Dollycas’s Thoughts

We return to Addison and Snowflake Lake right before the holidays. Lindsey Haynes has just pulled into town with her unique little shop on wheels. Her Uncle Gus manages the cabins on SnowFlake Lake and he has the perfect spot to park her Tiny House/Shop when it isn’t parked on the square for the upcoming Christmas event. She is thrilled her snow globe directed her to this charming little town. The snow globe, a gift from her father came with a note – “Unsure where to go? Give a little shake … and your heart will always know.” It hasn’t steered her wrong yet.

Dr. Greg Davis has had some bad luck in the romance department so this year he has vowed to turn over a new leaf. He doesn’t need to be in a relationship to enjoy the holidays.

Greg and Lindsey happen to meet just when the first flurries start to fall in Addison. Their worlds get all shook up and it may never be the same, especially with a little nudge here and a little push there.

I know when I reach for a book by this author I am in for a delightful story so I plan accordingly. Looking at the cover I knew I was going to need a cup or two of hot cocoa and a blanket to snuggle in. The weather here had just turned chilly so it was cooperating as well.

Lindsey and her tiny house and snow globe grabbed me right away. I love tiny houses and I could easily imagine living in one myself, only stationary, not traveling the country on a trailer. I must say it is a fantastic idea for a person like Lindsay.

We met the Davis family before and this time it is Greg’s story. He decides to reinvent himself, not be so uptight. Changes the way he dresses, quits shaving and trades in his sensible car for a Mustang . . . in the winter . . . in Connecticut.

These two are destined for each other but it isn’t going to be easy.

I adore the way that Ms. DeMaio tells a story. Everything about her characters and their interactions is believable and genuine. Lindsey’s positive free spirit attitude is refreshing juxtaposed against Greg’s somewhat curmudgeonly take on life. The story unfolds at a comfortable pace and is very well written. She has set this series in a charming locale. The snow globe brings a little magic to the wonderful holiday read. Every scene is described vividly painting delightful images in the mind.

Addison, Connecticut is a truly wondrous place to spend the holidays. Romance and Christmas cheer abound. This story will leave your heart warmed and a huge smile on your face.

While there are recurring characters all of the books in this series can be read on their own, but you will want to read them all! I highly recommend this snowy escape.

Heartwarming Christmas romance

First Flurries continues Joanne DeMaio’s wonderful, warm-hearted Christmas tales! This book is romantic and emotionally stirring, and its small town setting lends the perfect atmosphere. Lindsey and Greg meet each other most auspiciously, when she backs her tiny house into his car. Neither of them are looking for love...Lindsey is a bit of a dreamer and a vagabond, and Greg has been spurned the past three Christmases. In this charming book, filled with snow and Christmas cheer, it’s easy to get drawn into their story. I also enjoyed catching up with characters from the previous Christmas books written by the author. First Flurries is the perfect book to snuggle up with during the holidays. Hallmark needs to turn all of these books into Christmas movies!

For a free spirited business owner and a down on his luck orthopedic doctor romance is not in their cards until one day they meet during an accident and with the help of a magical snow globe, their friends and family, and numerous run ins with each other they fall in love. This great holiday read made me feel like I was living on Snowflake Lake and enjoying the coziness of the Christmas holidays along with the characters of Addison, CT.

My Thoughts: Beginning with the magical flurries that surrounded the characters in First Flurries, I was wrapped up in the moments with the characters.

As with all books by this author, I felt immediately connected to the characters, watching from close by as Lindsey settled into Addison with her Tiny House hooked up to her SUV, her Vagabond Vintage Shop enclosed within. The first collision occurred while backing up her bulky vehicle, distracted by an announcement on the radio, and as she connected with a sedan, incidentally belonging to Dr. Greg Davis, from that point on, many subsequent collisions would lead the couple to a strange and almost inevitable connection.

But both were fighting their feelings. Greg had an unfortunate history of love connections not quite “getting off the ground,” and Lindsey was constantly moving on to her next destination. Would the magic of the country village during the holidays lead to something more? Or were the two of them destined to hit and miss? This book was one that kept me smiling and wishing for the two of them, and earned 5 stars.

I’m truly loving this series. Each and every book deserves the high ratings they received. I agree with the masses. This is rare.

But...

Dr. Jekyl...I mean Dr. Greg...dude. Some self evaluation and subsequent change to oneself is sometimes good. Sometimes. But, if attitudes were contagious yours would not be worth catching. I’d be running the opposite way! Lindsey is a saint! A saint in vintage bell bottoms and inside a little home. Now Greg’s change did not take away from the book. It made it an interesting read. For sure!

I do have to say I always loved the character Greg. In all the previous books that he popped up in I felt bad for him. I genuinely liked him. I was so looking forward to a Greg-centric book. And I just adore Greg’s family. I also love the new character of Lindsey and her Uncle Gus, who we met before. I do suspect however Lindsey made Santa’s naughty list for what she did to Old World Santa.

I truly hope GACTV, UPTV or Hallmark gets their hands on this series. They’d make great movies! I’d so love this. The scenery alone would get me. And all Lindsey’s vintage toggery. And the Mail dog. And the Christmas Barn....

One question about these tiny houses...where does one put all their books? I mean, all my editions of Jane Austen’s books alone take up one shelf 😉

One of the most Heartwarming Novels I have read so far. The way Joanne Demaio describes the tiniest details puts you right in the scene of the book. This is a Must read for anyone who wants to get lost in the Magic of the Christmas Holidays! I wanted so bad to be whisked away to this small town of Addison, CT and "almost" wished I was back up north awaiting the snow.

Ok … first off, I really enjoy these Wintery Novels. I love the description of Addison, and I like having the recurring characters in each progressive book.

Buuut - I didn’t connect with this story at all.

One, I’m not understanding how the snowman snow globe even works. I mean … she says over and over throughout the book that she always gives it a shake “so that her heart will know what to do.” Ummm … how exactly? It’s a snow globe, not a Magic 8 Ball. You shake the globe, the fake snow falls down on the little plastic snowman. The exact same way every time. I’m not getting how that’s supposed to give her some magical answer.

Two, Lindsey seemed verrrry immature. For example: the whole Santa scene. I actually liked her idea of standing in line so she could whisper her wish of a Christmas kiss to Greg (although I hated that it had to rhyme). It was a totally flirty move on her part, and I could see Greg needing the “hint”. But, instead of following through with it like an adult, she gets all wimpy, has to be prodded and coaxed into saying it like she’s five years old, and then jumps up and takes off running all the way back to her house as fast as she could after she finally did.

Three, I hate the “Christmas-themed non-cussing”. So much. Really, really hate it. It’s sooooo not believable. And it’s not cute or funny. I mean, nobody (NOBODY!) yells out “Son of a Snowflake!” when their car gets hit. They just don’t. And then Lindsey yells out, “Golly Gumdrops!” and “Jolly Jiminy!” in her times of severe stress.

Nobody. Does. That. Please stop writing those.

And, four … this is probably being totally, totally nit picky, but I’m not understanding AT ALL why “throngs of news reporters and photographers” would be huddled in the cold to take pics of Greg going on a date with the woman who won him in an auction. I mean - Addison is supposed to be a small town - why would THRONGS of reporters be there? Where did they all come from? Are we supposed to believe that surrounding towns sent their own news reporters to Addison to get a picture of some local guy walking into a restaurant? (On a red carpet, no less.) Who would think that was news worthy? And then a reporter interviews Lindsey in the restaurant: “Readers will hang on your every word, Lindsey. Tell me what you want for Christmas this year.” Yes, I’m sure that people six towns over are dying to read what some random woman they don’t even know wants for Christmas. (Insert eye roll emoji here).

A tiny town that loves Christmas, a tiny house, a tiny vintage shop, a free spirited woman and a down on his romantic luck surgeon make an interesting story.

Lindsey and Greg meet when she backs her tiny house/shop into his car because she is looking up!! She is looking upwards because the weather man on the radio said to look up and see the first flurries. They cross paths constantly, it’s a small town, and he tries to ignore his attraction while her laid back attitude draws him closer.

He was a little irritating, very uptight and trying to change his image but going about it in an odd way. It seemed like he was having a midlife crisis but was way too young. Obviously, I liked her more than him and I would have probably jumped in my pick up and pulled my tiny house on down the road. Good thing I’m not the author or there wouldn’t have been a story!

The supporting cast of characters, especially Uncle Gus, were spot on, the town was a dream and made me want to visit at Christmas time and the story was fun. A very enjoyable read.

I have read several of this author’s books and will read more because I always come away feeling happy and satisfied with the conclusion to the story.

Accidental Love

What happens when a quirky little trailer behind an SUV belonging to an unconventional young woman backs into the expensive car of the town’s top doc? Then, as they intentionally try to avoid one another, they keep bumping (and I mean that literally) into each other. Dr. Greg is determined not to get involved with anyone this year, as his track record for Christmas romance has been downright ugly. Lindsey and her little house and business are on the move from venue to venue where she sells her treasures from the past. She doesn’t stay in one place long, always looking for her next stop.
This is one holiday themed book you won’t want to miss. Joanne DeMaio knows just how to get you in the holiday spirit. As always, her story is written with a smooth flow from one event to the next, keeping the reader wanting more and bringing the story to an ending that makes you want to pick up another of her books. This is definitely five stars.

In First Flurries, author Joanne DeMaio transports the reader to the quaint small New England lakeside town of Addison, Connecticut for a heartwarming Christmas tale of family, friendship, finding a home, and a chance at unexpected love.

Lindsey Haynes is the thirty-one-year-old owner of Vagabond Vintage, a traveling tiny house shop on wheels clothing boutique. She's been traveling on an autumn craft fair and flea market road trip through old New England towns and is trying to decide where her next stop will be. With one shake of a snowman snow globe that her dad gave her as a present and the special verse "unsure where to go? Give a little shake ... and your heart will always know," Lindsey decides to stop in Addison, Connecticut, a picturesque and quaint lakeside town where her Uncle Gus lives. Uncle Gus tells Lindsey about the new holiday festival in town, Merry Market, and helps her get a spot for her shop on wheels for the holiday season.

Greg Davis is a thirty-five-year-old prominent orthopedic surgeon. The past three Christmas holiday seasons has brought three heartbreaks for Greg. Tired of being only a first date man, Greg decides to stay out of the game of love this holiday season.

While backing into a parking spot on the town green, Lindsey was looking at the flurries from the first snowfall of the season, and accidentally backs into Greg's parked luxury sedan. With the help of some well-meaning town cupids, Lindsey and Greg keep crossing paths unexpectedly, can the lovely freespirit and the dejected doctor find love when they aren't even looking for it?

First Flurries is a wonderful Christmas story that will tug at the heartstrings and fill the reader with seasonal joy. Author Joanne DeMaio weaves a spellbinding tale set in the quaint New England town of Addison, Connecticut, that captivates the reader's attention with a heartwarming holiday romance. This delightful holiday tale has a rich description of the breathtaking holiday decorated small town setting, holiday traditions, and delicate swirls of snowflakes. Lindsey and Greg find an unexpected chance at love as their story unfolds in a magical way that will make the reader believe in the power of love and friendship, and the joy of the holiday season.

There are not enough words that I can express about the simplicity and beauty in which author Joanne DeMaio weaves her wonderful heartwarming and multi-layered stories that are filled with a mixture of love, friendship, family, and life's unexpected special moments, it is simply breathtaking. As the readers follow Lindsey and Greg's story, they will discover that Lindsey's vagabond journey leads her to find the right home, and as for Greg, love blows into his life like one of winter's first flurries, out of nowhere!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention how the richly vivid description of the town of Addison is phenomenal, you'll yearn to visit the area and experience the quaint lakeside town's holiday tradition.Ms. DeMaio has a special gift for transporting the readers into every story that she weaves while leaving them yearning for more!

First Flurries is an enchanting holiday story full of warmth and comfort that will remind the reader of the magic, joy, cheer, and spirit of Christmas. It is a lovely story that will resonate with the reader for a very long time.

Lindsey Haynes is the owner of Vagabond Vintage, a tiny shop-on-wheels clothing boutique that doubles as her home. After completing the autumn craft fair route through New England, she gives her treasured snow globe a shake to see in which direction she should head. The snow globe was a gift from her dad and has never failed to lead her in the right direction. This time, she finds herself drawn to the Southern New England town of Addision, Connecticut which is also where her Uncle Gus lives. Uncle Gus runs the Christmas Holly Trolley during the season, and informs Lindsey that he might be able to get her a spot at the Merry Market, set up on the Town Green for seasonal shoppers.

But on her way into town Lindsey has the misfortune of becoming involved in a fender-bender. The owner of the BMW that she hits is none other than Dr. Greg Davis, a thirty-five year old local orthopedic surgeon and the town’s most eligible bachelor. Greg has spent the last three holiday seasons nursing his broken heart after the girls he’d been dating were all susceptible to other, more audacious suitors. So this year, Greg has steeled his heart and emotions and vows to get through the season unscathed.

Neither Greg nor Lindsey is in the market for a romance; each just wants to get on with their life. But fate, and some well-meaning local matchmakers, help the situation along. And their constantly bumping into each other in the small town keeps the awareness level high.

First Flurries is an enchanting, feel-good love story in one of the most charming and picturesque seaside towns you’ll ever visit. Decorated perfectly to reflect the holiday season with wreaths, garland, lights, and the proverbial first flurries, the reader is sure to fall in love with the town and its residents. This contemporary love story is simplistic but compelling and you’ll want to read late into the night to learn if Lindsey and Greg finally see what’s right in front of them.

Although this is a Christmas Season/Holiday story, I read this during the heat of early July in Florida. It was a welcome change to lose myself in the snow covered scenes of Ms. Demaio’s descriptions.

Actually 4.5 stars

Lindsey Haynes is a free spirit who takes direction from a snow globe that her father gifted her with one day. She pulls her small shop the her, that is also her home, as she travels from town to town selling her vintage treasures. After finishing up in one small town she shakes her snow globe and it leads her to the the small town of Addison in Connecticut, which happens to be where her Uncle Gus lives. It's a beautiful town getting ready for Christmas with parties, its annual Merry Market, and an auction filled with a variety of pieces. While heading for the Merry Market to set up her mini shop Lindsey gets excited about the newly falling snow and backs into someone's car. Greg Davis is a local doctor who has decided that he needs some changes in his life. He is tired of dressing the same way everyday, shaving to maintain a clean look, and driving a predictable car. For the last three Christmases he has been unlucky when it comes to love and thinks this year doing it alone is the way to go. In the midst of getting coffee one morning he watches as a tiny home backs up into his car. How could this be happening he wonders and runs to figure out what is going on, that's when he meets Lindsey. Each thinks this is just a simple meeting that will be handled and then back to their perspective lives. Follow along as they are thrown together time and time again and slowly begin to see each other in a new light. Will romance take for Greg or will this be strike four, will Lindsey let love happen or will she be off to her next destination after the holidays? The characters each had a delightful spark that brought them to life and had them dancing across the pages. This was a lovely introduction to this authors work for me that has me excited to pick up more of her work.

FIRST FLURRIES
AUTHOR: JOANNE DEMAIO

A WHIMSICAL FIVE STARS

FIRST FLURRIES is an amazing story set in Addison, a charming little New England town, where the spirit of Christmas is still alive. JoAnne Demaio has created the most wonderful characters that you will simply adore!! One day I would love to spend the Christmas holiday in one of Gus’s cozy cabins, walk down the decorated streets, be greeted by the friendliest people around, listen to the sweet sound of the Christmas carolers, or maybe take a tour on the holiday bus, driven by Gus.

Lindsey Haynes father gifted her a snow globe that she cherishes, and he left her a note that encourages her to give it a shake and the snow globe will tell her heart what she needs to do.

That snow globe led her to Adison where her uncle Gus lives. There she and the handsome town doctor, Greg Davis, “accidentally” meet many times. It is evident to Gus and his friends that Lindsey and Greg are meant for each other, but there are a few obstacles they must get over first. Dr. Davis is suffering from a broken heart and he is determined that he is not getting involved in a relationship and dealing with another broken heart over the holidays. Lindsey is just passing through and has no plans of settling in one place.

Cupid strikes with a little help. The chemistry between Lindsey and Greg is too much to be ignored. Will Lindsey give her snow globe a little shake and decide to settle down in Adison? Will Dr. Davis decide to blow caution to the wind and give love another try?

This Christmas love story is a must read! You will feel all the magic of Christmas!

First Flurries by Joanne DeMaio
Have read other works by the author and have loved them all.
This one starts out with Lindsey and she's driving around towing her tiny house to a new location. As she nears Addison, CT she recalls an uncle there and maneuvers to his location, at the lake. Love how she finds an item because this is what really happens in New England-you leave things for others along the side of the road.
He's the man in charge of the cabins in the woods, at the lake. Love his mode of transportation, priceless!. He's set her up so she can show her vintage wares at the green where all the locals are displaying their crafts.
Problem is she backs into Dr. Greg's car and things escalate pass that...that is the first of many 'collisions'.
She gets advice from Penny about a kiss will tell where your true heart lies and she makes a wish and hopes she gets it for Christmas. Things don't go as planned and are misundersood.
Love hearing of the festivities of the town-such a busy night life, sounds beautiful.
Like hearing how she lives in her tiny house but it's also her shop of vintage clothes and she also sells them on the net, so resourceful!
Love white tail deer trivia-i learn something new every book I read from this author-even new words!
Other excerpts from books are included along with highlights of other works by the author. About the author is attached as well.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

I have been a fan of tiny houses for many years. The fact of no wasted space and extreme organization suits to a "T". So when the main character, Lindsey Haynes drove into Addison with a Tiny House attached to her SUV, I was immediately ready to read this Christmas story! She was invited by her uncle Gus to Snowflake Lake. He is the manager of the cabins there. But before she could open her Vintage clothing boutique , she accidentally backs into Dr. Greg Davis' sedan.

From then on the two collide in the story countless times. But Greg has been burned too many times by romance and he decides not to pursue the pretty and peppy woman that he just me. He trades in his smashed sedan for a very unexpected type of car. He lets his appearance go, he refuses to pursue her. Lindsey is attracted to him but he does seem to be by her. What will happen when she gets advice from her friend, Penny?

I enjoyed this addition to the Winter stories that Joanne DeMaio has written and hope the two characters will show up in future stories.

The holidays are always a magical time of year and the novel, First Flurries by author Joanne DeMaio, is a festive story brimming with holiday cheer. It’s a romantic tale that takes place in the small town of Addison, Connecticut and centers around the main characters of Lindsay Haynes and Greg Davis. Lindsay is a bit of a vegabond although she’s far from homeless as she tows along her tiny house that also includes her vintage boutique inside. Greg is the local orthopedic surgeon who has had nothing but bad luck when it comes to love interests. The atmosphere and landscape with all the quaint little cottages, bungalows and shops make it a place you want to spend time in all while the locals make you feel like family. It’s a story that instantly puts you in the holiday spirit. I really enjoyed reading about Lindsay and Greg’s mishaps and adventures, and also appreciated hearing about some of the past characters from the authors other books. I think it’s a cozy, festive story you won’t want to miss out on. I received an ebook copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

First Flurries just swept me away into this charming heartwarming story in a town called Addison, all decorated with twinkling lights, festive greens, silver bells, and plenty of Christmas spirit. Joanne DeMaio knows how to capture the landscape with her beautiful descriptions and makes you feel part of the holiday cheer. Lindsey has a tiny house with a Vintage shop as she travels over the country selling her unique brands of clothing, spurred on with her snow globe that tells her 'her heart will know' where to go and what to do. She meets Gregg by literally colliding into his car as she is trying to park her SUV and her shop. He is an orthopedic surgeon and bachelor who has given up on romance and is trying out his new image. Lindsey has many wishes and dreams and is very surprised with her events in Addison. I absolutely loved this story, it is such a cozy feel good book, you don't want to miss reading it for sure.

I love Joanne's winter series, set in the beautiful and friendly town of Addison. And to have this one set at Christmas time makes it even more special. I love when the Christmas stories start coming out and this was the perfect story to take me down the path to the holidays.

Lindsay travels around in her little house, which also serves as her business. She's carefree and goes where the wind takes her. Or in her case, where the snow globe seems to lead her. When she ends up in Addison, nothing seems to be in her control anymore. She finally feels what it is like to belong somewhere. But is it enough to make her stay put or will she just roll her life out of town?

First Flurries is the perfect winter, holiday read—it's short, sweet, and full of the wonderful people of the town of Addison, all of whom I have come to love. I strongly recommend that you take a trip to Addison and see if you don't fall in love with them as well.

I have read other books by Joanne DeMaio and have enjoyed them. This one was no different. This one begins with Lindsey who moves from place to place with her tiny house/store. She uses her snow globe to help her choose where to go next. After shaking her snow globe, the next sign she sees is for a town called Addison. Lindsey’s uncle lives there so she goes to his home. He owns some cabins and a camping area so he sets her up with a place to park her tiny home and also helps her to be able to show her vintage clothing at the local craft show on the green. Lindsey backs into the local doctor’s car which leads to the first of many collisions with Greg.
This is a heartwarming, Christmas story which was fun to read. I received an advanced copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

I always enjoy Ms DeMaio books so light, funny and cleverly written. This story revolves around a tiny house on wheels owned by Lindsey. In this tiny house she lives but also has her business called Vagabond Vintage where she sells vintage clothes and accessories. Lindsey not only owns the business but lives the part, dressing in clothes from the 60's & 70's and roaming around from place to place. Just her lifestyle indicates she does not want romance in her life. But sometimes it finds you when you least expect it. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. If you find yourself always running into the same people, maybe it's supposed to happen even if you do not realize it at the time. Such is the case with Lindsey. This is a definite read if you enjoy small towns, Christmas, snow, and a little bit of romance.

From Flurries to Mayhem

A delightful Christmas related story, woven by Joanne DeMaio, is not to be missed. From the quaint Main Street to the lovely lake, Addison appears to be the right place e to be, according to Lindsey and her trusty snow globe which has led her correctly since she began her vagabond journey. A visit with her Uncle Gus helped set her up in the village market green where she was hoping to set up her little tiny house shop. However, a rhyming weather forecaster set the stage for her first run in quite literally with Dr. Greg. Will Lindsey be able to overcome this first run in or will she once again look down the roAd for the next leg of her journey? Only time will tell, ChristmaS time that is.

Just in time for the winter season, Joanne DiMaio, returns her readers to the enchanting town of Addison, CT. A town filled with Christmas cheer, trolley rides and holiday parties. Lindsey, owner of a tiny house that shows her wares of anything vintage, makes a stop in Addison hoping to set up her tiny shop. However, trying to maneuver her shop into a parking spot, Lindsey backs up into the car of Dr. Greg Davis, the towns Orthopedic surgeon. What happens next is a lot of unexpected bumps and mishaps that are not to be missed in this delightful book. Picture a town with carolers on the corner, twinkling lights and happiness as abundant as snow flurries and you will be glad you read “First Flurries”. I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Lindsey Haynes choses Addison for her next stop to set up her shop for the Merry Mart. She backs right into Greg's car. Greg has decided he will not be dating this Christmas as the last three women he dated married someone else. Lindsey's lives in a tiny house that doubles as her shop. Those two keep colliding. Lindsey's uncle Gus lives at Snowflake Lake and there is space for her to park her house. Uncle Gus and Greg's dad Pete try to matchmake but get caught by Greg. Little by little lindsey falls for Addison and maybe for Greg. First Flurries is by Joanne DeMaio and is a sweet tale. Have to read it yourself if you want to know if Lindsey's wandering ceases and Greg let's himself fall in love.

Joanne DeMaio has indeed done it again. Once you pick up this book you will fall in love over and over again. I fell in love with tiny houses, businesses on wheels, my mind kept thinking we needed a bookstore on wheels, because we can't have the same business Lindsey had. And then with the good doctor as well.

The story was told so that you could imagine all the little details, Lindsey driving and towing her little house behind her, listening to the radio, the first flurries of snow falling all around her and then the magic happened...................

A must read for anyone who is interested in great romance.

This is probably my favorite of Joanne DeMaio's holiday books. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading this story. It centers around Greg, who we have met before and Lindsey. Greg who has been unlucky in love tries to change his luck by changing himself. Lindsey is a vagabond traveling her and there selling her wares. They meet and snowflakes fall. I also liked the minor characters especially Uncle Gus. I also got a out of the roundabout storyline. Since our town recently got a roundabout and it was the talk of the Town. But so far I don't think there has been major traffic accidents. Anyways pick this book up you will enjoy it
