was infuriating as he was so selfish and nasty. I’m glad Alex didn’t take him back as he didn’t deserve it. The story was brilliant and I was really interested to find out what happened and it definitely didn’t disappoint. This is the first book by Stephen Edger and it won’t be the last. A very impressive read and I definitely recommend it.

OMG, Little Girl Gone is one hell of a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. It's a gripping thriller that holds the reader in a vice like grip that's so tight you sometimes find yourself struggling to breath. That's when you actually get an opportunity to remember to breath which is not very often due to the short, snappy chapters and non stop action.

Alex Granger had only turned her back for a moment,at least she`s fairly certain it was only a moment. But that moment was all it took for her world to be destroyed. Her two year old daughter Carol Anne has vanished into thin air.

Alex`s Husband Ray is a detective,so he is used to dealing with horrific cases but due to his personal connection with the missing child,he is forbidden from aiding the inquiry.

With no suspects,no DNA and no promising leads the investigation stalls. Then Alex receives an email telling her exactly what she needs to do if she wants to see her daughter again. As the deadline for her daughter's safe return swiftly approaches Alex must ask herself,is she really prepared to do anything to save her daughter.

Little Girl Gone is a intricately plotted, character driven psychological thriller that is told in chapters that alternate between Alex and Ray`s points of view. Alex`s panic and fear when she discovered that Carol Anne had disappeared seemed genuine but once the reader started to learn about her psychological issues you began to doubt Alex`s version of events. Despite her issues Alex definitely had more redeemable qualities than her Husband Ray who despite being a very good Detective was not a very likeable character. There was numerous suspects who may or may not have been involved in Carol Anne's disappearance,I think I suspected everyone at one point as this fast paced thriller unfolded before my eyes. What had happened to Carol Anne? Was Alex involved in her disappearance? Who was sending the terrifying messages to Alex, was she sending them to herself or getting someone to send them to her? Was Carol Anne still alive?

This absolutely AMAZING book has short, snappy chapters, many of which end on a cliff hanger and give the reader a very bad case of Just one more chapter syndrome. I was hooked in from the first page, frantically turning the pages, totally enthralled by the author`s mesmerising storytelling. I honestly didn't want to put this book down. I would love to watch a film version of this book. I think it's worth far more than five stars. Very, very good book and highly recommended by little old me.

Little Girl Gone by Stephen Edger is a psychological thriller.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Harper Impulse and Killer Reads, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:
2-year old Carol-Anne is missing. Alex Granger pulled into the car-park, left her daughter in the car for two minutes while she went to get a ticket, and when she returned, Carol-Anne was no longer strapped in her car-seat in the backseat. And so the nightmare begins.

Alex’s husband Ray is a detective. Surely he and the team can find Carol-Anne. But there is no evidence, no clues. With a miscarriage behind her, Alex cannot imagine life without her daughter. Her mental health is being brought into question, and with a marriage already on shaky grounds, Alex and Ray may not survive this.

When Alex gets a message from the kidnapper, no one really believes it is reliable, but Alex knows in her heart it is true. But the message gives her an ultimatum, and Alex will eventually have to decide how far she will go to get her daughter back.

My Opinions:
Loved this book. Edger created characters to love and characters to make you wonder. He created a plot with twists and turns and with red-herrings at every corner. He took every parent’s worst nightmare and increased the tension. I think he had the ending right (although he left me with a few unanswered questions, but that’s okay).

Would definitely recommend this one.

I've lost count of the number of psychological thrillers that use the missing child trope and then play on the natural instincts of the parents to do anything to retrieve their child. That said, this is one of the better ones. From the very beginning the level of tension was high and the writing engaging enough to keep you reading and finishing in one suspenseful sitting. Each twist is more shocking than the last and lots of misdirection/red herrings ensured a nail-bitingly good read. Due to the tightly plotted story, it had me hook, line and sinker, with a variety of possible suspects and the dropping of subtle clues which kept me guessing over and over. None of the characters are really likeable but I don't need affable characters in my crime fiction to be satisfied. Despite mother Alex being incredibly irritating at times I did feel for her given the situation, she found herself in.

Edger is a skilled writer and has produced a novel that packs a real emotional punch. The fast pace and short chapters force you to read just one more before retiring to bed. The author broaches some serious topics throughout Little Girl Gone - love, rape, loss, child abduction, miscarriage, cheating and mental health are the ones that immediately come to mind. This is a quick, easy and compelling read but don't doubt Edger's masterful ability to weave an intricate, unpredictable and eminently readable story. What will happen when the facade of a perfectly loving family shatters? Oh, and that ending!

Many thanks to Harper Impulse and Killer Reads for an ARC.

Well this book starts full on, Alex makes a decision to leave her 2 year old daughter in her car in the car park while she goes to buy a ticket......on her return Carol-Anne has vanished, disappeared without a trace....!
Its a very tense first few chapters and the fear and guilt from Alex is palpable
Enter Alex’s hubby, Ray, a Policeman, unlikeable but he gives an interesting view on being a victim instead of dealing with other peoples crimes, of course he finds not being able to intervene almost impossible and this causes friction between him and colleagues
I have to say I found it kinda weird he carried on working, on other cases, whilst his daughter was missing and the parts of the book that dealt with this other case he was working on got me thinking ‘who cares, his daughter has been taken, whats he doing even dealing with another case?’, nonetheless it is part of the book
The story had some interesting characters, none I particularly warmed to but that wasn’t the point am guessing, they were believable and real, even if you wouldn’t want them on your friends list on Facebook!!
The Family Liaison Officer sent to the house had a surprising back story and really a book could be written about her and what happens next in her life
The writing style was clear and good and made sure you understood what was happening in the investigation and didn’t get too complex in ‘police chat’, something I always appreciate
After the fast start the book paced itself to an enjoyable level and then whizzzzzed right back up to manic for the last part of the book where it was fast, furious and ever changing and yes until a new word is invented I have to say full of twists and good ones!, the ending being cleverly ended and not as I expected!
A good story that I enjoyed and was harrowing when intense and pleasurable to read all the way through

She was away for 2 minutes..

An abducted child is a horror that is one of parents' many nightmares. When Alex Granger goes to retrieve a parking ticket leaving her 2-year-old daughter, Carol-Anne, secure in a car seat in an alarmed car, she has no idea that her life is about to be upended. Alex returns to the car to find her daughter gone. Her first call is to her husband, Ray, a detective sergeant, though he doesn't answer his phone immediately, but soon shows up at the scene and has a lot of questions that will need to be handled by another member of the police as Ray is forbidden from participation in the case. But all is not as it should be between husband and wife so they can't offer each other comfort. Then Alex gets an email from "Simon" telling her exactly what she must do if she wants her daughter to be returned. NO SPOILERS

This was a bit of domestic drama with a crime/police procedural bent. A lot going on including Ray investigating a robbery ring instead of staying home with his wife and the FLO. Of course they have no idea who Simon is and Alex is under suspicion of doing harm to her own child. I found most of this book to stretch my ability to suspend disbelief to the max and the reveal came out of nowhere as to the kidnapper's identity. I must say that I didn't like ANY of the characters in this book which made it hard to stay with it. The narrative flips between Alex and Ray and each has issues and they don't talk to each other. The things they both do, especially Alex, make no sense in light of their situation -- or at least they didn't to me. I did finish reading it but the story didn't live up to my anticipation given the premise and the synopsis. Family dysfunction trumped suspense thriller and the epilogue...umm NO.

Thank you to NetGalley and Killer Reads for the e-book ARC to read and review.

There is a reason why I don’t read a lot of thrillers. I find them very predictable. Most of the time I get the whole plot twist in the first 200 pages and I just see the story play out as I imagined it. I can definitely say that Little Girl Gone wasn’t predictable. Anything but and maybe that was a shame…But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
When I read the premise of Little Girl Gone I felt instantly drawn to this story. It really is every parent’s worst nightmare and being a mom of two I wouldn’t know how to survive if one of my children would disappear in thin air. So I was really intrigued by the story, especially because it was told from dual perspective. As reader you follow the mother Alex, the one who turns around for just a few seconds and loses their daughter. And the father, a detective who wants to find his daughter as fast as possible. This was a very interesting way of looking at the story, because you got to see the marriage dynamics between the two and they made each other unreliable narrator’s. I actually liked that as a reader you had to question everything you learned in the previous chapter, because the other parent told a different story. Very well executed by the author.
But and there is a pretty huge but I couldn’t say I was really enjoying the story. I was up till a certain point, but when we got the the final conclusion. The whole who done it and why part the story for me fell completely apart. As I stated before I hate knowing what is going on and being able to predict the outcome of a thriller. But I hate it even more if there is no lead in the story point out to what is going on and who is doing it. I am doubting if I am giving away a spoiler here. But I am still going to type it… You can’t figure out as a reader what is going on, because there isn’t any indication in the whole book about who has done it. It feels like the author got to a certain amount of pages and thought to himself “Ow let’s call it a day. I ll just write a quick ending that just has nothing to do with everything I have been working on.” Such a shame….
So yes Little Girl Gone could have been really good. It has an interesting premise, a good story building, intriguing dual perspective and that it got blown to pieces… Such a shame… It could have been so good.

This book had the potential to be a great read. Lots of twists and turns, lead after lead that was a dead end, but I never felt a connection to the characters. That makes or breaks a book for me, and this one just didn’t do it.

When most crimes involving children happen law enforcement look at he parents first. Alex has had mental health problems and was the last person to see her daughter.
There wasn't anything in the storyline until the end that added much excitement. Even the end was pulse pounding or surprising. None of the characters added much to the book. Most of them were blase.

Wow, what a thriller! And you can’t guess who kidnapped little Carole-Anne. Mom Alex is sympathetic, Dad Ray not so much but isn’t a suspect. What a tangled web, what a great story!

Wow what a stunning book! Drew me in from the first page and kept my interest until it spat me out at the end exhausted and exhilarated from the drama, tension, action and suspense. This was so cleverly written to conceal the bad guy I would never have guessed the ending in a million years.

I am a massive fan of Stephen Edger and this book didn’t disappoint, it was a brilliantly written psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails anxiously waiting on news of Carol-Ann. Will they find her before it’s too late? You will have to buy they book to find out!

I am going to award it a big fat 5 stars, it probably deserves a 6 or 7, I enjoyed it that much. Would make a great Christmas gift for a love of crime and psychological fiction.

😒 My Review 😒
I had really high hopes for this story. This is one of those books that sounded so intriguing in the synopsis, but the actual story failed to deliver. I could not really connect with any of the characters. While the story line was interesting the fact all of the characters were unlikable
took so much away from the story. There were several things that bothered me with the book- one was the fact that the police investigation was all about post office robberies rather than the missing child. ( That really irritated me) . After all that is what the book was suppose to be about.
The other thing that bothered me was the fact that Ray was so quick to think the worst of his wife. He didn't support her at all. I felt so bad for Alex . She didn't seem to have anyone . No wonder the woman was so depressed. Third there was a few characters that appeared and then disappeared as fast as they appeared .
The only reason i finished it was because i wanted to know what happened to Carol-Anne. The book is far too long and drags in places. Even though this story did not quite live up to my expectations I do want to read some of this authors other books.

I was well and truely hooked from the very beginning with this book, little girl gone is the first crime/mystery/thriller book I think I've ever picked up and I am SO GLAD I chose this one to start with! I finished reading like what.. Half an hour ago now and my mind is still in a state of shock, and I don't see myself i coming out of this trance any time soon!

Little girl gone by Stephen edger is a story told from two perspectives. One of which being Alex, Alex has recently suffered from a miscarriage and hasn't quite been herself since (mentally). So Alex is on her way to her first job interview when she leaves her two year old daughter Carol-Anne in the car whilst she pays for parking, and in those few minutes she's gone, Carol-Anne is snatched.. Or is she? We spend the rest of the book trying to figure out just EXACTLY what happened to that little girl and uncover some secrets about Alex and her husband along the way. This novel is based on every parent's worst nightmare: you turn away from your child for a few seconds and she disappears. Ray and Alex's marriage is already on shaky ground so when two-year-old Carol-Anne is taken from her car, Alex is understandably frantic. Fortunately Ray is a detective but he is frozen out of the investigation as he is too close to it. Alex's mental state comes into question as her past reveals some sketchy details about her parenting abilities. But when the kidnapper demands Alex kill someone to get her little girl back, things get even dicier and seem to spin out of control. This is a thrill ride from beginning to end with lots of red herrings along the way!

Alex is driving in the rain with her two-year-old daughter, Carol-Anne, to drop her at the creche before heading for a job interview. Finding the last parking place, it turns out to be not close to the parking meter. Rather than take Carol-Anne out in the rain, she locks the doors while she runs to pay the parking fee. Returning a couple of minutes later, she is shocked to find that Carol-Anne has vanished. In a panic, she calls her husband, Detective Sergeant, Ray Granger, to come help her. Quickly, Alex is surrounded by members of the police doing all they can to find Carol-Anne. Both parents are frantic.

Alex and Ray have had some marital problems lately and both are having a difficult time trying to comfort each other. Ray has been told by his boss that as the father of the missing child, he is not allowed to participate in the search for Carol-Anne which frustrates him. He decides to do some sleuthing on his own.

A Family Liaison Officer is sent by the police to stay with Alex and care for the family. The officer keeps up-to-date with the search and conveys what she can to Alex as Ray is not home with her.

But when Alex receives a rhyming email about Carol-Anne from an unknown person, things appear to be even more dire than thought and time is short.

There are a lot of police procedures depicted in this book which can seem to be filler, but I found it to be quite educational. This story is one that will keep readers guessing who the kidnapper is, if there truly is one. Good action and angst in this book and one that I know readers will enjoy.

WOW what a head spinner.... what would you do if you're 2 year old daughter was snatched, you only looked away for a minute, but that is all that it took... with no evidence, cctv, dna to go on and no ransom note, who took little Carol-Anne and why?

This is every parent's worse nightmare but for Alex Granger, it was not a nightmare but reality, her husband Alex is a detective and he has been frozen out of the investigation, while the case is focusing on Alex covering up murdering her daughter, are they nearer to the truth than they realise or is there something more sinister at play?

With so many lies coming to the forefront, can Alex keep it together for the sake of her child? My heart was in my mouth reading this book being a parent myself and I questioned myself, how far would I go to get my child back? Chillingly gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist that will leave you dizzy, this is a must read in my opinion and worthy of the 5 stars.

A MUST-READ!!

"Little Girl Gone" is an emotional and intense rollercoaster ride!

Alex Granger is taking her two year old daughter, Carol-Anne to daycare while she goes on a job interview.

When she finds a parking spot, she decides to take Carol-Anne with her to go to the ticket machine. Alex notices it's raining and on second-thought she puts her daughter back in the car. She locks and alarms the car and she hurries to the ticket machine. All of a sudden, she hears the car alarm and she turns around. She turns off the alarm; she thinks Carol-Anne triggered it. Once she gets back to her car, the unthinkable has happened!

What happens next is heartbreaking. You learn more about Alex and Ray's marriage and how feelings are not being spoken. They are not the same people they were when they first got married. Will they find Carol-Anne? Will their marriage survive?

Once again, Stephen has written a riveting story. His attention to detail is vivid and dramatic. It's a must-read story! You won't be disappointed!!

This is the first book I have read by this author - and probably won't be the last.
A gripping story of the disappearance of a small child.
Alex is running late for a job interview when she leaves her toddler daughter alone in a locked car in an underground garage while she walks a few yards away to pay for parking - but when she returns to the car she finds Carol-Anne gone and so begins every parents worst nightmare. Alex's husband Ray is a police detective but finds his hands tied and unable to help in the investigation of his daughters disappearance.
This is a roller coaster of a story, told alternatively from Alex and then Rays perspective. It is one of those stories where you think first one thing then something happens and your opinion changes. I have t admit I didn't find the main characters particularly engaging but the writing was tight and the tension built with every page. I absolutely did not see the end coming.

This book is very cleverly written and the writers skill really comes to the fore. It starts off with Alex going for a job interview and it’s pouring with rain and she leaves her child CarolAnne in the car whilst she buys a parking ticket. Then she gets back to the car and the child is gone. Her husband Ray, who is a detective is not allowed to investigate himself, and because of something in Alex’s past they doubt her story, then she gets an email.

The story twists and turns, and like a slippery eel just when you think you know who it is, the perpetrator slips out of your hand and you don’t have a clue. I was really surprised at the ending, which had an almighty twist, and it was a twist too. I read this in a day it was that good.

My thanks to the author and to Netgalley for the ARC.

Two minutes was all it took ! Two minutes that would turn Alex Granger's world into a living nightmare as realization dawned that her two year old daughter, Carol Anne, was no longer in the car where she left her when she went to get a ticket at the car park.

Can Alex's husband Ray, who is a police detective, help solve the crime and support his distraught wife or would their already troubled marriage divide them even more.

From the opening chapter Little Girl Gone grabs and pulls you into this action packed, character driven crime thriller and keeps you gripped to the unexpected ending.
There are plenty of suspects, red herrings and twists galore and I for one didn't work out "whodunit "

A great read and one I would certainly recommend.

There’s three sides to every story - his, her’s and the truth. This was pretty good. They way it’s told is clever. You hear one character’s view and in the next chapter you hear the other’s. In this case Alex and Ray, whose marriage is not in a great place after a miscarriage. Through these chapters you see that they are not on the same page.

The opening is powerful; it really grabbed me. There are quite a few twists and surprises. There is also a decent suspect pool to choose from. Did I see where the ending was going? Nope, not one bit. It was an interesting reveal in that I haven’t seen this one played out for a child abduction scenario so I appreciated that. But it left me a bit sad at the tragedy of it all. I would read more by this author.

Alex leaves her daughter in the car while she goes to get a parking ticket and when she returns she’s gone...
Her husband quickly comes to the car park but there’s no sign of their daughter.
Ray is a Detective and finds it hard when he’s told he can’t be involved in the investigation so he buries himself in another case.
Alex is devastated but is also hurt that her husband is not there for her. Instead of drawing them closer together, this pushes them further apart.
We are led down one path thinking we know what’s happened then the story twists and turns it on it’s head.
This is a gripping read and I really enjoyed it.

A decision that can turn your world upside down - do you leave your child strapped in her car seat for 2 minutes, or do you take her out in the pouring rain with you? Alex decided that as she could see her car from where she was, there was no point in taking Carol-Anne out in the pouring rain for just a minute or so. That decision came back to haunt her. Carol-Anne was not in her car seat when Alex returned! Alex called her husband Detective Ray, but as he was so close to the case, he was not allowed to assist in her search. Then Alex receives a note.
This psychological thriller is well written and will keep you guessing.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for my ARC for my honest review.
